Sammy Zayn gifted Nakamura a new IC title belt and it's actually quite nice. FFS though, for over 30 years I've been watching and they've done absolutely nothing to explain what these belts are, there's no mystique behind their conception, so many stories to be told there and they've done no world building, created zero mythology, instead they're just trinkets your friends can give out as a nice gesture whenever they feel like it. Brand pride is a great motivator though. Pathetic.

Billy does at least dwarf everyone in terms of height and muscle mass. I was ready to hate this segment when he came out but it’s a lot of fun.
-
But now we get Penta vs. Jungle Jack Perry so all is good. edit: nope this is the battle royal and for some reason they like Billy Gunn, ugh
-
If that video was hyping any other act it would have had me in stitches.
-
God bless Britt Baker for having to follow THAT.

Wish there was a little more intrigue in terms of angles and feuds right now. Still feels like they blew their load with Cody-MJF-Jericho. But the Diamond Dozen is promising and Mox-Allin will be absolutely lit.

This wasn't a breaking point or anything, but controversy like this just leaves a bad taste in my mouth so I'll turn to content that doesn't have that stigma right now. It's not so much that I'm disappointed in everyone involved here (I am), but now something that seemed wholesome is contaminated and cloudy. So I'll remove myself from the toxic environment for the moment. I hope these feelings pass because I wholeheartedly loved this show. But there is a lot of wrestling out there.

It's all he needs to earn an income, sure, but he's clearly not someone who is enjoying their existence on this planet. As time goes on and he ostricizes himself from the mainstream audience and is excluded from all the legends gatherings year after year, it's gonna eat away at him. I really wish he would do the opposite of someone like Trump here and actually get some help and figure out how to exist comfortably in society without causing all this noise rather than isolating himself completely.

And I was so into this show. Simply recasting the commentator role won't be enough to wash the taste away at this point.

Since the NWA is channelling the classic TBS studio vibe with Powerrr and AEW's Dynamite is a perfect throwback to Nitro, I thought an indy could use the format of ECW Hardcore TV to expose their product to a wider audience on a weekly basis. As the spiritual successor to ECW, Game Changer Wrestling seemed like a good fit so I pieced together a very rough pilot from various YouTube clips. I was very faithful to the original Hardcore TV, using some of the same music and basic format. I even edited together a "Tarantino promo" segment. Google Drive Link This was a lot of fun to create and if there's any interest (I'm talking even 1 person here) I'll make another episode. Cheers.

Lagana was on Busted Open and mentioned Aldis vs. Murdoch on this week's show. I'm into that.

There's no shame in stanning a product when it consistently delivers and has a lot on the horizon. Most of the time even proclaiming oneself a wrestling fan comes with an open can of qualifiers. AEW (with a lot of help from Jericho) is wringing the sport free from the clutches of the useless old man and returning it to the masses free of those attributes. We should be dancing in the streets. Earlier I was reading an interview with Werner Herzog discussing his role in the new Star Wars series, and he mentioned turning on Keeping Up With The Kardashians and WrestleMania to get the pulse of pop culture. Now imagine if he had watched Cody-Jericho & the Lights Out Match instead.

And the act is really over so I can’t blame them for running with it. I would rather they have used this time to focus on a short Jungle Boy singles run. But again, the act is over and a lot of fun so who really cares. All I know is Baby Marko needs to learn to walk before he can roar. They wouldn’t have to because Seth Rollins would almost certainly trip over his own banana peel words and fall flat on his face before anyone even reacts to the post.

I mean it's great that they can use everyone effectively and get the maximum impact out of everything, but they could do the same thing with actually talented performers. I love the kid and his act, but Marco Stunt is not ready for this and his jungle boys don't need him at all. I don't think there will ever be a time and a place for Michael Nakasawa, so it's good to know this was probably his ceiling. Avalon doesn't belong on television and the gimmick is one of the worst of all time.
-
It's dumb when Corny says it too and you're just doubling down on the stupid! I get it, I just wish you'd BOTH stop forever. You have great taste but let's not even mention Raven and Sami Callihan in the same thread. One of them was involved in some of the hottest matches, feuds, and angles in wrestling history and the other is a footnote to Cornette's podcast.

Michael Nakazawa, Marko Stunt, Peter Avalon, and Dani Jordan have no business on national television. Wardlow is an incredibly bad name. JR is terrible and 3 voices is too much, it's just too much conversation and constantly. I'm trying to watch wrestling here, not figure out what this old man is trying to say. As great as Jericho and MJF are together, something just feels off about how MJF's turn. And Cody getting heat on him already seems early, even if it set up the...Wardlow debut. Beyond excited for Mox and Allin, but we really don't need another hardcore match this soon, so I hope they're not going that route. But overall I absolutely loved the chaotic nature of this episode.
-
You're welcome. I understand you're using the term ironically and derogatorily. I just think it's stupid and the gimmick has been overexposed. I can't imagine looking forward to anything Sami Callihan does, more power to ya brother.

Cosplay refers to a costumed performer portraying a specific character. No one is doing that here. They're doing that next week on Impact. Anyway, this reboot continues to be the easiest breeze of a watch and is always a lot of fun. Trevor Murdoch is maybe my favorite worker right now for the simple fact that no one else is doing that style...anywhere. The videos hyping ? Mark were everything I've ever wanted from wrestling and the audience sold the gimmick perfectly. The video game, Tony Falk's Wrestling Farm, it's all the stuff of dreams. Basically, I've wanted pro wrestling on Adult Swim for a long time. The actual meat and potatoes wrestling of the show I really really strong, too. Aldis is a credible champion and they've hooked me with the all story weaving. Eddie Kingston is just the absolute best promo. So yeah, anti-comedy video packages, a strong emphasis on promos, and very very little thought paid to go-go-go workrate wrestling. My favorite show right now by a country mile.

Pac is in the category with a guy like Arn or Benoit who will get over on their work rather than on their charisma. Which could be why his push as top contender maybe seems premature to a "new" audience. Page hasn't proven himself either and they've done nothing to highlight his appeal, so they're both sinking ships at the moment. Spears is closer to a good hand like Bob Holly (to pull a JR reference) and is going to be out of place in any push at this point. It really shows when they gimmick the lights and he gets no reaction when they come back on. In fact, they really need to keep the lights on altogether, none of that is landing anymore. Major overkill. Spears, Brandy, the Daniels Jericho parody, the Lights Out Match itself (did they even gimmick the lights for this I don't remember)...overkill.

Personally I enjoyed the match, especially in the context of these two workers in particular closing out an 8 month long feud involving barbed wired weapons and glass table bumps. It's the overlong 3rd act of a Tarantino grindhouse. Not for everyone and certainly not required viewing. If that style of violence is an absolute turn off I would suggest doing something else for 40 minutes. And hopefully they're smart and use this gimmick sparingly from now on.
-
Bored to tears by Britt Baker, Shawn Spears, Adam Page, and Pac. A Darby-Sammy match would have done so much more for everyone than a lot of what they booked. Very excited to see what's next for Cody, MJF, the Inner Circle, and Mox. Still feels like a huge waste of Kenny Omega. Not intrigued by his character at all right now.

We are dangerously close to having a weekly Top 10 ranking for AEW, I can smell it.
-
That was so good I think I'll just watch the replay.

It really stinks that WWE had to push NXT into this position since they almost have to leave Full Sail now in order for the two products to look comparable.
