  1. Watch out PCW, Windham's coming back in a big way Condrey and Cornette want some gold. I can't say it enough, I love how Condrey's been booked here. You have to be always on guard against Blackman. My guys, Iron and Steel are as bad as ever Spinebuster Slam, enough said! Bigelow gets past a rough test with Finlay. Portland Cash's star is on the rise Piper's having a blast at the Playboy Club's expense Lightning Kid brings even more excitement to the LHW division. Damn, what an 8 man tag! Williams is on a rampage Piper equals chaos but this might give Rose another title shot Eugene Thanks to Adams, Harlem Heat gets the big upset Can Ams fall to the hungry Stormfront Camp Cornette wins this battle but the war rages on Austin gets in some payback. Bring on Austin vs Adams! Barr takes Azul to the limit. Give the man a rematch Regal's making the most if his main event slots
  2. The Bushwhackers are having a nice push here Earthquake has been destroying the competition. I wonder who will step up to meet him at Mania. In a stacked tag division, Captain Lou promises big things for the Bees Yep, that was a perfect Warrior promo LOL. I'll say this, he's hyped for Mania Demolition and the POP are heading for another explosive showdown. Slick's Badd Co is getting some good attention. I can't wait for the Bossman/Nailz match Dusty and Duggan vs. Bull and Funk. Oh yea, SNME will be a must see Bolsheviks get one over on the USA. Once again, Heenan and Monsoon crack me up
  3. All roads lead to the Clash. The tag team division is stacked here. I have a feeling the Road Warriors and Rockers are heading towards a unification match. If Sherri's reuniting the Skyscrapers, WCW better get ready. So much going on in the world title scene. With Sting and Luger heading for a showdown, can they remain focused on the Horsemen. Or will Flair sneak back in the title slot. And how long will it be before Hart and Muta strike. And let's not forget about Nikita. Lots of intrigue.
  4. Really liked the Hickerson/Michales/Zebra segment. It was very creative and fresh. Nice touch getting the fans involved. You've set up a good feud here. Falk delivers his goods. They got defeated but showed promise. One day they will get that big win pop. Precious is really into her role and puts some good heat on Pretty in Pink. I agree with the others, the newspaper article is always a cool addition to your promotion.
  5. The Thrillseekers pick up a win over stiffer competition Coast to Coast is picking up right where they left off. I love these guys LOL Oh yea! A Hart /Gordy feud, bring it on!! The Money Train and Heartbreakers are really set on determining who the new sensations are Hashimoto is taking on all comers and still remains TV champ More Gordy and Hart, that's what I'm talking about Vancouver, Young Robbie V picks up the V Windham and Lee will be another hard hitting big man feud. Especially with the history here Sarge and the FOJ win the first 6 man battle with Camp Cornette. I know this match tore the house down Dr. D is ready to take his shot Give Harlem Heat a little more seasoning and they'll be holding gold one day Steamboat has had one of the toughest title reigns in the game. Kelowna, Del Ray chalks one up for the Heartbreakers From the terror to the diamond exchange, PCO might have too much on his plate Hexagon gets the win but the fight continues Dreamboats keep their dream reign going Regal gets the main event slot and delivers. The annual Aloha Spectacular has arrived! Damn that card is stacked!
  6. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 1-31-90 Footage is shown from the Mecca. Col Debeers attacks Hogan and hits him with a club. Larry Nelson: Hello everyone and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight, you will see two more first round tag team tournament matches. A lot of action tonight, but right now we're going to take you to pre recorded comments from the AWA world champion Hulk Hogan. Hogan: I knew you were a coward Col Debeers and once again you proved me right. Well let me tell you something brother, Hulkamania is going to take care of you once and for all. At the next Title Night in Winnipeg, I will put this world title on the line against you. BUT! Only on one condition. In a bootcamp match! That's right brother! I'm going to beat you at your own game. Now let's see if you have any guts at all. So Debeers, whatcha gonna do when the power of Hulkamania wins the war against youuuuuuuuuuu! Commercial Break David Sammartino vs. Clyde Putnam Sammartino is healed up from his Superclash cage match with Zbyszko and is looking good. He wins the match with a belly to belly suplex. Nelson: Ok, Saturday February 21st in Winnipeg, the AWA returns with another Title Night. David, you will face Terry Taylor for the International title. David: Larry, this is a tremendous opportunity and it seems Taylor is underestimating me. Hey, that's fine with me, because Zbyszko did the same thing. Get ready Rooster, because I'm walking out of your henhouse with the International title! Commercial Break 1st Round World Tag Team Title Contender's Tournament Swords of Light vs. The Starrs Konnan and Gama start off fast and control the early segment with quick tags and technical wrestling that frustrates the Starrs. The momentum changes thanks to a forearm blast from the apron by Ron on Gama. The Starrs control with heel double teaming and rough house tactics. Ron tags in Chicky. Ron slams Gama as Chicky follows with a corkscrew elbow drop 1..2..Konnan breaks it. Eventually Gama makes the hot tag and Konnan shows off his Lucha Libre style on both Starrs. Konnan nails Ron with a diving clothesline. Chicky runs in but Gama is all over him and dropkicks him out of the ring. Konnan swings Ron to the ropes and hits a sidewalk slam 1..2..3! Swords of Light advance Commercial Break 'The Mighty Yankee' Steve Disalvo vs. Warren Coolidge After a series of power moves, Disalvo finishes things off with a running shoulder breaker. Disalvo cuts a promo and warns JW Storm that it's only the beginning. Commercial Break Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden vs. Neil Jordan Golden beats down his opponent and wins the match with the piledriver. Nelson: Fans, after what happened last week, thankfully Leo Burke's neck is not broken. He will be out of action for a bit but says he'll definitely be back and he'll be coming for you Jimmy. Jimmy, you piledrove the man on the concrete for goodness sakes. Why?! Golden: Well it's real simple. That boy meddled in my business and got what was com'n to him. Nobody gets in my face! (holds up his fist) This fist will knock you out and my piledriver will put you in the hospital. Just ask Leo Burke. Commercial Break We see highlights of El Canek in Mexico and Carlos Colon in Puerto Rico. Both men will be returning to the AWA soon. 'The British Bruiser' Johnny Smith w/Les Thornton vs. Carl Kellerman Smith easily handles his opponent and wins the match with the Snake Eyes on the top turnbuckle. Nelson: Les, it seems Tony St. Clair is more than ready for you and the British Bruiser. Les: Oh is that right? Well, that couldn't be further from the truth. Johnny Smith is the pride of the Parliament and he's going to send Mr. St. Clair into exile because trust me, the UK doesn't even want that traitor. Commercial Break Col. Debeers w/The Commission vs. Ray Glader Nuclear heat for Debeers. He toys with his opponent before finishing him off with the front face piledriver. Nelson: Col Debeers, you heard the challenge made by Hulk Hogan. You get a world title shot at Title Night but only if you accept a bootcamp match. Debeers (twirls his mustache) I always knew Hulk Hogan was a fool. I will gladly accept his conditions. Before I get to that, I want to address the 2 untouchables that interfered in our business that night in Milwaukee. (Looks at the Commission) Your first orders are to terminate those two untouchables. Commission:(in unison) Yes sir! Debeers: As for you Hulk Hogan. The so called Real American. I've waited a long time for this moment. At Title Night I'm going to relish every moment as I dissect you piece by piece. You have all these idiots fooled. You have all the powers that be in the AWA fooled. But not me! I will expose all of your fears and weaknesses when we meet. You're coming into the War Zone and you will be soundly defeated. Commercial Break The Hangman w/Nell vs. Dean Hoosier Nell walks around the ring in his western preacher's suit and white hat. Hangman annihilates his opponent and finishes things off with the Hangman's Neckbreaker. Nelson: (nervous) I know Brutus Beefcake must be a concern after what your man did to him a few weeks ago. Nell: (very soft spoken) Oh you mean when he put that there noose around that poor tortured soul's neck and hung him? The Hangman puts his noose around Larry's neck. Larry freaks out and runs away. Nell picks up the mic and looks into the camera. Nell: The Hangman is here. Commercial Break 1st round World Tag Team Title Contender's Tournament The Mavericks vs. The Jive Tones w/Tiger Conway Jr. It doesn't take long before both teams get aggressive. The match is hard hitting. The Mavericks have the edge until interference from Conway changes that. The Jive Tones capitalize and control a good portion. The Mavericks make a comeback and have some serious momentum going. Embry puts Whatley down with a flying back elbow blast. Skip runs in and so does Gary. While the Ref is tied up with them, Conway slides a chair to Whatley. Whatley staggers up with the chair but Embry kicks Whatley and takes the chair. Whatley falls down. Conway screams at the Ref. The Ref turns around and sees Whatley down and sees Embry with the chair. Conway's yelling at the Ref that Embry used the chair. The Ref signals for the DQ and awards the match to the Jive Tones. Conway enters the ring laughing and celebrating. Embry says the hell with it and hits Conway over the head with the chair! That gets a big pop. The Jive Tones advance.
  7. Man, you've really got the Prime Time feel down. Billy Jack would be a fun muscle match for Rude. WrestleMania 6 is going to rock the Sky Dome! The Outlaws are on a rampage I always loved it when Heenan would almost make Monsoon break. The Good, the bad and the ugly. You've always been so creative with finish names. Damn, Holly literally left Christopher hanging. Looks like things are being set up for a Tito/Bravo IC title rematch. I like the importance put on the IC title here. I can't wait for a crazy Dusty/Duggan-Outlaws match. Things are flowing very smooth. With the promos, matches and commentary by Heenan and Monsoon, everything is so easy to follow.
  8. I'm not sure if even Hickerson can control Lock. I wouldn't want to be Bobby Starr either. Good job with the Humperdink tie in. The Mortons bring the dropkicks to Bluegrass! Ok, next week we get to find out what Falk's been up too. We'll see if he can deliver the goods. Fun main event. I thought Michaels was going to pull it off, but Zebra doesn't let that happen. Zebra's been one of my favorites here.
  9. AWA @ The Mecca, Milwaukee WI 1-25-90 The Soul Patrol (Mike Jones and Bobby Walker) defeat Two Local jobbers. These guys get over quick with their exciting gimmick and win the match when Jones gives his opponent a punch to the gut off the ropes and Walker follows with a sunset flip from the top rope. 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi vs. King Kaluha Brandi's looking to get back on track after losing his TV title to Anvil. Kaluha recently made his AWA debut and wants to make waves here. Brandi has things going his way by using his speed and high flying offense. Brandi hits a Thesz Press but Kaluha holds on and hot shots Brandi on the top rope to get the pin. 'The Mighty Yankee' Steve Disalvo vs. 'The Future' JW Storm Storm arrived at SuperClash and attacked Disalvo. Disalvo is looking for payback tonight and uses his power to pinball Storm around the ring. Storm comes back with power moves of his own. Disalvo regains control and hoists Storm up for his running shoulder breaker but Storm manages to grab the top rope and ends up pulling him and Disalvo over the top rope. They both fight on the outside going to a double countout. Cactus Jack vs. 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer This match is a straight up brawl as these guys fight inside and outside the ring. Jack puts up one hell of a fight but in the end, Sawyer wins it with a powerslam. After Sawyer leaves the ring, Cactus sits up and starts laughing then gives the bang bang with his fingers. 'Lionheart' Tony St. Clair vs. 'The British Bruiser' Johnny Smith w/Les Thornton After his series with Colon, St. Clair changed his ways and wanted to go back to his wrestling roots. This didn't sit well with Thornton and he's ready to make the Parliament proud with Johnny Smith. St. Clair controls a lot of the match by outwrestling Smith. A trip by Thornton changes the tempo as Smith works St. Clair over with some brutal and hard hitting shots. St. Clair is able to withstand it and make a fired up comeback. St. Clair executes his floating butterfly suplex but Thornton runs in the ring to break it, causing a DQ. St. Clair goes after Thornton, but Thornton gets out of there quick. AWA National Tag Team Title Bout Latin Desire (C) vs. The Renegade Warriors Pretty damn good match as both teams give the fans an exciting see saw battle. Latin Desire's teamwork flows smoothly while the Warriors have tremendous chemistry. After 30 minutes, all 4 men are in the ring fighting. During the confusion, Mark has Lou up for a suplex but Al clips Mark behind the knees. The illegal man Al covers as the Ref counts 1..2..3! Chris is a second too late. Chris is trying to explain what happened. The Ref remains confused but still gives the match to the champs. AWA World Title Bout Hulk Hogan (C) vs. 'Olympian' Ken Patera w/Brad Rheingans The Olympians get in some good pre match heat but that all changes when Eye of the Tiger blasts. Hogan gets the fans roaring with a fast start. He clotheslines both Olympians, then knocks their heads together, sending Brad out of the ring. The opening minutes is all Hogan. Patera takes advantage of a distraction by Brad and works over Hogan. Patera looks damn strong here and proves he's a serious threat. Patera gives Hogan all the strongman moves and gives the fans a few scares. Patera finally locks in his full nelson. The fans fire Hogan up. Hogan back pedals Patera into the turnbuckles and it's all Hogan now. Hogan punches Brad off the apron, then gives Patera several punches, swings him to the ropes, hits the big boot, swings off the ropes and hits the leg drop for the 1..2..3! MASSIVE POP! Hogan gives the fans his poses. BUT WAIT! The Commission (Krueger and DeKlerk) come to ringside. They stare up at Hogan. Hogan sees them and warns them. From behind, Col Debeers enters the ring and hits Hogan's back with some kind of club. The Commission enter the ring and hold Hogan up. Debeers gives Hogan a shot in the gut with the club. Debeers picks up Hogan and delivers a front face piledriver! The Soul Patrol hit the ring with chairs as Debeers and the Commission exit. Hogan is laid out as the Soul Patrol check on him.
  10. Nasty Boys join in on the feud with Gary Hart. Bring on the chaos! Luger's in a bad way, but this did get Tully out of the picture, so maybe this works in the long run for the babyfaces. Love the way you write up the squash matches. LOL Damn great way to end the show. Chaos in the ring and Muta makes his presence known to Luger. Sting slides right into Luger's spot for Greensboro. I wonder what Flair thinks about all this. Yes! Keep the Martel/Garvin feud going.
  11. I can just imagine a crazy Savage behind the wheel. I love this entire storyline and how it ties in with the upcoming title match. I also loved Hennig's take on all this. Great TV! I think Goto might be too distracted by Rhodes to focus on his title match with Jarrett As if Goto wasn't enough to deal with, Rhodes now has issues with Hot Stuff You've got something great going with the Dutch/DWB/Armstrong feud. Add in Dundee and this goes to an entirely new level. It's great seeing Dundee back home. Can't wait for the Mid South card.
  12. Slaughter and the FOJ are ready to go to war with Camp Cornette Dibiase's influence has moved the OWC up a level Hahahaha Piper mentioning When Hell comes to Frogtown was priceless. Thank goodness he did They Live. He did give the Brigade good advice. Bigelow is climbing the ranks fast The youth of the Hexagon is giving the fans some visually stunning moves. Regal's been one of the best homegrown stars of PCW LA DDP is going to send in some heavy hitters but I'm sure Austin's ready to knock them down, one by one. Say what you want, but Dibiase always comes out on top I think DDP might have to send Awesome after Austin One of my favorite things to write about Busick was his spinebuster slam. Could Williams be the next challenger for Steamboat? Steamboat retains but Scotty gave him a run Santa Barbara Thrillseekers get back on track Condrey's been on such a roll that Gunn should be proud of going the distance Piper's going to make Rose snap Heartbreakers and Money Train are tearing the houses down I'm sure things are going to get a lot crazier between Sabu and Snow YES! Coast to Coast is back in PCW!! Great way to come back by going all the way in a thriller with the Dreamboats.
  13. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 1-24-90 Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight, you'll see 2 opening round matches in our tag team tournament to determine the number one contenders to the world tag titles. Jimmy Golden makes his AWA debut as will Bobby Blaze. TV champ Jim Neidhart will be in action. Jumbo Tsuruta will also be in action and Ray Stevens says he has an announcement to make. All that and a lot more, so let's get to the ring. Bobby Blaze vs. Trent Watkins Blaze makes his debut and the fans immediately take a liking to the fired up kid. Bobby shows he has the tools and talent and wins the match with a Northern Lights Suplex. Bobby cuts a promo and says he's happy to be in the Major Leagues and is ready for all comers. Commercial Break 'The Rock' Don Muraco w/Superstar Graham vs. Todd Rooney Muraco wins the match with an inverted piledriver. Muraco goes to the outside and high fives Graham. Nelson: Well guys, it seemed like the two of you weren't exactly on the same page heading into Superclash, but it appears you're back in sync. Muraco: Hey, Billy was right. I was way too aggressive and on edge going into SuperClash. I did lose some focus on the prize. At SuperClash, I found out what really matters most. Billy, I need you with me and I know we can get the job done together. Graham: Listen Donnie, you should be aggressive and maybe I held you back a little too much. But brother, I know we can even things out. Keep the aggression along with your focus and brother, you can't lose. So lets get you some gold brother! Muraco: Let's do it! Commercial Break 1st Round Match in the World Tag Titles Contenders Tournament The Destruction Crew vs. The Power Twins Both teams put it all out there. The Destruction Crew is a well oiled machine and gel so well together. The Power Twins show off some incredible strength and moves. A few minutes in and it can go either way. Things get tense and a pier six brawl breaks out. Larry Power hurls Bloom outside the ring. The Ref eventually guides Larry back to his corner. David Power hoists Enos up for a suplex, but Bloom (from outside the ring) nails David's knees with a sledgehammer. Enos falls on top as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! The Destruction Crew advances Commercial Break Jimmy 'The Stud' Golden vs. Harold Bannister Golden comes out wearing jeans, boots and quite the belt buckle. Golden pummels his opponent and finishes him off with a piledriver. Golden takes pleasure in giving his fallen opponent a few more stomps. Commercial Break Leo Burke vs. Carl Kellerman Golden is still in the ring making a scene as Kellerman enters. Golden beats up Kellerman. Leo Burke enters the ring and confronts Golden. Golden holds up his arms and starts to exit. Leo goes to check on Kellerman. WHAM! Golden nails Leo from behind. Golden puts the boots to Leo and hurls him to the outside. Golden follows. Golden hoists Burke up and piledrives him on the concrete! MY GOODNESS! A swarm of officials and security run out. Golden is escorted out. Moments later, Burke is stretchered out. Commercial Break Nelson: I can't believe what we just saw! Leo looked to be in serious trouble. We'll give you an update on his condition as soon as we can. (deep breath) Joining me now is Chicky Starr. Chicky, you and Austin Idol survived at SuperClash. So, what's next for the remaining All-Stars? Starr: My main amigo Austin has decided to go back to Vegas and take a much deserved vacation. As for me. I want some gold. I have entered the tag team tournament and have got myself the partner that will win the titles with me. My cousin Ron Starr. Ron Starr walks out. Ron: Chicky! Nobody can stop the Starrs and I hear we're taking on a team called the Swords of Light hahahaha what do you think Chicky? Chicky: I say it's lights out for them Ron: (laughs) You haven't lost your humor Chicky Commercial Break We get an advertisement of the AWA coming to the Mecca in Milwaukee this weekend. Hulk Hogan will defend the AWA world title against Ken Patera. We go to a gym and once again Rheingans is wearing a sweatsuit and whistle as Patera pumps iron. Rheingans blows the whistle. Rheingans: You see that strength Hogan? There's no way in hell you can compete with Ken Patera's power. Patera: I'm going to snap you like a twig Hogan! And then I'll restore honor to the AWA world title. Commercial Break Jumbo Tsuruta w/Ray Stevens vs. Neil Jordan Poor Jordan takes a brutal beating. Jumbo finishes things off with the powerbomb! Nelson: Ray, Jumbo looks to be in tremendous condition. Stevens: Of course he is! This man is the bone breaking wrecking machine! We want our world title back! Jumbo is about to go a tour in Japan, but when we come back its our time! Jumbo will return at the next Title Night and after that there will be no doubt and no more excuses. Jumbo will get his world title match and that's final! Commercial Break AWA TV Champ Jim 'The Anvil' Neidhart vs. Sam Smith Neidhart puts his opponent down with the Anvil Flattener! Nelson: Jim, you came in with a roar and then defeated Tom Brandi for the TV title at SuperClash. Our TV title match drawings will return soon. Are you ready for the competition? Anvil: (strokes his goatee and laughs) I'm ready baby! That Tom Brandi's a tough kid and I'll be happy to give him a rematch. As far as the drawings are concerned, I don't care who I get in the ring with. I'm ready for anybody! Anvil laughs and walks away Commercial Break Nelson announces that next week's 1st round tag matches will be the Starrs taking in the Swords of Light. The Mavericks will wrestle the Jive Tones. 1st Round Match in the World Tag Titles Tournament The Takano Dragons (George and Shunji) vs. Good Vibrations(Tommy Jammer and Sunny Beach) w/The Vin Man Vin comes out wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Jammer and Beach are wearing green neon wrestling pants and white tank tops. The Takanos come out wearing red pants with yellow dragons along the sides. Good Vibrations get in some good moments (along with interference from Vinnie) and have some chemistry. At one point they almost pinned George with a double slingshot suplex but Shunji was able to break the pin. The Takanos come back and their momentum never stops. George sends Jammer into Vinnie and both men go down. George goes to the top rope. Shunji suplexes Beach as George follows with a frog splash for the win. The Takanos advance
  14. Earthquake is having a nice resurgence One thing about Bad News is he doesn't need friends Koko gets a nice win. I'm liking Holly's gimmick. The Heenan Family is definitely on top of the world. Bossman clears things up but man what a cool visual of a fight breaking out in the studio. This is great TV. Russia vs. America always sells in wrestling. Bees and Badd Co. go the limit. This match up is a show stealer. I hope we see a lot more. Looking forward to your road to WrestleMania.
  15. Royal Rumble babay! King Haku starts the night with a surprising win over the Warrior. I didn't see that coming, but I loved it. It's cool seeing Haku get the push he deserves. Long live the King! Bushwhackers have some fun but the Rougeaus put an end to that and retain. Bravo lived up to his strength but Tito eked out the win. Tito was always one of my favorite IC champs. Ariba! Demolition gets robbed but this leaves room for more to come. Great way to book Rude's win over Andre. I thought this was very creative and well done. Rude keeps his title, but Andre's still the boss. Awesome job with the Rumble write up. This is hard to do, but you made it so easy to read. Zeus looked like a beast, but then Earthquake looked unstoppable. Then comes Vader! The Rumble always gives us a surprise entry and you gave us a big one, wow! Vader was a monster! However, Warrior's the last man standing and goes to WrestleMania! This was genius. I thought Warrior was slipping or moving somewhere else after his earlier loss to Haku, but damn if he didn't redeem himself in the best possible way. I can't wait for the Warrior/Rude showdown! Excellent job!
  16. Hickerson is the perfect choice as commissioner. It's great seeing him back in our game. However, can he really control Lock? That was some freaky stuff! Winston gets in a nice showcase. The Mortons have arrived and are ready to rock n roll like their cousin Come on, there's got to be somebody out there who wants to be a wrestler. Just give Tony a call Precious and Pretty in Pink. The name alone is championship material. Get ready USWA.
  17. One thing's for sure, Luger will have plenty of challengers in 1990. Even though Sting's at war with the Horsemen, he's got some battles going with Gary Hart's men. I really like the mix of talent in WCW. A lot of tough vets along with exciting new era stars. Road Warriors and Rockers might have to settle things at WrestleWar. Martel wins the TV title in a wild one with Garvin! With all the factions, Brother Love's is the one holding a lot of gold. I can't wait to see how WrestleWar shapes up
  18. Lane finally scores the win, but a lot more is coming. Thrillseekers are rapidly rising the ranks The Brigade just isn't having any luck Stormfront have reconnected Piper and the Playboy Club will be one of PCWs biggest feuds. I can see that already. It's going to be a lot of fun 1990 could be Sabu's big breakout year Condrey's been taking it to the champs. I'm sure Cornette's already got rematch contracts in his hand Cow Palace, Busick and Douglas are reunited and I'm sure it feels so good. Bigelow promised to make waves in 90 and so far he's off to a good start Williams gets a dominant win over a tag champ Even with all the setbacks, Gunn (with a little bit of Piper's help) gets one over on Rose Maybe Austin does need some friends. Steamboat and Scotty tear it up. Fresno, Blondes score a nice win over a hot team The Money train are rock'n 6 man tags I'm with AD, Williams and Gordy are getting a tag title shot Lee bulldozers Blackman The Dreamboats worked so hard to get the titles and are working harder to retain them. Azul keeps the LHW title action in the main event slot.
  19. Loved the Hennig promo. I thought Hennig was going babyface hahaha. Very creative stipulation for the next title bout. I also loved Lawler's response. Add in Macho man's craziness and man you've got one hell of a story going. I'm thinking this is the last we'll see of Golden, well in Memphis anyways I have a feeling Brad's picked himself a pretty good partner. I don't think Dutch and DWB will be laughing long. Cold as Ice, what a great name. Damn, I can't imagine who Tojo's bringing in. Paul Bearer now has a couple of Takers. I would be nervous of these two for sure. There are some fresh match ups coming to Mid South Coliseum. Looks like Savage and Lawler really got into it again. Memphis is on fire!
  20. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 1-17-90 Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and happy new year! Welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. We hope you enjoyed last week's SuperClash 4 review. I'm sure that event will set the tone for the 90s here in the AWA. We've got a lot of action for you tonight. Our main event will see Brutus Beefcake go one on one with newcomer King Kaluha. Hulk Hogan will be here tonight to address his fans! Ok, let's go to the ring. 'The Future' JW Storm vs. Todd Rooney Storm comes out with his long black hair slicked back. He's wearing a leather jacket and both ears are pierced. He does look pretty cool. He works over Rooney with several impressive power moves before finishing him off with a lunging clothesline. Nelson: Ok JW Storm, you made quite a showing at SuperClash when you attacked Steve Disalvo after his match with Ken Patera. Why would you do that? Storm: Look, I made it very clear that I'm the future of wrestling. Disalvo prances around here in colorful tank tops and sunglasses while showing off his muscles. The guy wants to be cool so bad, but he just isn't. Somebody needs to put him in his place and that somebody is me. Commercial Break The Renegade Warriors vs. Carl Kellerman and William Hillman The Warriors are in sync tonight. Mark holds Hillman is a suplex position as Chris hits a flying press from the top rope for the win. Nelson announces that the Renegade Warriors are next in line for a shot at the National tag titles. On that note Nelson sends us to some pre recorded comments from the new National tag champs Latin Desire. Al and Lou Perez are getting massages by beautiful woman on the beach. Lou: Listening to you Al was the best thing I ever did. Look at me now, one half of the National tag team champs. Life is good brother. Al: It doesn't get any better brother. And this is only the beginning. I mean we've got it all. The looks, the talent, the charisma and all the tools to remain champs for a long long time to come. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, joining me now are Tony St. Clair, Les Thornton and Johnny Smith. At SuperClash, things got a little tense. Thornton: I'll take it from here Nelson. (looks at St. Clair) I'll get right to the point Tony. You embarrassed yourself and more importantly you embarrassed me and the Parliament. Carlos Colon defeated you at your own game. Do you know how much of a fool you looked like? It's clear to me that you just don't have what it takes any more. You're definitely not the man you used to be. Tony: You know something Les. I don't want to be that man anymore! I let money and arrogance rule my life for way too long. I was riding high on being simply the best and my ego went way out of control. No more! It's time I went back to my wrestling roots and get things done that way. Be the man my father would be proud of. Thornton: That's fine by me because I already have someone who will make the Parliament proud. He's been here all along and now he's going all the way to the top. I'm talking about this man, the British Bruiser Johnny Smith. Smith clotheslines Tony from behind! Smith stomps down on Tony, picks him up and swings him into the steel post. Smith hurls Tony into the ring. Smith follows. Smith hoists Tony on his shoulder and drops him with a running powerslam! Thornton: Oh yes. Mr. Smith will make me very proud. Good day Larry Commercial Break Ken Resnick is standing in front of an AWA banner, hyping up the January 25th card at the Mecca in Milwaukee. It's announced the main event will Hulk Hogan defending the AWA world title against Ken Patera. We go to a gym. Brad Rheingans is wearing a sweatsuit with a hat and whistle. He blows the whistle and we see Ken Patera doing some power lifting. Rheingans blows the whistle again and Patera drops the weights. Rheingans: I hope you're watching Hulk Hogan. If you are then you can clearly see that you're obviously no match for Ken Patera's strength. Patera: Hogan! In Milwaukee I'm going to break you in half! I'm stronger than you! I'm a better athlete than you! And most of all I'm more honorable than you! That's the kind of champion the AWA needs. Rheingans blows the whistle and Patera starts lifting again. Commercial Break Cactus Jack vs. Neil Jordan Jack's a wild man as he screams and laughs during the match. Jack hurls his opponent to the outside. Jack goes to the apron and hits a flying elbow drop off the apron! Jack slides back into the ring. The Ref counts to 10 and the match is over. Nelson: My goodness! (deep breath) ok, Cactus Jack, you surprised everybody, most of all Buzz Sawyer at SuperClash. Why Buzz? Jack: (maniacal laugh) Buzz says he likes to have fun. I like to have fun too. Bang! Bang! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans as you know the AWA has a lot of tag teams coming on the scene. Well, starting next week there will be an 8 team tournament to decide who the number one contenders will be for the AWA world tag team titles. On that note, let's go to the ring. AWA World Tag Team Champs the Rock n Roll Express vs. Sam Smith and Jay Moore Coming off their tremendous win over the Fantastics at SuperClash, RnR look better than ever as they win the match with the double dropkick. The fans roar as RnR hold up the titles Commercial Break We see a wrecking ball blast into a building. The building falls. Out of the dust and debris walk two men in construction hats and vests, holding sledgehammers. The Destruction Crew is coming to the AWA Larry Nelson is standing with Tiger Conway Jr. and Shaska Whatley. Whatley is wearing his top hat and suit jacket. Conway is holding a top hat and jacket. Nelson: Wow, it's been a while since I've seen the two of you together. Conway: OOOOHHH Larry, let me be the first to say that the Jive Tones are back in the AWA! Only this time around will be a little different. You see, I'm retired now but the Jive Tones are alive and well. Shaska and myself have been looking for the right man to wear this here top hat and jacket. Whatley: And we found that man! Conway: We sure did. Let me introduce to you, the newest Jive Tone. I'm talking about Skip Young! Young struts out. Conway and Whatley put the hat and jacket on him. Young and Whatley do a little Temptation dance. Nelson: I don't believe this. Sweet Brown Sugar, what are you doing? Young: Who is Sweet Brown Sugar? I don't know that fool. My name is Skip Young and baby I'm a jive tone! Whatley: We're talking about the Jiiiiiiive tones turkey! Conway: And we're coming for the titles baby! Nelson: (rolls his eyes) Unbelievable Commercial Break AWA International Champ 'The Red Rooster' Terry Taylor vs. Ray Glader Taylor's even more arrogant tonight and wins the match with the flying 5 arm. Nelson: Well Rooster, I guess congratulations is in order for retaining your title at SuperClash. Although I think Don Muraco was more concerned with the well being of Superstar Graham than the decision. Taylor: You'll never learn Nelson. I strategically won that match. And guess what? Here I am still holding the International title. This is my hen house and I run things around here. How many times do I have to tell you that? Now word is that David Sammartino is next in line. Somehow is survived against Larry Zbyszko but there's no way he's coming into my henhouse and taking my title. He doesn't have the brains or talent to get the job done. Come on Nelson, I'm the cock of the walk and you and all these people know it! Taylor slicks back his ponytail and flings it into the camera before strutting away. Commercial Break Brutus Beefcake vs. King Kaluha Beefcake is fired up after surviving the elimination match at SuperClash. He looks energized and ready to go. Kaluha comes to the ring wearing face paint and a lei around his neck. Wait a minute, what's going on here. Nelson Royal walks into the ring wearing his preacher suit and white cowboy hat. He walks over to Kaluha, whispers something in his ear and shakes his hand. Kaluha raises his arms in victory and exits. WHAM! From behind the HANGMAN attacks Beefcake! Hangman just pounds, clobbers and mauls Beefcake. Hangman ties his noose around Beefcake's neck and hurls him over the top rope and actually hangs Beefcake. Beefcake is fighting for his life. A swarm of prelim wrestlers and officials run out. Royal calmly walks over and whispers into the Hangman's ear. Hangman releases Beefcake. Nelson: Nelson Royal! What the hell are you doing?! Royal: From now on I would like to be referred to as Nell. Now I gave everybody fair warning that the Hangman was coming to clean up the AWA and all of its wrong doers. That man Brutus Beefcake is exactly what I'm talking about. Look at the clothes he wears. Look at how he dances around the ring. There's no room in my good world for a soul like him. It's now time for the Hangman to dispose of him. I'll be seeing you real soon Larry. Stay pure because I would hate for the Hangman to have to pay you a visit. Hangman puts the noose around Larry's neck, tightens it a little, then takes it off. Larry (grasping his neck) watches nervously as Nell and Hangman walk away. Commercial Break Larry must be still shaken up a bit, because Ken Resnick is in the ring. Resnick: My guest at this time is the AWA world champion, HULK HOGAN!!!! The place goes nuts as Hogan heads up the aisle while Eye of the Tiger blasts. Hogan's wearing jeans, tank top and headband. He enters the ring, takes the title off his waist and holds it up high. Resnick: Hulk, at SuperClash, you scored the biggest win of your AWA run over Nikita Koloff. You have to be feeling pretty good. Hulk: Well you know something Killer Ken, Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania is on cloud nine brother! First off, I have to give a shout out to my main man Mr.T! He saw what that no good Col. Debeers was doing and he put a stop to that nonsense real quick. After that Hulkamainia put an end to the Russian Nightmare's reign of terror. Now, Hulkamania is ready to rock the 90s brother! First up is you Ken Patera! At the Mecca in Milwaukee you and that pip squeak partner of yours are going to find out just how powerful Hulkamania is. And as for you Col. Debeers, if you want to go face to face with Hulkamania then bring it on! So Debeers, Patera and any other challenger out there, all I have to say is, whatcha gonna do when Hulk Hogan, the Hulkamaniacs and the power of Hulkamania run wild on you!!!!! Hogan poses
  21. I think Ranger Ross can get this gimmick over in this WWF era for sure. Fun set of promos to hype the Rumble. Zeus gets in a good showcase. The Rumble is a match that suits him well. Commonwealth looks good, but Heenan doesn't think they can handle the POP. We shall see. Rude seems ready for Andre. I can't wait to see what goes down in the cage. Great sit down with Nailz. I can totally see Mean Gene getting nervous. I'm with Monsoon, let's see what Bossman has to say. American Eagles seem to be soaring towards a title shot Funk handles the Doctor. I still expect big things from Prichard in the WWF. Bring on the Rumble!!
  22. Now that SuperClash is over, I can make this official. AWA has sent Nikita Koloff to WCW in exchange for Jim Neidhart
  23. Looks like Manny is recruiting Hillbilly Jim is off to a great start. Nicely booked finish And it looks like Bart accepted Manny's offer Look at that, the Bushwhackers are heading to the Rumble for a chance at some gold We're in for a hard hitting Bossman/Nailz feud Heenan and Rude make a great team. Rude survives this one but can he survive a cage match with Andre? I can't wait to find out
  24. Love the assistant to the regional manager title for JJ hahahaha You have such an interesting scenario going on with Luger, Sting and the Horsemen. I like Wahoo serving as a mentor to Tatanka. Rockers and Road Warriors could be a money making program. Both are at the top of their game. I'll never get tired of the Garvin/Martel feud. These guys just gel so well. I hope the Diamond Stud gets a big push. I liked this gimmick. WHOA! Nikita and Uncle Ivan are reunited and back for gold! Luger has a lot on his plate right now. Maybe Muta does deserve a world title shot. Rich gets the fall but JYD takes the beating The next couple months in WCW will be must watch TV.
  25. I'll say this, Maeda and Sayama earned their way into the finals. Sayama was clicking on all cylinders in his win over Karelin. Maeda has some huge momentum with a submission win over Vader. A lot of pressure following the semis but Nakano overcomes it and gets a nice win Tadeu will be someone to watch. I like the style he brings Wilhelm tries to work the clock but Funaki doesn't give up and takes it. Wearing gloves pays off for Smith. He was hitting hard tonight The Russians go the distance and hopefully a rematch can settle things Ruas has quietly racked up some impressive wins Wow, yea big upset by Ogawa. He delivered Allen some bad news. It all comes down to Maeda and Sayama! Even after some earlier incredibly tough bouts, these guys put it all out there. Props to both on a tremendous finale. I thought for sure Maeda would take the title, but Sayama wins it. The Sayama story is great movie material. I'm looking forward to his reign. He deserved this.
