Except for the "whole world in his hands" intro, I love Harper and Rowan's theme. Bit generic, but pretty spot on for them.
-
WWE commentator's sound like everything they're trying to say is purposefully generating a sound byte. At least when they're not crapping on the wrestlers or the angle. Drives me nuts.
-
I'd much rather see Naomi vs. Cameron than Rose vs. Fandango. Not that I think they're going to have a better match, but I at least don't dread the characters.
-
Pretty good card on paper. Looking forward to the tag, Rollins vs. Ambrose, and Swagger vs. Rusev if it gets time.

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Steenalized replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Infectious disease is an apt description for the guy so I don't blame Mutoh. -
I wonder how alienable the shares even are. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't Vince and his family (maybe a few others) hold a separate class with the real voting power?

Didn't read the article so maybe I'm missing something, but why should he have if Barnett was embezzling funds? It just wasn't a wise move on Ole's part. Barnett was respected in the local community and also had a wealth of connections and experience, both inside and outside the business (like Ted Turner). Barnett quickly jumped ship to the WWF, which certainly didn't help Ole's cause in the long run, even though Dave believes Barnett "had nothing to do" with the sale and forcing Ole out in the process. Wisdom or not, I thought Ole was in the right there. Barnett is stealing from the company and a big part of why it was bleeding in the red. Ole stood up to him and said "no, screw you, you don't get to save face, you thief." There's a certain bravado to that which I respect. Yeah, maybe it killed him in the long run, but I still think it's commendable.

The only major sport still going on is baseball, but the Yankees were either away or on the All Star break. The Mets might have been home. Other than that, I don't see any major sports competition.

Ole does come off pretty sympathetic given everything that happened and it sure explains his animosity towards Vince. I didn't know that he strong armed Barnett like that either.

Your personal most Overrated and Underrated

I was gonna say, Brody will always be overrated when he has a best brawler award named after him. -
Your personal most Overrated and Underrated
Steenalized replied to JaymeFuture's topic in Megathread archive
I wouldn't say he is here, but Akiyama stands out as underrated. He often gets left behind the big four of All Japan among many others from the 90s and 00s. He's been my favorite guy on the 00s best of Japan project and he's still killing it today. -

I'm sure there are going to be some awesome matches and they really stacked the line up, but there are too many guys I have zero interest in seeing and who I know will get a lot of air time to make me really hyped for it. -
Quite a few, though not the caliber of greats like some of the guys listed here. Tensai, Saturn and Kronus, Eddie Edwards, seemingly anyone who came from Boston in the 2000s. Edit: But I don't think anyone early enough to qualify for this thread.

That's what I figured. Ambrose losses because of interference or Seth hits him with the brief case or something. It gives a reason for another match without totally looking like a holding pattern as a clean win plus a rematch would.
-
I was fine with last night's finish if Rollins was legitimately hurt. That would be a pretty great audible to build for the main event Sunday. If Rollins' injury was a work, then that's brutal to deny us Ambrose running in for a save.

Will This Be Cena's Last World Title Reign?
Steenalized replied to Fantastic's topic in Pro Wrestling
I'd guess Cena is around for at least five more years and is basically always in or around the title picture by nature of being him, so a few more. -
I put "Terry Funk" into the search function on the WWE network, clicked on the first match, and got Terry Funk vs. Jimmy Snuka in a cage for the ECW TV title. The lack of context probably hurt, but the commentary kept calling this "Funk's last stand." Snuka looks jacked, Funk looks ancient, but he is a Funk. Snuka beats the crap out of on Funk early. Funk's game and keeps trying to box. I love when he does that. He'll lock up if Snuka gets close, but otherwise he keeps the rear hand on his chin and pops the jab. Snuka lowblows Funk but the pain didn't last too long, nor did the effects of a piledriver about 3-4 minutes in. So far it's a real asswhooping. Funk gains super strength when he starts to bleed; now he has the power to throw Snuka around. Funk piledrives Snuka and makes no attempt to win. Instead, he pulls Snuka up and headbutts him a dozen times. Looks pretty bad, largely because Snuka never moves. Must be a hard islander head. The rest of the match is some basic brawling and scraping against the cage. Funk wins by climbing over top and punching Snuka away until he can drop to the floor. I did not know ECW used escape the cage rules, at least at the time. Not a bad use for 10 minutes but not worth looking for.

Very minor thing, but I did enjoy Dave not knowing that "frenemy" is a thing
-
This entire segment has been great, the match could be even better.
-
I'm a big fan, probably my favorite show on the site, depending on how much MMA talk Bryan and Dave are doing.
-
Because it's a house show, Flair gets legend status, and punches really hurt. Notice that one punch put Flair down too.
-
I don't think he desperately needs Heyman, I just think he's better served as the monster who never speaks. Heyman then fills the role of the loudmouth manager that you know is a coward on his own.

No, they dropped that a long while ago unfortunately. That was such a bad ass theme song, but ROH tries to create/license their own themes now. -
I'd credit the team not one guy. Who watches a wrestling show based solely on who's on top? It's a TV show, the supporting cast and quality of the entire show are just as important, if not more important ,as who the top guy is Johnny Sorrow seyz: There are no draws. Now tackle "Workrate dogmatism." I can't get that to sink in yet. edit: Never mind, it was true,, but mean. Answer the question. Has there ever been a wrestling show you watched or didn't watch based only on who he top guy was? Summerslam 2004 when I knew Orton was going over Benoit. My Orton hate started early
