I Loved this one. I was very glad though that Vader's eye didnt swell all up to a sickening degree again.

I started this whole thing as a casual Liger fool, but I'm just an out loud Liger mark now. I loved that just out of nowhere Coppo Kick and the body squishing somersault senton.

[1990-08-19-NWA-Main Event] Danger Zone: Ric Flair & Sting

Flair is sporting platinum Thundarr the Barbarian hair. Pretty hideous. I liked Paul E's reaction to the mention of Jim Herd's name. -
Tatum's shit-eating grin at the very end makes this one pure gold.

Yes, you can certainly see the metaphorical comparisons of Chris and the entire Dallas territory but Im going to be positive (kinda) here. Chris might be a pioneer. You can now, on any weekend, go to random indy show within driving distance of your home and see tiny, unathletic, no-need-to-be-in-the-ring, "workers". Blaze the path, Chris.

[1990-08-11-AWA] Team Challenge Series Recap / Survivor Battle Royal

Larry cuts another stellar promo. Then we get...this. Yes, depressing. Depressing is a good word for it. -
You fly far enough under the radar and you dont get caught. I couldnt even defend this stuff back in the day. Just glad it ended fairly quickly. Those sexual misconduct charges tend to stop things like this cold.

I could take a big shit on the booking of this one but lets be positive. Rick Rude is a MIRACLE worker to get something as good as he did out of the Warrior.

You guys have more patience for this stuff than I do.

That shot of Slaughter pointing an automatic weapon right at the camera will never see the light of day again. They shouldnt have done it in the first place.

[1990-08-04-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] The Pearl vs Joe Cazana

I sounded like there was one guy in the audience loudly railing against this. Just think, Ole has yet another four months and even dumber tricks up his sleeve. -

The real "Bundy" all tied up was utilityman Greg Peel, son of Buddy Wayne and brother of Ken Wayne.- 10 replies

I wonder what the GI Joe people thought of this run. Anyone know? In return for this information, I'll spare you my Fox News jokes.

I'd never seen this one. Actually, I think the only match from GAB 90 I'd ever seen outside of highlights on the WCW tv was Lex-Callous. They showed the last few minutes late one night between movies on "Main Events You Should Have Seen" (it was probably after "Smokey and the Bandit". It was TBS back then after all). I was REALLY expecting to have this blow my ninja mind, but overhyping did it in. Dont get me wrong. This was a very very fun match but for a first timer, it didnt live up to the hype. Much like sex.

Well, Jeanie loses the earrings (and those hot gloves, grrr) but keeps her wristwatch and ring on. Its readily apparent here that Austin was going to be a major star.

The rumor around now is that Jeff Gaylord died in prison earlier this year. He was in prison out in Colorado for attempted bank robbery (and knowing the intelligence of Gaylord...gawd, to be a fly on the wall at both the planning and execution of that caper). Anybody know for sure?

I, swear to God, also thought it was "Kick Butt". I've been wrong for 23 years. With help from the Pro Wrestling History website, the first challenger for Snowman after Lawler was....Jeff Gaylord. There is NO WAY IN HELL the tape of that match didnt hit the bulk eraser in the production room. If it does exist, it might be worse than the Abby-Zeus match.

When THIS is one of the biggest things of the week, then your promotion really sucks. WWF was just the utter shits

When that was over the first thing I thought of was Krusty The Clown at the Little Miss Springfield Pageant: "Well, That just kept on goin!" Who was the booker in Puerto Rico at this point? Its clearly not a well-minded person who said "Well, why the hell not?"

Bill Dundee is one of the scummiest, sleaziest, carniest people I've ever met so its hard for me to take myself out of that mindset to watch him as a babyface.

Jeanie not only doesnt put her long long hair up in a ponytail, but she's still wearing her earrings for this match. Clearly, she's in way over her head and hasnt been in a real fight. The gloves were hot, though. The match itself was just pure tease, sit in a long chinlock until the crowd is either yawning or dying to see the Blonds roll around. Austin waited seemingly for hours for Toni to jump on top of Adams. I think he even waved her over to the fallen Gentleman. So yeah, it not only appeared that the July 4th show didnt draw, but also the Two Acts of Violence against women pissed off the TV station. Sometimes, things just have to end.
