  3. Thanks guys http://placetobenation.com/this-week-in-wrestling-31316/
  4. Kal's still got it.
  5. I'm most excited for the crowd getting to go nuts after 10 years of not having a PPV. Glad you guys will be there.
  6. I would like to quickly respond to the defamation purported against me by my close, personal friend Chad. First - I made the self-deprecating joke about him making up joshi names when we were talking about Dynamite Kansai (I'm sure she's very nice, and she's definitely real - and she made my list). One of the goals of my list was to not exclude the best of different styles that I had not as closely followed. As part of my follow-up research, I watched and read more on each to be able to slot them into a tier I felt was respectable. We had a nice conversation about Kiyoshi Tamura as well. What a hatchet job. Jerk.
  7. I don't know if I'll be in the minority on this, but I prefer the one hour show format (without knowing what they'd do with 2 hours - granted). I totally get where talent is coming from with not getting to be on TV more than twice a month (tops), but I like having them spread out. It's a big deal when you get a Bucks match on TV. There's no overexposure there. Maybe more importantly, if they did explore going to two hours, I'm curious how it logistically would work. Do they turn "Conquest Tour" shows into matches filmed for TV? Do they have to run more often, definitely overexposing themselves to their regular markets? (Philly as-is was Aftershock Tour before SummerSlam, Final Battle, a TV taping the next night, and now the 3/12 show). Would they expand locations - taking bigger venues because of the new setup anyway?
  8. He's got a good story too to back it up. 17 years - finally getting his break. Not going to fuck around. Cheap shots, grabbing the ropes. Went into the tournament with him as an afterthought and while they *do* have a bunch of those type of heels, hope he gets to stick around.
  9. I was surprised how much Kongo got in the match; it was odd since Kongo wasn't established at all with the ROH crowd. I've been doing reviews of the last month of ROH TV over at PTBN - posted my thoughts on this past week earlier today: http://placetobenation.com/ring-of-honor-tv-episode-233-recap/ Really liked the TPT final.

  11. He made my list before I saw Jimmy's post, but that's a heckuva write-up.
  12. Given the thorough steps one has to go through to come up with and then submit a list, I don't think you're going to get any kind of joke submissions. People are lazy.
  13. Really liked the ROH TV talk - onto the second fall now.
  14. I really enjoyed this written piece at SI on Joe Koff. http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2016/03/08/ring-honor-joe-koff-wwe-business-growth-interview
  15. I considered him for a spot but after watching a bunch and wrapping up my prelim list to cut from, he didn't make it. Thanks for the match recommendations and nice write-up Sammy. I've seen a couple of those. It's good to note how green (pun somewhat intended?) green ant is there as the beginning of that match (which, I'll disagree - wasn't much sprinty about it for me) is some of the worst wrestling I've watched in a while. Slow motion mat wrestling like that, man, I hate to use the word fake but it's bad.
  16. http://placetobenation.com/all-japan-excite-series-15/ Thanks guys
  17. Interested in everyone's thoughts on the Punisher Martinez / Lio Rush match. Punisher was really booked here as indestructible - swatting away most of Rush's offense. I mean, the story was great and they worked out a really good match that built well to the big spots. It was just so different to see in a ROH ring, where there's a lot more give and take - size be damned. They really screwed the bracket up as that had to be the final. There is literally no way Fury/Rush comes anywhere close to this.
  18. Ishikawa thread links to the index of nominees thread.
  19. Who were the two not listed initially?
  20. I agree with everything Joe says, and his second ROH title run (outside the 13th anniversary four-way) was quietly really good. Matches with Joe, Hansen, Fish, Lethal. His aura is (still) awesome. Incredibly underrated imo.

Remember when Brock used to actually take bumps in his original run? Holy shit, was he a great bumper. Yup. His post streak-breaker persona stifles what they'll do with Ambrose. They should wrestle a match like Punk/Brock , and actually build drama to Dean having a chance.
  22. That's a skype recorder thing (shows them as artists) - I re-edited and removed.
  23. Graham's HOW show was on the PTBN podbean feed - never its own. Great show, hoping his schedule allows a reboot of sorts this year.
  24. That's important to note since the clip of his last singles match with Sheamus, where he takes the bullhammer outside, was going around with all this talk like he had a seizure right on TV (he was obviously selling the would-be countout finish) and the ringside doctor and everyone just ignored it.
  25. Thanks Pete. I have a contingency plan if there was ever an issue, and one hopes they'd honor their paying customers through the end date we are signed up for (giving us time to move and store our archive).
