WWF update No. 6 A lot has changed since our last writing... firstly, the offer was verbally agreed upon and a handshake solidified the deal with Hulk Hogan and the WWF/Vince McMahon. That was the 24th of December, now on the 28th of December things have changed again. I am told that the WWF taping of Saturday Night's Main Event has been heavily re-edited. The WWF held shows in Stamford and Providence over the last two days... both were advertised for a Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage main event that turned into Savage defeated Jake Roberts after Hogan was "late to the building" and ended up helping Andre and Duggan defeated Rude, Bundy, & Haku. The biggest issue coming out of the shows was the 28th of December Hogan was said to have another meeting with Vince McMahon that was scheduled at 9:30am EST but it was 10:00am when Hogan left the building. With him, his lawyers. I am told McMahon and Hogan could not come to terms after the contract was written up. Hogan's contract concludes on January 1st, 1989. The WWF is holding a special new years eve matinee on December the 31st in Madison Square Garden. Will that be the last stand for the Hogan/WWF/McMahon saga? Will McMahon be able to get a deal into place? Saturday Night's Main Event will be on NBC this weekend on the 30th... 12/28 the WWF is in Pittsburgh, 12/29 the WWF is in Akron, Ohio... 12/30 Matinee in Atlantic City, and 12/31 Matinee is Madison Square Garden. Hogan is advertised for all four of these shows... with the happenings from SNME...Stan Hansen will not debut... Sherri Martel will not debut... what happens to these two? If Hogan signs... does he get everything he wants... most importantly the title from Savage? Folks... this is gonna be an interesting couple of days.

12/25 Christmas Special Superstars of Wrestling w/ Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura From SummerSlam Demolition vs Powers of Pain w/ Mr. Fuji for the WWF Tag Team Championship The Tag Titles on the line and it is the battle of the paint. Demolition are just so damn over. The POP look the part and they get some extra heat with Fuji. Ax and Smash… what sets them apart from other teams is their ability to sell… and they do it in amazing fashion. Barbarian and Warlord come out of this looking like monsters and they come this close to winning. Just when it looks like things are going to finish… Demolition comes back with a fire.Fuji is getting worried outside the ring… Warlord grabs Smash and holds him… Fuji is up on the apron and swings the cane but Smash moves and Warlord gets ROCKED. Ax clotheslines Barbarian out of the ring and then he and Smash with a double clothesline on Warlord and get the 3-count! Tito Santana vs Rick Martel for the Intercontinental Championship Former partners now become true enemies inside the ring. These two fought a couple of weeks ago at Saturday Night’s Main Event but went to a 20-minute draw. This one's for 30-minutes and these guys have a helluva match. Martel is a true pro and he looks ready for war. Tito is an all pro as well. These two go about 18-minutes… drenched in sweat… move for move and hold for hold. We get into the final series and Tito sets up Martel and goes for the huge flying forest and nails him all the way out of the ring. Tito knows he has to get the pin or submission though.. He goes out and Martel pulls his trunks and Tito goes crashing into the guardrail! Tito has got a busted jaw but Martel throws him back in the ring… he is looking for the Boston Crab but Tito kicks him back into the turnbuckle! Tito gets up and nails him with 3 big shots and then goes to the ropes for the flying forearm but Martel catches him and hot shot him off the top rope! Martel covers for the 1…2….3! Martel retains the title and he looks to have a solid grip on the gold right now. Who could challenge him in the future? From Madison Square Garden The Ultimate Warrior vs The Iron Sheik- The Warrior comes out to a great pop. He looks decent in the ring… even though the Sheik can barely keep up with him. Some big shoulder blocks and then a big splash around 3 minutes and Warrior gets the crowd back on their feet. From SNME Terry Taylor vs Koko Ware A nice opener to get us going and we hear from Vince that it was two nights ago that Terry Taylor busted open Brutus Beefcake with his sheers and Brutus had to get staples and couldn’t wrestle tonight so Koko took his place. Taylor and Koko have a good contest with Taylor showcasing his ability to keep up the pace and sell sell sell for Koko who is flying around. We get about 9-minutes and then we see Koko go for a flying dropkick but Taylor moves out of the way and Koko lands hard! Taylor then with a roll up and a handful of tights for the 1….2….3!!! Taylor attempts to celebrate but it is thwarted when the crowd erupts… here comes Brutus Beefcake! He’s being held back by Pat Patterson and Gerald Brisco… he’s trying to get his hands on Taylor! US TAG TITLE FINALS The Rockers vs the Rougeau Brothers w/ Jimmy Hart Here we go with the big finals of the US tag tournament. These four men have got a lot of momentum and hype going into this one. They get about 15-minutes to put it all out there. Vince and Jesse put it over as one of the all time greatest tag team matches. Jacques and Raymond get the upper hand… they isolate Marty Jannetty… they work the knee and the lower back… they are trying to take away his ability to fly… Michaels gets the crowd going…. There is a feeling in the air… wait a moment… Marty has one more leap left in him and jumps over Raymond before he makes the huge tag to Shawn who comes in like a house of fire. He nails some big shots on Ray and Jacques… Jimmy Hart even gets a shot for his presence. The highlight of the match is seeing the Rougeaus trying to regroup outside the ring but Michaels runs and leaps over the ropes and takes out both men! Michaels is absolutely on fire right now. He throws Ray back into the ring but Jacques is able to slow him down… Marty regains his strength and runs off the apron for a cross body taking out Jacques! Raymond throws Shawn to the ropes and Michaels comes with a leap frog… he waits… Raymond hits the ropes and turns to see Michaels and a huge BOOT TO THE MUSH! What a superkick! Michaels comes with the 1….2…..3!!! The Rockers are the NEW United States Tag Team Champions! From Survivor Series Rick Martel, Tito Santana Brutus Beefcake, Koko Ware, & The Z-Man versus The Honky Tonk Man, Dino Bravo, Greg Valentine, The Great Muta, and Terry Taylor w/ Jimmy Hart Greg Valentine was eliminated via Tito Santana and the flying Forearm! Terry Taylor and Brutus Beefcake were both counted out following a brawl that went into the crowd Koko Ware was eliminated by the Great Muta via the Moonsault The Z-man was eliminated by the Great Muta via the Shining Wizard Honky Tonk Man was eliminated by Rick Martel via a school boy Rick Martel was eliminated by the Great Muta when he was hit with a nasty spinning heel kick Tito Santana was eliminated via the Great Muta and a spectacular moonsault across the ring!

WWF update No. 5 Once again, we have some mixed situations coming out of the WWF. December 23rd, Hulk Hogan tagged with the Ultimate Warrior against Randy Savage and Rick Rude. He was said to be his normal self and running wild. That day I was told that an agreement was made between Hogan and McMahon on a monumental level. Here is what I saw from a photocopy of the contract... 200 Appearances at $10,000 per appearance. Pay Per View appearances are $50,000 plus 15% of total house gate and 15% of pay per view revenue 50% of all Hulk Hogan merchandise - 5% of all total WWF merchandise 40% of all Coliseum home video revenue and 60% of Coliseum Home Videos that are focused on Hulk Hogan. 3 Exclusive movie roles worth $250,000 each plus 15% of theater revenue and 25% of home video revenue. Hulk Hogan will have final say in the creative process for the Hulk Hogan character. Hulk Hogan will have a guaranteed WWF title reign around the release of his upcoming No Holds Barred movie for promotion (plus he's portrayed as champion in the film). I was told that these were verbally agreed upon with a handshake between Hogan and McMahon... but nothing was signed.

Your WrestleCade event is so much better than the 1988 and 1989 Starrcades put together. I kinda wish Eddie had a tv title run - he could have done some fun stuff with that title. I feel like Sting should have been at the US title level in 89 IRL. Doom is looming... gimme the Freebirds to walk out with the US tag titles... Hot Rod doesn't job for anyone.... I don't know if Gary Hart will be the final factor... but I think he will play a role. Luger will become US champ someway/somehow... Dusty is the king of the Bullrope and I don't see him getting dethroned.... is Sting able to beat Flair in 88... he's been built... he has the momentum... I don't know if WCW is ready for all that change though and Flair seems like the best choice to get 1989 going... but it won't be too long for the Stinger.

WWF Update No.4 In perhaps the most shocking turn of events... last night we go to Baltimore for this huge card with Hogan and Andre vs Bundy, Rude, and Heenan. The crowd is bonkers all night. We get the Warrior beating Haku... the Rockers and Demolition exploding in the ring causing them the match, and then Rick Martel and Bossman tore it up to end in a double count out. Around intermission time, Finkel comes out to announce that the Main Event has been changed... here comes Bobby Heenan... he announces that Hulk Hogan had an "accident" getting his rental car and tonight it is going to be 3 on 1 versus Andre because he knows there is no one man enough to partner with him against his family! The crowd is visibly shook... a ton of boos and throwing of debris into the ring. Finkle announced that the fans would receive a 50% refund on tickets if they wanted and to head to the box office. Heenan jumps back on and says he will take everyone's 50% and use it for hospital bills for Andre after their done with him.... Andre shows up in the entryway and says he has got someone in mind to help him... he'll see Heenan in the ring! Okay so now everyone is trying to figure out WTF is going on. We get two more matches including Muta vs Koko that absolutely tears down the house. It is of note that there were about 25% of the fans who left. WWF made sure to pull everyone up and turn down the lights... We then come to the main event... here comes Heenan leading out Haku, Rude, and Bundy. The reminisce of the Heenan Family. Heenan is getting some serious heat now running down Hogan... then we see Andre the Giant come out and the fans pop. Andre says that he has found a partner who will help him with the Heenan Family and smiles... Andre then turns and here comes... the Ultimate Warrior! They shake hands and then come out to the ring and the pop is good but not Hogan good. We get a mediocre 13-minute main event... neither Warrior nor Andre can carry the match but Rude and Bundy do their job.... then of course Heenan comes in for laughs. Andre with a huge toss on Rude out of the ring as he flies into Bundy and Haku! Here comes Warrior with a huge shoulder block on Heenan.... then the BIG SPLASH for the 3-count! Warrior and Andre worked the fans and that was all she wrote. So I went ahead and started to work on the story... it seems as though Hogan did have travel issues and was not able to get to Baltimore but did make his appearances this afternoon. I am said Vince McMahon and Pat Patterson were in attendance for the appearance so it is hard to tell if there are tough feelings going on here. Surely Hogan wouldn't be leaving the WWF... perhaps the top money making wrestling company in the world... or is it that he is the top money draw and without him it wouldn't be as profitable. Who holds the cards? This is a crazy game of poker and I feel we're far away from either man folding their chips.

WWF Update No.3 Has the unthinkable happened? After Hogan left WWF office today... he was spotted going to Vince McMahon's home. I am told he was welcomed by Linda McMahon. Vince then showed up around an hour later. Linda then left an hour after that.... Hogan and Vince were shown shaking hands and both leaving the property around 7:45 eastern. I was able to speak with multiple people who said the man inside the box was none other than Stan the Lariat Hansen! He was supposed to be managed by Sherri and get into a program with Hogan... but for some reason things went sideways... that is for the time being. It is worth mentioning that this situation had happened before and Hogan and Vince have been very close through the 1980s. It comes as no surprise there are creative differences... if that was the case... but I am guessing this was just a ploy by Hogan to get something he wanted... the title? time off? more money? another movie? Who knows... but I think this story has run its course since McMahon and Hogan shook hands. They will be in Baltimore tomorrow night and I plan on being in attendance for the show... it is headlined by Hogan and Andre vs Bundy, Rude, and Heenan in a 2 vs 3 main event. There is also going to be a very exciting 10-man tag with Davey Boy Smith teaming with both the Rockers and Demolition against The Hart Foundation! Ultimate Warrior is taking on Haku. Rick Martel defends against the Big Bossman. Sorry for all the excitement today... just Hulk and Vince being Hulk and Vince.

Updated 2 on WWF situation Hulk Hogan was just seen leaving the WWF offices being escorted by a number of lawyers. Jerry McDivett, chief counsel for the World Wrestling Federation, was even in attendance and said to be very upset once the meeting concluded. McMahon is said to be behind closed doors and only letting his inner circle into the mix. The supposed SNME storyline/angle was shot in front of the crowd and I am told it was going to be a big surprise the WWF was going to unfold. Hulk Hogan starred in the movie No Holds Barred which will be releasing this summer and is said to be a pretty big gamble for the WWF. One of the characters from the movie was said to be recently signed by the WWF and was going to make a special appearance. This was also highlighted by the debut of Sherri Martel... who for now... it seems doesn't have a spot if the angle isn't shown. Meanwhile, during the angle, Sherri revealed her leg from the box and then came out to seduce Hogan into thinking she was the gift only for this monster to come out of the box and destroy Hogan. This led to Randy Savage getting involved. Some fan were unaware of who the man was in the box but I will be seeing a friend later on who will fill me in. Hogan was destroyed in the ring up until Andre and Hacksaw came out and closed things down. Hogan was supposedly very upset after the angle and holding his throat on his way back to the locker room. That is where this whole fiasco started... more to come

We’ve got a big night of action as we will see Hulk Hogan and Hillbilly Jim team up tonight against the Russians! Plus, tag team champions, Demolition, Members of the Hart Foundation… the Powers of Pain… that loud mouth Paul E is gonna be on the Brother Love Show… let’s get it started right now with Big John Studd and Hercules! We got an inset from Heenan who says he has got his family primed and ready for 1989 and it starts with the destruction of John Studd and Hercules! WWF Tag Champs Demolition defeated George Burrow & Nathan Lane - Interestingly enough… the Rockers chime in during Demolitions match as these seeds continue to cultivate. Rockers put over their speed and let Demo know that the contract is ready all they need to do is sign. Dino Bravo w/ Jimmy Hart defeated William Phillips - Jimmy and Dino put over their big showdown with Hogan on SNME. Dino says he is bigger than Hogan… stronger than Hogan… and he’s going to beat him into submission! The Ultimate Warrior defeated Ryane Knight… here comes Bad News to let us know that no amount of paint is going to be able to cover up the cuts and bruises he’s going to give to the Ultimate Warrior! The Powers of Pain w/ Mr. Fuji defeated Quincy Carter & Daryl Dawkins - Fuji says he is reassembling his army and soon his greatest find will be revealed… these are his powers of pain and they will stop at nothing to get him exactly what he wants! Jake Roberts defeated Kyle Erickson - Rick Rude let’s us know he isn’t afraid of Snake, Spooks, or being on Santa’s naughty list. The Big Bossman w/ Slick & One Man Gang defeated Bobby Hughes - While Bossman destroys this poor guy… we hear from Hacksaw as this feud doesn’t seem to be done… or is it? I’ve signed the biggest and baddest and most talented wrestlers in the world… it is going to be time to show everyone exactly what I mean… and it starts with this…. THE GREAT MUTA walks out and he joins Paul E! They shake hands. What in the hell is going on here?! Paul E: You see the dictators at the top of the WWF want to make sure they handpick who goes where… well Muta has shown the world in 1988 that he has no equal. There is no one who can match him in the ring. Tito Santana… you found out at Survivor Series… but at Saturday Night’s Main Event you’re going to find out again but this time… this time there may not be a second chance for you. You see Tito Santana… for all your accolades as a wrestler… they mean nothing when it comes down to what happens inside the ring and inside the ring the Great Muta is the best this world has to offer and we’re not just going to beat you… we’re not just going to destroy you… we’re going to humiliate you right out of the WWF. This is the man of 1989 and the world is going to see why!

Insane story coming out of the WWF... As many readers know the WWF is a post production type broadcast with multiple matches taped and then produced for television. Well the same can be said about shows like Saturday Night's Main Event. Outside of the Hogan/Savage cage match, these are generally taped and then produced for NBC's broadcast. Well that happened over the weekend and then everything changed on Sunday. We're being told that a huge angle was shot in front of the fans and was also alluded to on WWF programming this week... but the result of the angle ended up being the last straw in a series of events that may sever one of the strongest ties in the WWF... Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan. It is of no surprise that Hulk Hogan and the WWF coincide with one another and have for the longest time. One of the biggest stars in professional wrestling and one of the smartest minds have taken the WWF to heights never imagined. Over the last five years, Hogan and McMahon have made the most powerful tag team in wrestling. One piece of that partnership was the contracts and how Hogan and McMahon had a handshake agreement but always upped the ante each year... well that seemed to have changed over the weekend. It was reported that once the SNME taping portion of the show was held, Hulk Hogan stormed out of the building with his cohort and left the arena. McMahon was said to be visible shaken by the event and even went after him until Hogan left the building. Brisco and Patterson were said to be the ones to calm McMahon down. Reports from the WWF Headquarters have said that Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon were meeting on Monday the 18th at 7am eastern. We're waiting on reports from that meeting and will update you as soon as we hear any news.

Starrcade was a showcase for damn sure. Sorry it took so long to get to it. Garvin, the Road Warriors, and Wahoo obviously jump out as major players to kick off the year of 1989. The article also is a great way to keep everyone in the loop about what is going on. One thing that I have loved about the NWA is the consistency. Right now there's a nice list of guys who have name value who will be headlining a lot of the shows with some others who have some legit star power and ability. 1989 was a great year in terms of wrestling for the NWA but with the inclusion of WCW it was just different enough. Here, I think you've proven to be a commodity in our world of wrestling and one that continues to deliver and keeps all of us afloat. Thank you!

Tremendous use of international talent on this card as a way to present a bigger show feel for the fans. AWA is all but in the shitter in 1989 IRL but here you've got an influx of talent on top of this hype with some really fun names. I personally love the Larry Z stip against Orndorff who could definitely still go at this point. Kerry and Terry is something that blew the south on its heels and might just do the same thing here. 1989 Nikita could have been interesting if he got back on the juice. Here... champion... big time monster... part of me wants to see Gordy and Nikita have a clash or two down the line and see who walks out of that ordeal... there's also some merit to a bigger Japanese invasion with some of the gaijin like a Gordy and Vader joining them. Lots can happen here and I am pumped to read it.

The true fan is the one out there camping for tickets and then asks to get chopped by Takada. Also... kudos on Karelin... to legit baddest dude on the planet for a LONG time... if you don't know who he is... look him up... and know... he is a real life terminator.
-
Hey Roddy and Terry... here's a microphone... do work... and they did it. WrestleCade is going to be something spectacular when all is said and done. 1989 was a banner year for Luger IRL and Sting who came into his own in a huge way. Flair is no slouch though... dude had an amazing 89 and could still turn it on at anytime... add in Funk, Dusty, Piper... damn now we're talking. I appreciate this thing with Humungous... always a fun gimmick in my eyes... looking forward to what WCW can accomplish in 1989 and who rises to the top of a very full pool of talent.
-
I love Liz and I love she's getting a chance to shine here. Awesome job with the local promos... i did that a long time ago and miss the complex simplicity of the small territory. We've got new tag champs... way to finish the night strong...

I am on the mendish... 12/11Superstars of Wrestling w/ Vince McMahon & Jesse the Body Ventura Hot opening this week on Superstars as Jesse and Vince are going back and forth on who the rightful number one contender is. Vince says it is Hogan but Jesse says it is Andre… Andre gets the shot in a couple of weeks but we’ve got a huge night of action lined up including a Brother Love segment with the Macho Man! Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart defeated Kenny Phillips via the Figure Four Leg Lock The Powers of Pain w/ Mr. Fuji defeated The Darby Brothers via top rope shoulder block. Hercules defeated George Hill via the Torture Rack Brutus Beefcake defeated Bob Jacobs. We got an inset interview from Terry Taylor who said he is going to be the one who does the strutting and cutting on Beefcake if he’d ever sign to fight him in the ring! Tito Santana defeated Hiro Tanaka. Tito talked turn the match towards Muta and how this will be a true test of his abilities and how he won’t stop until he shows Muta who the rightful champion in the people’s eyes is! Davey Boy Smith is riding solo and defeated Erick Strong. Haku & King Kong Bundy w/ Bobby Heenan vs Z-Man & Koko Ware is a pretty fun tag team encounter. Bundy has a little bit of a resurgence here in the later part of 1988 due to LowBlow getting his wrestling figure from Zombie Sailor. With that… he and Haku make a formidable team while the speed of Zenk and Koko is almost too much to be matched. In the end, Heenan finds a way to distract Koko which leads to Bundy avalanching Zenk in the corner before Haku nails him with a savat kick and gets the 3-count! Brother Love show with WWF Champion Randy Savage is quite the doozy. Savage is decked out and looks amazing as the champion. He and Brother Love highlight all the top stars from Hulk Hogan to Jim Duggan to the Ultimate Warrior then to Andre the Giant. Savage says he has got a big present for Hulk Hogan at Saturday Night’s Main Event. It is going to be something that he’s been wanting to give him for a LONG time! Savage tells Andre to listen up closely… maybe the words take a while to get through that giant skull of his but he better understand that the time of the Madness has come. The reign of Madness is upon all the world and the world has to bow down to the champion. I am a giant of a man not only in stature but also is attitude. My presence is bigger than the presence of any one man or group of men in the entire world. Andre the Giant is going to find out that the Macho Mean is the true giant of the WWF… the true warrior of wrestling… and the only champion there ever has been or ever will be… DIG IT! That brings out the big man who shows no emotion towards Savage… he even pushes Brother Love aside and grabs the microphone… Andre: I do my talking in the ring… but I will say this to you now… oh boy you are in trouble! Andre throws the microphone at Savage who sells it huge… Andre and Savage at SNME… what a night it is going to be and what is this present that Savage has got for Hogan?!? Event Center with Mean Gene… he is highlighting SNME coming up in a couple of weeks. Rick Rude: Jake Roberts… you are nothing but a snake in the grass… well it is just too bad that the Ravishing one will mow it all down just I like I do with the ladies and show the world what you really are. A long… pathetic… worm. You know something Jake Roberts… i don’t even know if you’re worth the Rude Awakening when the time comes… it may be best to just cut your head off and leave you lay in the middle of the ring! Jake Roberts: Cut my head off huh… well Rick Rude it wouldn’t surprise me if you knew the head from the tail… but don’t worry… there won’t be any sneaking… slithering… nothing… just me walking down the aisle… going face to face with you and brother only one man will be left standing… I just don't know if you got the legs for what Damien and the DDT will do to you. Dino Bravo w/ Jimmy Hart - Hulk Hogan says he has the power of all the Hulkamaniacs…well too bad that is all harnessed in the palm of my hand. Hogan… I am going to smash you up into millions of pieces so all of your little Hulkamaniacs can share a piece of what is left! Hulk Hogan: The power of the Hulkamaniacs is immeasurable Bravo… at Saturday Night’s Main Event… I am going to harness that power and show you a fraction of what Hulkamania truly is. Know that when all is said and done… I am going to Rock the Hart Foundation to it very core and Jimmy Hart… don’t think for a second I am going to forget about you. But when the foundation crumbles… and you’re about to be sucked into the unforgiving earth… reach up Dino Bravo and Jimmy Hart and see if you have what it takes to be saved like all my Hulkamaniac because WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN HULKAMANIA DESTROYS THE WORLD AROUND YOU!!! Bad News Brown: Haha… the Ultimate Maniac… paints his face… yells… screams… you got all those little ropes around your arms… well Warrior… I don’t play none of these games boy. You want to chant and holler for your gods… well when you look at me you are looking at the man who is going to bring you face to face with him. I have no plans to take it easy. I have no plans to make it fun. I have one plan and that is to END YOU! Ultimate Warrior: Behold the power in the palm of my hand… the power of the warriors has no limits or boundaries… the hatred that fills your heart Bad News Brown is just the seed… the fuel that drives the love in all of my warriors and it is that love that will be the ultimate sacrifice…. For Saturday Night’s Main Event will be the arena that all the wrongs in the world will be made right and I will show the world that I WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO RISE TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN!

12/4 Prime Time Wrestling w/ Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby Heenan Prime Time opens with Gorilla and Bobby celebrating the holiday season. Gorilla goes right into Heenan and asks about the situation with John Studd to which Heenan says he is trimming the fat of the Heenan Family and he’s going to make sure that the 1989 Heenan Family is unbeatable. Gorilla wonders what Heenan’s going to do when Hercules and Studd come after the family?!?! Heenan plays dumb but we’ll see. We’ve got a fun night of action headlined by Demolition taking on the Russians… right now it is time or the one… the only…. Ultimate Warrior! The Ultimate Warrior defeated Ryan Browne - Bad News Brown was interviewed and let the Warrior know that his little facepaint is going to be dripping like blood when all is said and done. He isn’t afraid of spooks and specters… he has got all he needs to put the Warrior and his little demons down for good! Honky Tonk Man w/ Jimmy Hart defeated Bobby Matthews - Rick Martel was interviewed as he put over the issue with Honky Tonk Man. They will meet at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the end of the month and Rick Martel says he is going to be the one taking Honky to heartbreak hotel! The Steiner Brothers defeated Los Conquistadors - Sullivan and Rotundo cut a promo about Rick and Scott saying that if they won’t join the Varsity Club and do what they want they will beat the idea into them. Event Center: Gene puts over a couple of big weeks of WWF action as we head into 1989 and the Royal Rumble in January. 30-Men all for themselves and what a night it will be. Our next stop is going to be Saturday Night’s Main Event though and on that night we’ll see WWF Champion Randy Savage defend the title against the 8th Wonder of the World Andre the Giant! Randy Savage - Fee - fi - fo - fum… I smell the end of the Giant one. I am the true Giant of the WWF Andre and this title right here says I am on top of the mountain and the one who rules the roost. I am going to put this elbow right into your chest and destroy every sense of your life. I am the Giant. I am the Ruler of the WWF. I am the WWF Champion. I am the MACHO MAN! Andre the Giant: Randy Savage… I am going to say it simple… once I get my hands on you… I will never let go! Mean Gene puts over the SNME coming up and we’ll see Rick Rude taking on none other than Jake the Snake Roberts…. Rick Rude: You may walk around with that python in the bag but understand this Jake Roberts… I am the one who is going to choke you out… I am the one who’s going to wrap the sexiest bicep in the world around your throat and when you wake up it will be nothing but a Rude Awakening! Jake Roberts: You know its funny what the human mind can come up with. I mean here’s Rick Rude… the most Ravishing Man in wrestling right… well Rick Rude I am no man to be trifled… I am no man to be intimidated and Rick Rude you will find out I am no man to be played with… you want to talk about Rude Awakenings… brother wait until you see the lights from the DDT and then you tell me what it is all about! Mean Gene then talks about another big match for SNME as Hulk Hogan will go up against Dino Bravo! Jimmy Hart and Dino Bravo - put over their match with Hulk Hogan and say they are going to break every rule in the book to put an end to Hulkamania once and for all… FOREVER! Hulk Hogan: Well you know something… all my Hulkamaniacs out there have seen what 1988 has done to Hulkamania but now is the time to end the year on a bright note and start 1989 with the biggest bang we can. I can’t think of a better way to do that than to beat the living tar out of that good for nothing Dino Bravo. Jimmy Hart you and your Foundation better be ready to be shaken to the core so WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN HULKAMANIA RUNS WILD ON YOUR! Great Muta defeated Kyle Williams - Tito Santana pipes in on the match and talks about the mystery of Muta but the consistency of Santana… he says that anyone can flash a pan but very few can keep it is hot as he has for as long as he has… Twin Towers defeated Bobby Holly & Savio Vega - Slick cuts a promo on Demolition to let them know that the Towers are next in line for a tag team title shot and if anyone is in their way they will put them down to get the gold! Terry Taylor defeated Mac Thompson- Brutus Beefcake chimes in to let us know that Terry Taylor could use a cut here… a trim there… maybe some color… ome volume… one way or another… Terry Taylor has a date with the barber! Brother Love Show w/ The Rockers is a pretty fun segment with the Rockers playing the opposite of Demolition a couple weeks ago. This time they put over their US tag titles and talk about the challenges of the Rougeaus, the Russians, the Powers of Pain, and then the world champions, Demolition. The Rockers say that these titles mean a lot and silver tastes good… but gold tastes better and they can’t wait to have their chance in the ring with the champs! Demolition vs the Russians -A good main event with the Russians getting in just enough offense to keep it interesting - but Ax and Smash are on another level. We get a lot of back and forth between Gorilla and Bobby about how the Rockers and Demo would be a main event anywhere in the country. Bobby doesn’t think the teenie boppers could pull it off but Gorilla says their speed is unmatched. The decapitation device is all she wrote and the tag champs reign supreme. When will these two teams come to head? No pictures again - Influenza A is kicking my ass. I am sorry about the lack of content and feedback.

11/27 Prime Time Wrestling w/ Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby Heenan Prime Time opens with Gorilla and Bobby at the set. They both put over the huge night we had at Survivor Series. Bobby points out how dominant his team was but Gorilla also points out how no member of the Heenan Family survived. Bobby says it isn’t about survival. Gorilla yells at him that it is the name of the event! Regardless… lots of action tonight… we’ll see Brother Love… that disgusting piece of trash… he is going to have a special guest… the tag team champions… Demolition! Plus we’ll see the Rockers, Twin Towers, Bad News Brown, Terry Taylor and so much more… let's head to the ring for our opening contest. The Z-Man & Koko Ware defeated Lukas Williams & Ryane Sims via the top rope drop kick! Gorilla and Bobbby put over the tag division and Heenan says he is on the cusp of the greatest signing in the history of the Heenan Family. Gorilla questions who it will be but Heenan won’t budge. Heenan says this is a signing that will change the scope of 1989 for the Heenan Family and get them right where they belong. We’ll see… let’s go to the ring! Terry Taylor defeated Mike Roberts - Inset interview from Brutus Beefcake who says that the Survivor Series was simply another step in the long line of getting his hands on Terry Taylor. He says he will do exactly what he wants when he puts Taylor to sleep and not even the roosters will wake him up! The Twin Towers defeated the Killer Bees Brother Love Show w/ Demolition - Brother Love brings out the tag champions. They put over the Survivor Series match, they put over the tag team division… but then Brother Love starts to push a couple of subjects. One being the Twin Towers as possible contenders for the titles. Demolition say they would love to see the Towers in the ring so they could break them both down one by one! Love then puts over The Rougeau Brothers… Demolition says they will crunch them up and ship em back to where they belong in no time flat… Then Brother Love points out the Rockers. Demolition hmm and hawww… but then put over the Rockers as a great team but they aren’t the best team. The best team is the ones who hold these belts. They are solid gold. Rockers… what you’ve got was earned through blood, sweat, and tears but if you want these… it is going to take a lot more than that! The Rockers defeated Los Conquistadors Gorilla and Bobby are back putting over the Survivor Series and this impending showdown with the Rockers and Demolition. Gorilla thinks the speed of the Rockers is unwavering… Bobby says the strength of Demolition will be too much… time will tell… right now we have Bad News Brown in action! Bad News Brown defeated Bob Holly - Inset interview from the Ultimate Warrior who pumps up this issue with Bad News. Warrior says Bad News lives by no rules and has no boundaries therefore he can travel through space and time without consequence but I, the Ultimate Warrior, the officers of justice in the outer realm will do whatever needs to be done in order to achieve safety for all the little warriors! The British Bulldog defeated Ken Simmons - Interesting one here… Jesse and Vince are on commentary and they put over the British Bulldog as trying his hand in singles competition. They talk about him wanting to branch out and become a great singles wrestler! Gorilla and Bobby talk about Bulldog being on his own. Gorilla says he got word that Bobby has one less family member… Heenan takes a moment to tell Big John Studd that he has been fired from the Heenan Family and his services will no longer be needed. Gorilla is flabbergasted… let’s go to the ring King Kong Bundy w/ Heenan defeated Brady Roberts & George Wright - Bundy with the 2 on 1 victory but then we see John Studd come out and he grabs Heenan by the shirt. Wait a minute. Here comes Haku and Rude! They attack Studd! Bundy gets out of the ring and they toss Studd in. They are putting the boots to him and Bundy goes for an Avalanche! Wait a minute… Hercules runs down to the ring with the chain and he breaks up the action. The crowd is going wild here as Studd is hurt in the middle of the ring and Hercules has come to save him. Heenan is making it known who is with him and who is against him! Gorilla is back and Heenan is nowhere to be found... Gorilla says we'll hear from John Studd next week... we got a big main event though to cap off the night... let's go to the ring! Dino Bravo, Honky Tonk Man, & Greg Valentine w/ Jimmy Hart vs Hillbilly Jim, Tugboat Thomas, & Maniac Matt - A fun six man with the crowd eating everything up. We see Hillbilly really work the fans as Maniac Matt and Tugboat do more of the in ring work if you want to call it that. Dino is the one who shines here and really looks good. Honky gets the heat. Valentine gets the work in. In the end, we see Jimmy Hart toss in the megaphone to Honky who nails Tugboat on the back of the head and then Bravo picks him up for the big SIDEWALK SLAM! The Hart Foundation celebrate with Jimmy as Tugboat looks to be in a bad way... we see Hillbilly talking to a very goofy looking fellow in the crowd... oh man... the hillbillies have arrived! No pictures again this week - sorry... so overwhelmed and busy.

This is a stack card. About it is that there’s still be stories and wind and it is the combination of many things but also keeping things going. I feel that’s where NWA had it right for Starcade and WWF kind of has it wrong for survivor series. I love the survivor series, but in reality is a placeholder pay-per-view that doesn’t really end anything but rather keep going and going up against a show like this wouldn’t farewell if they just looked at each other, head to head.
