So Kane and Big Show are blowing holes open in the middle? ha! Have they done a WWF(E) football game yet? So many ways to start feuds.. Watts did this and I've just missed it somehow right?

Business was good in a lot of places before Vince Jr made his big push. But the decline from the 50's-60's golden era was fairly apparent at the time. Certainly to the offices and areas run by people who came up during that time. But no where near death's door tho. If Vince Jr saved wrestling, then wrestling needed less people and the middle class of wrestling to be crushed to survive. Which it didn't. Any, and all problems, that may or may not have been survivable, were just exacerbated by Vince Jr's plans.

WWE doesn't even need a money program. Not sure there's been one in ten years, and they've done just fine. Wrestlers don't necessarily need one either.

Pretty much. 85-91 is more an aberration than the norm. Tag wrestling was incredibly hot, and I always chalked it up more to the WWF giving it a go. Is that time period in general a kind of golden age for self contained teams? Usually tag teams don't get as much focus historically, so I'm not really sure. But I think there is something unique about US tag wrestling at the time.

Who knows? But there's still plenty of non Vince Jr wrestlling out there. Even after 30+ years. If Vince doesn't go national, wrestling would not have perished. Vince had the TV and an infrastructure no one could match. Some sold to Vince, some tried to compete. Would the territories that failed at going against Vince succeeded w/o his opposition ? The Golden Age of the wrestling had already long passed by the time Vince Jr took over, it's true. The territories had their own set of problems, also true. But I don't think the game goes under without him. Will it when he dies? Heh, I may be over shooting on the point you were trying to make.

Wrestling would still be around w/o Vince. Vince's greatest achievement is beating the boom bust cyclic trends in wrestling. By taking it national, he was no longer was stuck with hot or cold towns. Just a hot or cold national economy. This is where he beat the territories. Some were in trouble, some were not.. The only real threat was the AWA. And the only territory Vince really killed.

I don't think WWE knows quite what they're doing with NXT either. Seems lot a lot of groundwork with an uncertain future. I'd think they'd be more upfront and talking up it's purpose, if it was more clearly defined. On RAW you work the camera. At house shows you work the crowd.

This why HHH makes comments about internet fans. To get responses like this. Thanks man! I'm sure he'll be glad to know someone out there gets it. Thanks for what? HHH makes comments so people can talk about how he works people. It's a hallmark of his, and the Kliq in general.

Truly. If you're worried about injuries, a huge multi man ladder match seems excessive. If they de push over injury fears, then put someone in a match like this ? heh seems like a strange logic

I'd like to watch some O'Reilly singles matches. Any recommendations?

The Washington Post isn't going to run with the story. It's not like they have a reporter on it. It's from their sportsy culturey blog, which almost no one reads or is aware of. Except when WWE is mentioned. Then it'll show up in their top 5 web stories for a short bit. Guessing that's mostly wrestling fans clicking in. Demott gone is story over, unless there's a lawsuit. And Demott's resignation makes that unlikely. His return may not be so likely either.

.Money and exposure on the indies has steadily gone up in the last ten years. It's been incremental, but the gains from the indie infrastructure are there. Which is a big question if NXT is going to tour or be a promotion or something. Can it make money? As R&D, it's sunk cost. As a new brand there needs to be return on revenue. The fact that no one can discern what NXT's supposed to be is kind of funny. But it's definitely about developing HHH as a P, or at least the idea he's one. Outside of that, I'm not sure most know what purpose NXT is serving now.

I never said wrestling was a real sport. I said it was presented as a real sport to the fans. No need for insults I'm not insulting you. I'm disagreeing with you. You called him crazy. Also, you're missing the mark here. He's speaking about presentation. How wrestlers presented as mixture of heroes and villians within their sport. Even tho the audience knew the distinction between pro wrestling as sport. And the layers of seriousness within pro wrestling. As an aside.. Jarret's Memphis, much like the WWF(E), has always taken heavy knocks for it's cartoonish presentation. What about the Frankenstiens Monster in LA or the wrestling bear in multiple territories? None of that could be considered a serious sport in presentation, and they all took place without any involvement from Vince Mcmahon, Jack Pfefer was exposing wrestling as a massive con and making a ton of money from it long before Vince was even born. This isn't about exposing the business, or people thinking it's a shoot. It's about aesthetic and presentation. And I think everyone can see there are differences to fans. It's funny, this argument over Vince Jr has been going on for so long.. Vince not treating wrestlling as a sport has always been part of it. And the mention of "sport" tends to side track it here. It can obfuscate the point. Is the a folder for the wrestling bears in The Microscope? Anyone got mad wrestling bear knowledge.. send me a message!

Depends. If WWE thinks a lawsuit may be coming.. I wouldn't be so sure. But I'd be surprised if anything happens.

The Embassy and Prince Nana were the kind of fun only wrestling can provide. Always puts a smile on my face. -
So, Bryan is the mid card carpenter they always wanted him to be. The End.

I'm sure we can dis agree on what makes for good TV. But, I'm taking your statement as pure hyperbole.

Rey - Eddie feud was great TV. Not even talking about matches. Rey had a ten year upper-card-babyface-only run in WWE, without ever really being the true #1 guy. Kinda unique in the modern era. Whatever he does next, he's sure to be remembered and appreciated by many.

To anyone who doesn't follow wrestling closely, I'm sure his resume blows everyone else out the water. You can understand why people would meet with him. But.. If I was a wrestler, I'd be getting TNA weekly ppv tapes to the bosses ASAP. ha!

Which is more important.. the title for Bryan ? or the angles and matches ? Is the title only important because of the angles and matches that come with it ?

Bulgarian, not Belarusian. oh hell.. that's even better!
