Watched the Macho Man bluray today and it's ok. Really somber tone throughout the whole thing. Also, they gloss over all of the angles outside of the REALLY big stuff (Steamboat, Mega Powers). No mention of the NWO, Flair fued, or even Sherri. It's more of a look at his life with wrestling talked about in broad strokes. There is some cool behind the scenes footage throughout. Fortunately the matches selected are things we haven't received a million times like Wrestlemania III, VII. Unfortunately there's no promos. Mild recommendation.

I bought the bluray today, I'll be posting my thoughts after I watch it tonight.

I'm not gonna lie, I love Van Hammer in a guilty pleasure sort of way. The fact that he did a glam rock gimmick during the height of grunge. The fact that he once used a pyro shooting guitar as a weapon. The fact that he had total delusions about his place on the card. Watch the Russo/Bischoff promo where they first reboot Nitro. When the entire roster is summoned, Van Hammer waits until everybody else is in the ring and comes down with all of the main eventers like he belongs. He makes sure he's right in view of the camera and laughs and nods at all of Bischoff's smarky digs at the Millionaire's Club. He even high fives Jarrett after some of them. It's one of those things that maybe only I find funny but for whatever reason it always cracks me up. Tremendous. The fact that he quit because he didn't want to be labeled a Private in the Misfits of Action because Private was too low of a rank for someone the legendary status of Van Hammer. Van Hammer is awesome.

RVD has had plenty of cool designs, the artist who airbrushed his stuff also does Rybacks's. I really liked the tiger design from Invasion.

Not surprising in that he's wrestled probably under a dozen tv matches in the past two years, but somewhat surprising in that they liked using him for PR in India.

No, it's from a DVD.

Titans of Wrestling #37: WWF March 1981
The Chief replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Kick ass show guys! How about Steve Buscemi as Gary Michael Cappetta? -
I've been listening to some recent Ross Reports and he has improved. But I had to turn this week's episode off halfway through and it wasn't because of Ross. From here on out I will never listen to a podcast with "former WWE Creative Writer so and so" ever again. This Greenfield guy is such a suck-up to the marks tool. No wonder most wrestlers hate these assholes.

So many directions they can take this. Just imagine the roof blowing off the place when Cena and Rusev finally square off....

I'm liking the build too. Reminds me of 2003 with Team Austin vs Team Bischoff. And that was an awesome match.

Marty Jannetty should have had a great singles run somewhere.

That's not a proper spoiler tag. Thanks.

[1999-10-17-WWF-No Mercy] Edge & Christian vs Matt & Jeff Hardy (Ladder)
The Chief replied to Loss's topic in October 1999
One reason why these probably got over so well with the crowds is that it's just non stop. You can have two guys selling while the other two guys hit their spots, which you obviously can't do in singles ladder matches. Perfect time and place and perfect talent to use in this environment. It's ADD wrestling that makes sense.- 14 replies

This may be my least favorite segment in the history of televised wrestling. Awful on so many levels.

For being a contracted WWF guy, Taka sure made his way around in 1999.- 7 replies

Yeah, it was stated that the wrestler had to have a run somewhere. So no indy guys with three matches under their belt. And yeah, I think a lot of people are just listing guys they don't like or guys that aren't good but not "worst ever" bad. I'm not even sure I would name guys like Gigante. His role was to be a tree and he did that. He was by no means fun to watch, but I feel niche roles like that shouldn't count towards this. Same with Fat Guys. I'm not going to list a fatty because he doesn't chain wrestle. I will list a fat guy if he can't bump properly, can't punch, can't hit the ropes properly, etc. Worst ever has to be somebody who doesn't even understand the basics of wrestling. Somebody who can't sell, can't punch, looks lost all the time, can't read a crowd, can't properly execute basic maneuvers.

I listen at work and I usually run for an hour a day so I'll listen on my runs. Fortunately do to my line of work, I have plenty of listening time.

This was great and I'm pointing all blind Cena haters towards this. One thing I want to bring up is Cena at WM19. They actually had huge plans for him, I wouldn't say he was left of the card. He was supposed to battle rap either Fabulous or Jay Z, which in 2003 would have been huge. I think they backed out at the last minute which led to Cena doing a rap on a cardboard cutout on Heat before the PPV. Kind of reinforces your theory that they had always had plans for Cena.

For 82 you could get Barry Hart (Horowitz), or maybe one of the underneath guys like Rivera or Estrada. Snuka was around all year but I don't think he's mentally capable of doing one of these. Could also use Putski if he's in good health. What about Warlord or Barbarian for 1990? You could always get Bushwhacker Luke to do 90 or 91 too. 1996 you have a lot of choices: Holly, Aldo, Gunns, Godwins, AL Snow. I find that the guys who weren't necessarily "top guys" are better in these.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

According to Jericho's podcast, William Regal will be doing a "show" at some venues in the UK after Raw and Smackdown the next time WWE goes to the UK. He didn't go into detail about what it is however I know Regal is a big fan of British stand-up. If Regal is doing stand-up then I am insanely jealous of you Brits and really want to be there because that sounds amazing. "An evening with William." -
The Heatwave 99 promo, whoooooooo boy....... Were these fans legit? I mean, Bubba was way over the line here. Kind of uncomfortable to watch actually.

I have no clue what Scott's talking about with Benoit looking like he's on the rise here, I think he's looking back on things with the benefit of hindsight. Benoit wasn't anywhere near the title picture or near main events until they elevated him with Cena around Survivor Series.
