The beat down segment at the beginning of the match was very good. The intensity dropped when the face team got on offense. Fun finishing sequence. Decent match but felt long.

[2000-02-20-NJPW-Fighting Spirit] Koji Kanemoto vs AKIRA
cramerjason87 replied to Loss's topic in February 2000
Enjoyed the intensity in this match. AKIRA looked great and when Kanemoto was on offense he looked good to. The leg selling being dropped at the end hurts the finish.- 8 replies

Outstanding performance by Vader and Williams. They end this match looking unbeatable. A large portion of the match was Vader and Williams in control and it never got stale. Akiyama is such a good seller. The finishing stretch had big nearfalls and the actual finish was perfect for the match structure. By far the best tag of the year and the best men's match in Japan so far. Great match.

[2000-02-13-GAEA-Big Destruction] Aja Kong vs KAORU
cramerjason87 replied to Loss's topic in February 2000
Fantastic garbage match. From the opening bell this was wild and kept escalating. KAORU bumped huge and had great offense. The arm work around the broken table was unique. Great finish too.- 20 replies

This was disappointing. The match could never get a coherent run going which kept the crowd from heating up. They continued the Hashimoto mega-push here which is working well.

Fun match. Toyota stood out when she was offense. Everything she hits looks great and she has tons of variety. The vet vs young style six man tag is a favorite match style of mine. From the first set of matches it seems that AJW is having a problem with their matches being bloated. There is plenty of good stuff it is just buried in each match. I totally agree with the thought that there could be a classic buried in this stuff.

[2000-02-11-AJW] Azumi Hyuga vs Kumiko Maekawa
cramerjason87 replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
The final third of this match was fun. They had trouble building around the match structure due to poor selling from Hyuga and not enough offense from Maekawa. Once they started going into the false finishes they did great. There was a bunch of potential shown by these two. -
This looks awesome from the small amount shown. I can't imagine how much great wrestling was clipped out of just these CMLL matches so far. Still great to see what exists.

[2000-02-08-CMLL Japan] Fugaz vs Ricky Marvin
cramerjason87 replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
There was some fun stuff here. Marvin has impressive dives and the built around some interesting sequences. Finish looked good too. -
This is an amazing tv match. The atmosphere is remarkable, what struck even more than the pops all the faces got was how much genuine heat Triple H got. The structure was the classic babyfaces run through the heels. Everybody fit in and was on. My favorite segment was The Rock hitting the heel team with spinebusters. The only complaint is the finish seems mis-timed. If there is another WWE tv match that comes even close to this I would be impressed.

[2000-02-05-NJPW] Kensuke Sasaki vs Don Frye
cramerjason87 replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
This was ok but Sasaki did a great job with a developing Frye. There is a real effort level in all NJPW matches. Frye is really green here especially bumping, a few times he landed on his arm doing basic back bumps. I loved the clothesline to the knee on the apron spot Sasaki did in the finishing sequence. -
[2000-02-04-NJPW] Jushin Liger vs Minoru Tanaka
cramerjason87 replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
There is something about this and the Dome show squash that didn't click with me. Liger brings intensity and has a ton offfense here. They even do a nice hope segment with Tanaka. Not badly executed but lacked for me. -
[2000-02-03-WWF-Smackdown] Chris Benoit vs HHH
cramerjason87 replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
Fun fast paced tv match. The structure made Benoit look good in his debut match. Getting the visual tap out made up for eating the pin. I'm interested to watch how these HHH TV main events hold up because he looked decent here. When he is in control of the match he is very average but he is a good bumper and seller.
