And here's an endorsement that may at least help give the film some more attention: https://people.com/adele-says-the-iron-claw-was-her-favorite-movie-of-2023-blown-away-by-zac-efron-8546957

Now here's a real oddity, Hogan vs Meng on WCW Pro: Up until the "hulk-up" sequence, Hogan's offense actually resembles his "Hollywood/nwo" stuff in this one.

I said this elsewhere, it would have been better if in 1982, Vince Sr. just gave the company to Monsoon and Albano (I think he was in line for succession) and have them be co-owners. If Albano still meets Cyndi Lauper, they still go mainstream while Vince is still a lowly announcer in a yellow coat.

(If this belongs somewhere else, please put it there) In this thread we discuss all the wacky random stuff we find from WWF/E, WCW, AEW b-shows. Stuff like Worldwide, WCW Saturday Night post-1995, Power Hour, All American Wrestling, Heat, Shotgun/Metal/Jakked, Velocity, AEW Dark, and such. I'll start with this odd pairing, Raven vs Kaz Hayashi from WCW Worldwide: This is a pretty well known match actually due to the insane bumps Kaz took, and even though it's short, it definitely made me wish both men had had a longer match in the company, sadly, they never met up again AFAIK. Feel free to share and discuss any oddball stuff from b-shows as well.

Over The Edge 98? What bad thing happened there?

It's a shame that Ted Turner is in no condition to do interviews, as he would have been a perfect interview subject for Black Saturday.

I wonder if by being on Netflix, they'll be able to start using licensed music, due to having a bigger budget. Maybe we'll see Bron make his main roster debut to Welcome to the Jungle. On a more cynical note, now I'm wondering if they'll just keep the belts on the current champs and wait until the Netflix premiere, no major title changes at Wrestlemania or anything (which means we get ANOTHER record broken by Roman).

Hot take, but I'd say matches that are considered "throwaway" hold up better than matches with a backstory. With a match that has a long backstory, you've got to remember all the details that led up to why it's happening in the first place, but a "cold" match means you can just enjoy a match with a beginning, a middle, and an ending, without it being attached to some ongoing feud.

Considering they're selling merch of them, I think Ken Shamrock and Sid are locks to get in.

WWE TV 12/25 - 12/31 Has Taylor Swift cursed the Chiefs?
JRH replied to NintendoLogic's topic in WWE
Personally, I'd like to see Albert as a surprise entrant. I mean, he's a trainer and they have access to him currently, throw him in for a nostalgia pop and have him eliminate someone like one of the Pretty Deadly members or someone else who wouldnt be affected by it. -
To be fair, Taker vs Lashley would have been an interesting match.

And likely related to Peacock, WWE is finally shuttering its DVD division: https://tjrwrestling.net/news/wwe-ending-home-video-releases/ End of an era, I really liked those DVDs (though the only one I got post-network was the WWE Unreleased one). Of course you know this means the old DVD sets will now be going for ridiculous prices now.

Actually, I think they own the whole library now, they have USWA Texas on the Network (inexplicably listed as "Global") and IIRC, USWA Texas was essentially what happened to World Class.

If The Iron Claw becomes a huge hit I can see a lot of people possibly wanting to see this WCCW stuff for themselves, might as well upload the last few months of it (they've got up through 1988).

WWE Survivor Series - War Games - 11/24 - What Do You See?
JRH replied to Timbo Slice's topic in WWE
Something tells me that a President Dwayne Johnson will be a "figurehead" President, who's the face of the Presidency, but the cabinet and the Vice President will do all the "real" work (of course, I thought the same thing about Trump, and that didnt happen). -
I miss the old Hidden Gems category (you'd think with the whole Lost Media craze, and some actual wrestling lost media being brought to light via the network, they'd put up more stuff thought to be lost).
-
We've had 2 months without new classic content uploaded to the WWE Network/Peacock, so it looks like they dont care about that anymore and just see it as a way to air PLEs.

WWE Survivor Series - War Games - 11/24 - What Do You See?
JRH replied to Timbo Slice's topic in WWE
Well, there goes any chance of President Kurt Angle. But seriously IF Dwayne runs for President, you just know candidates will use his attitude era promos against him (did any of Jesse's opponents use some of his more politically incorrect lines against him, or were they not as readily accessible at the time?). -
Makes me wonder how AC/DC became his favorite band (at least the Rolling Stones, his other fav according to Jericho, started getting popular when Vince was growing up in the 60s). Maybe he discovered them during the whole MTV/Rock n Wrestling thing.
-
Apparently there's a Kurt Angle biopic in the works: https://itrwrestling.com/news/kurt-angle-confirms-a-movie-about-his-life-is-in-the-works-reveals-his-role/

Apparently MJF is the executive producer on this film. Now EP can mean a lot of things, but it's going to be weird seeing Maxwell Jacob Friedman's name in the opening credits (if it has opening credits). If this film is succesful, I wonder if it'll lead to other wrestling biopics. Maybe Martha Hart will get that screenplay about Owen out of mothballs.

Wonder why they dropped televising the MSG and Boston shows. Televising the LA shows died with the death of Z Channel (and showing things like wrestling and sports was a last ditch attempt to keep that channel alive), but I would have love having another WWF show to watch in the 90s (at least the Boston shows on NESN, my cable system never got the MSG network).
-
With the move to CW, I get the feeling the shows will be more "tighter", if anything, we sure wont have an overrun.
-
I doubt they book one of the major events in Saudi, just because of the whole time zone thing. It would look really weird to have a WM airing in the early afternoon (in the US).
