  1. Along the lines of the recent thread about finishes, this is one where the finish hurt the match a bit because of the fan. No ones fault, it just distracted everyone from Hogan going unconscious. However, this is a good spectacle match and I'm wondering if this is the best NWO main event?
  2. I love his trailing off and walking away leaving Gene to speculate. There's great stuff coming up in 1997.
  3. Piper is really good at doing the "ah shucks I'm just an old man" gimmick. It gets me too, it's really endearing. This is maybe my favorite Hogan segment of all time. Just completely driven insane by losing a match and now he's lying and crying and strutting all at once. Giant looks great here as well with Bagwell flying from out of no where and him brutally tossing around the NWO B team. Awesome angle to finish up the year, everyone was so good here.
  4. I agree with this. If it's a booking issue, like Brock vs Cena from Extreme Rules, it doesn't hurt the match for me at all. If it's a flat finish because of the work in the ring, that's when I think a match is hurt. As a side note, I think some people tend to think a non-clean finish equals a bad finish.
  5. I really didn't have a problem with the booking last night. I didn't think any of the matches were very good, but as far as the outcome of the tournament, I have no issues. I'm actually really into it because I LOVE Sheamus. Here's my take, I don't know what the original plans were, but to me having Sheamus as a transitional Hampton to eat up some down time is a good move, and I'd argue it protects Reigns and Ambrose. Like Meltzer said, if Reigns is your guy, you don't want his big title win as a face to be met with boos. He's improved a lot this year and I think people are starting to get behind him. If you give it to Ambrose, who I hate btw, just to lose at Rumble or something then everyone would be mad. I heard someone say that the best thing would have been to turn Reigns heel and have him go on a run as a badass heel, which would give him experience controlling matches and would inevitably turn him back face. I think that would've been a great move but it doesn't result in Sheamus being champ so I don't care. Dude yes, I'll lose my mind for these. Sheamus rocks.
  6. "Nate the Rat" serving Jerry the King Lawler Coca-Cola in a crystal glass. An absolute delight. I'm curious if there's a music video with Lawler singing some of his songs. Whoa Jerry sends Nate off to McDonalds to get him even more Coca-Cola! Awesome!
  7. Boss Man and Jake the Snake are a formidable team. Again, I'm sad to see Damien in a sack.
  8. Yes more Buster Douglas. I was as worried as Mean Gene when he said he was going out drinking, but luckily it's just milk! He rocks.
  9. Warrior takes a stiff clothesline from Earthquake. After we get another hard psych freakout from Warrior. I think his promos are legitimately good. Hulk's are worthless just give me more ultimate promos.
  10. Whoa Sherri has the best promo of everyone here. Super brutal and aggressive. Hogan looks so chubby, I can't get over it. Hahaha Buster Douglas looks like a scared little boy during his promo, very heartwarming. I also thought he was British? I'm really enjoying Douglas here, he seems very nice. "He's too polite!"
  11. I've never seen someone grab the front of someone's tights go gain leverage before. Would've liked to see the full match here, as Memphis singles matches are still a mystery to me. Great post-match promo, of course.
  12. Arn an Flair look super hard walking to the ring with their belts on. Classic Arn stooping early on, followed by an out of control brawl which was cool to see so early. The shine segment is a bit like a Disharge song, in that once you think the segment is going to end, it just goes another round. Once Arn rolls out to the floor it feels like they are going to take over, but nope, it goes another minute before they really take control. Kind is a strange structure but I liked it, and mostly because everyone worked hard.
  13. The quick cut to the car driving on a wet street between clips really cracked me up for some reason. The USWA music video strikes again. This is kind of bizarre and feels like Bill Dundee has died.
  14. Flair's TV matches from 90 and 91 are all good. This one isn't quite as good or intense as the one from April 91 (or 90, I can't remember) but still very good. The chop exchanges are super meaningful given that Pillman is a "Flair guy." Cool finish, hot angle with Luger and the Horsemen afterwards, great ending to the show.
  15. Awesome vibe here. The Horsemen feel really dangerous here, and Lex looks like such a bimbo. His face while Ole is talking is priceless.
  16. Bockwinkel was the only guy besides Zybyszko who could actually rap to the beat in the Wrestlerock Rumble. RIP.
  17. My friend's neighbor had a power glove and the thing didn't work, or we were too little and stupid to work it. I think it only worked with certain games maybe? We tried it with like Mario 2 or something and it didn't do anything. In The Wizard they used it with a racing game.
  18. The lady matches Lawler here, good for her. However, Lawler's use of "Look at this guy" and pointing is so genius and as much as I hate this term, "next level." I also really enjoy when he finds someone who agrees with him he's really nice. Oh, the lady he made the mailbox crack to was not as impressed with The King as we all are. What a square.
  19. Lawler is comparable to Fred Willard in the Christopher Guest movies. The guy just goes non-stop for hours and it's all hilarious and perfect. He's a punisher in the best way possible.
  20. JYD is in sad shape around this time. I don't like that Meltzer would call him Junk Food Dog. The guy was having personal problems! Anyway, Lawler insulting people's intelligence is excellent. Just calling someone an idiot or calling them stupid, man, so great.
  21. Wait this isn't Mike Shaw? I just had to look him up on wikipedia and it's One Man Gang?! I had no idea. This is cool though I don't know where these storylines are going so I'm interested to see how it all plays out, presumably at WMVI?
  22. I thought Hogan said "The Gods are JACKED, honey..." instead of Jack Tunney. Hogan referencing "we" is a stroke of genius. Warriors promos are all awesome and I think legitimately good. The guy is pulling out the most bizarre language and the imagery is off the charts here. Totally sick stream of consciousness promo and I can't wait to see these escalating for the next couple months.
