All this post did is made me realize this being a setup for a reunited Wyatt Family is.... more plausible then I expected. Rowan just did the thing were he attacked Reigns and potentially Bryan didn’t know about it. Meaning it’s possible Rowan has someone else influencing his actions. Meanwhile, Braun is in this rivalry friendship thing with Rollins. Both former willing active Wyatt members that are getting TV time while heavily involved with storylines with the remaining Shield members. I don’t want that storyline to happen, but the pieces are in place, and somehow nobody had noticed?

SHIMMER HERstory: A SHIMMER retrospective podcast
El Dragon replied to Grimmas's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I always get a chuckle at you guys liking under card Cindy Rogers when at the time me and my friends would joke she was the most boring under card babyface on the roster. Like I’m used to somewhat uncharacteristic undercard babyfaces at the time, but my god. -
I find the “inferior G1” talk amusing. It’s a tournament with a completely different setup style that seems more in line with “make the midcard matches we run for no reason actually mean something” and the response has been positive with the crowd getting in all sorts of matches. If this was trying to be the G1 then all the top acts would be in it. If the G1 was single elimination tournament without Omega, Naito, Okada, and Tanahashi, it would be equivalent to the KOTR. Also, I think WWE has more talent in the midcard then NJPW has, but that’s due to excessive roster size.

I mean Aries might be a dick but he has a long history as a great wrestler. Too many great matches to refute, imo. But Gallagher rules and is an awesome dude, so that one is super confusing.
-
The main thing I’m grabbing from that is: You have zero interest in Gallagher? What is wrong with you?

Live Event Results, August 19th, Macon, Georgia “The Patriots” of Terry Daniels and James Wright defeat Jose Lothario and Blue Demon Jr. in 7:57 when Wright pinned Demon Jr. It seems Lothario is a teacher for the young Demon, judging by their interactions in this match. Tom Prichard and Tim Horner defeated “The Gladiators” in 8:31 when Prichard hit a Top Rope Splash on Gladiator #2. Prichard and Horner debuted matching tights in this match, seemingly implying their teaming is becoming a permanent thing. David Sammartino & Brutus Beefcake w/ Giant Haystacks defeat Joe Lightfoot and Jules Strongbow in 11:01when Beefcake submitted Lightfoot after Beefcake locked Lightfoot in a Sleeper Hold. Mr. Saito w/ Miss Doll defeated The Italian Stallion in 8:47 after hitting a Saito Suplex. During the match Killer Karl Krupp made his way down to ringside, but did not interfere, just watching the action. After the match he and Saito had a brief, non hostile interaction before trying to help Stallion to his feet. Stallion would shrug him off, and leave the ring under his own power, seemingly confused by Krupp’s presence. Jerry Blackwell makes his way down to a chorus of boos, and says for some reason he does not have a match tonight, and demands a challenge. This brings out The Great Kokina, clearly gunning for a fight. Jerry Blackwell and The Great Kokina fight to a Double Countout in 9:14. Blackwell seemed to go out of his way to help establish the young heavyweight, bumping around for him a good deal. At the end they fight to floor, and can not be separated before the 10 count, nor after. As it took multiple refs to separate the brawling. Ken Patera w/ Paul Ellering defeated Bret Wayne Sawyer via Submission with the Full Nelson in 15:47. Sawyer was game for a big match, but Patera has been picking up momentum for a while, and seems hard to stop. Harley Race w/ Paul Ellering defeated Don Muraco w/ Gary Hart in 14:41when Race hit Muraco with a Belly to Belly Suplex, while Muraco was distracted by Ellering and Hart arguing at ringside. Race threatens to attack Gary Hart post Match, and told him that he needs to get out of Georgia for his own safety, as every ally of Ted DiBiase is in danger. Main Event: 8 Man Tag “Hacksaw” Butch Reed, Rick Martel, and “The Ebony Express” of Leroy Brown and Ray Candy defeat Kim Duk, Hiro Saito, and Ole and Arn Anderson w/ Mr. Saito and Miss Doll in 26:14 when Rick Martel made Hiro Saito submit to the Boston Crab. Live Event Results, August 20th, Columbus Georgia Leroy Brown defeats The Mongol in 5:14 when he hit a Running Corner Avalanche. The Great Kokina defeats Brutus Beefcake w/ Giant Haystacks in 37 seconds via Pinfall after hitting a Running Splash in the Corner, and immediately followed it up with a Thrust Kick. During the pinfall, Kokina just pointed at Haystacks, clearly wanting to send a message. David Sammartino defeats Italian Stallion in 12:13 when Sammartino ran Stallion head first into the ring post between the top 2 turnbuckles, leaving Stallion a bloody mess. The ref ruled Stallion was in no condition to compete and ruled Sammartino the winner. Post Match, Killer Karl Krupp once more made an appearance, running off the referees and escorts Stallion to the back, with Stallion in no shape to tell what’s going on. Tom Prichard and Tim Horner defeat Kim Duk and Hiro Saito w/ Miss Doll when Saito was pinned after he attempted a Top Rope Senton onto Horner, but missed. Horner would lock in a Crucifix pinning combination and score the Pinfall. Duk seemed somewhat upset with Saito after this match, thinking they had the match won before the high risk move. Mr. Saito w/ Miss Doll defeats Ray Candy when he hit him a Saito Suplex in 8:17. Rick Martel and Arn Anderson fought to a 30 Minute Time Limit Draw. Another back and forth match between the younger Anderson and Martel once more led to neither man being able to emerge victorious. ”Hacksaw” Butch Reed defeats Ole Anderson in 18:43 via Disqualification when Mr. Saito jumped Reed as he was setting up for a Running Tackle. Ole and Saito would proceed to put the boots to Reed until the Ebony Express and Rick Martel would make the save. Main Event: Six Man Tag Harley Race, Jerry Blackwell, and Ken Patera w/ Paul Ellering defeat Ted DiBiase, Don Muraco, and Bret Wayne Sawyer when Patera made Muraco pass out in the Full Nelson in 24:51. A wild brawl all around on this one, leaving almost everyone bloody. Gary Hart was somewhat conspicuous by his absence, as Ellering got many cheap shots in during the match.

Georgia Championship Wrestling Presents AWA Wrestling at the Omni, in Atlanta Georgia, August 15th, 1984 The Patriots of Terry Daniels and James Wright vs. The Gladiators of Gladiator #1 and Gladiator #2 A solid competitive opener, as the Patriots have had an sizable part of the crowd start to get behind them. The Gladiators run has been up and down, but they are hoping a victory here could put them in the tag title scene. Sadly for them this wasn’t there night, as the Patriots score a solid victory here when Daniels got Gladiator #2 with a Sunset Flip Winner via Pinfall in 7:06: The Patriots ***** Brett Wayne Sawyer vs. Brutus Beefcake Interesting match between 2 more recent additions to the Georgia roster. Sawyer is an established name on this roster, a former National Champion, were as Beefcake and his running buddies Sammartino and Haystacks seem to be on the up swing. Sawyer though exposes some holes in Beefcakes game here, scoring the duke with a Powerslam. Winner via Pinfall in 6:31: Brett Wayne Sawyer ***** Loser Leaves Town Tag Team Match The Devil’s Duo of Doug Vines and Jeff Sword vs. Tim Horner and a Mystery Partner This one has been building for a while, and the Duo seem dead set on finally moving Horner out of Georgia. Horner makes his way down, and is joined by fellow young talent Tom Prichard. And this match was heated fast, with the Duo trying to make the match as Chaotic as possible very quickly. And they do finally gain an advantage on Pritchard after Tom went for a Splash of the top rope but came up empty, and proceeded to work over Prichard’s arm. Eventually though, Prichard would counter out and make 5he Tag to Horner, who has seemingly had enough of the Duo, using his technical skill to gain the upper hand. Horner would eventually apply a Rolling Cradle on Vines, with Sword held at bay by Prichard, to send the Devils Duo packing. Winner via Pinfall in 11:36: Tim Horner and Tom Prichard ***** AWA Light Heavyweight Title Match Brad Armstrong (c) vs. Buck Zumhofe Armstrong makes his way to the ring, but Buck Zumhofe is strangely nowhere one on his attempt to regain the Light Heavyweight Title. Eventually cameras go to the ring entrance to find Arn and Ole Anderson pulling out a bloodied and beaten Zumhofe to the entrance, in no shape to do much of anything. They both make there way to the ring against Arn’s former Tag partner and enemy, and Brad jumps into the fight quickly. But Arm and Ole are notoriously vicious, and while Arn and Brad are fighting that Ole sends Brad head first into the ring post, bloodying Brad up. At that point Arn grabs a microphone. Arn: I thought you would have learned your lesson already Brad! We ran you out of Georgia and just because you have a new title doesn’t mean you are welcome back! Georgia is Anderson territory, and no Armstrong’s are welcome, least of all you! No Contest ***** The Great Kokina vs. Giant Haystacks A war between this two big men, as Kokina has been wanting this victory ever since Haystacks hurt his friend Sivi Afi. And this match wasn’t pretty, but it was wild, with both men fighting all over the floor for a lot of this match. Eventually, the brawl continues in the ring, were Kokina manages to hit a Thrust Kick that sends Haystacks falling out to the floor! Kokina waits for Haystacks to try to get in the ring, but Haystacks is unable to answer the count in time! Winner via Count Out in 7:18: The Great Kokina ***** AWA Superstation Title Match David Sammartino (c) vs. Joe Lightfoot w/ Jules Strongbow Lightfoot has scored multiple Pinfalls over the Champion recently, and with his bodyguard and new friend already having suffered defeat today he appears to be going it alone. And he is behind almost the entirety of this match. But eventually Beefcake makes his way to the ring, and jumps Strongbow on the floor, that distracts Lightfoot and the referee. This gives Sammartino time to grab a Steel Chain, and he immediately wraps it around Lightfoot throat, hiding the chain with a Sleeper hold. The ref turns to watch Lightfoot pass out, leading to Sammartino’s victory Winner via Submission in 10:32: David Sammartino ***** Six Man War ”Hacksaw” Butch Reed & “The Ebony Express” of Ray Candy and Leroy Brown vs. Mr. Saito, Hiro Saito, & Kim Duk w/Miss Doll Before the match, Reeds team demands they check Miss Dolls purse, having had enough of her and her cheap shots. The ref notes there is nothing heavy in the bag and the match gets going. A very competitive match here, with the Reed and Ebony Express team gaining control early before the Japanese contingent eventually gains control of Leroy Brown, and work him over. Reed eventually makes his way back to the ring off a hot tag, and sends all the others scrambling, as things break down. Reed has Mr. Saito on the ropes, as the Express fought Hiro and Duk on the floor. Reed gets send into the ropes and Doll goes at him with her purse, but Reed sees it coming, and catches it. Reed throws the purse down, as the red admonishes Doll. In the meantime, Saito quickly grabs something from the purse, and throws what appears to be a white powder in Reeds face, that leaves Reed reeling. Saito wastes no time hitting a Saito Suplex, and it gets him a Pinfall victory over the National Champ. Winners via Pinfall in 19:08: Mr. Saito, Hiro Saito, and Kim Duk ***** AWA Georgia Tag Team Title Match Arn and Ole Anderson (c) vs. Rick Martel & ??? Arn and Ole seem more self assured then ever before, as they had heard the medical report: Les Thornton can’t go tonight, so that means Martel is likely going it alone. But Martel comes out with a smile on his face and takes the microphone Martel: I bet you guys are proud of yourselves. Les Thornton cannot go tonight, after you jumped him. But I’ve just had a conversation with Mr Barnett and he said signed for a Georgia Tag Team Title Match, and we are gonna have one! And he gave me the right to pick any partner of my choosing tonight! And there is one man in the locker room dying to get his hands on you just as much as me! My partner tonight is Brad Armstrong! Brad comes out with a bandage over his head, and Arn and Ole are arguing with the ref on if this allowed, the ref immediately rings the bell once Brad gets in, and this degrades into a brawl quickly, with Martel and Brad full of firey vengeance. Eventually though Brads exhaustion slows him down, as Arn manages to throw him into the ring post head first again, opening up his cut. This leads Armstrong to be worked over for a long stretch as the Andersons try to work the cut. Arn calls for the finish and is lifting Brad up for a Gordbuster, but Brad falls out the back and hits a Russian Leg Sweep! This leads to a hot tag to Martel who is absolutely on fire on Ole, sending him all over the ring. Ole and Arn eventually try to bail away from Martel, but Brad cuts them off, sending Arn into the ring post himself, busting him open! Ole is borderline by himself at this point. Eventually Brad hits Ole with a Russian Leg Sweep, with Martel hitting a Slingshot Splash to score the win as the crowd goes crazy! Winners via Pinfall in 23:17 and NEW AWA Georgia Tag Team Champions: Rick Martel & Brad Armstrong ***** Main Event: Steel Cage Match, with Special 2nd Referee Harley Race AWA World Champion Ted DiBiase and “Magnificent” Don Muraco w/ Gary Hart vs. Ken Patera and Jerry Blackwell High intensity here, as it’s DiBiase’s return to the building he won the World Title, and him and Muraco have a grudge. Harley Race is in the ring for this one as well, but he seems to be leaving most of the ref work to the main guy, seemingly not wanting to get in the way of the match. In the early going it’s Patera and Blackwell bumping all over the place for DiBiase and Muraco, but eventually Muraco gets thrown into the Cage by Patera that the tables turn, as Muraco takes a beating for an extended stretch, being bloodied up badly. Patera and Blackwell start taunting DiBiase extensively here, as Muraco is barely responsive. Eventually Harley seems to have had enough, and starts getting in Blackwell’s face during the match. This distraction gives Muraco just enough time to regroup in order to tag in DiBiase! Ted comes in guns a blazing, sending Blackwell and Patera into the Cage multiple times, while Race is in the corner checking on Muraco. Eventually Ted ducks a Running Clothesline from Patera, who turns straight into a Powerslam! DiBiase surely would have picked up the win, except Blackwell splashes the referee before he can finish the count! This gets Race involved, as he once more gets into Blackwell’s face. DiBiase gets in and starts throwing punches at Blackwell, and has the big man reeling... until Harley turns him around and punches him square in the jaw! The crowd is shocked as once more Race and Blackwell get nose to nose. But Blackwell eventually grins, and extends his hand to Harley, who shakes it much to the fans fury. Then they start beating down DiBiase, as Patera tees off on Muraco in the corner, Harley eventually throws what appears to be hand cuffs to Patera, who cuffs him to the cage itself. Then Harley holds up DiBiase for Patera to lock in the Full Nelson. Without even checking if Ted, who is barely conscious, submits, Harley immediately calls for the bell, ruling Ted has given up. Winners via Submission in 17:12: Ken Patera and Jerry Blackwell Even after the finish, the beating does not stop. As Patera holds on the Full Nelson, Harley Race pulls out a pair of Brass Knucks from his trunks, and then says something the mics can’t pick up, before punching him in the jaw. Some wrestlers are starting to try to get into the cage but Blackwell is refusing to let them in, as fans throw all sorts of stuff in the ring. Muraco is trying to get at the 3 now, but can’t get over far enough to get there hands on him. This night truely belongs to Race, Patera, and Blackwell.

The bright side is they ended Owens KOTR run immediately, and didn’t draw out the obvious “Shane screws Owens” to the finals against Corbin or something awful like that. It also almost 100% means we get Andrade vs. Ali or Murphy in the SD finals. -

The way I see it beating Daniel gives him immediate legitimacy, while also opening up Bryan screwing him in his first round match with Ali next week. Then have Ali defend Murphy from the 2 on 1 while Ali gets ready for his match with Elias. -

Drew’s problem was he wasn’t a geek. Drew should have been pushed in the role Corbin was to begin with. Drew’s a 6’6 intimidating beast that got used as muscle by a less talented and less interesting wrestler. I love the Revival, but there upside is high level tag team in a company that doesn’t use its tag teams. They had great matches with the Uso’s and nobody gave a shit. Now they are attached a WWE Title feud. That is an upgrade. -

Honestly Reigns as “guy who goes out and has hot matches with up and coming midcard guys” is an awesome fit. Just, you know, no more Dolph please. Basically I’d love to see him against almost anyone in KOTR save Owens, Corbin, Drew, or Miz. -

The way I view the bracket is kinda easy. 5 first round matches seem to have obvious winners: Joe over Cesaro, Cedric over Sami, Corbin over Miz, Gable over Benjamin, and Andrade over Crews. Furthermore Andrade over Gable round 2 seems super likely. So we can plug Andrade into the Semi Finals there, which I like a good deal. So the 1st round (and my prediction for the entire tournament) falls on who wins the Ricochet/Drew, Owens/Elias, and Murphy/Ali match. The only 2 matches I think have a real shot of being the Raw finals are Alexander/McIntrye and Ricochet/Corbin. Whoever wins that first round match tells me what the final on that side will be. Smackdown is more interesting because with Andrade set in the finals it should just be “Owens or Ali, pick your poison” but the Murphy push feeling almost tweenerish adds another dimension. My guess is Owens gets screwed round 1, and he costs Elias a match against either Ali or Murphy round 2. -

Ted DiBiase and Don Muraco are ready for the Cage, and confirmation of Harley Race as a Second Referee Ted DiBiase & Don Muraco defeats The Gladiators in 5:14 when DiBiase hits Gladiator #1 with a Powerslam DiBiase: Over a month Gary, I’ve been waiting for my chance to get my hands on Blackwell and Patera for two months. I’ve been doing everything I need to be to prove that I’m worthy of this belt in my Shoulder right now. Proving that I am the best wrestler in the world. Taking on any and all challengers. But it’s time for me to be a selfish. This isn’t about this piece of gold, this is about me wanting to beat Jerry Blackwell and Ken Patera to a pulp! You two tainted my moment! You two took out Austin and Whatley! You’ve been getting away with too much for far too long! And you are going to pay at the Omni! Schiavone: We also have received word from the top levels of Georgia Championship Wrestling, that due to a history of this feud leading to a dangerous situation for referees, Harley Race will be joining this match as a guest official. Your thoughts Ted DiBiase: I understand the reasoning. I heard what happened in Macon from Muraco. But I do have one message to you Harley. Your an icon in this business, you’ve done everything! But I have one request: Don’t get involved. Me and Don don’t need the backup. If you have issues with those two? Wait your turn. I waited too long for this already. 2. Mr. Saito and Company get interrupted Mr. Saito defeats Randy Jobbs in 1:38 after hitting a Saito Suplex, while Miss Doll reads out a statement on commentary. Mr. Reed, Brown, And Candy will learn first hand that.. Before Doll can finish her sentence, Butch Reed and The Ebony Express run out to the interview desk and the brawl is already on. And they sure like to try to manipulate everything they can to make sure nobody can stand against them. They took out a very nice young competitor in Ben Bassarab for no other reason because old man Ole realized he was a threat. Well there is no hiding now!
