AWA @ The Royal Albert Hall 3-9-89 Brenda Britton and AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow stand in the ring and welcome all the UK fans to this special AWA event. The British Bombers w/Skandor Akbar vs. The Rose Cousins Even with Akbar present, the Bombers get the homeland cheers tonight. The Rose Cousins are on their A game and almost spoil the Bombers homecoming night several times. In the end, Smith clips Pat behind the knees as Taylor hits his running forearm blast for the win. 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer vs. The Missing Link These two have been heading for a collision and the UK fans get to witness the explosive brawl. The match is declared a double c.o. early, but Sawyer and Link give the fans a few more minutes of brutal action until security swarms the scene to finally stop it. 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko vs. Iceman Parsons The UK fans prove to be just as annoyed with Zbyszko's stalling routine as the Americans are. Parsons starts off strong and pinballs Zbyszko all around the ring for the opening minutes. Eventually, Zbyszko comes back with a vengeance and really works over Parsons with scientific wrestling combined with aggressive heel tactics. Zbyszko gets a little too cocky while bantering with the fans. He goes for a body slam but Parsons cradles him for the 1..2..3! Parsons gets a huge pop as Zbyszko punches the canvas and throws a huge tantrum. AWA World Tag Champs The Guerreros and 'The Fortunate One' Gary Young w/The Vin Man vs. The Fantastics and 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi This match tears the house down for over 30 minutes. Both teams take the fans on one hell've a roller coaster ride. In the end we get a wild pier six brawl. Vinnie hops on the apron but Brandi dropkicks Young into him. The Fantastics double back drop Chavo, then nail Hector with a double dropkick to get the crowd pleasing win. Carlos Colon vs. Chicky Starr Rumors are that Colon's neck still isn't 100%, but after Chicky questioned his manhood, Colon wanted this match. Colon gives Chicky quite a beating and makes him bleed bad. Colon is relentless as he continues to pound on Chicky's bloody head. Things take a drastic turn when Colon attempts a Thesz Press but Chicky hangs on and hot shots Colon on the top rope, snapping his neck. The bloody Chicky staggers over and delivers a Hangman's Neckbreaker to get the win. Chicky gets the win but you wouldn't know it by looking at him. On the flip side, Colon needs help to the back. For the World Title Number 1 contender spot El Canek vs. 'Mean' Mark Miller Miller attacks at the bell and roughs up Canek pretty bad. Canek comes back and dazzles the crowd with his aerial moves. Miller stops the momentum with a low blow. Miller has things going his way and delivers a shoulder breaker to Canek but Canek survives. Miller charges Canek in the corner but Canek nails him head on with two boots to the face. Canek goes on a flurry and Miller's in big trouble. Canek swings Miller to the ropes and hits a flying forearm smash, then follows with a Senton off the ropes for the exciting win. Canek remains number one contender. AWA Mid American Champ 'Mr. Wonderful' Paul Orndorff and 'Big' Jim Morris vs. AWA Southern Champ 'Lethal' Larry Cameron and Kokina w/Skandor Akbar This is an exciting and hard hitting match up. The two champs Orndorff and Cameron are trying to prove who the better champion is, so they have some intense moments. Kokina and Morris get the fans going with their titanic like interactions. All four men end up in the ring fighting. Kokina and Morris trade some huge shots. The Ref is locked up with them. Akbar is on the apron, holding Orndorff. Cameron charges but Orndorff breaks free as Cameron clotheslines Akbar off the apron. Orndorff rolls up Cameron as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! BIG POP! Tony 'Simply The Best' St. Clair vs. 'The World's Strongest Man' Bill Kazmaier Kaz waits in the ring as the spotlight shines on the aisle. Tina Turner's 'Simply The Best' plays. St. Clair strolls down the aisle wearing a gold sequence robe. He's playing heel in the US, but in the UK, he's a legend. St. Clair gets in the ring and takes off his robe. He's wearing gold shiny tights, gold knee pads and shiny gold boots. Kaz gets in his moments and displays his awesome power as he slams and tosses St. Clair all around the ring. At one point St. Clair had Kaz in a headlock but Kaz hoisted St. Clair up and delivered a back suplex. Kaz looked to finish things off with his bearhug but luckily St. Clair punched his way out early. St. Clair gets things going his way and his wrestling experience comes into play. St. Clair nails Kaz with a rolling cannonball headbutt to the mid section, then takes the big man over with a floating butterfly suplex for the win. 'The Russian Nightmare' Nikita Koloff vs. Sgt. Slaughter Here we go! The bell rings and both men tear into each other. Nikita is raging and takes control. He punches Slaughter down in the corner and unleashes with several kicks and stomps. Nikita hip tosses Slaughter across the ring. Slaughter staggers up as Nikita puts him down with a flying shoulder tackle. Nikita continues to work over Slaughter but Slaughter weathers the storm and turns the tide when Nikita charges but Slaughter back drops him out of the ring. Slaughter goes to the outside and swings Nikita into the steel post. Slaughter chokes Nikita with a cable, then hurls Nikita back in the ring. Slaughter hits a gut wrench suplex and follows with a back breaker but can't put Nikita away. Slaughter clotheslines Nikita down, then clamps on the Cobra Clutch! The fans cheer Nikita on as Nikita fights it and backpedals Slaughter into the turnbuckles. Nikita regroups and pounds away on Slaughter, then hits a snap suplex followed by a jumping fist drop 1..2..Kick Out. Nikita swings Slaughter to the ropes and flips him over with a knee to the mid section. The fans go wild as Nikita sets up for the Russian Sickle. Slaughter staggers up as Nikita charges, but at the last second, Slaughter "accidently" bumps the Ref and Nikita nails the Ref with the Russian Sickle. Slaughter groggily rolls out of the ring as Nikita checks on the Ref. Another Ref runs into the ring and checks on the original Ref. While all that is going on, Slaughter gets back in the ring with a chair. Nikita turns around as Slaughter busts his head open with the chair. Slaughter tosses the chair as the 2nd Ref turns around. Slaughter picks up the lifeless and bloody Nikita and clamps on the Cobra Clutch. The 2nd Ref quickly looks at Nikita and signals for the bell. Slaughter twirls Nikita around and tosses him. The 2nd Ref raises Slaughter's arm then calls for the Medics. BOOOOOOOO! AWA World Title Bout Jumbo Tsuruta (C) w/Ray Stevens vs. 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong As the introductions are made, there's a commotion in the crowd when Austin Idol appears and heads for the ring. Security quickly stops him and escorts him out. The entire time, Idol is yelling and pointing up at Armstrong. Back to business as the fans cheer when the Ref holds up the world title. The fans get an entertaining world title match. Despite Idol's distraction, Armstrong is in the zone. He frustrates Jumbo with arm drags, headlocks, hip tosses and take overs. Jumbo rolls out of the ring as Stevens helps him regroup. Jumbo takes control with a flying knee to the head. Jumbo follows with a suplex flurry. German Suplex, belly to back suplex, gut wrench suplex and a hanging vertical suplex but Armstrong stays in it. Jumbo hoists Armstrong on the turnbuckles and goes for a Superplex, but Armstrong clocks Jumbo with fists and forearm blasts, eventually knocking Jumbo to the canvas. Armstrong shakes the cobwebs. Jumbo staggers up as Armstrong nails him with a diving clothesline. Armstrong swings Jumbo to the ropes and back drops him. Jumbo starts to rise but Armstrong nails him with a knee lift. Armstrong delivers a vertical suplex, swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Armstrong slams Jumbo, hops on the middle turnbuckles and crashes down with a forearm drop 1..2..Kick Out. Armstrong picks up Jumbo and drops him with the Jaw Breaker 1..2..Jumbo gets his foot on the rope. Armstrong swings Jumbo to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Jumbo stops, grabs Armstrong and hits a swinging neckbreaker. Jumbo catches his breath. Jumbo picks up Armstrong and executes a front face suplex. Jumbo follows with a brain buster. Jumbo goes to the top rope and comes down with a flying knee drop. Jumbo picks up Armstrong and delivers the Powerbomb 1..2..3! Stevens runs in and hands Jumbo the world title. Jumbo raises it high. Winner of the match and STILL AWA World Champ- Jumbo Tsuruta

WrestleMania 5 is stacked and ready to deliver. At this point, Andre and Snuka might be passed their primes, but they're still huge money making names. Putting them in a showcase tag match at Mania is smart booking. I like the shine put on the upcoming Herc/Bossman match. The pick your poison match makes the road to Mania so much fun.

No doubt about it, this Austin kid is going places. The Juice Crew take advantage of all the chaos and get the win. I like that Malenko has been sort of the measuring stick for the New Generation. Steamboat is a great fit as champ in PCW. He definitely has a lot of heels to work with. Bam Bam is on the right track but it seems he still has some work to do with the Exchange. The Warriors look good in their first title defense. On the flip side, the Southern Boys have really fallen on hard times. Pillman's injuries are taking a toll, but man he's a true fighting champ. Vancouver, I agree with AD, I always like to use outside interference and payback later on to further feuds. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Rose always manages to stay in the spotlight here. Severn and Payne were off tonight while the OWC seem unstoppable. Bret racks up another solid win. Steamboat proves his title win was no fluke. I'm so intrigued with what's going on during Windham's entrances. Kelowna, Can Ams have been lighting it up lately. It's cool that we both have a team called the Dragon Kings. For a while we both had Midnight Express teams going. Great stuff Scotty might have a claim for a LHW title shot. Dustin vs. Cactus is a fun match up. Looks like Stormfront will have to work their way back up for another title shot. Hall takes down Hennig once again. Regal's off to a good start with the CA title.

AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 3-8-89 Larry Nelson: Hello everybody and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. As you know, the AWA will be at the Royal Albert Hall in London tomorrow night. You will see highlights from that historic event next week. As for tonight, none other than the immortal Hulk Hogan will be inside the ring for another interview with Ken Resnick. I can't wait to hear what Hulk has to say. Also tonight, Brian Adias defends the AWA TV title against Bill Dundee. The San Juan Saints take on current rivals Vinergy. All that and a lot more, so let's go to the ring. Dory Funk Jr. vs. Trent Watkins Funk puts on another clinic as he takes his opponent to wrestling school and wins the match with the spinning toe hold. Commercial Break Footage from last week is shown as the British Bombers cost the Bruisers their match with Vinergy. The Bruisers vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez The Bruisers are pissed and it shows. Strong executes a swinging back breaker on Lopez, then tags in Busick, who finishes things off with the Spinebuster Slam! Bruisers cut a promo and say the Bombers are so lucky they're in the UK right now, but when they return, the Bruisers will be waiting, not with open arms but with fists ready to knock their teeth in! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, the AWA is really excited to be in the UK this weekend. As you know Jumbo Tsuruta will defend the AWA world title against Bob Armstrong. Also, after what happened last week, El Canek had no problem putting his number one contender spot on the line against Mike Miller. I think Canek just wants Miller in the ring, no matter what. Switching gears, I would like to bring over Spike Huber. Spike, it seems one Glamour Doll has had issues with you but so far, you've beaten him twice. As far as your concern, are these issues over? Huber: I'm not sure what his problem was with me, but yes, it's time for me to move on... WHAM! Glamor Doll runs out and nails Huber from behind with loaded bag. Huber is laid out on the ground. Doll pulls out some lipstick and colors Huber's face with it. Doll then pulls out another bag and pours glitter all over Huber. Doll smiles with approval and walks away. Nelson: (shaking his head in disgust at Doll) We're going to need some help out here. Commercial Break Cannonball Griz vs. Neil Jordan Griz is aggressive tonight as he angrily slams Jordan down. Griz goes to the middle ropes and crashes down with a splash for the win. Griz cuts a promo and warns Bill Kazmaier that he's not done with him Commercial Break Nelson: I'm here with Vinergy. In just a moment, you two will face the San Juan Saints. Now, the Vin Man is in the UK with Gary Young. Will that make a difference tonight? Putski: Hey, we're dedicating tonight's win to Vinnie. He's with us in spirit. Dukes: That's right. Hey, Vinergy's on a roll of a lifetime. You saw us put down the Bruisers last week, so all we can say is bring on the San Juan Aints! Vinergy vs. The San Juan Saints This is a high octane match with some heat. The tide turns back and forth and we see several pier six brawls. In the end all four men fight to the outside and around the ring, ending in a double c.o. They keep fighting into the commercial break. Commercial Break We come back and see highlights of Stan Hansen practically decapitating several wrestlers with his lariat. STAN HANSEN Is Coming to the AWA!!!!!! The Gunslingers vs. Harrold Bannister and Ray Glader The former National tag champs are in sync tonight and win the match with a double running bulldog. Nelson: Before I talk to the Gunslingers, I want to show you a special video sent to us by the AWA National tag champs, the Olympians. Ken Patera and Brad Rheingans are standing in a weight room. They're wearing sweat suits and the titles are around their waists. Rheingans: You know being an Olympian and a champion comes with a lot of duties and commitments. Well, one thing we want to do is help out future Olympians. Patera: That's right. Today, we want to bring in Jimmy. Jimmy is 12 years old and wants to be an Olympian weightlifter. Well, we're going to give him the proper guidance and advice he needs. Jimmy, come on over. 12 year old Jimmy walks over with excitement in his eyes. Patera: Ok Jimmy, show us what you got. Rheingans rolls out a bar with 300 lbs on it. Patera: Ok Jimmy, go ahead and do a simple overhead military press for us. Jimmy has an embarrassed and shocked look. Jimmy: Um Mr. Patera,, I can't do that. Patera and Rheingans look at each other and lower their heads. Patera: Jimmy, you've really disappointed us today. An Olympian never says the word CANT. Rheingans: Jimmy, you simply don't have what it takes. Patera: I was lifting twice as much as this weight when I was your age. Jimmy, this isn't for you. Go on, get out of here! Jimmy lowers his head and walks away. Patera: To be an Olympian and champion, you have to be something special, like us. That's why we're going to go down as the greatest champions of all time. The Olympians smile and pose, while holding up the 'number one' sign with their fingers. Back Live Nelson: I really can't believe what I just saw. Gunslingers, would you care to comment. Casey: That was despicable and low, even for the Olympians. Mantell: Hey Olympians, we're going to get those titles back and we're going to humiliate you as well. Let's see how you like it. Commercial Break AWA TV Title Bout 'Blockbuster' Brian Adias (C) vs. 'Superstar' Bill Dundee The bell rings but Adias is taking his sweet time taking off his sunglasses. Dundee has enough so he runs over, spins Adias around and punches him in the face. Adias's sunglasses fly off as Dundee pounds away on Adias. Dundee swings Adias to the ropes and puts him down with a back elbow smash. Dundee swings off the ropes and hits a jumping elbow drop 1..2..Kick Out. Dundee hoists Adias up and suplexes him back 1..2..Kick Out. Dundee swings Adias in the corner and charges in, but Adias lifts his knees and nails the charging Dundee in the face. Adias regroups. Dundee staggers up as Adias rakes his eyes and follows with a gut wrench suplex 1..2..Kick Out. Adias picks up Dundee and slams him down, then follows with a knee drop. Adias holds the top rope as he drops several more knees on Dundee. Adias chokes Dundee on the bottom rope, then swings off the opposite ropes and hits a body guillotine. Adias picks up Dundee and hits a Russian Leg Sweep 1..2..Dundee gets his foot on the rope. Adias argues with the Ref for too long. Adias goes for a suplex on Dundee but Dundee blocks it and suplexes Adias. Dundee shakes the cobwebs. Adias staggers up as Dundee unloads with Memphis style punches. Dundee swings Adias to the ropes and clotheslines him down. Dundee picks up Adias and swings him to the ropes, but when Adias swings back, he collides with the Ref. The Ref bounces over and down. Adias goes down and rolls out of the ring. Dundee is trying to wake the Ref up. Adias grabs his TV title off the ringside table and goes back in the ring. The Ref groggily gets to his knees. Adias is about to hit Dundee with the title but Dundee turns around, kicks Adias, grabs the title and nails Adias with it! Dundee covers as the Ref signals for the bell. Dundee gets up and celebrates. The Ref grabs the TV title and talks with the ring announcer. The Ref sets the title on Adias's chest and lifts his arm as the announcer announces that Dundee has been disqualified for hitting Adias with the title. BOOOOOOOO! Commercial Break Nelson: Ok fans, Ken Resnick is in the ring, so let's go to him. Resnick: Thank you very much Larry. AWA fans, here we go! Please welcome to the ring, the IMMORTAL HULK HOGAN! Eye of the Tiger blasts over the speakers. The fans go absolutely nuts as Hogan steps through the curtain. He stands there in jeans, Hulkamania tank top and headband. He looks around in awe as the fans roar. He points his fingers and heads down the aisle, slapping hands with the fans. He enters the ring and takes the cheers in. He nods and gives the fans the thumbs up. Resnick: (looks around in amazement at the fans reaction) Hulk Hogan, welcome to AWA TV. You had quite the debut at Title Night and judging by this reaction, the fans are behind you 100%. Hogan: Well let me tell you something Killer Ken! Hulkamania is now running wild in the AWA and nothing can stop this momentum brother! When Hulk Hogan arrived in the AWA, I told all my Hulkamaniacs that I wanted to face the best competition here and conquer Mount AWA. I'm a man of my word and I'm ready to back those words up. Hogan reaches in his back pocket and pulls out a piece of paper. Resnick: What might that be Hulk? Hogan: (holds up the paper) Right here in my hand is an open contract for the next AWA pay per view event in April. Champagne Slam brother! My name is already on it. I told you I wanted to face the best the AWA had to offer, so at Champagne Slam I will face any wrestler who puts his name on the dotted line. Resnick: I've got to say, that's a pretty bold challenge. Hogan: I'm here to prove to my Hulkamaniacs that we can take on any challenge put against us. There's a huge commotion in the crowd. A man wearing a bandana, jeans and cut off shirt approaches the ring. Resnick: My goodness! It's Terry 'Bam Bam' Gordy! Gordy walks into the ring and snatches Resnick's mic. Gordy: Oh yea, that's right! Terry Gordy is back from Japan and ready to rock! You know, when I was in Japan cracking skulls, all I heard about was Hulk Hogan is in the AWA. Hulkamania has arrived in the AWA. Hulkamania is going to run wild in the AWA. Well, let me tell you something Hulk Hogan, nobody runs wild on Terry Gordy! The last time I was here, I gave Kerry Von Erich such a beating that he packed his bags and left. That got me thinking. So, I've decided, I'm going to do the same to you! You want an opponent for Champagne Slam? You just got one boy! Gordy snatches the paper from Hogan and signs it, then throws the paper in Hogan's face. Hogan starts to boil as Gordy throws the mic back at Resnick and calmly exits the ring. Resnick: (gathers himself) I can't believe it. I was not expecting that. How about it Hulk? Are you prepared for Terry Gordy? Hogan looks around at the fans. The fans go wild as Hogan rips off his shirt. Hogan: Hell yes I'm ready! (Cheers get even louder) Terry Gordy! You're wrong and at Champagne Slam whatcha gonna do when Hulk Hogan, Hulkamania and all my Hulkamaniacs run wild on you! Eye of the Tiger blasts as Hogan does his poses.

Wow, Damien defeating Rotunda is a pretty big deal. No doubt about it, this elevates Damien. Robin playing heel along with a guitar gives her a fun gimmick. I miss Scarlet's Woman's Wrestling, so it's great that you're giving the woman a place to shine. Zenk takes down Steiner in another upset. Tremendous win for Zenk. Walker is rapidly rising the ranks. I think you have a future superstar on your hands. It's cool seeing Bradley and Lombardi getting to play with the main eventers. Teaming with Anvil and Borne does nothing but help their careers here. Fun ending. Exciting main event with a fun twist as the "babyface" team of Saito and Goto take down Rougeau and Charland. Very enjoyable. Some exciting things happening in Maple Leaf Wrestling.

Wrestlemania 5 is loaded! I agree with AD, Taylor is really getting into this feud LOL. Dusty sure is getting his Americana tour over. With the Rockers and Rhythm and Blues booked for big matches at Mania, it was smart keeping both teams strong on TV. With new matches signed, Rude vs. Tito should be a barnburner. I figured the Andre/POP angle was leading to a partner for Andre. The Superfly is back! Well, this certainly explains what happened with him in the NWA. Mania has something for everyone to enjoy. A stacked card with a Savage/Warrior main event. That's pretty damn big.

In a way, Scorpio beating Dynamite is a passing of the torch moment. Kamala goes nuts and gets banned. I can't imagine the monster Paul Jones is bringing in. Beasts of Burden sent a strong message tonight. Having Street around seems to be paying off for young Dundee. Well, if the fans can't get Snuka, Tommy Rich is a pretty damn good sub, especially in these parts. I have a feeling Landel is in line for something huge. Cooley vs. Anderson is a fun worldwide main event. Man, I can't wait for the Crockett Cup!

Paulson was tough but Sekishima's experience really came into play. When it came to stand up fighting, Shamrock was in control but the ground game was the key factor as Miyato scores the win. Anjo came out swinging but Funaki weathered the storm, regained control and finished things up nicely for the win. Kopylov played it smart to get the submission win over Fleming. Kopylov got some good buzz tonight. Zouev and Smiley give the fans a great grappling contest. The commentary team and I were both impressed by Smiley's victory. Wow, Zouev does look like a Von Erich LOL Brown looked awesome and that can only mean bad news for future opponents. Props to Marty for giving a 6'7" man a match. That finishing sequence by David sure sealed the deal. The Russians impressed the Japanese fans with their power and technique. Karelin tore the house down with his finisher. Karelin will give the fans and press a lot to talk about. Takada came to fight but man once Backlund got in the zone he really took it to Takada. Backlund evens things up. After 2 great matches, I'm hoping we get a money making rubber match. WOW! Shocker! Han gives Maeda his second loss in a row. What an upset. We'll see how Maeda regroups from this. Meanwhile Han is now well established. I like the direction the UWF is going. Now that a lot of foreign wrestlers have become known in Japan, this sets up a lot of intriguing possibilities.

The Southern Boys woes continue as the Wrecking Crews cements themselves as contenders. The reformed Blondes get the best of the fighting Irishmen. Taker showcases the chokeslam but Lee has certainly proven himself. The Soultaker has a pretty devastating finisher. Azul eeks out the win over Malenko in yet another LHW classic. Dreamer gets a very satisfying pin on Scotty. Jackal's methods come in handy, this time in a legit match. Well, when it counts, Christopher gets the job done. Rose obviously has a plan going. Night one ends with an incredible and thrilling title change. The Rainbow Warriors are back and better than ever! Night 2, Payne's previous injury is the difference here. However, the Syndicate still looked impressive. Jackal is nuts but a pissed off Cactus will be off the wall crazy. I love this feud going between the Can Ams and Phoenix. It's been a real gem. Say what you want but Rose always remains in the spotlight. Hall gets another high profile win but I have a feeling there's more coming with Hennig. Look at that, Austin pulls off the win and has got some real buzz going. Severn had one of the best title reigns in the game. However, right now is Haynes time. This will be one brutal title reign. Regal does it and I'm looking forward to his reign as CA champ. You've done an amazing job building Regal here. Thanks to DDP, the Destruction Crew walks out with their titles. After all this, we get a roller coaster ride of a main event. Steamboat is the man to finally dethrone Windham. Windham's reign was historic and now it's time for Steamboat to shine. Fantastic end, especially in Hawaii. Awesome show brother!

Ok, let's get to the ring. 'The Russian Nightmare' Nikita Koloff vs. Trent Watkins It's all Nikita as he wins the match with the Russian Sickle. Nelson: Fans, next Saturday night the AWA will be in the UK. Nikita Koloff, you finally get your match with Sgt. Slaughter at the Royal Albert Hall. Koloff: Sgt. Slaughter, I have waited 2 months for this match! One thing is certain, next week in London, you go down! Commercial Break 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko vs. Artie Ferrone Zybszko is his usual arrogant self and finishes things off with a swinging neckbreaker. Nelson: Larry, for some reason you antagonized Iceman Parsons last week. Well, it's been signed. You will meet Parsons at the Royal Albert Hall next week. Zbyszko: Wow Nelson, you are so informative. How are you still employed here? (long pause) Anyways, next week I'm going to teach that talentless Spudhead a lesson. He made the mistake of mouthing off to me and now he must take a trip to Larry Land. Commercial Break El Canek vs. Harold Bannister We now know Canek will get his AWA world title shot at Champagne Slam in April. He's tuned up and ready as he wins the match with a backbreaker followed by the Bow and Arrow submission hold. WHAM! From behind Canek is nailed by Mean Mike Miller! Miller follows the attack with 2 shoulder breakers! Nelson: Mike Miller! Just what is your problem? You attacked Leo Burke last week and now El Canek! Miller: Hey! I told you that the AWA better take notice of me and I'm making damn sure they do! Right now I'm issuing a challenge to El Stupid for his number one contender spot. If he doesn't accept than he doesn't deserve to be the number one contender. Commercial Break 'The Fabulous One' Steve Keirn vs. Carl Kellerman Keirn looks great tonight and wins the match with a reverse DDT. Commercial Break HULK HOGAN highlights are shown. Nelson: That's right fans, HULK HOGAN will be right here on AWA TV! 'The Foreman' Spike Huber vs. Glamour Doll Doll attacks at the bell and works Huber over. Doll chokes Huber on the bottom rope, then swings off the ropes and comes back with a body guillotine. Doll picks up Huber and hits a vertical suplex 1..2..Kick Out. Doll swings Huber to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Huber kicks him. Huber regroups. Doll staggers up as Huber clotheslines him down. Huber hops on the middle ropes and crashes down with a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Huber picks up Doll and goes for an airplane spin but Doll grabs the top rope. Both men struggle and end up going over the top rope and to the outside. The Ref starts the count. Both men stagger up at 8. Huber charges Doll but Doll back drops Huber into the ring as the Ref hits 10. The Ref raises Huber's arm while Doll throws a major tantrum on the outside. Commercial Break Sweet Dreams vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez Sugar hits a missile dropkick on Lopez and Dream follows with a jumping elbow drop for the win. Nelson: That attack you two pulled on the Dragon Kings might come back to bite you because you two will face them next week at the Royal Albert Hall. Sugar: Everybody knows that Sweet Dreams is the hottest team in the AWA and next week those two chumps are going to find out the hard way! Dream: Tell em Sugar! Listen up babay! Sweet Dreams is going all the way to the top and the Dragon Jesters are going to get trampled! Commercial Break AWA World Tag Champs The Guerreros vs. Ted Dobson and Ray Glader Chavo hits Glader with a punch to the mid section as Hector hits a sunset flip for the win. The Guerreros hold their titles up high. The fans go wild as The Fantastics hit the ring and blast the Guerreros with chairs! The Fantastics continue to swing down on the Guerreros with chair shots. A swarm of officials hit the ring. Commercial Break We see an elegant room with a fire going in the fireplace. Tony St. Clair is relaxing in a recliner, enjoying a drink. St. Clair: When you're simply the best you can enjoy all of life's pleasures. Well, the time has come. Yours truly will make my triumphant return to the AWA at the Royal Albert Hall. How fitting, don't you think? St. Clair sips his drink as Tina Turner's Simply the Best plays. Commercial Break 'Bullet' Bob Armstrong vs. Neil Jordan Armstrong is on fire tonight and wins the match with a Jaw Breaker! Nelson: Ok, Bob Armstrong, you get the opportunity of a lifetime next week at the Royal Albert Hall. You will face Jumbo Tsuruta for the AWA world title. Armstrong: Everybody's goal in this business is to become world champion and I'm no different. BOOS as Austin Idol walks out. Idol: You know, I just can't believe that this washed up has been is getting a shot at the world title. What the hell is going on here?! Armstrong: You have a short memory Idol. I whooped you and now I'm ready to win the world title. So, Idol, I don't have time for you. As you know, I have bigger and better things to worry about. Armstrong walks away. Idol: Don't you walk away while I'm talking! Hey! Ok, that's it! Armstrong is gonna pay! Bet on that! Nelson smiles as we go to commercial. Commercial Break Nelson: With me now is the AWA TV champ Brian Adias. Adias: Whoa Whoa Whoa! I take time out from my busy Hollywood schedule and that's the introduction I get? Just give me the mic Larry and get lost. Nelson happily gives up the mic and walks away. Adias: Ok action! Your reigning AWA TV champion Blockbuster Brian Adias is here! Next week will be the highest rated program ever on Sports Channel America because I will be successfully defending my television title yet again against some uncredited extra named Bill. I'm leaving now because I always leave on a high note. Commercial Break The Bruisers vs. Vinergy w/The Vin Man The Bruisers take turns pinballing Vinergy all over the ring. Vinnie tries to regroup his guys but they can't seem to deal with the Bruisers. After working Putski over, Busick puts him down with the Spinebuster Slam 1..2..Dukes breaks it. Strong comes in and pounds away on Dukes. While the Ref is trying to break them up, the British Bombers hit the ring and double clothesline Busick down. Putski rolls over and puts his arm on Busick. Vinnie yells at the Ref. The Ref turns around, dives over and counts 1..2..3! BOOOOOOOO Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, don't forget, right here, next week, the Immortal Hulk Hogan will be here. I can't wait for that. Right now please welcome out Ray Stevens and the AWA world champion, Jumbo Tsuruta. Stevens comes out wearing jeans and a brown suit jacket. Jumbo is wearing a black suit with the title on his shoulder. Nelson: Next week at the Royal Albert Hall, your man Jumbo Tsuruta will defend the world title against Bob Armstrong. Stevens: First of all, don't ever try and upstage the world champion by mentioning Hulk Hogan. You got that! Now as for Bob Armstrong. Bob, listen up and listen good. It seems you have some distractions going on with Austin Idol. My friend, you better be 100% ready next week, because Jumbo Tsuruta is coming to the UK for one reason and one reason only, to destroy you and retain his AWA world title. Understand this Bob, Jumbo is a human wrecking machine and he's going to run over you in London. Mow you down! After Jumbo is done with you, you won't even remember your own name! Jumbo holds up his title as the show ends.

I agree with the Dirt Sheets, I would say the Stud Stable has overthrown the Horsemen as the NWA's top stable. I still think there's a lot of value left in Landel and Orton. Looking forward to seeing what's next for them. Jones Army is looking strong but this situation with Whatley might change things. I wonder what's happening with Snuka. Very intriguing. With Assassin by his side, I could see Slater making a serious run at Garvin. NWA is on the right track.
-
If WCW wants to get the Woman's division going, Medusa vs. Richter is the match to showcase. Arna and Tully escape with the titles but I'm sure Funk and Murdoch will get a rematch. Flair retains in a classic thriller. I wonder what's next for Dibiase. The Mayhem match was off the charts. No worries Kev, it was well written and easy to follow. Humungous went over strong with the biggest moment eliminating Sting. I loved all the excitement here with the Debeers angle, Piper/Muraco and Snake. Hot Stuff Inc. and Norton getting in a big moment. Obviously the big story here is Lawler winning and setting up the huge money match with Flair in Memphis. Awesome event and what a way to set up WrestleWar.
-
AWWWW man, poor Raymond finally gets his chance but Walker was on his A game tonight. Damn! Damien really did a number on Jacques. We've got a big feud now. It's Anvil's time! Loved the ladies match. Very well written and a lot of fun to read. Graham vs. Bradley was also a fun match to read. I agree with Kev, really liked the details. Huge way to end the show as Davey Boy Smith captures the TV title! Great show!
-
Things are really heating up on the road to WrestleMania. I loved the Andre swerve. Perfect set up for Andre to find a partner to take on the POP. The Mania card is stacked. I think Martel and Muta are going to steal the show. A lot of intriguing match ups. The build has been so well done.
-
What a stacked card! So many intriguing match ups, but I can't wait to see a determined Backlund.
-
Flair vs. Dibiase is going to rock Miami! I can only hope Jarrett signs Debeers vs. Reed. I think Powers has met her match. Love the slow burn with Jake. He's in a perfect mix right now with Piper and Muraco. If WCW is going into Memphis, then it makes total sense for Lawler to be a part of that. Can you imagine a Flair/Lawler world title match at the Mid South Coliseum. MONEY! Arn and Tully vs. Funk and Murdoch. Oh yea, Mayhem in Miami! I like hearing about the Power Plant. Good way to bring attention to the new guys coming in.
-
All I can say is the Haynes /Severn match is going to be awesome. Finlay's guidance is working wonders. Lynn and Malenko show why the LHW division is on fire. Regal has serious momentum going for his upcoming CA title shot. Rose is working a plan for Pillman but never underestimate the TV champ. He's proven that. LA Tenryu is another guy who's been on a path of destruction. Blackman wins a real fight. When Adams hits the superkick...it's over. Steamboat keeps racking up pins against Windham and cohorts. Hmmmm, Bam Bam gets the evil eye. It seems only Windham knew what that triangle meant. However, he regains focus and gets in another huge title defense. Santa Barbara, I think anyone from the New Generation is ready for a shot at Christopher. Awesome is ready to go with Pillman. I also think Pillman is more than ready for Awesome. Patriot picks up a nice solo win. Armstrong did what he could. Dustin's ready for his big Aloha title defense. The stage is set!

WHAM! From behind Mean Mike Miller nails Burke with a forearm blast. Miller stomps on Burke's shoulder, then hurls him out of the ring. Miller: At Title Night, that TV title shot should've been mine! That loser lying there in pain didn't deserve it. Maybe now people will take notice of Mean Mike Miller! Commercial Break 'Mad Dog' Buzz Sawyer vs. Trent Watkins Sawyer pounds his opponent before finishing him off with a powerslam! Speaking of excitement, let's go back to Title Night and hear the words of the immortal Hulk Hogan. Hogan's Title Night promo is shown. Nelson: Yes, Hulk Hogan is in the AWA and he will be right here on TV in 2 weeks. That's right, HulkaMania will run wild right here in 2 weeks. Commercial Break Winner gets an AWA TV title shot in 2 weeks 'Superstar' Bill Dundee vs. 'The Fortunate One' Gary Young w/The Vin Man These guys have a nice back and forth match. Dundee goes to the top rope and crashes down with the Bombs Away 1..2..3!! Huge Pop! Commercial Break 'Thrilling' Tom Brandi vs. Neil Jordan As Brandi heads to the ring, Young and Vinnie are staggering to the back. Brandi grins at them. As Brandi enters the ring, Young and Vinnie attack him. Young sets Brandi up and drops him with a tornado DDT. Vinnie gets in a few more stomps. It's obvious Brandi can't compete tonight. Commercial Break Sgt. Slaughter vs. Vic Dutro Slaughter is all over Dutro and wins the match with the cobra clutch! Nelson: Sgt. Slaughter, I think you made a grave mistake costing Nikita Koloff the AWA world title at SuperClash. Slaughter: Shut up puke! That no good commie has fell into my trap. I want a fight! My mission is to rid the AWA of poison like Koloff. I will accomplish that mission when that coward is ready to fight me man to man, face to face. (looks at Nelson) You're dismissed! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, I've got more big news for you. As you all know, our next big pay per view will be Champagne Slam on Saturday April 20th, from Market Square Arena. I can tell you right now that El Canek has chosen that date for his AWA world title match. Speaking of the world title, I wanted to bring out Iceman Parsons. The fans cheer as We are Family blasts on the speakers. Nelson: Iceman, at Title Night, you gave the world champ Jumbo Tsuruta a real test.... Boos as Larry Zbyszko storms out. Zbyszko: You know, I've had enough of what's going on around here. Why are you wasting time talking to this jerk (points at Iceman)? You should be talking to the real number one contender. Parsons: Oh, you mean El Canek? Zbyszko: (long pause and distain look) Oh I didn't know you were such a comedian. I just thought you were a talentless spud head. Parsons pushes Zbyszko but before anything else happens, several officials run out to stop it from escalating. Zbyszko keeps yelling at Parsons as the officials back him away. Commercial Break AWA National Tag Team Champs The Olympians vs. Samson Smith and Marvin Masters Rheingans hits a gut wrench suplex and tags in Patera. Patera clamps on the full nelson and it's all over. Nelson: Fans, your new AWA National Tag Champs, the Olympians. I have to say, as Olympians, how do you feel about the way you won those titles? Rheingans: We feel great! Why wouldn't we? We're going to bring honor, pride and most of all credibility to these National Titles. Patera: That's right. The way things ought to be. But you know what really put a damper on our title win? The un sportsman like conduct of the Gunslingers. We offered them a handshake and they couldn't even give us that. What a disgrace. Rheingans: Shameful! Patera: Well, we're going to put that disgraceful act behind us and move forward. The Olympians are ready to face all the great tag team competition the AWA has to offer. We promise to defend these National titles with integrity and dignity. Rheingans: You can count on that! Olympians give a thumbs up and hold up the titles as the fans boo. They look around and can't believe they're being booed. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, before we get to our main event. Joining me now is Carlos Colon! The fans are up and cheering as Colon comes out wearing a nice suit and waving. Nelson: Carlos, welcome back. We haven't seen you since SuperClash. How's the neck? Colon: Thank you very much Larry. As you know I've been in many in ring wars and have suffered my share of injuries. At SuperClash, that was one of the worst things that's ever happened to me. I'll be honest, thoughts of retiring went through my mind. I wasn't sure if I could come back the same. Boos as Chicky Starr comes out. Starr: Well, well, well, my old friend Carlos. It has been a while and I can't believe what I'm hearing. What happened to you man? You have become very weak my friend. Very soft. Pathetic. You have really disappointed me. Chicky walks away shaking his head. Colon: Let me make one thing clear... Wham! Chicky hits Colon from behind with a chair to the back, then just walks away. Colon is on the ground favoring his back. Colon grimaces as he slowly stands. Colon: Chicky, I will show you the man I am! Commercial Break 'The World's Strongest Man' Bill Kazmaier and The Rose Cousins vs. Cannonball Griz and The High Chiefs As you would expect, this one starts out with a pier six brawl and fists flying. The Ref lets it go for a bit, then finally gets control. Kaz puts his strength to use with power moves. The Roses southern fighting is in full throttle. Griz comes back with power moves of his own. The High Chiefs put their brutality to work. After a few minutes of see saw hard hitting action, we get another pier six brawl. Sounds like bad news for the UWF wrestlers. I can totally see Backlund going all out in his training. I'm excited for the huge rematch.

SuperBrawl 2! Here we go! Baby Doll helps give her trio the win to kick things off. Boogie Woogie Man gives Uncle Ivan a taste of his own medicine. The Mastermind lives up to his moniker as his stable retains the 6 man titles. The Sheepherders get the win, but now they have to deal with the Nightmares. WHOA, I wonder what's up with Snuka? He looked pissed after the match. Assassin has picked up a major acquisition in Slater. I have a feeling Manny will be back for more. Mastermind strikes again and now we have a NEW US champ! One of my favorite events of the year is coming! Horsemen had the right idea, but in the end, they couldn't control Animal. Great visual at the end. After all the interference tonight, Garvin puts his own spin on things and KOs Orton to retain. I enjoyed this card. Every match meant something. Great job!
-
I really like the ladies getting a lot of shine here. Royal's a pretty loyal friend and partner. I wonder if this will last. PCO is getting over big time. I would like to see a Borne/Anvil showdown. Come on, give Raymond a chance. Von Erich vs. Rougeau is a money making match here. Anvil and Saito are two powerhouses that can go. They proved that tonight. Anvil has established himself as the man here.

It's WrestleMania season! The card is stacking up. I'm all over the Martel/Muta match. I love the idea of the Dusty Americana tour. It gives Dusty something to really sink his teeth into. Very interesting Brother Love show. I was shocked to see Fuji's offer to Andre. Say it aint so Andre. The Von Erich's are setting the WWF on fire. All this and a Savage/Warrior main event. The fans are going to blow the roof off the Spectrum. Cool poster for Mania!

Oh man, Debeers is going to start causing riots. I can't wait until Reed, Atlas or Simmons gets a hold of him. I like how your booking Humongous as the unbeatable monster. I can't wait to see which babyface powerhouse steps up to him. Awesome way to introduce Jarrett's counter to Powers. Bad timing for a Long Riders comeback. No way was this going to overshadow the return of the RnR Express. Very cool Piper's Pit. We get another classic Jake promo followed by a vicious attack by Muraco. The thing about Jake is we really don't know what he was thinking during that attack. Piper, Jake and Muraco, what a segment. The King has returned to Tennessee! What a great moment! There's so much Lawler can do in WCW. The Freebirds and Grapplers will always give you what you expect. First off, wow Tully and Arn are the new world champs! Next, Dibiase scores the pin on Flair! Flair/Dibiase world title matches are going to be money! You can't go wrong here. Great show Kev!
