  1. Sorry for falling behind. Johnson impresses but Fleming's experience pays off. Onita's been on fire and it continues as he advances. Yamazaki's plan works as he stops Doleman's recent momentum. Fujiwara was clicking on all cylinders. I give Smiley a lot of credit. He took some serious shots but kept coming back. Sayama earned that one. Koslowski gave it his all but Karelin's suplexes sealed the deal. Karelin vs Onita is going to be a very interesting match up. I was really looking forward to Backlund vs. Vader. Vader once again looks like an absolute beast as he dominates Backlund. Suzuki came so close to a huge upset but Takada's flurry at the end did the job. Maeda advances after another tough fight with Han. These guys tore the house down again. Can't wait for the next round!
  2. No doubt in my mind, Budro and Prichard are going to tear the house down at Starrcade! Very intriguing situation with the Horsemen. Can't wait to see what goes down at Starrcade. Manny's has enough and is going into business for himself. Kevin better keep a close eye on him.
  3. Portland The woes continue for Starr. Awesome is looking devastating Gordy gets in a great tune up Rose and Scotty make a pretty good team Despite the rule breaking, PR retains Like Gordy, Steamboat gets in a tough tune up Eugene, Condrey puts down Cornette's thorn The Dreamboats are heading into San Diego with serious momentum Dibiase has all the tools When Hall hits the Gator Breaker, it's all over Albright takes champ Regal to the limit Midnights end the night with a bang.
  4. Lee's back on track while Riggins has a lot on his mind. I wonder what's going on with Beetlejuice and Sinister. San Diego will be the Dreamboats big chance. I still have to wonder if Cornette will come up with something. Looks like Jackal might have rekindled Payne. Iron and Steel's ruthlessness seems to be winning over some fans. San Diego will be a huge night for the Terror. Could this be the end of the Brigade? Gordy's hell bent on beating Steamboat. Austin's getting back in with the fans. The cage match will be very interesting.
  5. AWA @ The Sullivan Arena, Anchorage Alaska 11-2-89 Tommy Jammer defeats Clayton Royce with the California Splash Karachi Vice defeats Two Local Talents- Makhan executes a backbreaker and Gama follows with a Boston Crab to get the submission win. Konnan vs. Moondog Spot w/Moondog Rex and Skandor Akbar Konnan spends most of the match dealing with constant outside interference from both Rex and Akbar. This allows Spot to get in some hard shots and work Konnan over. Konnan does dazzle the fans with his exciting offense, but thanks to more outside issues, Spot regains control. At one point Rex is on the apron. Spot swings Konnan towards Rex, but Konnan reverses it and swings Spot into Rex. A disoriented Spot spins around as Konnan nails him with a lunging clothesline for the win! The Brawney Boys vs. A mystery team Jim and Kaz wait in the ring for their opponents. The announcer introduces 'Latin Desire'. Out walks Al and Lou Perez. They're wearing black vests with red hearts on the back. They seem really full of themselves. Latin Desires confidence fades as the Brawny Boys pinball them around the ring with their brute strength and raw power. Kaz has Lou in a bearhug and wrenches away. Al comes in and hits Kaz with a forearm blast from behind. Jim comes in and sends Al back to the corner with a big right punch. The Ref guides Jim back. This allows Al to nail Kaz with a superkick and Lou follows with a bridging back suplex as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! As Jim runs in, the Perez's quickly exit the ring. El Canek vs. Blackblood w/Skandor Akbar This one's hot as these guys tear into each other. After a few minutes of brawling, Akbar makes a signal to the back. Soultaker runs into the ring and attacks Canek. The Ref signals for the DQ. Blood and Taker put the boots to Canek. The fans cheer as Konnan hits the ring with fists flying. All four men go at it! Here comes the Moondogs! But before they make it to the ring, Karachi Vice is on their tails and the teams start fighting on the outside. It's a wild scene. AWA International Title Bout 'The Red Rooster' Terry Taylor (C) vs. Leo Burke These guys can go and man they brought their A games. The match goes back and forth and they both shine. At the 20 minute mark, Taylor gets control with an eye rake. Taylor chokes Burke on the top rope and flings him back. AWA National Tag Team Title Bout The Olympians (C) vs. The Rock n Roll Express RnR get a huge reaction from the fans as they hit the ring. The Olympians enter the ring and grab the mic. Patera and Rheingans take turns berating RnR and say they shouldn't have to defend these prestigious titles against some dirty hippies. After more of this, the Ref just signals for the bell. RnR stereo dropkick the Olympians out of the ring as the fans go wild. The opening minutes is all RnR as they fluster and piss off the Olympians with quick tags and fast paced offense. Olympians finally make a comeback thanks to an outside trip by Patera followed by a gut wrench suplex by Rheingans. The Olympians get down to business and really work Morton over. More frustration grows because they can't put Morton away. At one point Morton makes the hot tag, but the Ref doesn't see it. Morton takes more punishment as Rheingans delivers a side suplex then tags in Patera. Patera puts on an awesome display of strength as he destroys Morton with a series of power moves. Patera then clamps on the full nelson and wrenches away. Gibson runs in and dropkicks Patera from behind. Rheingans runs in but gets back dropped. After the Ref gets order, Patera tags in Rheingans. The Olympians double team Morton in the corner. Gibson has enough, runs over and punches away on the Olympians. Gibson swings Rheingans to the ropes and back drops him. Patera charges but Gibson takes him over with a flying head scissors. Gibson helps Morton up. Patera is on his knees. Rheingans staggers up as RnR double dropkick him. Rheingans falls back over Patera as Morton springs himself over Patera and covers Rheingans 1..2..3!!! HUGE POP! The fans go wild as the Ref hands RnR the National tag titles! You can tell Morton really took a beating, but it's all worth it as he hugs his partner Gibson. The winners of the bout and NEW AWA National tag team champs- The Rock n Roll Express AWA World Title Bout Hulk Hogan (C) vs. 'The Universal Heartthrob' Austin Idol Boos as Idol enters the ring wearing an Idolmania headband and T-shirt. The boos turn to a deafening cheer as Eye of the Tiger blasts and out comes Hogan. Idol attacks at the bell and unloads on Hogan. Hogan fights back, swings Idol to the ropes and clotheslines him down. Hogan rips Idol's headband off, then rips his Idolmania shirt off and chokes him with it. Hogan lifts Idol up, spins him around and slams him down hard. It's all Hogan as he unleashes a series of power moves that has Idol bouncing and bumping all over the ring. Idol rolls out of the ring to take a breather. The Ref starts the count. Idol hops on the apron. Hogan goes to grab him but Idol hops down. After this happens a couple times, Hogan goes out after Idol and chases him around the ring. Idol slides in the ring. Hogan follows but Idol quickly nails Hogan with a high knee lift. Idol stomps away on Hogan and chokes him on the bottom rope. Idol grabs the top rope and drops several knees onto Hogan. Idol chokes Hogan on the bottom rope, swings off the opposite ropes and hits a body guillotine. Idol hoists Hogan up and vertical suplexes him back. Idol hops on the turnbuckles and crashes down with a forearm drop 1..2..Kick Out. Idol swings Hogan to the ropes but misses a clothesline, Hogan swings back and puts Idol down with an axe bomber. Hogan regroups. Hogan hoists Idol up and atomic drops him over the top rope. The Ref backs Hogan up. Idol's on the ground and reaches in his tights. He pulls out a foreign object. Idol slowly gets on the apron. Hogan runs over, but Idol nails him with the foreign object, then quickly tosses it. Idol gets in the ring, covers Hogan and puts his feet on the ropes 1..2..Kick out! Hogan holds his title high and of course gives the fans a pose down. Winner of the match and STILL AWA World Champion- Hulk Hogan
  6. AWA releases Steve Doll AWA picks up Tommy Jammer
  7. True SNME feel tonight. Great visual of Jake's DDT on Dusty. These guys are on their A game with this feud. Savage gets the mist and Santana takes the pin. Funk and Muta have the momentum going into SS. This match rocked! Like Zeus's role here. He's doing exactly what he should be doing. Can't wait to see him and Bossman go at it. Just like that, the Steiners have regained the US titles! Raw, Oh yea, Bossman and Zeus are heading for a showdown. I'm surprised Jack Tunney didn't have anything to say about the Steiners LOL. Michaels gives Rude more than he bargained for. This Michaels kid might have a future as a solo. Demolition joins the madness. I can't imagine who Jake is bring in.
  8. Loved the Halloween theme tonight. So fitting for Memphis, especially the gimmick match to start things off. Goto is a beast!!!! The Tojo/Lance side story is great stuff. Figures on Halloween, Rogers would find his valet. I'm sure Embry will be back for more. DWB is having a fun run as Tri champ. Well, Brad wins the match but Dutch ends up with shoo baby. That sounds about right. Probably not the way Keirn and JJ wanted to win the match. I really like how you're using the team of HTM and Valentine. Oh man! The twists and turns continue! First the Roberts turn and now Golden turns. This story keeps getting better! Damn! I wonder who Freddy was??? Whoever it is, he sure hates Jimmy Hart. Lawler ends Halloween on a high note. Great stuff Kev! Every week is must see.
  9. I'll take Alexandra York and drop out.
  10. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 11-89 Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. A lot of our wrestlers are in Alaska preparing for the big night, which includes Hulk Hogan defending the AWA world title against Austin Idol. We'll show you all the highlights next week. Well, we've got a lot in store for tonight's program. The AWA world tag team titles will be on the line as the Fantastics defend against the Rose Cousins. Ok, lets get the show going. 'The Foreman' Spike Huber vs. Grant Winslow Huber airplane spins Winslow, slams him down and follows with an elbow drop for the win. Huber cuts a promo and says some recent losses have set him back some, but that's not going to keep him down. Commercial Break The Renegade Warriors vs. Vinergy w/The Vin Man Warriors start off strong and have Vinergy reeling. The Warriors swing Putski to the ropes and double back drop him. Dukes runs in but gets double chopped down. Vinnie hops on the apron but jumps down quick when the Warriors head over. The Warriors rough up Putski pretty good. Putski finally makes the tag, but Dukes doesn't fare any better. Chris suplexes Dukes as Mark follows with a fist drop from the middle ropes 1..2..Dukes gets his foot on the rope. Vinnie hops on the apron and starts causing trouble. Chris hops down and yanks Vinnie off the apron. The Ref is distracted by this. Mark picks Dukes up, but Putski runs in and Polish Hammers Mark from behind! Putski puts Dukes on top of Mark and yells at the Ref. The Ref turns around, runs over and counts 1..2..3! Chris tosses Vinnie down and runs into the ring to protect Mark. Vinergy rolls out of the ring. They help Vinnie up and celebrate their victory. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, next week, Tom Brandi will defend the AWA TV title against this man, Larry Zbyszko. Larry, last week you used a chair on David Sammartino to earn this match and I use the term earn very loosely. Zbyszko: Ok, that's enough out of you Spudhead. You know, Bruno's boy has been nothing but a pesky thorn in my side. How many times do I have to knock some sense into that brat! Now, onto something worthy of my time. I'm talking about the TV title. That young punk Brandi pulls off the fluke of a lifetime and now goes around calling himself a champion. Next week, I'm putting a stop on that. The living legend should be a champion and I'm going to take that punk to Larryland, give him a wrestling lesson and take that title. As for you Nelson, do me a favor and just keep your mouth shut! Nelson rolls his eyes Commercial Break 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer vs. Trent Watkins Sawyer destroys his opponent and easily wins the match with a powerslam. Sawyer then proceeds to bite Watkins head until he bleeds. Officials run in to stop this madness. Commercial Break Nelson: Ok, with me now is Bob Armstrong, Brutus Beefcake, Iceman Parsons, Sweet Brown Sugar, Don Muraco and his manager Superstar Graham. I think we all thought your feud with the All-Stars was over after War Games, but after what happened to Glamour Doll, it looks like another chapter. Armstrong: Let me make something clear, we would've accepted our loss at War Games and moved on if it had been legit. That coward Doll, who wasn't even in the match brought in a steel bar and that steel bar won the match. Our man Sugar was banged up pretty bad with that steel bar. Last week Glamor Doll found out exactly how that felt. All-Stars, this can stop now. It's up to you. Boos as Bill Dundee comes out. He grabs a microphone from the announcer's table. Dundee: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! You boys started something last week and the All-Stars are going to finish it. Oh no, this isn't over, not by a long shot! Brian Adias, Chicky Starr and Dream Machine come from behind as Dundee joins. Fists start flying! It's pure chaos! Security, officials and prelim wrestlers run out. It's pandemonium! Commercial Break Nelson: My goodness! Ok, it's official, that war is not over! I've received word that the AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow will be here next week to address this situation. (deep breath) Switching gears, as you all know, in 2 weeks there will be a special pay per view called No Holds Barred, The Match/The Movie. You will see Hulk Hogan's movie No Holds Barred and then afterwards from the St. Paul Civic Center you will see the match as AWA World Champ Hulk Hogan and Nikita Koloff take on Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami with Ray Stevens in their corner. Also, in a special bonus match from St. Paul, Tony St. Clair will wrestle Carlos Colon. A very exciting night indeed. Our world tag team title bout when we come back. Commercial Break AWA World Tag Team Title Bout The Fantastics (C) vs. The Rose Cousins The first few minutes is basic tag wrestling with both teams displaying solid and fluid teamwork. The Fantastics gain control and turn things up with some high octane offense that throws the Roses off their game. Rogers hits a flying crossbody on Pat 1..2..Kick out. Rogers tags in Fulton. Rogers slams Pat as Fulton comes off the top rope with a knee drop 1..2..Randy runs in and breaks it. Rogers comes in, but the Ref guides him back. This allows Randy to clock Fulton and drag Pat to the corner. Randy tags himself in. Randy works over Fulton and tags in Pat. They swing Fulton to the ropes and put him down with a double back elbow smash. Pat covers 1..2..Kick out. Pat pounds away on Fulton, then tags in Randy. Randy hops on the turnbuckles. Pat vertical suplexs Fulton as Randy follows with a slingshot splash 1..2..Rogers runs in and breaks it. Pat pushes Rogers, but the Ref guides Pat to his corner. This allows Rogers to dropkick Randy, drag Fulton back to the corner and tag himself in. Rogers takes it to Randy. It's all Rogers but his momentum is stopped when Pat nails him with a knee to the back from the apron. Randy clotheslines Rogers and tags in Pat. Pat executes a backbreaker 1..2..Kick Out. Pat swings Rogers to the ropes and back drops him, then tags in Randy. The Roses double suplex Rogers. Randy covers 1..2..Kick Out. Randy slams Rogers and tags in Pat. Pat goes for another back drop, but Rogers kicks him and tags in Fulton. Fulton punches away on Pat, swings him to the ropes and dropkicks him down. Fulton follows with a jumping knee drop 1..2..Randy breaks it. Rogers runs in and we've got a pier six brawl. The Fantastics double dropkick Randy out of the ring. Pat staggers up and gets double dropkicked down. Fulton goes to the top rope. The Fantastics hit the Rocket Launcher 1..2..3!!! BIG POP! The Fantastics retain their world tag team titles! Commercial Break 'The Russian Nightmare' Nikita Koloff vs. David Dalton Nikita hits the Russian Sickle and it's all over! WHAM! From behind, Nikita is attacked by Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami with Ray Stevens calling the shots. As Jumbo and Tatsumi pound away on Nikita, Col. Debeers comes strolling out. He's just twirling his mustache and watching. Stevens yells something. Jumbo and Tatsumi hoist Nikita up and double power bomb him down! Nikita is motionless as Jumbo and Tatsumi stand over him. Debeers looks on still twirling his mustache, then calmly walks away.
  11. Hey guys, sorry for holding things up. I traded my pick to WWF
  12. Halloween Havoc! Let's do this! I like the big push Manny is getting. Jones's Army wins the 6 man titles! This really is an awesome trio. 2 Cold and Poffo are two men who could really pull off a stretcher match. The visual at the end was incredible! Baby Doll earns her money and Christopher gives us another stunning visual to retain. YES! Tully and Arn are back in the NWA and have their sights set on the Road Warriors. Bring it on! Prichard gets the shot. Chaos ensues and then we get RIC FLAIR to end the show! WHOOOOO!!!! I loved the surprise returns! Looks like a Horsemen war is coming. Great stuff! The NWA is looking to end 89 on a super high note! I can't wait to see what's planned for Starrcade!
  13. Azul's getting tuned up for a LHW title shot. Well, I think the entire roster, especially the SCS now realize that Dutch is done playing around. The Blondes heel work comes up just a tad short against the Can Ams. Poor Starr No doubt about it, Gordy is ready for his shot. Wow, despite everything, Hart's not giving up on Austin. Seems the Playboy Club is getting serious about something, but the plans might not include Riggins. Vancouver, Windham picked the right opponent to get ready for the Terror. Southern Boys proved they're still one of the top teams in PCW. Williams dominates again. Poor Payne seems to be in a slump. Beetlejuice is toning things down a bit. I can't wait for the Pillman/Adams blow off. Man, the OWC have certainly proved their worth to Dibiase. Kelowna, An annoyed Busick still keeps his focus. I know Austin and Hart have a cage match coming, but Atlas and Jack might need one too LOL This is exactly what Dustin needed. With constant interference, Iron and Steel might be making some new enemies. Malenko and Guerrero are shaping up to be a contending team Midnights just barely hold on again. Is their time at the top coming to an end???
  14. You can always count on Rogers to get the fans riled up right away. Goto looks like a beast, which is the perfect way to build him up again. I always loved Lance bantering with the heels. This should be a fun little side feud with Tojo. You did a great job getting Embry over as a fired up babyface. After a year long reign as AWA tag champs, the Guerreros are looking for gold once again. Armstrong steals shoo baby and now we've got a full on feud. I'm liking DWB's gimmick here. Awesome job hyping the main event. Kerry Von Erich has arrived too even things up! With Lawler out for a while, Kerry will have no problem filling in on the main events. After what happened, I'm sure Hart will have a plan. Both Hayes and Buddy tell their sides. Get ready because a Freebird civil war has started!
  15. WHOA! Jake and Gary Hart were just made for each other. Things just went up another level. Bossman was on fire tonight. This really started the show with a bang. Poor Hughes really took a beating. Loved all the promos hyping Survivor Series. Damn! Zeus looked like an absolute monster tonight! Taking out both Owen and Anvil is a big deal. Warrior gets the big pop win, while Andre busts Rude's nose. I think Heenan's family is in trouble. Very fun Raw. All the wrestlers and managers were on their A games pumping up SS.
  16. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 10-25-89 The show kicks off with pre recorded comments from Austin Idol and AWA world champ Hulk Hogan. Idol: (wearing an Idolmania headband) Hogan, darling, time is ticking Jack! Next week in Alaska, your reign at the top comes crumbling down, because Idolmania is going to take the myth of Hulkamania down! The AWA world title is coming home with me daddy! Hogan: Austin Idol! You talk a good game brother, No doubt about it, your big mouth spits out a lot of words. But words wont help you one bit when we meet in Alaska brother. The power of Hulkamania is putting you down! There's only one mania running wild! After I'm down shutting Idol's big mouth, it's on to the match and the movie pay per view. Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami will feel the wrath of Hulk Hogan and Nikita Koloff! So, Idol, Tsuruta, Fujinami and Ray Stevens whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on all of you!! Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. Huge night of action for you. The superstar from Mexico, Konnan makes his debut. Justified takes on the Union Jacks. The newest All-Star Glamour Doll will be in action. Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami will be in tag action. Steve Disalvo goes one on one with the Soultaker. And get this, I still can't believe it, but the two names drawn for a shot at the TV title were Larry Zbyszko and David Sammartino. Yes, tonight they will wrestle for a shot at the TV title. All that and so much more. Let's get to the action. The Rose Cousins vs. Carl Kellerman and Rance Jones The Roses look great tonight and win the match with the Rose Bomb! Nelson: Ok, Pat and Randy Rose, you two get the chance of a lifetime right here next week when you face the Fantastics for the AWA world tag titles. Pat: It's about time the AWA took notice of the Rose Cousins. Our time has come! Randy: That's right! One shot is all we need and next week we're taking the gold home. Bet on it! Commercial Break Konnan vs. Trent Watkins Konnan makes his AWA debut and immediately excites the fans with high octane offense. Konnan swings Watkins to the ropes, does a somersault and follows with a diving clothesline for the win! Nelson mentions Konnan brings a whole new style to the AWA. Commercial Break Justified vs. The Union Jacks w/Les Thornton Two more teams vying for a tag title shot. This one is hard hitting and aggressive. Neither team gives an inch as they go toe to toe. The Union Jacks take control and work over Oliver. They swing Oliver to the ropes and blast him with double forearms. Dave sends Oliver into the corner with a European uppercut and tags in Smith. Dave holds Oliver as Smith comes off the top rope with a double axehandle 1..2..Kick Out. Smith swings Oliver to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Oliver kicks him, dives over and tags in Young. Young cleans house and is on fire. He clotheslines Smith down and covers, but Dave drops a knee on Young's head. The Union Jacks regain control. Smith and Dave tag in and out and keep Young in the corner. They hoist Young up for a double suplex but Oliver runs in and clips the Jacks knees. Thornton is up on the apron. Oliver knocks him off with a punch. The Jacks stagger up. Oliver clotheslines Dave down as Young rolls up Smith from behind 1..2..3!! The Union Jacks roll out of the ring and help Thornton up. Justified celebrates. Thornton points to the ring. The Jacks run back into the ring and attack Justified from behind. They stomp them down good. They pick up Oliver and deliver a double slingshot suplex. They pick up Young and throat drop him on the top rope. Thornton runs in and raises the Union Jacks arms in victory as the fans boo. Commercial Break Leo Burke vs. Joe Canton Burke finishes things off with the sleeper. Nelson: Leo, you've been on a roll and you'll be rewarded with an International title shot next week in Alaska. Burke: I couldn't be happier. Terry Taylor keeps claiming he runs the henhouse and that he's the cock of the walk. Let me remind you Rooster, pride comes before the fall. I'm coming for you and that title. Commercial Break Glamour Doll w/Bill Dundee and Dream Machine vs. Todd Rooney Doll is unbearable in the ring as his new friends from the All-Stars cheer him on. Doll hits a missile dropkick, puts his boot on Rooney's chest and yells "This is way too easy!" as the Ref counts to 3. Wait a minute! Don Muraco, Bob Armstrong, Iceman Parsons, Brutus Beefcake and Sweet Brown Sugar run out! Muraco and Beefcake grab Dundee and swing him into the steel post. Parsons and Armstrong hammer down on Dream Machine and double slam him on the concrete! Sweet Brown Sugar runs in the ring and just gives Doll a beating. Armstrong tosses Sugar a steel bar (just like the one Doll brought out at the War Games) Sugar takes the bar and hits Doll over the head, then hits his leg several times with it. Sugar then clamps on the figure four and wrenches away. Doll's a bloody mess and passes out. Officials run out but Sugar, Armstrong, Parsons, Muraco and Beefcake are satisfied and exit without more problems. That was some serious payback! Commercial Break Carlos Colon vs. Ray Glader Colon's fired up tonight and wins the match with a clothesline from the top rope. Colon cuts a promo on Tony St. Clair and says he's more than willing to go at it again in a wrestling match. Just say when! Commercial Break 'The Mighty Yankee' Steve Disalvo vs. The Soultaker w/Skandor Akbar These two have had quite the rivalry the last couple months and want to end it tonight. The match is brutal as both men lay into each other with some earth shattering shots. Disalvo gets control and puts his muscles to work as he uses a variety of power moves but Taker hangs tough and thanks to interference by Akbar, gains control. Taker pounds away on Disalvo, hoists him up and delivers a running shoulder breaker 1..2..Kick Out. Taker stomps down on Disalvo, hops on the turnbuckles and crashes down with a forearm drop 1..2..Kick Out. Taker gives Disalvo a few more angry stomps, picks him up and slams him down hard, then follows with a jumping fist drop 1..2..Kick Out. Taker swings Disalvo to the corner and charges in but Disalvo runs forward and clotheslines Taker down. Both men slowly stagger up. Disalvo starts punching away on Taker, swings him to the ropes and gives him a big back drop. Taker staggers up as Disalvo mows him over with a shoulder block. Disalvo goes to the turnbuckles. Akbar hops on the apron and yells at Disalvo. Disalvo hops down and quickly grabs Akbar and lifts him off his feet. Taker rises, runs over and goes for a high knee from behind, but Disalvo moves as Taker sends Akbar flying off the apron. Disalvo grabs Taker from behind and executes a German Suplex 1..2..3!! Commercial Break We come back and get a pre recorded promo from El Canek. It's in subtitles as he talks about his match with Blackblood in Alaska. Canek says he's going to finish what they started. Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami w/Ray Stevens vs. Sam Smith and Arnie Goldstein Tsuruta and Fujinami take turns pinballing their opponents all over the ring. During the match Col. Debeers strolls out to observe. Stevens glances at him with curiosity. The crowd is in awe as Tsuruta and Fujinami hoist Smith up and double power bomb him down! Debeers twirls his mustache, nods in approval and exits. Meanwhile, poor Sam Smith is stretchered out. Nelson: Ray, that young man may never wrestle again.. Ray cuts him off. Stevens: Hogan! Koloff! That was for you! No mistake about it, that's nothing compared to what Jumbo and Tatsumi are going to do to you in St. Paul! I hope all your fans enjoy your movie, because that pay per view will not be a happy ending for Hulkamania. Nikita! You should have never stuck your nose in our business. Hogan! You're finished! Commercial Break Winner receives an AWA TV Title shot 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko vs. David Sammartino Well, thanks to luck, this rivalry continues. The bell rings and Zbyszko rolls out of the ring to stall. David runs out and pushes Zbyszko into the steel post. David slams Zbyszko's head on the apron and hurls him back in the ring. It's all David as he works over Zbyszko with back drops, slams, punches, and slams. Zbyszko stops the momentum with a mule kick. Zbyszko regroups and works over David with chokes, knee drops and suplexes. Zbyszko gives David a backbreaker 1..2..Kick out. Zbyszko berates the Ref and keeps arguing with him. 17. Manny's been hard hitting lately. Jones blunder costs Uncle Ivan the match as Harley wins the block. What a visual with Bundy just sitting and squashing Garvin. Prichard and Race will battle it out for the Starrcade shot. Halloween Havoc is loaded with a lot of fun matches. Looking forward to the spin the wheel match.
  18. I always liked writing for Keirn as a singles wrestler. He's right at home in Memphis. Not sure who the Executioners are, but they quickly make their presence known. Well, DWB's name says it all as he retains against Armstrong. Huge swerve as Buddy Jack shows up and sides with the Stud Stable!! Nice spin. Tonight's win over Dutch gets Jarrett more over with the fans. NO WAY! Jimmy Hart is back in Memphis!!! Not only that but he brings along HTM and Valentine! The First Family is back and so is Memphis wrestling!!
  19. The Heenan Family might be in serious trouble because they're facing quite the team at SS. I know I would be terrified if Andre was gunning for me. Duggan and team USA are ready for the Colossal Canadians. I think we all know Jake isn't really a team player. SS will be an interesting night for him. Things will get wild and crazy with a match involving the Bushwhackers and Samoans. The Enforcers have such a strong team but Davey has countered well. Savage has a new friend in Tito. Big match signed for SNME! Survivor Series is really heating up.
  20. The annual battle royal is one of my favorite PCW events and once again it delivered. There was a lot of hate in the ring and it probably costed a lot of wresters a chance at the title. I thought Dibiase was going to win it, but in the end it's a dominant Gordy who is standing tall. Damn, Lee taps out on the match as Dustin taps out in the ring. Pillman edges out Adams in a bloody match. Looks like we're going to get another battle. After that finish, Iron and Steel are going to be gunning for Cactus's head. PCW isn't big enough for Stormfront and the SCS. Hashimoto retains after a serious challenge from Scotty. Dreamboats come close yet again. I'm sure Dutch will have a solution for another match. After a crazy feud, Steamboat destroys the Jackal in the cage! I think this feud brought out a different kind of fire in Steamboat and that might be a good thing with Gordy up next. No doubt about it, San Diego is going to be an epic blow off to an epic year in PCW.
  21. AWA TV @The Hammond Center 10-18-89 Larry Nelson: Hello everyone and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. We've got a lot in store for you tonight. AWA World Champion Hulk Hogan will be here. Speaking of champions, for those of you who don't know, we have a new AWA International champion. Let's bring him out right now, the Red Rooster Terry Taylor. Taylor struts out in a sparkling red jacket with the title on his shoulder. Nelson: Terry, you defeated Paul Orndorff just days after the Happening. As you know at the Happening Stan Hansen reinjured Orndorff's neck. Paul went against Doctor's orders and wrestled you anyways. Taylor: I'm going to cut you off right there Nelson. What are you, in love with Orndorff? I earned the title shot and I did what I told everybody I was going to do. I went out and won the International title. Fair and square might I add. See, he isn't so wonderful. How many times do I have to tell you. The AWA is a henhouse and who runs the henhouse? The Rooster! I'm the cock of the walk and brother this title proves I can back up everything I say. That's right, I walk it like I talk it. So, bring on the so called challengers and I'll take them down one by one. Red Rooster is running this place and everybody better get used to it! Commercial Break Blackblood w/Skandor Akbar vs. Jay Thompson Blood destroys his opponent and finishes him off with a knee drop from the top rope. Nelson: Ok Akbar, you really pulled off a dirty trick at the Happening. El Canek wins the match only to find out an imposter was under the mask. As if that wasn't bad enough, the real Blackblood attacks Canek. Akbar: (laughs) Greg Gagne was right, Canek is a moron. Blackblood's mission is to terminate El Canek, so if the moron is stupid enough to want more, come and get it because we'll be waiting! Commercial Break The Renegade Warriors vs. Vinergy w/The Vin Man Both teams are vying for a title shot and show up tonight with their A games. Vinergy show off their speed and strength while the Warriors are in sync with stereo moves. After a few minutes the Warriors are in control. They double chop Putski down, then double slam Dukes. Putski staggers up as Chris hits a flying press 1..2..Vinnie runs into the ring and breaks it. The Ref calls for the DQ. The Warriors grab Vinnie and hoist him up for a double suplex but Vinergy regroups and attacks the Warriors. Both teams keep fighting into the commercial break Commercial Break The Rock n Roll Express vs. Carl Kellerman and Ray Glader The fans are up and cheering as RnR win the match with a double dropkick. Nelson: Ok it's official, you two will get a shot at the National tag titles in Alaska on November 2nd. RnR cut a promo and say now that they're done with the Moondogs, it's time to focus on the gold! They say rock n roll is here to stay in the AWA! Commercial Break 'Sir' Tony St. Clair w/Les Thornton vs. Paul Redman St. Clair puts on a wrestling clinic and wins the match with a floating butterfly suplex. Nelson: Les, Tony, at the Happening, Carlos Colon took you to the limit and I think surprised you with his wrestling skills. Thornton: Carlos Colon managed to pull off a once in a lifetime miracle. Rest assured a rematch will be signed and rest assured Sir Tony will show that savage why he's simply the best. St. Clair: Lace up your wrestling boots Colon, because we're going to do this again. Commercial Break 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer vs. 'The Foreman' Spike Huber Sawyer attacks at the bell and is relentless. Huber manages to get in some offense, but Sawyer is on another level tonight. Huber is tough and manages to give Sawyer some more hard shots. Then Sawyer retakes control and is brutal. Sawyer finishes things off with the powerslam! Sawyer paces the ring like a lunatic before leaving. Commercial Break Nelson is in the middle of the ring. Nelson: Coming out now are the winners of the War Games match, I'm talking about the All-Stars, Austin Idol, Chicky Starr, Bill Dundee, Dream Machine and Brian Adias. Boos as the All-Stars slowly enter the ring with smiles. They all hug and high five. Nelson: Austin Idol, because you got the winning fall, you will get a world title match with Hulk Hogan in Alaska. But before we get to that, there was some controversy at the War Games and I'm talking about Glamour Doll bringing you a steel pipe to help finish off Sweet Brown Sugar. Just what the hell was that all about? The All-Stars shrug their shoulders and smile. Idol: Relax darling. You just ruined the surprise. Please welcome the newest member of the All-Stars, Glamour Doll. Doll is elated as he runs into the ring and hugs everybody. Doll: People need friends around here and who could ask for better friends than the most elite group in wrestling, the All-Stars! Idol: Doll, you earned your stripes and we welcome you with open arms. Everybody pats Doll on the back. Idol: Now! As for you Dope Hogan! Kiss your belt goodbye darling because it's coming to the All-Stars! Hey everybody knows that Idolmania has been running wild a lot longer than your weak DopeAmania. I mean, take a look at us, we're what's happening in wrestling. You're nothing but a stooge Hogan. You're a puppet for the network. When I win that world title, the All-Stars are going to change the game forever in the AWA and that's a promise Jack! The All-Stars raise Idol's arms in victory. Commercial Break AWA TV Champ 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi vs. Willie Lopez The newly crowned TV champ looks great tonight and wins the match with a flying elbow from the top rope. Nelson: Ok, Tom Brandi, congratulations on winning the TV title at the Happening. I know the TV title contenders drawings will return soon, so a lot of wrestlers will be gunning for your title. Brandi: You got that right but I can assure you and all these great fans that I've never been more prepared and focused in my life. I'm more than ready for all the top competition the AWA has to offer. Commercial Break 'The Mighty Yankee' Steve Disalvo and Karachi Vice vs. Soultaker and the Moondogs w/Skandor Akbar This match is hard hitting and chaotic! Disalvo and Taker have some brutal exchanges. Of course the Moondogs bring out the heel side of Karachi Vice as they battle. In the end we get a wild pier six brawl. During the melee, Disalvo grabs Moondog Spot and hits a German Suplex for the win. The bell rings but Soultaker runs over and fights with Disalvo. They fight to the outside and all around the ring while Karachi Vice and the Moondogs tear it up inside the ring. Commercial Break The Russian Nightmare' Nikita Koloff vs. Carl Kellerman Nikita makes his return to the ring since WrestleRock. Nikita is in total control when there's a commotion at ringside. Nelson: Wait a minute! I know who that is! That's Colonel Debeers!. What's he doing here? Debeers circles the ring twirling his mustache. Nikita stares at him but gets back to his match and finishes things off with the Russian Sickle! Debeers stares at Nikita and calmly strolls away Nikita cuts a promo and says he's back and in the best shape of his life. He also says he has no idea why Col Debeers is here but warned him by saying he better watch himself and the Russian Sickle. Commercial Break Nelson: I've asked Nikita Koloff to stay out here. On November 16th, there will be a special pay per view called No Holds Barred, the match/the movie. Fans will watch the movie No Holds Barred and then afterwards from the St. Paul Civic Center there will be a tag team match. Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami will take on Nikita Koloff and this man, the AWA world champion Hulk Hogan! Eye of the tiger blasts as Hogan storms out and into the ring. He shakes Nikita's hand and raises his arm. Nelson: At the Happening, Jumbo Tsuruta made his return but luckily Nikita was on commentary and was there to even things up. Now the match has been signed. But before that Hulk, you will defend your world title against Austin Idol in Alaska. Busy month for you. Hogan: Well you know something Lethal Larry, things got crazy at the Happening but my main man Nikita Koloff saved the day brother. That no good dirty coward Ray Stevens thought he had a master plan but the Russian Nightmare spoiled everything! So, on November 16th after you watch my movie No Holds Barred, Nikita and I are going to handle those two dudes and put them down once and for all. Oh but don't think for one minute I've forgotten about you Austin Idol. You're good at running your big mouth but brother, I'm going to slam you down and put my boot in your mouth and shut you up for good. Then it's onto Jumbo and Tatsumi and whatcha all going to do when Nikita Koloff and Hulkamania run wild on you!!!!! Hogan and Nikita high five and pump up the crowd to end the show.
  22. AWA releases Cannonball Grizzly AWA picks up Col. Debeers
  23. Even though there was some cheating, always love seeing Super D's superplex. Cool that Wahoo was able to get some points. It took 3 superkicks, but Prichard scores a gigantic win over Studd to win the block. Looking forward to next week's matches.
  24. All roads lead to the Survivor Series! Martel puts together quite a team. However, Bossman upstages him with an incredible alliance of Davey, Anvil and Owen! What a moment! Awesome move booking the Dusty/Jake feud. These guys have delivered on the promos and angle. Can't wait for the explosive showdown. Heenan's family is stacked, but a Warrior/Andre alliance is off the charts. Duggan's fighting for the USA and has an army ready to go. Funk and the Dangerous Alliance are ready but looks like Savage has a plan. It's going to get nuts! Every match will mean something at the Survivor Series. Great job with the build.
  25. Portland, The Southern Boys seemed to have brought out the bad in the Blondes. Tenryu gets the best of Blackman, while the other leader Severn gets the best of Chono. I really think Dustin needs to cut his losses and move on from the Terror. Like their fellow countryman Hashimoto, PR are enjoying a solid reign. Rose is giving Steamboat a hard time. This might affect Steamboat in his upcoming encounter with the Jackal. Eugene, I think Dutch has no choice but to give the Dreamboats another shot at the titles. Douglas wins a battle against camp Cornette. I know Dibiase must be proud of the OWC. Regal has been a good ally and friend to Cactus. Great finish by Scotty. Finlay bounces back quick from his tournament loss.
