Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4
cheapshot replied to TravJ1979's topic in Pro Wrestling
I love what I've seen wrestling wise of Stampede, but the TV is hard to watch with matches always being JIP and Ed Whalen being the worst commentator ever. I remember some Stampede fans thinking highly of Johnny Smith. I never thought he was that great, but again I haven't watched any of his matches in forever. I may need to go back and watch some of his stuff to see. Also there's no way Ed Whalen is worse than the WOS commentator who was on the verge of an orgasm every time Sayama did a faint spin kick or something along that line. Kent Walton is worse than Ed Whalen? Jesus, Mary and Joseph. My god Edwin, go and see your local Otolaryngologist. -
Some next level heel work here. .

I adore this match. Watched it again last night, and it holds up wonderfully still. The double foot stomps from the top on to Kyoko were absolutely brutal.

I believe this is the match you're referring to: What I was told was there was an idea to turn Koko as he was stale as hell by this point, and they simply wanted to test the waters. Bobby Heenan really made the match by putting over the possibility of Koko as a heel.

I just want to publicly thank everyone for taking the time to listen and to write in questions and praise the show. Honestly, I've been taken aback by it all, and rather humbled. So again, thank you brothers! Lots and lots more shows planned where you'll see more of your listener questions read out and answered on air. (As well as the weekly Chadley question of course!)

Something to add to the discussion about when WWF faded out the hogan type bar cage. It's last appearance on TV/PPV as actually the Rebellion 2001 show in the UK. It was used in the Edge vs. Christian, cage match. I think this may be because they had this type of cage in storage in the UK and it was far less expensive than shipping over the mesh style one that had been used in the previous few years.

I asked Dave this, but I'll see what peoples takes on here are; Should Terrible Ted be on the HoF ballot? Was he an actual draw to the point he'd be in the discussion? Is he simply overlooked or was his drawing as much to do with who he was working against?

Just want to plug the shows I did talking some of the candidates earlier in the year: http://wrestlingeye.libsyn.com Bearcat Wright, Wrestling II, Kerry Von Erich, Jim Breaks, Daniel Bryan & Carístico all given 1hr + discussions. Also #BigDForHoF

Listen to Episode #2 as there's more to it than that.

A friend of the show.

And here's the match in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6mrx3AnvYU

Thank you for listening Chief, and for taking the time to let us know! Much appreciated! I didn't know that re: Heenan saying Douglas looked like Basinger. I always thought Heenan made that reference regarding Perfect, as he has that line on the 1990-11-27 PrimeTime show. We're going to be hopefully looking at guys like Scott Casey and Al Perez et al. in future shows. You know you're more than welcome to write in a question if you wish.

First show, there's always going to be room for improvement. Thanks for taking the time to give us both feedback, I hope you give us another chance with Episode #2.

Hyperthetical: you find Vince's personal diary dating back to 1983
cheapshot replied to Sidebottom's topic in Pro Wrestling
The whole steroid trial from Vince's POV in 1994 would be fascinating. Same for an entry after Savage told him he wanted to leave in 1994. -
I like Chad don't want to go OTT with Omega vs. Naito, but I'm going to anyway. I had it at *****+. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really overly rate Kenny Omega much. However, this match was a masterful performance by both Omega and Naito. I really think the drama of it potentially going to a time limit draw helped it massively for me. 100% a MOTYC and a match I advise everyone to check out.

You could say the same about ROH's relationship with PCW. Nobody from PCW was invited to the ROH World Television Championship #1 Contender Tournament last year. They can't have it both ways.

It's Wrestling Twitter, not IWC. Get with the times Will. -
Nobody mentioned Steiners vs. Money Inc. from the TV before SummerSlam 1993.
