  1. Isn't this why WWE changes guys names though? I could see if it was Samoa Joe and WWE didn't change his name but what stops Mattel from making a Kevin Owens figure?
  2. Really good questions Dylan. Enjoyed reading this earlier today.
  3. These tapings are interesting in how they ended up lining up with the DA debut (Jay Diesel in your first main event!), plus the PPV in a couple weeks and they're working in the NJPW guys. Lot of stories to advance, in limited TV blocks. This was plenty entertaining although the past couple weeks have been much better wrestling-wise. I do wonder if TNA fans tuned in and wondered what that noise was going on around the ring, having to be told that's what paying fans sound like. Thought the crowd was plenty hot here.
  4. New episode up talking finishes in wrestling. Stuttsy, of course, is the booker for CWF so some good discussion.
  5. Enjoyed this a good bit. Kevin was a great guest. Love that you put over that first Flair DVD set. I'd imagine once they saw the success that had, they sacrificed the detailed format in order to churn more out. Most sets have the promos as extras, but doesn't measure up to how carefully crafted that first set was.
  6. Will is joined by Dylan Hales, Kris Zellner, Johnny Sorrow and Phil Schneider (Secunda Caida Blog) to discuss the 2nd special in two weeks. Can tag teams be effective in a Chamber? Was the IC title one of the worst Chamber matches of all time? Will there ever be a great women's match on the main roster? Was Cena-Owens a MOTYC? Can a Dusty Finish work in 2015? All this and much more on the Reaction Show!!! http://placetobenation.com/ptbn-elimination-chamber-2015-reaction-show/
  7. Old news (ROH isn't always great with archiving the most recent TV when new TV drops) but finally got a chance to check out the 6-man tag from the SanAntonio tapings. The pop for El Patron is GREAT.
  8. I normally don't like those spots either, and to be fair, I don't believe the ROH crowd boo-yays that much (I could be wrong) but Lethal's initial strikes actually looked good and I liked how it led to O'Reilly's more advanced strikes, and subsequently Axe and Smash. I'm glad you checked this one out as it was definitely the best Lethal has looked. Awesome match, great reversal into the finish, and I actually thought - damn, they missed an opportunity to use that spot to actually move the belt down the road. O'Reilly wouldn't be a bad TV champ if they transition away from Red Dragon.
  9. Was it the boss at DA she cc'd or a higher-up Discovery exec? Putting myself in her inept business shoes, I wonder if that was an effort to show-up the DA guy by whining to his (or her) superior. No-showing a quarterly meeting is even worse than the dumb email cc play.
  10. And putting it as the lead in to TNA is pretty smart by DA. They're already losing money on this investment so why not experiment with crossover viewers? At worst they still cancel TNA in September anyway. Great deal for DA.
  11. Got word we're bringing in our best timekeeper so this entire production will be TIGHT. Right in time for the PTBN 2nd anniversary celebration as well.
  12. Shoe - if you're caught up on ROH VOD/PPV and TV, check out their Ringside Members archive for 2014. Now, it should be updated so anything outside a calendar year is included but they're spotty there - BUT - the 12th Anniversary show from Feb '14 in Philly is a killer card and I'm only maybe 2/3 of the way through. Worth seeking out.
  13. Let's be honest - the WWE doesn't have the implementation resources to put up their own stuff, there is no way they're a) spending money on TNA's material producing it for the Network
  14. Will gets an A for the consistent Pete trolling throughout - even with the callback with the Young Bucks at the end. The Ryder stuff and Will's PTBN disclaimer made me laugh. Great show.
  15. ^ I honestly can't tell if you made that quote up or you found it on TNAMecca.
  16. edit: nm - couldn't find spoiler tag code, will figure out later.
  17. TV this week is really good - ACH/Page gets a lot of time. I dislike that low-blow/roll-up finish after ACH kicked out of everything Page could offer prior but I guess I can retcon that all the previous damage compounded to him being unable to muster the energy after quite the nutshot. The rematch should have ACH hitting his finish clean and going over but other than that, I'm not sure what else these guys could break out. These guys put together a great match and I'm not sure how it can be topped. The main event was great because I logically thought that Mark Briscoe would take the pin and War Machine would go over. The Briscoes are bullet proof anyway but damn if Jay didn't need a solid win like this. And Hanson got to kickout in a nice moment to put him over, but still takes the loss. Given their stature, I thought that made Jay look great going into his Best in the World stuff with, presumably, Lethal (who has a great bit shilling his DVD with Truth - Lethal the delusional heel champ is so good).
  18. DiBiase was great on commentary at the Rumble in '94
  19. Not knowing their editorial process, perhaps he was really going for the joke (since they didn't call him by name) and then one of their editors saw the uproar and changed it and noted an apology, not knowing the intent and not reaching out to Nason first.
  20. TV thoughts for this week: I didn't think the traditional tag structure helped War Machine. Now - KES has size so it does make it more believable that they could work over either guy a they did, but I feel like an 8-10 minute brawl with big hoss moves would have been better. Way too long and the end was a mess and not hot at all. Disappointing. Ciampa/Lethal was real good - Ciampa goes out on a high note. Thought he was real crisp. ***1/4 for me.
  21. re: Dory Booking: Amarillo + head booker for Crockett/NWA in the late 80s on that panel Training: Dory Funk Dojo Wrestler: Heard he was good or something Who says no, Parv?
  22. LOL - listened to this heading out for coffee this morning. Well done Parv.
  23. Ah, maybe the camera angle helped there. There were a couple shots though that made BJ look pretty bad.
  24. Shoe - you mentioned Moose really being off his game at this taping. I thought he alright in that four corner survival, but not bad. Somersault and the spear looked good. Whilst not a fan of BJ Whitmer the wrestler, I am digging his heel character. really clicked with me during the Atlanta show and this stuff with ACH is real good. Seems to be setting up ACH + Moose vs. the Decade. Tag match and reveal was well done, great hour of TV this week.
