I wonder how Warrior's title win would have been received if he had beaten Savage for the title instead of Hogan at WM6.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations
JRH replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
Hoopla (certain libraries support it) just added some more wrestling titles, including The Periodic Table of Pro Wrestling (wha?), Benoit: Wrestling With the Horror That Destroyed A Family and Crippled A Sport, Between The Ropes: Wrestlings Greatest Triumphs and Failures, Pain and Passion: The History of Stampede Wrestling, Wrestlecrap the Book and the Wrestlecrap Book of Lists, World Wrestling Insanity, and Wrestling Babylon. Most of these books are from the mid-2000s, which is kind of strange. -
Here's an interesting suggestion for the Dynamite after Full Gear

What's forgotten is that several UPN affiliates didnt even air that episode. I lived in New Hampshire at the time, and the local UPN affiliate just aired more news broadcasts (they did recap most of the episode on the Saturday Night recap show Excess that Saturday, that's how I saw it).

The Best of the WWF vhs series never made it to the Network proper.

I'm kind of worried about what happens to the tape library if someone other than Hunter gets it. At least we know Hunter respects old school wrestling, someone else may just figure that older content doesnt matter and stop uploading it to the Network/Peacock (or worse yet, remove it).

Aside from Nitro, I think they meant wrestling's mainstream popularity among casual fans. Sure, every year has great matches, nobody is denying that, but as someone who was there, being a wrestling fan in 92-96 wasnt exactly going to get you friends (I had friends who still watched throughout those years, but I found only a handful of other people who also watched). Even the NWO was never a big deal in my High School (it took until the rise of Austin for more people to admit to being a fan). Although, surprisingly, the video games were still popular, at least RAW and Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game

I would love to see Todd come back full time. He was let go from his radio gig a few years ago, so it's not like he's too busy. I mean, they brought back Raymond Rougeau, why not Todd?

COTC isnt up there yet, the ones they do have are the WWE PPV.
-
Considering they still dont have any pre-2019 Smackdown, ECW TV, or SNME, they're really getting lazy. But hey, they recently uploaded the Edge and Christian show at least!
-
It's practically tradition at this point, but the whole "heel holds/distracts babyface so another heel can attack, only for the face to move out of the way, allowing heel miscommunication" is one of the laziest spots ever, I got sick of it a few years after I started watching.

Wouldnt be surprised to see the WWE negotiate with Fox to put some of the more "niche" content (ie, AWA, Mid-South, Hidden Gems) on Tubi (of course, you then run the risk of it never being updated).
-
I'm also kind of surprised how much non-WWE owned material shows up on them. The Savage one had ICW and Memphis footage (likely from Poffo and Lawler's private collections), and the Shawn one had a brief bit of Continental footage. While we're on the topic of the A&E shows, the next episode of the WWE Treasures show is going to have Jake Roberts, which makes me wonder how far back it was recorded (yeah, Jericho was on the Stone Cold podcast, but that's a far cry from having an AEW-signed guy on a WWE TV show).

Am I the only one who thinks that one hour is the ideal time for a wrestling tv show? I mean, 2 hours is fine (3 hours is ridiculously long), but with one hour it leaves you wanting more and it means you dont see the same stars every week. I've been watching MLW, and they pack a LOT into their one hour program.
-
I'm actually finding more enjoyment in the WWE Hidden Treasures show. Sure, it's just a WWE version of American Pickers, but it is cool seeing those memorabilia collections, and at least it gives hope that WWE IS working on a physical HOF.
-
So, speaking of the A&E biographies, the warrior one is NOT going to be a puff piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vuxTTkcJlw
-
They did a Yokozuna doc that focused heavily on his obesity.
-
I wonder if Vice will change the schedule so that the Warrior one can air either before or the week after the A&E Warrior Biography, so we can have an interesting contrast.

Under-the-radar wrestling book recommendations

I like the concept of the Jericho book, but I doubt he discusses EVERY match, that would include nondescript house show matches, tv squashes, etc. He likely lists all of his matches, and goes into detail about the more important ones (his debut, his title wins, and such). Also, only 2722 matches in his whole career? For a guy who's been wrestling since 1990, thats actually surprisingly low. -
Am I the only one who thinks Ice Train was underrated? I'm going through a watch through of 1996 PPVs, and I just got to the Fall Brawl match he had with Scott Norton and I have to say, he was actually pretty good. He had some well-done power moves and moved around quite well (and a few shows before that we had that banger with him and Norton vs the Steiners). He's apparently working on a comeback, hopefully it goes well for him.
-
Pretty much a fluff piece, though he did say he "did some bad things" during his departure from the WWE. Legal issues probably prevent him from going into details about him and Debra.
-
The documentary was ok, but didnt delve into anything we didnt know already. Actually, I enjoyed the show afterwards where Foley and some other guy visited wrestling memorabilia collectors to acquire rare items more.
-
JCP/WCW also had the unfortunate trend of relying too much on masked jobbers. Sure, WWF did that too (The Conquistadors, Black Demon, Black Knight), but WCW kind of used it to excess, to the point where they even showed on on Clash of the Champions shows, pretty much helping to kill the credibility of masked wrestlers (it wasnt until the luchador explosion in the US, and later Kane, that masked guys were taken seriously again).
-
See, I think WM was the ultimate proof of this. Since it was the first show back with people, logic would indicate that you have all the faces go over so the show has a "feel good" vibe. Instead, the majority of matches (including all but one title match) were won by heels.
-
Since the 1960s, the WWF/E was traditionally a promotion where the faces dominated for the most part. Yet lately, it seems like the WWE has now become a promotion where the heels are dominant (just look at the title scene : https://www.wwe.com/superstars. Only Bianca is a full-on face. ). Why have they decided to go this route? It's not like it's going to get them any new fans, if anything, it may turn some of them off by constantly seeing faces destroyed by heels (the whole dominant heel champ thing that the NWA did was pretty much due to necessity with the whole traveling champ thing).
