  1. Yet another awesome episode. Poor Archie got all the weird tv adaptation. I would have loved that US of Archie show if I had seen that as a kid. I loved This Is America Charlie Brown and still try to watch the Mayflower episode every Thanksgiving (I think it is a better Thanksgiving special then the one where Snoopy serves toast and pretzels for Thanksgiving.) I grew up with all these American TV stations so I learned more about American history than Canadian history. However I also grew up in Nova Scotia, home of the Alexander Graham Bell museum so I grew up believing the telephone was a Canadian invention. Sorry Kelly I also don't remember a million year old mouse cartoon, but I searched Google and found Max the 2000 year old mouse which is a Canadian cartoon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max,_the_2000-Year-Old_Mouse I've actually not watched Riverdale. I think I started the first episode years ago and wasn't feeling it so turned it off. I'm glad to hear Luke Perry did well in it as Archie's dad before he passed. I may have to check the show out again just to see these old stars . I wonder, if Jack Perry is Jungle Boy, does that make Luke Perry Jungle Man? Johnny's story about the cast being in the crowd for his debut at Boom Pro Wrestling is awesome. It would have been really awesome if the Riverdale cast had been in the audience for some of Johnny's stage work. Can't wait for the Superman episode.

I love Cody but I kind of wonder if he has run his course as a babyface main eventer and should be put lower on the card and let someone new step up. Somebody else here I believe said the thing about finishing your story, it means the story is over. Cody could still have like a mid-card "Cody-verse" where he has interesting feuds with different guys that WWE may not have any future plans for but could sill have entertaining matches and storylines without burying guys they still need to keep strong.
  3. Another great episode. Thanks to Kelly and Johnny. I love that theme song from the first Archie pilot. My dad used to listen to 50s and early 60s music and it kind of has that fun sound. The song from the 70s Archie show was also pretty awesome. I like the 50s Lone Ranger show. It's not as adventurous or exciting as that Filmation 80s Lone Ranger that I watched as a kid, but I find it fun in a corny way. I prefer it to the Lone Ranger movie serial, but I am not a fan of old serials in general because they feel like they spend half the time either resolving last week's cliffhanger or setting up this week's cliffhanger. That Happy Days problem Johnny had with Amazon Prime sounds like the same problem Prime has with Babylon 5, at least here in Canada. I looked up Babylon 5 the other day and it looks like they just have random episodes. I haven't seen To Riverdale and Back since probably 1990 as well, but I remember loving it at the time and making sure to tape it and thinking it was a big deal. Of course at the time I also loved family stuff like Full House, so I would probably not be as big a fan now. However, that rap version of Sugar Sugar is fun. For reference, I also love the MC Hammer Addams Family rap and The Fat Boys "Ready for Freddy." We had the Christian Archie comics at my church's library growing up. I remember reading them and thinking they must be fake because it made no sense to me. The Nova Scotia newspaper had the Archie comic. When my family lived in Newfoundland in the late 80s we didn't get the newspaper, but my grandmother in Nova Scotia did. She would save the color comic strip insert from the Newspaper each Saturday and mail them to us every few months. (They didn't print a Sunday newspaper back then, so they printed both the Saturday black and white daily strip and the color weekly strip in the Saturday paper). That's how I read all the child-friendly strips back then, like Archie, Garfield, Marmaduke, and Doonesbury. Sadly it did not include Terry and the Pirates which I have never read and may need to rectify.
  4. I think you meant Koshinaka taps out. Although it would be funny if a match just ended when a tag was made and the ref immediately called for the bell lol
  5. Hi I just want to encourage anybody else who has an interest in Hulk or Green Lantern to give this episode a listen. Johnny and Kelly are great hosts and it's a lot of fun. Those Showcase books of DC's were great. I remember reading the one that covered Silver Age Green Arrow when he had the goofy trick arrows and such. Then all of a sudden at the end it jumped to the Neal Adam's redesigned Green Arrow from I think Brave and The Bold in the late 60s and its a complete tonal shift. I think that the Green Arrow back up stories were cancelled for a while until the redesign so in real time in the 60's, the goatee Green Arrow appeared years afterwards, so it didn't seem like such an abrupt change. It's make me realize that it wasn't a sudden leaping transition from Silver to Bronze age comics but more of a slow gradual morphing. I never saw the GL cartoon, but the Hulk cartoon reruns I watched in the 90s was the same show that had that Captain America show that Kelly sang the song to and those other Marvel cartoons you mentioned. I remember the lyrics "ain't he unglamorous ". I saw the first episode of the Hulk series in the 80s. We had it on video tape, so we either taped it off tv or it was at the local rental store and we rented it and copied the tape. We had both VHS and Betamax so I think my dad hooked them together so would rent one format and make a copy in another. The Hulk show may look and sound campy now, but as a child I took it all seriously and thought Hulk was terrifying. Hearing you guys talk about the Hulk show made me look to see if it was available on any of the streaming services I subscribe to. It's not, but there are 2 made for TV movies on Amazon Prime Video in Canada that I will need to check out. I think the Hulk Returns and Trial of the Hulk. The Hulk series may not be there but I see Bionic Woman is on Prime Video so I may be watching that show too. I feel like I remember seeing reruns of that show as a kid in the 80s and thinking it was cool.
  6. Another fun episode Johnny and Kelly.
  7. I think you might have posted this in the wrong thread. Also I agree with Sleaze about kicking out of the finisher only to have that same finisher hit again resulting in the pin. It is anticlimactic and I feel like it brings the energy down a little bit.
  8. Imaginary Stories was awesome. I love how you guys just kept the numbering. Maybe a future episode could be "Amazing Adult Fantasy Masterpieces". Lol

I was hoping to see a series of fun vignettes of Mark Briscoe being initiated into the Don Callis Family. ("Carry these gym bags, young boy. Handwash these jockstraps") I like the idea of the Death Riders being these attack dogs that Jon Moxley has starved and beaten and trained to be these uncontrollable monsters, and now Moxley has lost control and they turn on him and just run roughshod through AEW unleashing chaos and destruction. Then the question becomes, is there somebody who can get them under control?
  10. I used to love getting the essential Marvel books. They were a lot of comics for a cheap price but were black and white. This is how I read the classic X-Men stories that came out before I started reading comics. It's funny, I believe Volume 2 was the one I was missing. I believe I had 1, 3, and 4. I feel like 2 had the most famous Byrne stories which was why it probably wasnt in stock at my local comic shop when I bought 1, 3, and 4.

"Khamzat carries a notable scar on his lip, which he got at the age of two when he fell down on concrete stairs, leaving him unable to breathe correctly through one nostril." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khamzat_Chimaev "In April 2023, du Plessis underwent surgery to fix a breathing impairment in his nose. According to his coach Morne Visser, du Plessis had been competing in the UFC with "only 8% oxygen" intake through his nostrils." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dricus_du_Plessis It's the battle of the mouth breathers!
  14. I tend to skim through multiman matches unless I see something interesting like run ins or weapons or something then I will watch a few minutes and if it doesn't interest me I fast forward. They feel like placeholders, like nobody is really beating anybody since everyone is ganging up on everyone so anyone who is pinned has an excuse and the person who does win you could say somebody else did most the work. I just don't find them satisfying. Similarily I am not a fan of six man or more tag matches unless its a bunch of babyfaces teaming together against a heel faction because they usually feel like such meaningless matches. I do love during a shine or comeback when you have a bunch of heels bumping for a fired up babyface. For a while those Judgment Day tag and 6 man matches were the highlight of the show for me seeing them bump all over the ring for the face teams.

I usually hate Nia Jax, but I really liked the Last Man Standing with Tiffany Stratton. I was originally going to skip it, but I saw a couple highlights (Tiffy jumping from the apron to run into the steps Jax was holding, and Jax splashing off the apron onto Tiffy through the table on the floor) that made me go back and watch the whole match. I think it was probably Tiffy's selling which makes me want to watch her matches more closely from now on. It's kind of silly that she won, but she seems like she is good at getting destroyed by a bigger woman.
  16. If we can bring up anecdotal evidence, i don't see non-wrestling fan friends or people at my work or whatever talking about wrestlers like I saw during the Hogan, Monday Night Wars, or Cena eras. I feel like their success right now is from doubling down on the modern WWE fans they already have and catering to their whims more (which I think are different from a lot of the people who visit this board). Also, I feel like Undertaker belongs in that list with Foley and Austin etc. Again speaking from anecdotal evidence, I really feel like most of the people I went to school with in the 90s who didn't watch wrestling still knew who Undertaker was.
  17. Wow i feel kinda dumb (my excuse is that Im Canadian). I totally didnt realize until you pointed it out here that IRS is a villain because a lot of political conservatives believe taxes are bad in general ( I always assumed it was because having to sit down and do taxes or getting audited was annoying)
  18. I think the idea is that if you own all the places wrestlers are able to work then you can pay them less because where else are they gonna go.

I like the Captain America ring gear. I hope this is a long term gimmick and is not just going to be droppee after Wrestlemania.
  20. My favorie thing they post is the old Coliseum home videos. They really should be putting those on Netflix but I am guessing Netflix doesnt want them.

Reading this has made me wonder if Triple H spewing the bottle water mist in his entrance was supposed to be symbolic of him having an orgasm. He was in DX which had that "sex-is-funny/let's-pretend-to-hump-things" humor.

I don't know about internationally, but in Canada Smackdown wasnt on its' old home Sportsnet since that deal ended at the end of 2024, but wasn't live on Netflix yet either. Instead it's available for us on their Youtube channel: I'm dismayed that they have made it 3 hours now. I was happy that they had reduced Raw to 2 hours. At 3 hours I usually end up waiting and watching it later and fast forward through most of it.
