  1. Sorry to see you go.
  2. USWA WRESTLING: 4/1/1984: WTBS SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY 5:05-6:05 TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s ring in our first guest.” Jerry Lawler and Tommy Rich, still bandaged up from last night’s attack open the show at the interview desk. Lance Russell begins by asking about their health. Both admit to being a little banged up but say they will be ready for to defend their USWA World Tag Titles in a few weeks against the Shogunate. Lawler then changes the direction of the interview and focuses on Austin Idol who hit him with a chair last night. Lawler is pipping mad but also has a smirk on his face as he says he is wondering what it must be like to be Austin Idol today. Lawler says he came into last night’s match just moments after being beaten 3 on 1 by the Shogunate. His head was bandages, he was hobbling on one foot and still Idol couldn’t beat him. Lawler says if, and that is a big if, Idol is still the champ after he faces Jimmy Valiant at Roundhouse Revival, Lawler will get the next title shot and that Idol better just hand him the belt. Gordon Solie thanks them for their time and says it is time to head to the ring for the first match of the night which includes the #1 contenders for the USWA National Tag Titles, The Fabulous Ones. Match: The Fabulous Ones vs The Nightmares Just like last night when the Sheepherders manhandled their opponents, tonight the Fabulous Ones are in complete control. The match ends when Steve Keirn tags in Stan Lane. Keirn scoops up Nightmare #1 onto his shoulders while Lane climbs to the top rope. Lane comes off with a top rope clothesline and that is all she wrote. The Fabulous Ones high five their fans on their way to the interview desk where they say that don’t care what the Sheepherders say about not giving them another title shot. They say Jerry Jarrett said whoever won last week between them and the House of Humperdink would receive the title shot at Roundhouse Revival and they one. They continue on about the only reason the Sheepherders don’t want to face them is that they are afraid. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Sir Oliver Humperdink and Crusher Ottman are at the interview desk where Lance Russell asks him what his complaint is this weak. Humperdink tells Pencil Nose to Shut Up but that he does have a few complaints. First, he is sick and tired of The Iron Curtain commies interfering in his matches. He can’t wait to get them in the ring and get even with that low life Korchenko and his “comrades,” Smirnoff and Markov. Next, as usual, Humperdink is all over Jerry Jarrett for not giving his team of Sawyer and Hernandez a title shot at Roundhouse Revival. He is sick and tired of this organization keeping his men down because they don’t like him. They know if his House ever gets a title shot or two, they would be in complete control of all the belts in the USWA. Humperdink says that Crusher Ottman is now going to show these fans what he can do. He reminds Lance Russell and Gordon Solie that Ottman has only been training with him for a few weeks and he is already unbeatable. He continues on saying that his opponent, Mr. Bigelow, has been trained by the ”King” Jerry Lawler for months and has like two wins. Gordon Solie says, “fair enough Mr. Humperdink. It is time to get to the ring. Mr. Bigelow is already waiting.” MATCH: Crusher Ottman with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Bam Bam Bigelow Now this is a match between two big men. Ottman 6’3, 385 and Bigelow checks in at 6’4 3’40. The first few minutes each wrestler tries to bully the other with his power but that turns out to be a stalemate. Bigelow, who is very agile for his size, catches Ottman off-guard with an amazing drop kick for his size. He follows this up with a diving head-butt. Humperdink is beside himself as his man might go down to this wild and untamed rookie. Humperdink helps in any way he can. After a recovery by Ottman, he whips Bigelow into the ropes and catches him in a Bearhug. Bigelow tries everything to break the hold but can’t get free. After a moment. Ottman actually runs with Bigelow in his arms and slams him into the turnbuckle. Ottman covered him for the 3 count and he escapes with the victory at 9:31. Once again, Jerry Lawler comes to the interview desk and is clapping his hands! Lance Russell says he understands that his man Bigelow had a pretty good match but he is surprised at how happy Lawler is with a loss. Lawler starts to speak and says last night, Dave Brown made it sound like two men at once couldn’t beat Ottman and tonight, his rookie trainer almost beat him. Humperdink heads to the interview desk where he really let’s Lawler have it and puts down Bigelow as a good for nothing fat slob! Lawler continues to laugh and laugh. Finally, Humperdink asks what Lawler is laughing about. Lawler just asks if Humperdink called Bigelow a good for nothing fat slob. Humperdink says he did and there is nothing he can do about it. Lawler once again begins to smile and says his could for nothing friend in the ring was actually good for $5000. Humperdink asks what Lawler is talking about. Lawler says that on the first night of USWA Wrestling, Humperdink said that any man that could last 5 minutes with any of his men would win $5000 and that last match lasted over 9 minutes. The crowd goes wild as Humperdink says that match was not announces as a challenge match and that he is not going to pay anything. This brings Jerry Jarrett out and he demands Humperdink pay Bigelow $5000 or else they will garnish his wages. Humperdink yells and screams about how Jarrett is just out to get him and that he is going to sue the USWA for everything it is worth. Jarrett just says another week, another law suit by you. He then asks Humperdink how many of these ridiculous lawsuits he has one. Humperdink says nothing and Jarrett finishes the segment by saying PAY UP OR ELSE! __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: DIRTY DUTCH MANTELL with ROCK RIDDLE VS PVT. DON KERNODLE The match was really entertaining. These two have been wrestling mostly in tag matches of late but this singles match really amped up the crowd. The end came when Ref Paul Morton was knocked down which allowed Rock Riddle to trip Kernodle. Dutch used this to his advantage as he hit back to back leaping elbows to the head of Kernodle. Morton recovered in time to see the cover and counted out Kernodle. Dutch celebrated in the ring when all of a sudden Baron Von Raschke and The Spoiler hit the ring and really gave it to Kernodle. Baron, with his raspy voice could be heard calling Kernodle nothing but a weak and pathetic American. CPL Kirchner rushed in to aid his partner but the ClawMasters for the second straight week ran away to the locker room. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MAIN EVENT: MR. USA TONY ATLAS AND HACKSAW BUTCH REED VS ROWDY RODDY PIPER AND ERNIE LADD After last week’s Piper’s Pit where Ladd and Piper agreed to help each other rid USWA of Atlas and Reed, this match was inevitable. The match was wild as the fan favorites used some big power moves early in the match but they were never able to gain a pin. Piper and Ladd did what they do best. BREAK EVERY RULE IN THE BOOK! From low blows to throwing their opponents into the steel barricades, Ladd and Piper were giving the muscle bound favorites everything they could. With TV time winding down, Atlas escaped a double team and tagged in Reed who hit the ring like a bull in a china closet. He quickly emptied the ring and neither Piper nor Ladd seemed in hurray to get back in. When Piper finally did, Reed was still in complete control. He caught Piper in a backbreaker rack and as Ladd tried to make the save, Atlas close lined him. Piper was screaming and looked ready to submit when Thunderbolt Patterson hit the ring causing the DQ. Sweet Brown Sugar soon rushed to the ring making it 3 on 3 until the Sheepherders and Fabulous Ones rushed to the ring and 10 superstars battled it out. Just before the show came to an end and with Lance Russell saying you cannot believe the mayhem we just had, the fan favorites, to the delight of the crowd gained control of the ring. Gordon Solie ends the show with “So long from Memphis.” The Credits roll while the chaos continues. The screen fades to black.
  3. Truly one of my favorite shows I have read in this game. The opening had me hooked from the get go. It was wonderfully done. I have an idea of where this might be going but I will not say as I don't want to play spoiler. If it is what I think, you should have been a promoter in real life. You have a great roster but you are still developing a great pecking order where your Megastars are beating your Superstar and your superstars are beating your stars. From Tully and Gino to the Fantastics to the Tag Team Tournament! From Dr. Death to KKB to Rude! Hacksaw to TA to Muraco! You have your own Hall of Fame going.
  4. USWA WRESTLING: 3/31/1984: WTBS SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY 6:05-8:05 TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. Ref Paul Morton disqualified Reed but one can bet that this will not be the last time these two go toe to toe. · TAG TEAM OF THE WEEK: The Shogunate The group of Tojo Yamamoto, Mr. Saito and Killer Khan had a perfect week going 3-0 including a huge win over The Fabulous Ones when Tojo, who was not official involved in the match, tripped up Stan Lane and Saito followed it up with a Saito Suplex. · Wrestler of the Week: Crusher Ottman The newest member of the House of Humperdink used his size to pummel some of the talent in the USWA. Rich says he will be fine for the title against the Shogunate at Memphis Roundhouse Revival. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: The Iron Curtain (Korstia Korchenko, Alexis Smirnoff and Kris Markov vs The Fort Bragg Brotherhood (Pvt. Kernodle and Cpl. Kirchner) and Skip Young. The match gets the crowd into right away. It is USA vs Russia and that evokes such emotion. The Iron Curtain comes to the ring waving the flag of the Soviet Union and the fans really let them have it. Kernodle comes to the ring wearing a USA bandana and he has extras which he tosses to the crowd. The Iron Curtain waste no time and attacks before the bell. It is a wild scene for about 5 minutes as the Russians are pummeling the Americans. The action finally settles down but The Russians are still in control. All of a sudden the House of Humperdink walk out to ringside. The site of Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer, Hercules Hernandez and Crusher Ottman seems to be making the Iron Curtain nervous. Korchenko lost focus and went to the ropes to yell at Humperdink’s stable and Sweet Brown Sugar snuck up from behind and gained the victory by an old fashion roll up. The House of Humperdink seem happy and walk away with a smug, mission accomplished smile on their faces. The Iron Curtain is beside themselves and again attack their opponents but this time the Americans are ready for them and wipe the mat with them. The fans go wild and are chanting USA, USA as Gordon Solie calls for our next break. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: USWA NATIONAL TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Sheepherders vs Brett Wayne and Ted Allen The Sheepherders are flawless and ruthless in this match. It surprised many at how easily they won. The end came when Luke Williams grabbed his partner’s head and used it as a battering ram on Ted Allen. The Sheepherders head to the interview desk where they are irate. Williams leads the way saying how Jerry Jarrett is trying everything to take their titles. He is really agitated that The Fabulous Ones have been named the new # contenders for the belts. Miller they just beat them in the Omni and they refuse to wrestle Lane and Keirn again. This brings Jerry Jarrett to the interview desk where he tells the Sheepherders that if they do not wrestle The Fabulous Ones at Memphis Roundhouse Revival, they will be stripped of their tittles. The Sheepherders off yelling and screaming. Gordon Solie, smiling, announces “we will be right back after these messages. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: Jimmy Valiant vs Dirty Dutch Mantel with Rock Riddle Dirty Dutch is trying to aid Austin Idol, another member of the Perfect Stable. Idol is to face Valiant for the World Title on August 23rd at Roundhouse Revival. Jerry Jarrett said last week if any member of the Perfect Stable laid a hand on Valiant at any time other than a sanctioned match, Idol would be stripped of his title. As far as the match goes, it is a wild one with many momentum turns. As Valiant seemed to gain control, the other members of the Perfect Stable, Idol and Bobby Jaggers, came to ringside trying to intimidate Valiant. The Boogie Woogie Man paid them no mind as he knew they couldn’t interfere in the match. He follows up a big bodyslam with a diving elbow and gained the pin over Mantell at 13:10. After the match, he walked right by the rest of the stable to the interview desk. As only the Boogie Woogie man can, he starts ranting about how he can’t wait to get Idol in the ring and did those “daddy O’s” think they were going to bother me tonight. He tells the fans that they are all invited to his party after he wins the World Heavyweight Title and together they will party like “Charlie Brown from Outta Town.” Lance Russell seems confused but says it sounds like fun. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Piper’s Pit with Special Guests Ernie Ladd and Thunderbolt Patterson Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and stand behind him with their arms folded. Piper calls out Patterson and Ladd and they both shake hands with Piper. Piper praises the two for a few minutes about their wrestling ability but also how they don’t bow down to the low life American fans, the smug USWA Board of Directors, and most importantly, to the untrustworthy American Government. Patterson and Ladd agree with everything Piper has to say and they can’t believe how corrupt this country is and all they are trying to do is to get a fair shake in their own county. All three admit to being totally confused at how those out of shape, no good country hicks, Tommy Rich and Jerry Lawler are given such favoritism here in the USWA. The segment turns to Hacksaw Butch Reed and Mr. USA, Tony Atlas and all three begin to almost foam at the mouth in such anger. Ladd and Patterson say that they will not stop until those Uncle Toms are out of the USWA and Piper agrees to help. The three embrace as the segment ends. The fans are a little nervous at the merger of these three men. They know from experience that Reed and Atlas better have eyes behind their backs. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: Mr. Saito vs Steve Simpson Mr. Saito truly beats on Steve Simpson beyond belief. Suplex after Suplex is followed with Saito pulling Simpson up after a count of two as he refused to allow the pin. After the 3rd time, the crowd starts to go wild as a white towel is thrown in and Jerry Lawler hits the ring and chase Saito away. Wildfire Rich follows but can’t do much due to the fact that he is on crutches. Rich and Lawler aid Simpson who is finally able to get to his feet. Other wrestlers help guide Simpson to the back as Lawler and Rich go to the interview desk where they basically call Saito everything they can get away with on TV. Rich wants Saito to come back out and guarantees that there is no way that bully Saito would beat him like that and that it didn’t matter if he was on crutches or not. . He says Saito is just a bully and deep down, Saito is nothing but a yellow bellied coward and like most bullies they only pick on the weak. Lawler says that he will get his revenge on the Shogunate at the Memphis Roundhouse Revival and that all the members are like all the other Japanese people he has ever met. COWARDS! Lawler continues on talking about sneak attacks and Pearl Harbor and then turns his attention to tonight’s World Title Match against Idol. He keeps saying how wonderful it would be to be both the World Champion and The World Tag Team Champion at the same time. Rich, also smiling, says he will be right there by his partner’s side when from out of nowhere, Saito, Killer Khan and Tojo Yamamoto attack from behind. The 3 on 2 advantage, along with Rich on one leg and the attack from behind, gives them control of this chaotic situation. Wrestlers rush from the back to break up the mayhem but not before Tojo uses Rich’s crutch as a weapon and nails both Wildfire and Lawler over the head and back. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS ___________________________________________________________________________________ Before the next match, Solie and Russell announce the fact that both Lawler and Rich are receiving medical attention in the back and that tonight’s main event between Lawler and Idol for the World Title is in jeopardy. Match: Hacksaw Reed vs Baron Von Raschke In another good match, Reed finally gains control of the match after a huge body slam and has Baron up for a Gorilla Press Slam when Ernie Ladd walks out to the ring. Reed just drops Von Raschke and starts to have words with Ladd. Thunderbolt Patterson joins Ladd at ringside and now the two start to creep up towards the apron as the Baron regains his feet. Baron begins to walk towards Reed and lifts his right hand in the air to signify the Iron Claw. As Reed turns around, Baron moves in for his finisher but Reed sees it at the last minute and grabs the hand of Baron. Reed than kicks him in the mid-section. He quickly lifts Von Raschke up into another Gorilla Press Slam but this time walks towards the ropes with him and tosses him over the ropes right onto Ladd and Patterson. Ref Paul Morton proceeds to make the 10 count and Reed wins by count-out. Tony Atlas rushes to the ring to make sure nobody attacks Reed. There is a bit of a standoff but cooler heads prevail. Gordon Solie tells the fans how lucky Reed was to escape tonight uninjured. Russell agrees and wonders if Lawler is going to be able to wrestle in the main event which is up next. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Match: USWA WORLD TITLE MATCH: AUSTIN IDOL with Rock Riddle VS JERRY LAWLER Idol and Riddle come to the ring first and are both even more smug than normally as neither of them thinks Lawler will even make it to the ring. All of a sudden, the crowd goes wild as Lawler appears. Their enthusiasm quickly turns to concern as they see Lawler has a bandage around his head and is limping badly. They fear he will get injured even more if he gets in the ring. Rich also bandaged, heads to the interview desk where he continues to show his anger at the Shogunate. As for the match, it is one of the more lopsided Lawler/Idol matches of all time. Lawler just doesn’t have anything going but his actions are commendable. Idol hits him with everything he has but Lawler refuses to get pinned or to submit. Idol’s frustration grows and grows till he finally can’t take it anymore. Riddle picks up a chair and throws it to Idol. Wildfire Rich starts yelling to his partner to watch out but he doesn’t head to the ring to aid him. His injuries the last two weeks have him to hurt to be able to help his Lawler. WHAM! Idol nails Lawler with the chair over and over again. Ref Jerry Calhoun calls for the bell as Gordon Solie announces that “We are out of time. So long from Memphis. As the screen fades to black, the national audience is left watching Lawler face down on the mat not moving.
  5. It has finally happened! After a few months of searching for a promotion to join USWA and striking out all over the country, Ted Turner and Jerry Jarrett have just struck gold. While it is not an existing NWA or AWA territory that has decided to jump ship and join the USWA, it is one of the biggest names in the industry. Fritz Von Erich is coming aboard. He has had a tough couple of months. First, his WCCW lost its television contract and then his sons, to better their careers, moved on to Championship Wrestling from Florida only to have David lose his life. Fritz decied it was time to get back in the wrestling game and decided to begin a brand new promotion which he was going to call TNT WRESTLING as it was to be centered in Texas N Tennessee. TNT wrestling will host a weekly show in the Dallas, Texas at the Sportatorium. Who is to announce the TV show is yet to be determined as is most of the roster for TNT. Jerry Jarrett got wind of this are went to Fritz to see if he would be willing to partner with USWA. Fritz was very hesitant at first but Jarrett and his partner, Ted Turner, basically gave him everything he could every ask for. a 1 hour national TV show on WTBS that will begin airing late Tuesday nights so not to interfere with the Braves games and maybe move to the Sunday night show that airs from 6:05-7:05. This will be determined by the ratings that TNT is getting. This show will begin almost right away with hopes to have a show by the first week of April. Fritz will be able to control his own champions which will include the TNT Heavyweight Champion and the TNT Tag Team Champions. The USWA will also use these champions in their major events to give TNT more exposure. As compensation for recognizing the USWA World Champions as the true "World" Champions, Fritz will get the use of those champions on 2 TV shows a month plus use of them at any major show he runs. Fritz will be responsible for his own roster and needs to find his own talent with the following exceptions: Jarrett has given Fritz the use of some of his lesser talent who will be on active in both promotions. Fritz is still negotiating with other companies for talent and he is also in the process of buying a few of the contracts from Jarrett of wrestlers Jarrett does not deem necessary for the continued success of his side of USWA.
  6. USWA would like to add Abdullah and Mil on 3,10,17,24 and 31 along with the women and Brody and Hansen on the 31st.
  7. Will there be a draft for the +1 on April first or will it be first come first serve
  8. I am fine with that
  9. I am sorry. When we did the 1984 Fresh Face Draft, Sherri Martel was listed as a manager so I thought she could be used as one.
  10. Since USWA traded away JR Foley, I need to add a manager so we welcome Sensational Sherri Martel to the organization. USWA is also moving Chris Markov into a regular spot and moving Brett Wayne Sawyer into spot 35 which will now become a jobber spot. To complete this jobber pack, USWA will add Rick McGraw and Steve Travis.
  11. USWA sends Shane Douglas and JR Foley to Stampede for Ox Baker and a wrestler to be named later.
  12. I am ok with giving Dex or Florida Timbs or my partial use of Bill Dundee
  13. I would take Ken Timbs and use him as a mid-carder if nobody else wants him. I find Adrian Street interesting but too much work to do him justice so I would not be interested in him.
  14. If we wanted to avoid a draft, I would be fine with Baby Doll. He would not be my first pick. The Heavenly Bodies, Buddy Landell and the RnR Express would be my first three picks but others are interested in them and to avoid problems, I would be ok with Baby Doll.
  15. I approve. Let him start right away.

  17. USWA is trying anything to raise money. Glad you liked it. We got a lot of bills to pay!
  18. When I look back to the 1980's, I found a few wrestlers were so captivating that they could carry an organization on their back. It seems to me that you have many at the same time and that makes for a great time in Mid Atlantic. From Flair to Steamboat to Savage to JYD to the Freebirds and of course Akbar! They could feud with anyone and it instantly becomes Pro Wrestling illustrated worthy. This organizations roster is #1 in my eyes and something I enjoy reading each week.
  19. Wow, the Cow Palace was treated to 5 Championship matches plus Gagne vs DiBiase and other great matches. That is a great show. Agree with the others in that I love seeing OMG put it to Hogan! This is going to be a huge angle going forward. The unstoppable Gang vs the never lose Hogan. I am very interested in seeing what gives here.
  20. -Jerry Jarrett and Ted Turner had a meeting this week and decided to increase the number of House Shows. The USWA will be running a show everyday in April except April 22 which is Easter Sunday. In April alone, USWA Wrestling will be in Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky and Maryland. They hope this exposure along with the two weekly TV shows will be able to cover expenses. So far, USWA has been operating in the red. This is not because of attendance or TV ratings which have both been very good. It is just that the USWA may have to many high priced wrestlers on its roster. To help with cost, the USWA Board of Directors has decided to sell quarterly highlight reels of its best matches on VHS. The USWA is still looking for a partner and is somewhat surprised that they have not found one yet. They have offered such things as control of the World Title and segments on a national TV Show. Jarrett is now traveling to Puerto Rico and Canada still hoping to find a taker. His other thought is to expand the travel loop to include both the Northeast and the West which are wrestling starved at this point. He figures the more people who can see the show life, the higher the TV ratings and thus the profits. Jerry Lawler and some of the other wrestlers have expressed concerns about the current amount of travel but that was expected. The King has always been down on travel and this might be one reason the AWA and NWA never looked at him as an option to be World Champion. To appease Lawler, the USWA has agreed that its next major show, Roundhouse Revival on April 23rd will be in the Mid-South Coliseum. Memphis fans are upset that Plowboy Frazier has been forced out but Ted Turner said that he didn't think that Hillbilly angle would play with a national audience. He believes that Russians would outdraw Rednecks any day of the week. Only time will tell especially since his Russian group is the bottom of the barrel.

The fans at the First Battle of Atlanta were stunned when he turned on his relatives to help Sir Oliver Humperdink’s men win the loser leave town match. Tonight, he tries to protect Humperdink’s money and win in less than 5 minutes or else Cooley gets $5000.00. As for this match it is a total squash match with Bubba throwing Cooley all over the ring and using his 375+ pound frame as a weapon in some major collisions. The end came with a huge running splash at just 2:12 into the match. Sir Oliver Humperdink and Cousin Bubba head to the interview desk where Russell asks Bubba how could he turn on his family? Humperdink interrupts and starts to yell at “Pencil Nose” Russell saying that the men next to him will no longer be known as Cousin Bubba and going forward this monster of a man will be called Crusher Ottman! Humperdink goes on to say that if Russell or Solie have any questions for this new member of his stable that they should address Humperdink. He says he is now paying Crusher Ottman a lot of money to hurt people and not to speak to these low life fans. The studio audience really let’s Humperdink have it now. Gordon Solie turns the interview in another direction when he asks Humperdink about his future plans. Humperdink says that within 6 months his stable will control both the USWA World Championship and the USWA World Tag Team Championships but that his immediate goal is to rid the wrestling world of that commie scum, Korstia Korchenko. This time the fans start to cheer. Humperdink does not seem to care as he says “look at these clueless rednecks here tonight. They are so uneducated that they do not even know if they like me or not. Humperdink and Crusher Ottman begin to walk off when all of a sudden Korchenko and two other “Russian looking” men attack Ottman. Ottman gives it his best go but it is 3 on 1. Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez Hernandez hit the scene and Korchenko and his friends run off. As we go to break, Solie is heard saying, “Uhhh, what was that all about? __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: The Fabulous Ones vs Bam Bam Bigelow & Shane Douglas In a pretty good tag match that had a few momentum turns, both teams gave the fans just what they wanted. It is rare to see two teams of fan favorites going at it but this match remained civil from start to finish. The Fabulous Ones were able to overcome the rookies’ power advantage with some really good double team moves. Their experience was the key to the match and Stan Lane gained the pin on Douglas after a Russian Leg sweep. Both teams shook hands after the match and it is becoming more obvious that Bigelow and Douglas have a great future in this sport. The Fabulous Ones went to the interview desk where Russell and Solie asked about their feelings about The First Battle of Atlanta where they lost the semi-final match for the USWA World Tag Titles to the Sheepherders. Lane and Keirn both said they lost fair and square and that they were not making any excuses but they feel that they can still beat the Sheepherders and that they would love a shot at the Sheepherders USWA National Tag belts. The crowd begins to boo as JR Foley leads the Sheepherders out to the interview desk. Foley begins to pretend to cry and says that the Fabulous Ones sound like a bunch of 3 year olds who lost their favorite blanket. He tells them to face it and they lost and there is no way the Sheepherders are going to give the Fabulous Ones a title shot! Lane and Keirn answer back saying the Sheepherders are just afraid of a rematch. The two teams begin to get closer together as the situation heats up. Lance Russell asks that both teams keep their cool. Jerry Jarrett walks out and tells both teams to cool it. He takes the microphone and says that it is not up to the Sheepherders who they face in their title defenses and that they will wrestle whoever the USWA Board of Directors deems to be the number 1 contender. The Fabulous Ones begin to smile at this announcement. Jarrett tells them not to get to excited because they are not yet the #1 contenders. Stan Lane asks what is meant by yet. Jarrett announces that tomorrow night on WTBS, there will be a tag team match between the Fabulous Ones and Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez. The winner will face the Sheepherders for the USWA National Tag Titles at Memphis Roundhouse Revival on April 23rd. The Sheepherders don’t seem to like either of these options but the Fabulous Ones seems satisfied at the news. Jarrett asks that both team leave the interview area and he calls out The Perfect Stable of Rock Riddle, The Kansas Jayhawks and the USWA World Heavyweight Champion, Austin Idol. Jarrett begins to announce who the #1 Contender is for Austin Idol’s belt but Rock Riddle interrupts. He is furious that Dutch Mantell and Bobby Jaggers were not included in that tag match to determine who faces the Sheepherders. Riddle continues by saying that he understands why and that it must be because his perfect team must be wrestling for the World Titles vs Rich and Lawler and not the National titles. Jarrett says that the #1 Contenders for the World Tag Titles has yet to be decided but for Riddle not to interrupt again. Jarrett continues on to announce that Austin Idol will be wrestling the Boogie Woogie Man, Jimmy Valiant for the World Title on April 23rd. The Perfect Stable goes nuts saying that Valiant is so unpredictable and that it is unfair to make Idol wrestle him. They are screaming how nuts Valiant is when the music starts to blare from the speakers. Jimmy Valiant struts out as only he could and begins jiving and talking and bobbing and weaving. He is so energized by the news and seems ready for Idol now. The Perfect Stable realize they have a numbers advantage and start to creep in towards Valiant. Jerry Jarrett sees this and says one more thing. If any member of the Perfect Stable lays a hand a Valiant before April 23rd , Idol will be stripped of his title. The Stable starts to yell and scream while Valiant is now really up in their faces. Gordon Solie, smiling, announces “we will be right back after these messages. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Piper’s Pit with Special Guest Roddy Piper Roddy Piper makes his way out to the set and sits in one of the two chairs that are there. The Sheepherders follow Piper out and stand behind him with their arms folded. Piper calls out none other than himself and in the strangest Piper’s Pit to date, he basically stands up to ask himself questions and then sits down to answer them. He basically spends the next 5 minutes berating himself for losing his match at the First Battle of Atlanta to Tony Atlas and being stripped of his USWA Southern Championship. By the end, he is so worked up that he begins to beat himself with his own microphone. The fans are scarred as they have never seen anyone so angry and crazed. He begins to say he is sorry to himself and he will get revenge on Tony Atlas for the loss. As the interview ends, he is basically foaming at the mouth and it looks like it would not matter if Tony Atlas was Superman and that the next time Atlas and Piper meet, Atlas could be in serious trouble __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Interview with Ernie Ladd Ladd comes out and Solie and Russell ask him about his match with Hacksaw Reed at the Omni from The First Battle of Atlanta. Ladd goes on to discuss how USWA might not be big enough for Reed and himself to co-exist. He talks about how evident the hatred is between both men and that the match could not even get started. He also discuss how Reed has fallen into the dark side of right and wrong and has become nothing but a Big Uncle Tom. He than walks off set. MATCH: Thunderbolt Patterson vs Brett Wayne Gordon Solie begins by saying what a treat the fans are going to be in as he has been calling Thunderbolt Patterson’s matches for quite some time in Georgia and that he is really some kind of special wrestler. As the match begins, Patterson, a large black man, uses some pretty big body slams to gain the advantage. In a rare show of frustration, Brett Wayne tried to turn the tide with some dirty tactics but Patterson seemed to relish in this form of a match and started throwing huge right hands. Gordon Solie is heard saying, “Now Waitaminute. What is Ernie Ladd doing at ringside?” Patterson seems to proceed in the match with a lot more caution now that Ladd is at ringside. A few times Ladd appeared to be getting ready to get in the ring and interfere in the match. The end came after a huge headbutt was followed up by a thunderous bodyslam. After ref Jerry Calhoun counted out Brett Wayne, Ladd jumped up on the apron and moved towards Patterson. Patterson began to inch towards Ladd and it looks like the two were about to brawl. All of a sudden, Lance Russell is heard saying, “What in the Sam Hill?” as Ladd and Patterson break into a huge smile and hug each other. The fans are shocked as they thought Patterson was on their side. Gordon Solie is all so in shock and wonders if Patterson is the re-enforcements to Ladd’s Army that the Big Cat has been talking about for the last few weeks. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Match: Private Kernodle vs The Spoiler In a great back and forth match, the end came when the Spoiler had an armbar on Kernodle as he walked across the top rope. He leaped off the rope and, as he released the armbar, caught Kernodle with an elbow to the neck. This knocked Kernodle to the canvass and the Spoiler took this opportunity to put on the Brain Claw. After a minute or two of struggling, Kernodle was forced to submit. Kernodle continue to writhe in pain as the Spoiler refused to break the hold. All of a sudden, blood started to trickle down the face of Kernodle. The Spoiler’s Claw is so strong that he may cause internal damage. The bleeding becomes heavier as Solie announces that Pvt. Kernodle is wearing a crimson mask. The Spoiler still refuses to release the hold and the TV screen becomes censored due to the amount of blood. From the back, rushes in Cpl. Kirchner. The Spoiler high tails it to the locker room just before Kirchner hits the ring. The place a towel over Kernodle’s head and Kirchner escorts his Ft. Bragg Brother back to the locker room. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ Match: Tommy Rich & Jerry Lawler vs The Nightmares In a nice treat for the fans, the newly crowned champs defend their belts on National TV. This match will be a time remaining match as the show is running out of time. As for the match, the Champs control the momentum. It appeared the champs would gain the victory by pin as Wildfire caught Nightmare #1 with a flying cross body block but as he went for the pin, The Shogunate hit the ring. Mr. Saito, Killer Khan and Tojo Yamamoto took advantage of the numbers and really laid it on the champs. As Gordon Solie announced “so long from Memphis,” the Champs laid flat on their backs, faces covered in green Asian Mist from Khan and both being Suplexed by Saito. The foreign invaders smiled for the cameras and seemed really pleased with their work. The screen fades to black. USWA WRESTLING: 3/25/1984: WTBS SHOW AIRED NATIONALLY 5:05-6:05 TAPED IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE “Yello again everybody. Welcome to USWA Wrestling here on WTBS. I am Lance Russell along with Gordon Solie. We have a jam packed show tonight so let’s ring in our first guest.” Korstia Korchenko and the two goons who attacked Crusher Ottman and Sir Oliver Humperdink walk out to the interview desk. Lance Russell begins by asking who the two men with Korstia are. Korchenko replies that they are Alexis Smirnoff and Chris Markov and together they make up the IRON CURTAIN. Gordon Solie asks why these men have joined Korchenko here in the USWA. All three take turns answering in broken English but all three have the same message. They are sick and tired of the American bureaucracy and that the American people are so misguided that when even low-life’s like Sir Oliver Humperdink do wrong to Russian people that Americans are happy. They vow revenge on Humperdink and his entire stable. They warn the American people to watch the next match to see what is going to happen to any American wrestlers who get in their way. Match: The Iron Curtain vs Sweet Brown Sugar, Brett Wayne and Steve Simpson. The three Russians head to the ring in their Soviet gear and are waving the flag of the Soviet Union. The fans are really angry at this display of patriotism for our arch-enemy. As for the match, it is one of total destruction. The Iron Curtain just refuses to listen to the ref and took a lot of liberties with the rules. The end came after Steve Simpson was whipped into the ropes and Alexis Smirnoff followed it up with a Heart Punch. The punch was so violent that the medics came to the ring after the match and this is when TV went to break. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: Mr. Saito vs Wendell Cooley As expected, Mr. Saito gets a rude welcome from the fans in studio but he doesn’t seem to care. Saito is all business in this match and beats the rookie in under 4 minutes when he connected with a Saito Suplex for the pin. Mr. Saito and the rest of the Shogunate, Tojo Yamamoto and Killer Khan head to the interview desk where Solie and Russell question them on why they attacked Tommy Rich and Jerry Lawler last night on TV. Tojo takes control of the interview and begins by asking Mistah Russell if he remember 1975? Russell says he does but has no idea what Tojo is talking about. Yamamoto continues on. “1975, I took Tommy Rich under my control. I showed him the ropes of this sport. I was his tag team partner many, many times. I taught him how to win and that the fans don’t matter. I should him everything that has made him a success. He comes to the USWA and has turned his back on me. He acts like I did not make him what he is today. He cares about what the fans think. He cares about Jerry Lawler thinks. He has lost his focus. He has lost his way and we, the Shogunate, are going to take the World Tag Title from him. The crowd erupts as Tommy Rich comes to the interview desk and goes right at Yamamoto. Rich says all Tojo taught him how to do is cheat. To take shortcuts. To break the rules and try to injure others. That is not how his mother raised him and in 1975, he was just young and dumb and was wrong to follow Tojo. He lets Tojo know that Lawler and he are ready for a fight anytime. Yamamoto and his goons feel that this is as good a time as any and attack Rich. The 3-1 is too much for him to take and Rich is beaten down. The attack only lasts about a minute as Lawler, Reed and Atlas rush to his aid and chase the Shogunate away. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ MATCH: Tony Atlas and Butch Reed vs The Nightmares Atlas and Reed are just too strong for the Nightmares who really give a valiant effort. The end came in about 5 minutes when Reed lifted up Nightmare #1 in a Gorilla Press Slam and smashed him into the canvass. The winners go to the interview desk where Atlas says he is ready to take on that nut job Piper anytime the USWA Board of Directors wants. Reed starts to call out Ernie Ladd and when Solie asks if he is concerned with the newest member of Ladd’s Army. Reed asks if he means OLD MAN PATTERSON and Solie warns Reed not to take him lightly. Reed and Atlas laugh and ask if this is professional wrestling or an old age home. __________________________________________________________________________ COMMERCIAL BREAK WITH PROMO FOR UPCOMING SHOWS __________________________________________________________________________ #1 Contenders Match for the USWA National Tag Titles held by the Sheepherders The Fabulous Ones vs Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez The fans are on the edge of their seats for this one. Sir Oliver Humperdink leads Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez to the ring. Humperdink has Buzz Sawyer on a dog leash while Hernandez has a huge chain around his neck which makes him look even stronger than he is. The House of Humperdink seems ready for this one. The Fab Ones come out to “Sharp Dressed Man” and the young ladies in studio are going wild. The match is wild with many different momentum changes. The House of Humperdink came close to a victory when Sawyer nailed a top rope frog splash on Lane but Keirn made the save. Later, Keirn had Hernandez in an inverted Boston Crab by Hercules was able to reach the ropes forcing the break. The end came when Sawyer tossed Lane into ref Paul Morton knocking him to the ground. Humperdink saw this as his chance and tossed a chair into Sawyer but Lane intercepted it. Lane was about to clobber Sawyer when he saw Paul Morton stirring and beginning to get to his feet. Lane SLAMMED the chair in to the mat which made a loud crash sound. Lane then tossed the chair to Sawyer just as Morton was beginning to turn back to the action. Lane feel backwards as if his was hit with the chair and laid flat on the mat. Ref Paul Morton saw Lane and saw the chair in Sawyer’s hand. He immediately called for the bell and disqualified the House of Humperdink. Gordon Solie is laughing and announces “What is good for the goose is good for the gander. Humperdink has one so many times by deceit he has finally gotten what he deserves. With TV time winding down, The Iron Curtain rush to the ring and attack Sawyer and Humperdink while the Sheepherders hit the ring and go right for the Fabulous Ones. Just as the show was ending, Lance Russell was heard saying, “You cannot believe the mayhem. Four of the best tag teams in the world are brawling it out all over the studio.” Gordon Solie ends the show with “So long from Memphis.” The Credits roll while the chaos continues. The screen fades to black.
