Watch less wrestling, honestly Do a podcast Subscribe to New Japan World Keep up with current stuff outside of WWE, I think 2015 has the potential to be an interesting year
-
But what did it mean after? Nothing. WWE has always been better about making their big moments matter, not only at the time, but for years after the fact. 1-2-3 Kid became a huge star because of it, and it's constantly touted as a great Raw moment, etc. Iaukea is barely remembered today. I think that's why no one else is jumping on Iaukea/Regal as any kind of big deal, because it ultimately wasn't. That's not the point. It was a big upset at the time, regardless of what happened after.

Taking them? It's a strange choice of gimmick to give guys of that stature. Mizdow looked more physically imposing than Konnor in that match and Ascension look like they're going to be booked as dominating monsters.
-
The Ascension makes me miss steroids. Sorry, someone had to say it.
-
I thought the Ryback promo was fine and I wish they would do that kind of stuff more often. Although if you listened to him on Talk is Jericho, he literally told the exact same story word for word.
-
It's been assumed for a while now, but that's the first "official" mention of it. Definitely a guy who achieved more than his perceived limit, the dude has a lot of good stuff to hang his hat on.
-
Not dumb at all. They can't get buys/subscriptions on surprises. Bryan is a star and they really need stars right now.
-
No. Just the usual part timer speculation that comes up every year. See also Undertaker, Austin, Hogan, etc.
-
Why is this a thread? People can't even predict more than one or two matches for 31 yet. And why are we still fantasy booking Undertaker situations?

The ONLY guy I want to see Lesnar against is Bryan. And both guys status for Mania is questionable. Lesnar vs. anybody else but Cena just doesn't work unless they strap a rocket to someone's ass between now and April. And they absolutely cannot do Cena vs. Lesnar again. I could get behind a Shield triple threat. I don't want Taker involved at all. Induct him into the Hall of Fame and then that's it. Sting vs. HHH will probably be happen and at least it keeps them away from other guys. I could actually seen this being decent. Rusev vs. Ryback is a big match they haven't done yet, but I have a feeling they will do it before Mania so this probably wouldn't work. Ryback vs. Lesnar? They still have a lot of work to do with Ryback before he would be credible at that level. Randy, Sheamus, Bray, Big Show, Kane, Ziggler, I have no idea what they do with any of them. Maybe Barrett will be healthy by then and he could slug it out with Sheamus or Harper or someone similar. I think Harper desrves a big singles match at Mania, but have no idea who he works. Ziggler again? Ehh... Cesaro at this stage will be lucky if he makes the card. Tag teams and midcarders and Divas will be thrown into some multi-person mess. It's amazing how many guys are worse off then they were earlier in the year after the awesome WrestleMania 30. Is there anybody in the company who is in a better position then they were last year? Maybe Rollins?
-
Call me crazy but the only potential Mania match I'm interested in (if they go that route) is Miz vs Mizdow.

Sgt. Slaughter

Man, I'm so bored with this company. I have no clue where they're going with Mania this year. None of the rumored directions sound interesting.

This. In fact, it should have been Austin who was the champion putting Brock over at Summerslam that year in place of The Rock. This would have really put forward the point of a new "new era". Austin could have taken the belt from Taker (or hell, even Hogan..) and lost to Brock in what would surely have been a megadraw. No it wouldn't. In 2002 you could argue Austin may have been slightly lower on the totem pole than Rock and quite frankly Austin's stock dropped quite a bit after turning back face. I see no reason why the buy rate would be different.
-
This "stepping up" shit is gonna get annoying real quick. Reigns is getting pushed regardless, it's so transparent when they point to him as the guy who's following Austin's advice or whatever.

Awesome

I think saying Paige's career is done is a little extreme...

Sometimes I really wonder how much Vince is to blame for a guy like Cesaro cooling off. From all accounts, Vince is only interested in his main event (Cena). Punk touched on this. Not to say he doesn't pay attention, but the guy probably has so much on his mind he doesn't keep up with everything that's going on in the undercard, and with dozens of writers trying to direct things, guys sometimes just get lost. I'm not so sure you can simply write it off as a simple case of Vince hates Indy guys. When Austin blamed booking for Cesaro's current situation, Vince seemed to think about it for a minute and then agree that his booking hasn't been the best. Since Cesaro seemed to be such a hot topic I wouldn't be surprised if they pay a little more attention to him. I get the feeling that Vince needs to hear things like that from people he respects to truly listen and there's no doubt in my mind he respects Steve. Notice how quickly he dismissed "critics."

Vince McMahon on Stone Cold Podcast
The Chief replied to goodhelmet's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Loved Austin reigning Vince back in when he started going off the rails about how fun it is to throw people in pools, lol crazy Vince This was really fun and Steve is the best person to interview Vince at this stage. I thought he asked the best questions he could with the time he was given. I hope we do get a round two with questions ala Punk on AOW. -
Heard about it but didn't see it. It's weird cause from the promos on Raw, New Day looks the parody version of the reality show called Preachers of LA mixed in with Kirk Franklin. EDIT: I just watched their debut on Smackdown and it wasn't bad. They just seem like happy babyfaces. Didn't really connect to the church stuff but we'll wait and see. Live crowd doesn't know what to make of this.

CM Punk on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling
The Chief replied to goodhelmet's topic in Publications and Podcasts
How much money are Punk and Cabana making off this podcast? Serious question, I have no idea how that works. -
Anybody happen to catch the New Day debut on Smackdown? No promo time, just a six man with them going over Axel, Titus and Slater. Not really sure where they're going with the gimmick, I know it's been put on hold a few times. As of now they're babyfaces with a positive message. Hope this means more Big E on my screen, I think he works well in tags.

Colt's had people speak negatively of WWE before on his show, only difference here is that the guest has a higher profile. -

"Because Triple H did such a good job elevating him (Curtis Axel)" Ha! Awesome.
