Jake should never do anything physical again.

Ethan is Hangman's brother obviously

It's interesting that Chad talked about how limb selling is very subjective in 2016 and then went on to praise Elgin's leg selling in this match because I was rather annoyed by it. He was able to pull off his power moves with no problems and then every couple of minutes would slap his knee. Perhaps the fact that he made any effort at all is worthy of praise in today's environment where no one bothers to sell anything. So far I'd go ***1/4 for Mascara vs Dragon Lee and TJP vs Riddle and ***1/2 for this match. Incidentally, I ended up watching the Trauma I vs Canis Lupus match because Tanner mentioned it in one of the reviews and I give that ****1/4.

A few years ago I asked a female friend who was probably 23 years old how many wrestlers she could name and The Undertaker was the only one she knew. She knew who The Rock and Andre the Giant were but she only knew them as actors.

Felt a renewed excitement about wrestling after NXT last night but wow did this show kill that.

Crowd is dead for this. I think that answers my question.

Does anyone give a shit about either of these guys?
-
This match has exceeded my expectations but that isn't saying much since these are my two least favorite guys.

If they really wanted to get him over as a heel, they would have just left this on a countout finish. Well I fully expect them to fuck up the booking but Roman has a totally unique presence as a heel.

Heel Roman Reigns is going to be something really special.

Has Ambrose ever had a good singles match? This match is painful.

Any move that Michael Cole doesn't know the name of is a blue thunder bomb now.

Coming into the project, I was pretty sure I was going to rank Harley Race in my top 100. I had mostly only ever seen him during his WWF run but I loved his bumping and I'm a huge mark for big bumps so I knew he would rank somewhere. Then I started digging into his 70's and 80's and he's a much more serious wrestler in the NWA while still taking big bumps but not the cartoonish type of bumps he was taking in WWF. I watched a good 50+ matches of his for this project and I didn't think a single one of them was bad. Ric Flair would probably have been my default #1 coming into the project. I still had Flair in my top 5 but the difference between Harley and Flair that made me go with Harley as my #1 was presentation. Coming into a Ric Flair match you know you are about to see a big performance while I think Harley had a more realistic presentation. They are both great but those are the types of little things that make the difference when you are talking about wrestlers of this caliber. I think a lot of the criticisms of Harley are a bit overblown. Of course Harley sells, I could show you clips from dozens of matches of him doing a tremendous job of selling. I did catch him coming out of a hold and not clutching at his leg or limping or whatever a few times. I would ask anyone who holds this sort of thing against Harley to the point where they left him off their list entirely, did you hold it against Stan Hansen? I saw Stan do it just as much in his matches. People also criticize Harley as just being a bomb thrower. I don't actually see a problem with throwing bombs and it's simply untrue to say that is all he ever did. Harley would work a hold as well as anyone, not just sitting there with a guy in a front face lock but actually working the hold. All that said, I think 45 is a pretty good spot for him all things considered.

Harley Race hasn't appeared yet. Grimmas I'd be curious to hear you give your reasons for hating Harley so much. In his thread your points were basically 1) he does lots of moves 2) he doesn't sell 3) one time he did a piledriver on the floor to S.D. Jones. Does that sum it up or is there more?

I am one of the people who voted for Han and not Tamura. I didn't have time to get into shoot style for this project but made a point to check out Volk Han after reading Dave Musgrave's rundown of his career on p2bn. I don't recall if any of the matches I watched involved Tamura but if they did he didn't stand out enough to me to warrant further exploration. *runs away* I didn't rank Dundee, which I knew would be one of my 2 most controversial omissions (the other being Ricky Morton). I did get a chance to watch some Dundee but I am generally very low on the Memphis punch n' bleeds. *runs away again* Jim Breaks is my first top 10 guy to fall.

I am someone who will most likely be the sole #1 vote for a candidate and I didn't make the case for them in their thread. I thought the guy had a decent chance of placing pretty well and I worried there may be some backlash like Parv got for his Flair case. I will definitely defend the vote once his ranking is revealed. You should have noticed pretty much no one else got any kind of backlash for pimping their candidates. No one came after Elliot for making a big case on Satanico or OJ for pimping a lot of British guys. Mostly because they didn't try to insinuate that people's reasons for not voting their guy #1 was because they were trying to be "trendy" or "cute" with their ballots. There's nothing wrong with making a case for a guy until you start trying to attack people's intentions for not seeing them as the super awesome great candidate that you do. Those are established, respected community members and I am just some new guy. In hindsight I do wish I would have stumped for my guy though.

I decided to watch one of the recommended matches for each guy as they are revealed. Started with Ikeda vs Ishikawa from Futen which was good and stiff but my God what was up with the editing? Was this shot by the Japanese Kevin Dunn? There was not a single shot that lasted more than 2 seconds.

I just had this sudden wave of panic that this is my vote for Blue Panther. He is by far the guy I ranked the highest based on the least amount of footage.
