  1. The Nevada Athletic Commission is the same athletic commission that covers all boxing in the state. There might be some exceptions, but as far as I know the state athletic commissions that regulate boxing regulate MMA. True, they are the same. I'm just wondering if they do business the same. UFC did business before they started working with the Nevada Athletic Commission. Working with the Nevada AC is an important step in their growth, opening up communication and contacts with other AC's. Not sure if the AC's work the sport, or just UFC.
  2. maybe it's not a thing in the UK? It's not. It's a US marketing thing tied to a large population swell. It's clearly undefined for a reason.
  3. If you had to binge watch a year of WWE, choosing from 2005 til now.. What would it be?
  4. But no one does unsanctioned fights like wrestling! Seriously tho, what would the real world blowback be like? Are the athletic commissions deeply imbedded into MMA ala boxing now? Apologies, most of my current MMA exposure is from wrestling boards.. Ha!
  5. Oof! Didn't know about Wanderlei's lifetime ban. Thought maybe they'd be working towards a 2016 bout or something. I have no idea what the implications of WWE trying to promote an unsanctioned MMA bout would be. There's money on the table, Athletic Commission is in the way, seems like calling the Wrestlers isn't a bad idea.. But as a match inside the self proclaimed WWE Universe just seems beyond wacky. Wanderlei the Worker! Probably just some exploratory conversations going on, but I'd be amused to read the ideas WWE or Sonnen are coming up with. Feasible or not.
  6. Name of worker: Archie Gouldie Promotion (and year): Stampede 1983 Link to promo: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2qcDVn3qyyA Why you think it's great: A powerful, direct promo. I'm not sure Archie ever quite gets to yelling, but there is no doubt that every vessel of blood in his body has reached a menacing boil. He leaves no doubt as to why, and no doubt as to what's coming for Bad News. Plain spoken, but very effective. I'm ready to pay before he's even done.
  7. Any chance that WWE would promote this as something seperate from their normal output? I know they've dabbled in the past. As a fight promoter they do have a lot of the necessary tools at hand. Non PPV event ? Great way to goose network subs? Just thinking outloud here.
  8. Yes, Angle had a promo where he mentioned wanting to have "beastial" or "beastiality" style sex with her. They wanted Angle to be heel at the time, but the fans weren't really having it. They tried a couple different ways to get the fans to boo him. Can't remember if anything worked.
  9. It is sold out. It's supposed to be at the LC Amphitheater. It's an outdoor concert venue, with a lawn. 5,500 capacity for concert events. Usually pit seats and lawn seats, and from the ticket layout, I'd guess the ring will be where the pit seats usually are. No idea how many tickets sold, but there's room at that location to sell more. Also is being co-promoted by Arnold. Not sure if there were tickets packages including the NXT show. Was this promoted on NXT in any way? Was there local promotion for the event? Why are they bringing all these guys to a bodybuilding competition/convention where WWE is going to try and recruit?
  10. How many times have you read this phrase in 15+ years wrasslin fans ? Still marvel that this was a thing. Katie Vick was at the top of the card tho, wasn't it? But it's a real sum up point for that time. A good many fans decided it was time to broaden their wrestling horizons. The internet's increasing speed was only there to help. Not surprised to see it cited here frequently. Or reading about people finding Strong Style Symphony in the early 2000's. It's deeply woven into people's histories for many reasons. You can't put it in a vacuum of objectivity easily for a lot of people. Which is why it's worse than the hand, or the weird JR skits, or take your pick..
  11. Begging for change, has turned to begging for Bryan. I swear, some would follow him right back to kayfabe.
  12. Great talkers, good look [in the sense that they are easily identifiable and stand out], good workers who would have got even better reigned in by the WWE style. Not as if they have a stacked tag division. I don't think they get to do their own promos in WWE. They lose a lot in character without them. Which is really their distinguishing point. The other tools they bring, I could see WWE finding that in others. Still, WWE did reach out. I think the Twitter thing is a myth. Things like, bringing Bucks and Briscoes to feud and one drops out, OR can't work wednesday house shows, got chickenkillingnight, seem more likely.
  13. I wonder how much crossover between WWE and Viacom there is these days. On a corporate level. Example - https://www.linkedin.com/in/joelalley
  14. What are they drawing in CoCoa Beach? I'm more interested in their March show in Ohio. HHH as a P amuses me to no end.
  15. Maybe HHH can get real hands on and go to NXT so he can develop as a promoter. When's their first road show?
  16. Which is why, as a man of his time.. He is unlikely to reach the top. I think barring a sudden cultural shift, we've already seen the best of what we'll get. But hey! If DB gets there and stays there, maybe the shift is a foot..
  17. They don't want us to know, they think we'll find it exciting and keep us interested. Also, likely they don't know either. Sometimes I think they've got some purposeful Attitude era recreation thing going on. And banging out their own dirt sheet newsmews is some goofy part of it. Just sometimes. heh
  18. WWE was interested in doing business with both teams at some point. Bucks prefer they're current schedule and income is mostly what I've read. Not sure about the Briscoes. Think there's some myth floating around about why, involving Twitter posts. I think they may have been closer to actually doing something with WWE. If you're not gonna let them talk their talk, not sure why'd WWE want em.
  19. I don't have to follow the WWE, it's omnipresent if you read about wrestling online. It's always there. I will say this, I only find myself online when WWE is ever so slightly generating interest. I tend to keep an eye on it for a bit.. but I usually fade out. I'm actually surprised how long I've stuck around the last three years. I don't even concentrate on WWE when I do come back, there's always so many other promotions and matches and history to catch up on. I only find myself focusing on it right before I step away. Diehard casual fan. ha! Only real long break I took was after watching the movie, The Wrestler. It seemed to cap the horrific run of deaths up to that point, and the desire to be involved just cold turkey stopped.
  20. Who makes the next stars? ROH or Gabe? It's probably just a bunch of different practical reasons tho, and likely undramatic. The indie scene is kind of wide open, and with the availability of footage, there's different avenues if you wanna get noticed by WWE. Not to mention the wrestlers who don't have that goal. Makes for some different choices over the last couple years.
  21. Stephanie vomits on Vickie last year on RAW. Trashy?
  22. Joining the WWF and leaving WCW at the right time was what put him better off. Who knows if a different gimmick could have been successful, or not.
  23. Trolling. I know that gets used in reference to HHH and Steph as performers here and there. But I don't think it's something the company is actively doing. It'd be a terrible business strategy. Trolling, like spam, has been the bane of online discussion from the get-go. It's destroyed message boards and online comminities left and right. There is no money in trolling, and the entertainment value is pretty low. Even more so, if you're trolling your audience, and you are a heel, you just put the heat between the heel and the crowd. The crowd can't pin a heel ? So.. huh ? I don't watch enough WWE TV to know if that's exactly what's happening. But to me, the Kliq has always had strange ideas on the psychology of heat. And trolling wouldn't be far off that line.
  24. That's part of it. You can't keep having a guy in the TV main event, who consistently delivers, and then jerk him out when it comes to the big shows. I mean you can, but eventually you'll pay a price. WWE is feeling that now, this is the end result of booking like that, and they've pushed themselves into a corner with a chunk of their fanbase. I sort of understand when you read tidbits/rumors about WWE thinking it's not Bryan that's really over. But if that's true, then Bryan is some kind of conduit for fan dis-content? I think there's some truth to that. But it didn't happen with anyone else. Their audience chose him. They saw ten years of the mid card being destroyed, politics getting in the way, big matches missed, and non logical wrasslin feuds. And giving DB that quick loss to Shamus pretty much lit all those feelings and frustrations up. And a lot of folks thought "Nope, we're putting our foot down, not again." And with DB the audience thought they'd found someone impeccable. He ticks so many boxes for fans. As pluses, but also as a reminder of all the things WWE goofed this century. Sometimes I chuckle, if they had just given that match with Shamus ten-twelve minutes.. none of this would've happened. It's their booking, they made their own problem.
  25. HHH threw Vince under the bus? He throws their dad/boss under the bus on their own corporate platform.. bizzare. This is all meta storyline they hope to manipulate. Just a waste of resources. If they want to cover their own product like the other direct networks, they'd be better served interviewing their talent over their office.
