  1. Ziggler would not be a good signing for AEW now, but in a year or two when they aren't signing people every week, he'd be perfectly fine as a surprise to pop the crowd and then work a midcard gatekeeper role with a token World Title reign thrown in. Would that overly excite me? Not really. But they could (and probably already have) done far worse.
  2. No idea who this guy is, but this is pretty funny...
  3. I think Orange Cassidy has one of the best looks in wrestling. It just screams retro cool. But that Chikara slow-mo shit definitely doesn't have legs on a weekly TV show.
  4. That match with Roman and Murphy was straight fire. So was everything with Bryan.
  5. Oh what the hell... Here's the match I had in mind, @Jetlag: Bret Hart vs. Bob Backlund - WWF Superstars (7/30/94) How well does this match hold up today? I honestly don't know. But back then, this was so different from anything else the WWF was putting out at the time that I ate it up and loved it. I thought it was an incredible scientific exhibition, which - again - was really rare for the WWF in that era. And that ending...wow. I won't spoil it if you somehow haven't seen it and/or don't know the history of their feud. Their horrid WrestleMania match a year later makes people think this wasn't an awesome pairing (I still don't understand WTF happened there), but they lit up the ring on Superstars and had a very entertaining match at the Survivor Series a few months after this. DailyMotion (split into two parts, crappy quality, but in English) YouTube (better quality but in French)
  6. To be fair, Iiconics vs. Bellas would have been a fun program. Middling in-ring, to be sure, but entertaining on the mic.
  7. Thanks, @Jetlag. I completely missed that we started another round. I'll get your match to you this week. Update: Actually have a match in mind, but not sure I'm going to assign that one. It's either split into two parts on DM with crappy quality or in French on YouTube. It's inexplicably not on the Network.
  8. Are we grading on a curve now?
  9. What?! It was stilted as fuck, sounded rehearsed to the nth degree, completely unnatural, and generic verbiage straight out of a WWE 2K video game.
  10. Seth is the worst mic worker of the modern era. Jumping Jeff Farmer has more to offer.
  11. Well, Asuka and Sane getting squashed is certainly one way to go about it...
  12. I hope Asuka and Sane break up. Their team sucks, nobody cares about them, they're ice cold as characters, and Paige as their manager fits about as well as Mr. Fuji managing Hulk Hogan would have.
  13. Wrestling fans are degenerate scum.
  14. What I want for Christmas is an insomnia tape with all of Drew's promos.
  15. Rey is officially a jobber now. He rarely wins matches anymore, and usually loses in squash fashion. This could've meant so much more for Andrade than it did and will.
  16. Miz > Seth and AJ, and it's not even close.
  17. Good article about why the Rollins-Lesnar match didn't work. The problems described here highlight what you guys have said about why many Rollins matches don't work. https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2019/8/12/20801662/seth-rollins-brock-lesnar-match-wwe-summerslam-2019 Full disclosure: I didn't see the match.
  18. They quoted Lord Meltzer as the source, and every other site reported the same news.

    AEW on TNT

THIS! It's disappointing that even posters on PWO who should know better sometimes can't grasp this nuance. The first TNA PPV was fairly decent and pretty well-received (much of that was optimism more than anything else). I ordered it, and while I didn't think it was PPV-quality, I thought it was fine as a pilot and weekly TV episode. The second week, which I didn't order because it was taped, was praised for "amazing workrate" (whether that was ever true at the time or still holds up today, I wouldn't know). After that, there were various ups and downs but people still had hope early on. AEW is obviously in a much better situation, so it wasn't a clean comparison by any means, but that doesn't mean there aren't lessons to be learned from TNA's mistakes.
  20. Something that could potentially have a serious negative affect on AEW overseas: WrestleZone: WWE Interested In Purchasing FITE TV
  21. Vin Diesel and Tyrese are CANDY ASSES! The Rock is not.

That's like saying TNA should have gotten a free pass with the Dicks or Johnsons or whatever that gimmick was. The little things matter. The Librarians might actually work if Avalon and Bates embraced their gimmicks and looked more like, ya know, librarians. Instead, Avalon looks like a low-rent pimp cosplaying Joey Ryan at Halloween party. Bates looks fine for "generic indie gal #5" but she doesn't look the part of a librarian. Dark Order has potential, but their aesthetic needs a serious overhaul. AEW has been great IMO, and I am happy, but shit is shit.

All I know about Lowell is that it was once considered the crack capital of the country - at least according to the movie The Fighter.
  24. Weird ending. Responding to online rumors about Murphy?
  25. WWE really should take care of that shit for its wrestlers - like any other half-decent, self-respecting company would do.
