This match is absolutely phenomenal and doesn't drag at any point. Vic Faulkner is someone who I can't take my eyes off when he's working, someone who I always enjoy. I love the vibe of the match as well, with four blue eyes all being tickled by their opponents antics, but in a way where it didn't detract from the goal of winning the match. ****1/2

[2000-01-03-WWF-Raw] Jeff Hardy vs Al Snow (Cage)
cheapshot replied to GOTNW's topic in January 2000
Starting off my PWO2K participation with this random affair. I have no memory of Al Snow's music at this time. Al Snow nearly kills Jeff with a weird cutter/slam on Jeff from the top of the cage. Agree with GOTNW, Snow's control segments are sleep inducing. Terri Runnels was in the cage throughout this match, just because. Crowd dead throughout this. *3/4- 3 replies

Really enjoyed the show overall, really glad I took the morning off work. Hiromu/KUSHIDA (****1/4) Shibata/Goto (**** 1/2) Tanahashi/Naito (****3/4) Okada/Omega (****1/4) RE Omega vs. Okada. Like Dylan, I felt the match went about 20 minutes long for what was in it. Was still a great match, but simply wasn't for me. People calling it GOAT is a stretch as well, especially when you had a lot of filler at the start of it.

Random Reasons why people stopped watching wrestling
cheapshot replied to Strummer's topic in Pro Wrestling
I stopped watching from 2001-2005 due to going to University and not having any access to watch. That coupled with WCW and ECW folding and changes in Japan made it less arduous. -

For me it was the best tag match in WWF/E company history. I feel Scott is crisp when he needs to be crisp, nothing he or the other three did took me out of the match at all. Maybe it did for you and that was a factor in deciding your final rating. My reasons for why it was ***** that I posted on Twitter (@allan_cheapshot) are as follows: 1. Very likeable faces you want to root for, and heels that get non ironic heat. 2. 2-out-of-3 falls: Guaranteed length to give the match a lot of depth, and chance to tell a story. 3. Greatly executed throughout with very well timed spots. 4. Hot crowd got into it from the start until the finish. 5. Perfect climax with something to fight for in the case of the tag team titles and respect beyond fans and critics alike. 6. World class FIP segment, 7. Convincing near falls. 8. Dawson got some colour. 9. Story that has been building for half of the year while keeping both sides strong and intriguing. 10. Packed with emotion and drama throughout.

605 Podcast Episode 50 - The Doctors
cheapshot replied to BigBadMick's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Anyone who is put off by the "wackiness" should at least skip ahead to the interviews, they are always great The wackiness can be the best part where some great stories come up that have nothing to do with the original line of questioning. I call this section the "lucky dip". -
I Feel Like Quitting Sometimes
cheapshot replied to dkookypunk43's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Don't make the mistake that some podcast hosts do, living just for the present or saying things just for the controversy. -
The first Raw that Sky Sports showed was from September 95, and featured a Sid v Shawn main event (which, famously, was one of the spoilers given away by Bishoff during Nitro's early days). It may or may not have been broadcast on a Thursday evening, before settling into a Friday tea-time time slot. iirc Until about mid 1994, Mania was first shown on Sky One on Friday evenings, then repeated the next day at around mid day.

Burning Spirits #1: DDT Pro-Wrestling
cheapshot replied to drew wardlaw's topic in Publications and Podcasts
A brief history lesson / primer about DDT would have been a useful exercise for some listeners rather than going straight in talking results. Good job overall. -
It odd, it's like we always end up back at Virgil and we don't plan it! He's our unofficial LFK mascot.
