Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #19: May 20, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for tuning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling, a symbol of wrestling excellence where you are guaranteed to see the very best there is in professional wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We’ve got a great show for you today. Vader will be in action today against Caleb Johnson. It will be very interesting to see Vader after he was attacked by Lex Luger as he is apparently out of Woman’s stable. While Snowman has not yet been in action, his presence has had a huge impact on the Mid-South title over the past two months. Well today, we will get our first in-ring look at Snowman and see what Hacksaw Butch Reed has to deal with at our next Lakefront Arena card coming up on June 3rd. Speaking of Lakefront Arena, Mid-South President Ernie Ladd will be here with an update on that great event. Also in action today, we will see Hollywood John Tatum & Jack Victory back in action as they take on Sweet Brown Sugar and Norman Smiley. We will here from “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase as he is very frustrated on how last week’s show ended. “Dr. Death” will be taking on Alofa and in our main event, it will be Stan “The Man” Hansen against Nord “The Barbarian” with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie. That and much more. Let’s get to the ring for our first match. MATCH #1: Vader with Manny Fernandez absolutely destroys Caleb Johnson who barely has time to breath before being squashed with the powerbomb. Vader and Manny head to the podium. Gordon Solie: I must say Manny, I’m surprised to see you with Vader. Manny Fernandez: Gordon, I was angry when I came here to Mid-South Wrestling. I was trying to move up the ranks quickly. I thought I deserved that respect because of who I am… the Ragging Bull Manny Fernandez. I called out Vader …. Said he was wrong for using the name Baby Bull as I am the only Bull in wrestling. Well after our match, I can tell you there are two bulls around here. I watched him give 100% and then his own manager, Woman, hit him with a chair on purpose…. I bet that was because her other chump wreslter Lex Luger was jealous. So, I came out here today to make sure there was no funny business. We all saw how Luger attacked Vader from behind last week. Well, no more. I got this bull’s back and he’s got mine. Vader: Woman… You’ve been playing games with me for over a year now. First, when Dick Murdoch was made at you, you told me to put a stop to it. Then when Dr. Death was coming after Lex Luger, you told me to get in his way. It seems whenever Luger can’t solve his own problems, you had me to it… but who got all the credit… you and your pride and joy…. Lex Luger. Well, those days are done. Now, I’m not running interference for you anymore. In fact, the only thing I’m doing is charging right for you Lex Luger…. Right for your Mid-South Title… charging like a Bull! COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR CAJUNDOME IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA Before our next match, “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase and Sheik Adnan Al Kassie are at the podium. Ted Dibiase- Dr. Death Steve Williams… last week you said all I do is buy protection. You said the only reason that I am successful as a professional wrestler is because of my money. Let’s go back in time Dr. Death. It seems that you have taken too many shots to the head and your short term memory is very bad. About a year ago, this man with me right now, Sheik Adnan Al Kassie was looking for someone to lead his already great stable. He wanted a man who could win him championships. He could have hired any wrestler in the world. He could have hired you Dr. Death. You were my tag team partner at the time. Sheik saw us both on many occasions… Did he choose you? NO…. He gave me the $1,000,000. He wanted me… NOT YOU. Now, yes, his generosity has helped me become the man I am today, but I’m still the man he wanted over you… I am the better wrestler. Last week, you showed exactly the coward you are. You rushed the ring and attacked me, knowing full well that you had many of your friends there to watch your back… and watched it they did. I was jumped like I was in a gang fight. Gordon Solie: Well isn’t that calling the kettle black? Ted Dibiase: No… not at all Gordon. Dr. Death, you are nothing more than a street thug. You say you want a match with me? Better be careful what you ask for. MATCH #2 Snowman defeats The Patriot with a Double Ax Handle Smash to the heart. Snowman then really gets the fans going as he stomps on the flag the Patriot carried to the ring. Post-match interview with Snowman Gordon Solie: I must say Snowman, I found that totally uncalled for and absolutely disrespectful. Snowman: And why Mr. Solie would I care what someone like you thinks. All I care about is making sure Uncle Tom Reed gets what he deserves at Lakefront Arena come June 3rd. He’s nothing more than a puppet for the suits who make the decisions around here. Suddenly, the crowd gets real loud and a camera catches Hacksaw Butch Reed climbing into the ring. Hacksaw Butch Reed (No mic, but clearly loud enough) Snowman… you want a match… let’s not wait until June 3rd. Snowman: Exactly as I would expect … Hacksaw Butch Reed was in the back the whole time. Did he come out and challenge me before my match? No… I guarantee you, him and Uncle Tom Ladd were having a family reunion with the rest of the suits in power around here watching my match from the back. Then after I went through the entire battle with the Patriot the suits tell Reed to come and quiet me down. Come and challenge me …. Have Reed show me what he can do and all these stupid fans would think Snowman can’t wrestler. He can’t fight. Reed just proved to everyone that you are nothing more than a puppet doing the work for your Master. Don’t you worry Reed… you and me will meet real soon but it will be when I’m ready… not when the Suits tell you that I am ready. Snowman walks away as Reed stands in the ring with a quizzical look on his face. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR CAJUNDOME IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Woman and the Mid-South Heavyweight Champion are at the podium. Gordan Solie: Well I’m sure you two heard the words of Vader a little earlier. Would you like to comment? Woman: Gordon Baaaabbyyy, why else would I be out here. Vader talks about doing my dirty work. He talks about him wrestling the people Lex doesn’t want to deal with. The problem is Vader… you couldn’t even do that! You failed at every task I had you do. I see Dick Murdoch walking around here just fine. I see Dr. Death challenging for the Louisiana Heavyweight Title. All I ever saw from Vader was losing. He talks about doing the dirty work… he couldn’t do my laundry. Gordon Solie: That’ll be enough of that. Lex Luger: Vader… Did you see how easy it was for me to put you down last week? Now you think you could handle the Total Package in a full match. June 3rd in Lakefront Arena will be the beginning of you in Mid-South Wrestling. Gordon Solie: Fair enough, let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #3 “Hollywood” John Tatum & Jack Victory with Missy Hyatt & Eddie Gilbert defeat Sweet Brown Sugar & Norman Smiley after Hyatt disrupted the ref and Eddie Gilbert grabbed the leg of Smiley setting up the Superkick from Tatum on Smiley. After the match, Hot Stuff Inc. heads over to the podium. Gordon Solie: It seems to me Mr. Gilbert that you have both Rick and Scott Steiner wanting a piece of you. Missy Hyatt: I would like to commend Scott Steiner. Sometimes it is hard to admit that people are related to you; especially when they are as messed up as Rick. The problem for you Scott is that you are now in our way and the best way to deal with this situation is to take you both down. Eddie Gilbert: Steiner brothers… I can tell you that I want to two out of Mid-South Wrestling. I want you out just like I wanted the Freebirds out. I want you out like I wanted Dr. Tom Prichard out of Mid-South… Hey Missy… You see the pattern…. What we want seems to happen. Steiners start looking for future employment. Your time here is coming to an end real soon. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR CAJUNDOME IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Dr. Death is at the podium. Gordon Solie: Dr. Death, Ted Dibiase made some rather harsh comments directed your way earlier tonight. How would you like to respond. Dr. Death: Gordon, I’ve been in this business long enough to know the difference when a man is speaking the truth and when a man is speaking in order to convince himself of something. Dibiase is right… Sheik did offer him the money and not me. That’s because Sheik is smart enough to know that I would have kicked his you know what all across the state of Louisiana if he offered me a contract. He knew that only a low-life like Dibiase would accept that. Now, Dibiase, you’re trying to convince yourself that you can defeat me. Well you better talk a whole lot louder to get it through your thick skull because your yellow-chicken-like skin knows that you are just a coward. Now I gladly accept your match for Lakefront Arena on June 3rd. It’s time I took that title off your hands. Gordon Solie: Well Dr. Death, I think it’s time for your match. Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #4 “Dr. Death” Steve Williams defeats Alofa with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie with an amazing feat of strength as he nailed the 400-pound Alofa with the Oklahoma Stampede. Interesting thing here was that Dibiase could be seen peeking out from the curtain but never came to the ring. After the match, Ernie Ladd is at the podium. Ernie Ladd: Gordon, there are a lot of challenges being thrown out tonight. This guy wants to wrestle this guy and then this team wants to face this team. The good thing is that all problems here in Mid-South Wrestling are settled in the ring. With that being said, the card for June 3rd is shaping up very nicely. As you know, last week we already signed Hacksaw Butch Reed to face the Snowman. Now I now with me being the President and all that I should be impartial, but Snowman… you’re getting on my last nerve. There are no Suits around here making decisions. Hacksaw Butch Reed is his own man and so am I. Now as far as other matches go… I have just signed three more title matches for the big event. The Texas Outlaws will be facing the Barbarians with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie. Dr. Death Steve Williams will challenge “The Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase for the Louisiana Heavyweight Title and Vader will try and take the Mid-South title from Lex Luger. Also, I just finished talking with the Steiner brothers and told them they would face the newest members of Hot Stuff Inc, Jack Victory and Hollywood John Tatum. Both Rick and Scott were upset as they wanted a chance to get their hands on Eddie Gilbert. I felt the only way to do this was in a Handicap Match and added Eddie to the team ofTatum and Victory. The Steiners quickly agreed. Fans in New Orleans, get your tickets to Lakefront Arena. It is sure to be one heck of a show. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR CAJUNDOME IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA Main Event Match Stan “The Man” Hansen with Dick Murdoch defeats Nord “The Barbarian” with Sheik Adnan and Konga with the Lariat in a rather long and violent TV match that saw both Hansen and Nord have a lot of time to wrestle from the top. Murdoch was at ringside and made sure there was no funny business from the Million Dollar Corportatin. Surprisingly, there was no wild brawl at the end of the show. If you asked Ladd why, he might just tell you that if he uses something too much, it becomes almost second nature and the fans lose some interest. Gordon Solie: Fans, we are just two weeks away from the big event at Lakefront Arena. So many issues yet to be settled. Until next time, so long from the Pelican State. Dark Matches included: JYD defeats Larry Cheatum with the Thump The Grappler defeats Trent Night with the Sleeper The Mighty Goliath squashes Big Cajun Troy Landry

If you can find evidence of their matches in L.A., I am fine with it. Wrestlingdata and cagematch do not have that. You could also use them as part of your foreign exemptions and use them for 3 months.

Mid-South adds Boris Zhukov, Soldat Ustinov, Fred Ottman, and Jeff Gaylord to the trade block.

WCW is really turning into a world promotion. I admit that I know nothing of wrestling in Japan or Mexico but you certainly have something for everyone. No matter who he manages, I love Gary Hart. I thought he gave the best promos. Looking forward to hearing from the master. Steamboat/Savage and Rhodes and Race have my full attention. I guess I am giving away my age there.
-
I really like how Rin Garvin is at the top of his game and challenging for the title against Tully just to have the angle with Jimmy keeping him down. Kamala fits in here nicely and good be a good challenger for Brody. I think that would sell some tickets. Such a stacked roster but you always find something for everyone. Nice booking.

The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord, Dutch Mantell’s bodyguard. Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Lance Rusell alongside Dirty Dutch Mantell. Fans, welcome to another great edition of championship wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. Dutch, why don’t you tell everybody what’s coming up in the next hour. Dutch Mantell: Lance, you never cease to amazing. Here you go again… just skipping over last week like it never happened. I mean we’re partners. Come on amigo… I got your back, you got mine ya know. Lance Russell: Oh, I get it now. You want credit for beating Shane Douglas last week in a tag match. Why don’t you remind everyone exactly how much of that match you participated in. 8 seconds, I think. Dutch: I think that should be a compliment, but it didn’t sound that way. I mean come on Lance. Give me some credit. We all knew that I would beat Psycho Shane but in 8 seconds. I amazed even myself with that one. Lance Russell: Oh brother…. You ran and hid for all but 8 seconds of the match and then pulled a rabbit out of a hat. Since you won’t do it, I’ll tell everyone about today’s show. First, the Fabulous Freebird Terry Gordy will make his debut as he takes on big Moondog Moretti. Rip Rogers with that valet of his, Terry Powers, is in action against Darren Day. The Russians are back in action as Boris Zhukov and Soldat Ustinov take on Shaun Simpson and Jimmy Del Ray. Dick Slater will be here as we wait to see if Tommy “Wildfire” Rich responds to Slater’s ultimatum. The Fab One Steve Keirn and Superstar Bill Dundee will be in tag action against The Watson brothers. We will hear from The Lightening Express as well as Jerry Jarrett on the upcoming Southern Tag Team Title Tournament coming up in the middle of July. And in our main event, it will be the Southern Heavyweight Champion “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel taking on Jeff Jarrett. Dutch: Absurd… I beat Lunatic Shane and Jeff Jarret gets a title match. Lance Russell: Come on Dutch, enough already. Let’s get to the ring. (As the camera turns toward the ring, we can all hear Dutch muttering to himself about the disrespect around this place.) MATCH #1 “Freebird” Terry Gordy defeats Moondog Moretti with a Piledriver. Lance Russell: Welcome to Championship Wrestling Terry. That was a great win you just had. So what brings you to Memphis? Terry Gordy: Lance, I was born and raised right here in Tennessee. Down the road a bit in Chattanooga but this is home to me. I was born and raised on southern ground and I learned early about how to fight for what I believe in and how to party after you win that fight. Lance Rusell: I hear you, Terry. Terry Gordy: Now Lance, there’s another reason I’m here and that’s the Southern Heavyweight Title. There’s a boy running around here calling himself the Nature Boy. Talking about how he just outsmarts others. How he distracts you in the ring and then rakes your eyes out and then beats you down. Sad thing is, Buddy Landel was also born and raised in Tennessee. It seems to ol Bam Bam here that his Mama didn’t teach him how to right from wrong. Buddy Landel… you can trust me on this brother… Terry Gordy can take it as good as he gives it. There aint a man alive who is going to throw me off my game because of words. I’ve been winning fights since I was 5 years old. Kicking butt and taking names is what I’m used to. Except in this case Landell, I going to be kicking butts and taking titles. Lance Russell: There you have it folks. Terry Gordy is here, and Buddy Landell better be ready! Dutch Mantell: Lance… do you really think Buddy Landell looks like the one who wasn’t raised right. Terry Gordy looks like who grew up with the pigs! Lance Russell: Dutch, why did you wait for Terry to leave before giving your opinion. It seems like Shane Douglas isn’t the only one you’re afraid off. Let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville MATCH #2 Rip Rogers with Terry Powers defeats Darren Day with the Ripperplex. Before the match Rip Rogers grabbed the house mic from the ring announcer. Rip Rogers: I know, I know, today is one of the saddest days in Memphis in a long, long time. No longer will I come out here each and every week searching the stands for the needle in a haystack. I won’t be straining my eyes searching for that one woman good enough to come to this ring and get the thrill of their life by helping my take off my vest and show off the most spectacular body known to man. Men, that doesn’t mean the drool running down the ugly faces of your wives isn’t for me. It is! I mean you know it’s not for you …. with those spare tires hanging around your waist and your gigantic neanderthal foreheads. Now I have the perfect woman. The most beautiful women in Memphis. The most fit women in Memphis. The one, the only Terry Powers. Could you help me remove my vest. Terry Power: Hold on Honey. I think it’s my turn. Let me see if there is one man here in Memphis tonight who is man enough to help me with my jacket. Terry scans the crowd and a scour comes to her face. Then she actually holds her nose like something stinks. Terry Power: Rip, you’re right. These people fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. TWICE I TIHNK. There is only one thing for us to do… I help you and you help me. Terry and Rip help each other take off their attire and there is no denying these two are in shape. Terry has many of the many looking closely as they still are not sure they like her muscles or not while the woman are googling Rip. Dutch Mantell: Hey Lance, I haven’t asked you how you’re doing after Terry gave you that close up last week. I bet your wife wasn’t too happy. Lance Russell: Now did you have to go and bring that up again. After the match, something very interesting happened. After Rip got the win, Exotic Adrian Street and Linda sauntered their way to the ring. Many of the fans in championship wrestling remember Street from the last time he was here back in the early and mid 80’s. As Rip and Terry are exiting the ring, Street and Linda walk right past them and look at each other; hold their noses and then turn around and leave. Rip and Terry head right to Lance. Rip Rogers: What in the heck was that. Was that a man or a woman! Lance Russell: That was Exotic Adrian Street. The only question is what did he want with you? Rip Rogers: Street better want nothing from me or he is going to be in a world of trouble. I mean look at him and look at me. He’s not half the man I am. I mean Terry here is more man that he is. Lance Russell: You said it Rip. Not me. Let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Lance Russell: I would like to bring out the President of Championship Wrestling, Jerry Jarrett. Jerry, I know you have some information of the upcoming Southern Tag Team Tournament coming up on July 17th at the Mid-South Coliseum. Jerry Jarrett: I do Lance but first, we have some information on our next Mid-South Coliseum event that will take place on June 19th. We all saw the impact that Tommy Rich had in the finals of the Southern Heavyweight Tournament. As a result of his actions, Dick Slater will be getting a rematch against Buddy Landell for the Southern Heavyweight Title. I promise to have more on that card next week. As far as the Southern Tag Team Tournament on July 15th, we have been flooded with applications from all over the word. We have received applications from Japan, Mexico, Canada and England and the applications keep flooding in. Remember, a team must have a history of wrestling together and please send videos with your application for us to assess the team’s ability. We only want the best of the best. So far, three teams have been accepted. Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner, The Lightening Express are in. So are the Big Russians, Boris Zhukov and Soldat Ustinov. And we’re really excited to have Superstar Bill Dundee and The Fab One, Steve Keirn. Dutch Matell: Whoa, Whoa, hold on just a minute. I know for a fact that I’ve filled out an application for both Jeff and myself. And let’s throw in our big tag team win last week against Dundee and Shane “Psycho” Douglas. So why didn’t I hear my name called ….. and how could Dundee and Keirn be in the tournament. I mean they are not even a team!! Jerry Jarrett: Dutch… yes, last week you did get a nice win but after reviewing the tape, it was obvious that you wanted no part of that match. You even complained then entire tv show last week how we couldn’t make you wrestle! And as far as Dundee and Keirn are concerned, they are two-time former Southern Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. How can you say they are not qualified for this tournament. Dutch Mantell: Ridiculous… the fix is in. Why do I even work here. Lance Russell: I was wondering that myself. Dutch Mantell: Shut up Lance. Who asked you? Jerry Jarrett: I’ll tell you what I ‘ll do. I will set you and Jeff up in a tag team match for June 17th in the Coliseum and if you do well, we will add you and your bodyguard to the tournament. Dutch Mantell: I’ll accept but I am getting sick and tired of playing second fiddle around here. For the singles tournament you set me up there and then didn’t let me in at the last minute. Jerry Jarrett: No set up…. You beat Superstar Bill Dundee and Fan One Steve Keirn and you’re in. The fans go wild…. Dutch Mantell: WHAT…… Jerry Jarrett walks off as Lance wonders how Dutch can keep getting himself into these situations. MATCH #3: Boris Zhukov & Soldat Ustinov defeat Shaun Simpson & Jimmy Del Ray in an exciting match where the fan favorites tried to use their speed to hold off the big Russians but this plan only worked for so long as eventually Jimmy Del Ray was caught with an illegal knee to the back which softened him up for the bearhug by Zhukov. After the match, Boris Zhukov and Soldat Ustinov give a quick post-match interview where they do their best to riley up the fans with their anti-American rhetoric and complain about Jerry Jarrett not making them the #1 seed in the tag team tournament. Lance tries to explain that they have not even received all of the applications yet and Jerry couldn’t name a #1 seed yet. Boris started yelling about American bureaucracy as he and Soldat stormed off. As The Russians leave, Ron Wright comes wheeling in. Ron Wright: I need Jerry Jarrett out here right now. I mean he has crossed a line. Jerry Jarrett comes out and asks Ron what his problem is now. Ron Wright: You know exactly what the problem is. You named the teams in the tag tournament and you didn’t call my team. Jerry Jarrett: And what team is that Ron. Your application had no team name on it. You sent in no video for us to assess. Heck, for all I know, you don’t even have a team. Ron Wright: I told you. I’m not a tellin you the team name. I’m not letting other teams get the scouting down. My team is the best in the tournament and you’re just a gonna have to take my word on that. That should be easy. I mean I am the manager of the Christian Wrestlers Association…. The focus on Christian. Jerry Jarrett: (Smirking at Ron’s words) Sorry Jerry. No team name and no video…. Not in the tournament. Jerry walks away with Ron is hot pursuit with his wheelchair. Dutch Mantell: I think the power has gone to Jarrett’s head. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before our next match, we see Dick Slater in another pre-recorded interview Dick Slater: Tommy Rich… one week has past and we have not seen hid nor hare of you. We have not heard a word from you. It is like you have vanished. Last week, I gave you an ultimatum. Show up here and fight me or I am going to send some very bad men looking for you. Either way, it doesn’t matter to me. Either way, it will be the end of you Tommy Rich. Now it could just be the end of your career of you show up or it could be the end of your life if you don’t. Your choice Rich but you better make it in the next 7 days. Lance Russell: Folks, I don’t know what to say. Dick Slater has gone off the rails if you want my honest opinion. Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #4 Superstar Bill Dundee & Fab One Steve Keirn defeat Drew and Lou Watson as Keirn connected with the Superkick. Interesting thing here was that Dutch and Jeff Gaylord left for the post-match interview where Dundee and Keirn stressed how excited they were to be back together again and that they would really like to win the tournament for the Southern Tag titles. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Another quick interview from the Lightening Express adds even more hype to the tag team tournament. Brad and Tim both expressed interest in being the #1 seed in the tournament. Dutch, who returned from his “bathroom break” laughed at the idea that the Lightening Express could be the #1 seed in any tournament. Horner and Brad both laughed at Dutch and challenged him and Gaylord to a match, but Dutch said that he would have to pass because we were running out of time but if there was time, he would show The Lightening Express what a #1 seed looks like. Lance, just shaking his head, sends us to the ring for our main event. MAIN EVENT MATCH SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH “Nature Boy” Buddy Landell © defeats Jeff Jarrett after Jarrett obviously injured his leg after Landel rammed his knee into the ring post. While Jarrett gave it his all, Landell on two legs had his way with the youngster. Eventually Landell locked in the Figure 4 but no matter how much leverage Landell put on, Jarrett refused to submit. After about 4 straight minutes of the Figure 4 … Lance Russell: Come on Jeff. Submit. You’re going to risk permanent injury. Dutch Mantell: Come one Lance, Jeff is Jarrett. He’s too stupid to submit and he’s got his brain power from his father. Lance Rusell: Come on Dutch. This kids in trouble. Stop joking around. Suddenly, the camera catches a white towel flying into the ring. Lance Russell: Here comes Dick Slater. He’s thrown in the towel and he is going right after the champion. The ref calls for the bell awarding the match to the champ but he must now fend off Slater. Slater only gets a few blows in before Landell escapes with his belt and he high tail’s it back to the locker room. Lance Russell: Fans, lets here it for young Jeff Jarrett. He has some will to win. I hope he’s not too badly hurt. Thank Goodness Dick Slater came to the rescue. That is going to be some title match in the Mid-South Coliseum on June 17th. We are out of time but make sure to join us here next week where the main event will be the Lightening Express facing Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord. Until next time… Bye Bye Everybody.

Sorry Lowblow. It's fixed. You are 5th. I wrote NWA twice for some reason.

With 1989 draft picks being traded, I thought I would get the draft order set. I used a number generator to pick the order. This draft is a snake draft. If anyone new joins between now and the draft, they will be added to the end of round 2. The draft will begin the week of Thanksgiving. The order is: 1. Music City: (Traded to WCW) 2. AWA: (Traded to WWF) (Traded to WCW) 3. WCW: (Traded to IPW) 4. WWF 5. Memphis: (Traded to WCW) 6. Pacific 7. NWA (Traded to WWF) This makes the order in round #2 1. NWA (Traded to WWF) (Traded to PCW) 2. Pacific 3. Memphis: (Traded to WWF) (Traded to WCW) (Traded to PCW) 4. WWF (traded to WCW) 5. WCW 6. AWA 7. Music City ROUND 3 1. Music City 2. AWA: 3. WCW 4. WWF 5. Memphis 6. Pacific 7. NWA ROUND 4 1. NWA 2. Pacific 3. Memphis 4. WWF 5. WCW 6. AWA 7. Music City

First to the Hammond center... I have never seen a Loser Leave Town Match with a mystery partner. Those matches are usually for big blow offs between two stars but it works so well here as Gagne is the real opponent.... Anything to hurt Gagne would be seen as a big deal. Very creative. Tough night for the fan favorites with Atlas over Strong and Dream Machine over Rich. This is a great way to sell tickets in my opinion as we always want to see our favorites overcome the enemies. I think most people always want to see the underdog. Colon vs Buzz Sawyer.... perfectly natural. Thanks for helping out WCCW with Chris Adams and you deserve some extra credit for the quick and painless revamping of some big angles in AWA. Now on to Alaska... Such an awesome venue. Great choice. I got the feeling that this event was used to change up some angles but not to really change the course of the AWA. Very smart considering this was the first time in Alaska and you might want to reward more loyal fans like Minnesota with major changes like a new AWA champ or something. Looking forward to seeing Idol vs Poffo... Old vs New.... Charisma vs Charisma .... Interesting match-up. I am interested to see what is next for Larry Z. I know I have said it before but I hated him in real life but since writing for him and reading your storylines, I can't get enough. Great build up to the Kevin Kelly/DJ split. Another great mid-card feud is born. The Ultimate Warrior Era has begun! Awesome week. I hope Alaska becomes a yearly thing.
-
I thought this show had something for everyone. The traditional, old time fans got a great Dusty promo. The new Mexican invasions is totally different and exciting to see Gary Hart/ Muta is an interesting competition. and then the big ones- Steamboat/Savage and the Rockers/Twin Towers-- Awesome matches. Steamboat and Savage is classic superstar vs superstar. The tag battle is such a contrast in styles that it is very interesting. Looking forward to this huge card.

Very fun half hour. I know I keep saying this but this is exactly how I picture a small promotion in Arkansas. Really, really good. I think with a roster size like you have, going with the Best of 7 is a great idea. It allows you to keep this angle going and people not upset that they are seeing the same match over and over again. Now Brandi Mae seems like the type of girl these fans can relate to!!!! Dark Journey in the stables... nice segment.

CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING ASSOCIATION: EPISODE #9: May 19, 1988 The traditional CWA opening is played with some music being played as we see all the big stars of Memphis past hitting big moves. One exception is there is no Jerry “The King” Lawler in the intro. Next we see a video collage of highlights that saw Tommy “Wildfire” Rich help “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel defeat “The Rebel” Dick Slater to win the Southern Heavyweight Title! (As the show starts, with see Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell and Jeff Gaylord, Dutch Mantell’s bodyguard. Lance Russell: Yeeellow Everybody. Lance Rusell alongside Dirty Dutch Mantell. Oh my gosh, we’re ready to fire off another great week of championship wrestling. This is professional wrestling like it used to be and the way you like it. Dutch, I’ve got to ask you your thoughts on the Southern Heavyweight Title Tournament from last week at the Mid-South Coliseum. I mean you weren’t even in the tournament, but you played a major role in the outcome of not one but two matches! Dutch Mantell: Lance, I think I proved I deserved to be in that tournament. Both Superstar Bill Dumdee and Shane “The Psychotic” got exactly what they deserved. Lance Russell: Come on Dutch. That’s a bunch of sour grapes and you know it. You had your shot at getting into that tournament, but you couldn’t beat Bill Dundee and I heard that Jerry Jarrett isn’t to happy about what went on in the Mid-South Coliseum and he will be here a little later on to discuss it. Dutch: I’m shaking in my boots! Now Jerry Jarrett isn’t happy because me and Tommy Rich knew the fix was in and we were just standing up for what is right. Jerry Jarrett had no right hand picking the next Southern Heavyweight Champion. You talk about wrestling like it used to be. Well Jarrett …. That’s how Tommy and I did it back in the day. Lance Russell: At least you admit you are a cheater… Any who, fans we got a great show instore for you today. First, we have “Hustler” Rip Rogers in action as he takes on newcomer Norman Smiley. Jeff Jarrett is back and he will face The Red Shadow. The Dirty White Boy with Ron Wright faces “White Lightening” Tim Horner. We will here from The Rebel Dick Slater. The Nature Boy Buddy Landel will be here and listen to this main event…. It will be Superstar Bill Dundee and “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs Jeff Gaylord and “Dirty” Dutch Mantell. Dutch: What… no… what! Nobody told me that I’m wrestling tonight. I’m here to do my job trying to carry this show. Somebody made a mistake. I’m not going to do it. I just not going to do it. Lance Russell: Don’t kill the messenger Dutch. I just read the matches off this sheet. Don’t worry. Jerry Jarrett will be here next segment and we’ll get it all figured out. Let’s get to the ring for our first match. (As the camera turns toward the ring, we can all hear Dutch muttering to himself about the disrespect around this place. MATCH #1 Rip Rogers with Terry Power defeats Norman Smiley with the Ripperplex. Lance Russell: Rip, I must ask you… is this ummm, your new manager. Rip Rogers: Lance, this lady here is my new valet, and I will let her explain to you why I chose her services over the thousands and thousands of other women who wanted the job. Terry, wearing a long dark coat steps towards Lance an takes over the interview… Terry Power: (rubbing the hair on Lance’s head) Lance, I never knew just how beautiful you eyes are. God, I didn’t know they made announcers like you. Lance Rusell: Come on… what are you doing? Terry Power: Lance… You are worth waiting for. What are you doing later? Lance Russell: Is this some kind of joke? Terry Power: (Rubbing Lance’s jacket and his chest) Lance, I think you are getting the idea why I am the number one valet in all of wrestling and why Rip jumped at the chance to have my services. Lance is totally blushing now while the camera catches Rip Rogers laughing… Terry Power: Lance, you’re a smart man. You know a lot of things, but I know your mother never ever, ever showed you anything like this. Terry turns her back to the crowd and the TV camera and slowly opens her jacket…. All we see is a bare back. Lance: (stuttering) Oh, oh, uh this is a family show. Come on now. Rip Rogers: And that is why Terry is my valet! Dutch Mantell: I think the cat’s got Lance’s tongue. Let’s go to break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Next to the podium is Jerry Jarrett where he has a huge announcement on the Southern Heavyweight Tournament. Lance Russell: Jerry, I must ask your thoughts on the Southern Heavyweight Tournament and all of the chaos. Dutch Mantell: Sorry, I must interrupt. The chaos you’re talking about was caused by allowing such lunatics as Shane Douglas into the tournament t and now you or some other suit around here comes up with the smart idea to have me and Jeff face Superstar Bill Dumbdee and the Shane “The Crazy.” Jerry Jarrett: Dutch, you are the last person we want to hear from right now. You are lucky you have not been heavily fined and suspended. Dutch Mantell: Suspended… that would be the easy way out instead of facing that escapee from the asylum. Jerry Jarrett: Funny you say that as that is exactly what Shane Douglas said when I told him that you were going to be suspended for what you did at the Mid-South Coliseum. He said he would rather beat you to within an inch of your life than have you suspended. Now as far as what Tommy Rich did at the Mid-South Coliseum… unfortunately that is out of my control. He currently is not a wrestler under contract with Championship Wrestling so I have little recourse as to his actions. I did turn the case over to the authorities where they are deciding exactly what charges to file. I have faith that the law will do its job here. Lance, I would like to now look towards the future and move on from the Southern Heavyweight tournament. We have signed a monthly contract with the Mid-South Coliseum. I will have more on next week, but I will tell you in two months in mid-July, we will crown new Southern tag team champions. In order for a team to be entered in that tournament, they will need to have be currently wrestling someplace in the world as a tag team. We do not just want any two wrestlers to join up for the tournament. Tag teams, please send your application and a video to our offices for us to evaluate. Lance Russell: Thank you Jerry for that. I know all the fans will be looking forward to all the great action back in the Mid-South Coliseum. Dutch Mantell: Oh yea Jerry. Thanks for nothing. Lance Russell: Oh come on now. Jeff Jarrett: What’s ridiculous is that you call yourself a professional wrestler but needed a bodyguard because you were so afraid of Shane Douglas. Lance Russell: Just stop it already Dutch. You never quit. Can we please get to our next match. MATCH #2 Jeff Jarrett defeats The Red Shadow with the Figure Four Leglock Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before our next match, “The Nature Boy” struts out to the podium. Lance Russell: Yes sir folks. I’ve got with me one of those faces that doesn’t really need any introduction, but I will ….the new Southern Heavyweight Champion, “the Nature Boy” Buddy Landel. Now nobody has ever questioned your talent but some are saying your arrogance is going to get in the way of a long title run. Buddy Landell: Well, let me tell you one thing. In this sport of professional wrestling, I’ve only really been to one place and that’s the top of the mountain! Anybody here in Championship Wrestling who wants a shot at this title got a problem … and that problem is ME! Now I’m not saying that I the toughest man in the world. I am not the most muscular wrestler in the business. Heck, I’m not even the greatest in-ring technician. But what I am is one cocky SOB. I tell you why your old lady spent the night with me instead of you. And why you’re thinking about it, I poke your eyes out and blow through you like a windchime. I’ve got this belt and there aint nothing any of you people can do about it. Lance Russell: What about the folks that say without Tommy Rich, you wouldn’t be the Southern Heavyweight Champion. Buddy Landell: And what about the folks that say if Dick Slater wasn’t Dirty Dick Slater, Tommy Rich would still be the AWA World Champion. Dutch Mantell: He got you there Lance. Dick Slater is as dirty as pigpen from Peanuts. Lance Russell: Why is everyone against me tonight. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH #3 “The Dirty White Boy” with Ron Wright defeats “White Lightening” Tim Horner with the Bucksnort Blaster (Powerslam) This happened after a chaotic moment out of the ring floor when Ron Wright seemed to accidently fall out of his wheelchair onto Tim Horner. Horner came up bleeding as Lance Russell and Dutch Mantell argued whether or not Wright used his chisel on Horner. After the pin, Dutch and the Dirty White Boy rushed out to help Wright back into his wheelchair as the duo headed to the podium Lance Russell: Ron, I’ve gotta to ask ya… was that the chisel I saw. Ron Wright: Here we go again. A poor crippled man like myself falls out of his wheelchair and you a go accusing me of cheatin. I’ve said it before. I’m a Christian man. My wrestlers are Christians. We get by on hard work. You don’t go around asking Tim Horner about all the closed fists he throws in a match. You didn’t go asking “Dirty” Dick Slater how he got to the finals of the Southern Heavyweight Tournament. But me… a man who needs a new hip and two new knees is the one you says is cheating. Dutch Mantell: Ron, I don’t know what to say about my partner. He is just so disrespectful. After all you’ve done for this sport. I mean come on Lance. Ron Wright: Thank you for that Dutch and thanks for helping me back in my chair. Now fans, please don’t forget to send in your donations to the Ron Wright fund. As soon as I get out of this chair, I can really help the Christian Wrestler’s Association rise up and get rid of all that is wring here in Championship Wrestling. I also want everyone to know that I have signed a tag team and we are set on winning that tag team tournament. Lance Russell: And who is this team? Ron Wright: There you go again Lance. Wantin me to tell you all about my team before any other team got involved. That a way they can start the scouting process on us but we know nothing about them. I’m a manager Lance. It is my job to help my team not hurt them. I mean come on Lance, be fair. I thought you were a Christian like me but after what I saw before… you oogling at that nice young girl early in the show. I got my doubts. Lance Russell: Oh brother when is this going to end … let’s take a break. Commercials + Promos for upcoming events in Memphis, Evansville, Louisville and Nashville Before we get to our main event match, we have a pre-recorded interview with “The Rebel” Dick Slater Dick Slater: (In a pair of jeans, black shirt and brown leather jacket) Tommy Rich… whereever you are… listen up and I hope you listen well! I am praying that whatever rock you are under right now that you got a tv and you can hear each and every word I have to say. Tommy… you may be able to get me down. You may try to put me out of professional wrestling but ….. (Spit coming from Slater’s mouth) YOU BETER DO A BLANKITY BLANKING JOB OF DOING IT! First of all, I don’t like nobody playing with my income and that is exactly what you did when you robbed me of both the AWA World Title and now the Southern Heavyweight Title. Second of all, I’ve always walked tall. Every time I put on a pair of boots and got in that wrestling ring, it’s always been 100%. I don’t take nothing for granted and I don’t take short cuts…. And by hell or high water, I am going to make you pay. Now I know Jerry Jarrett has said that you are not apart of Championship Wrestling at the moment so he can’t put us in a match, but if you ever have the guts… come and meet me in the parking lot… meet me in the ally or anywhere of your choosing and I will destroy you…. Now, I know that you are going to take some time to think this over and I will give you two weeks… two weeks and if I don’t hear from you, I know a few people who can and will find you. Trust me… these are people you don’t what looking for you. Lance Russell: Now, now Dick. I think your crossing a line here. Dick Slater: Two weeks Tommy Rich…. 2 weeks. You can almost here the fans gasp at the lengths that Slater is willing to go to get even with Tommy Rich. Lance Rusell is shaking his head as we go to the ring for out main event. MAIN EVENT MATCH The Superstar Bill Dundee & “The Franchise” Shane Douglas vs “Dirty” Dutch Mantell & Jeff Gaylord The match starts with Dutch and Gaylord coming to the ring to a chorus of boos. Dutch seems oblivious to it all as he is talking to Jeff. He is trying to convince Gaylord of a plan which his bodyguard doesn’t seem to keen on but eventually gives the approving head nod as he understands that Dutch is the one who pays his bills. Next, from the very first chord of TNT by AC/DC, the fans are up cheering for Douglas and Dundee. Douglas is so fired up that he pays them no mind and rushes his opponents before the match. Dutch jumps out of the ring and demands order from the ref. When we finally do get it, Dutch points to the ring and orders Jeff Gaylord to start the match. The strategy for the heels is clear. Dutch is going to completely stay out of the match no matter what. Douglas and Dundee work over Gaylord but every chance they get, they call for Dutch who never tags in. Even when the fan favorites toss Gaylord into the corner trying to toss him into Dutch, Mantell simply jumps to the arena floor. It is obvious that the 2-1 match has taken its toll on Gaylord but they don’t want the pin. They want Dutch. The Franchise tries one more time but again as Douglas begins to whip Gaylord to the corner, Dutch jumps to the floor. This time Douglas holds on to Gaylord as Dutch turns to the crowd and points to his head like he is just to smart. As he sits down on the ring apron, still facing the crowd, Douglas drags Gaylord over and slams him into Dutch. The ref signals the tag and Dutch is in shock… He refuses to get in and the ref begins to count. As he gets to 7, Dutch decides to enter the ring where he is greeted harshly by Douglas. The problem was that Dutch tags in Gaylord right away! Douglas is fuming but goes right back on the offense. As the attack goes on, Dutch, is seen by the fans to be contemplating something. Without anyone but the ref seeing, Dutch quickly tags himself in and stealthily comes in to the ring. Lance Russell: Watch out Shane! Dirty Dutch has rolled up a surprised Douglas and grabs the tights. 1…2…3! Lance Russell: Oh my. Folks I don’t believe what I just say. My partner, Dirty Dutch… he always has a plan. Make sure to join us next week as we get an update on the Mid-South Tag Team Tournament and maybe, just maybe we will hear from Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. I also heard a big rumor that Championship Wrestling has signed a big-time superstar who will be action next week! Be there if you can. Until next time… Bye Bye Everybody.

Enjoying the build up to Alaska. Can't wait to see which team Baby Doll ends up with. I like how we all quickly rebound from big losses like Chris Adams. I thought your promo with VIn Man was great.... Just introduce Kevin first! Awesome!

Mid-South Wrestling 1988: Episode #18: May 13, 1988 Gordon Solie: Thank you so very, very much indeed for turning into another episode of Mid-South Wrestling. I’m Gordon Solie and it is my pleasure to be coming to you today from the Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. Before we get to tonight’s action, we must first fill you in on some of the major events that happened last Saturday night at the Lakefront Arena. To do that best, let’s bring in the Mid-South President, Ernie Ladd. Ernie Ladd: Thank you Gordon. Last Saturday night was another huge success for Mid-South Wrestling but there are a few things that need to be discussed as we go forward. First, we do have new Mid-South Tag Team Champions. The Barbarians defeated Hercules Hernandez and Scott Steiner in a thrilling match. Gordon Solie: Let me interrupt if I may. This defeat may have had something to do with Scott Steiner being involved in a brawl before the match started as he tried to help his brother Rick who was being attacked by Eddie Gilbert and, as far as I could tell, two new members of Hot Stuff Incorporated. Ernie Ladd: You bring up a good point and I would like to hear from Eddie Gilbert later in the show. As far as Hercules Hernandez is concerned, he understands how important family is for Scott Steiner and he has decided to give Scott some time to deal with this. Hercules thought it would be best for all if he moved on from Mid-South for a while. (a groan from the fans) Gordon Solie: Truly a huge loss for Mid-South. Ernie Ladd: That’s for sure Gordon but that is not the only loss. For those of you at Lakefront Arena, you saw one of the greatest steel cage matches in wrestling history as the Louisiana Heavyweight Champion, Ted Dibiase survived against Jake “The Snake” Roberts. Gordon Solie: Again, it seemed like Dibiase was saved by his bodyguard, Alofa. Ernie Ladd: Another good point and I had a long discussion with both Jake and his manager Paul Ellering about that and, while I felt bad about how the match ended, I did point out to Jake and Paul that this was a no disqualification match and there was nothing I could do about it. (Again the fans express their displeasure) Gordon Solie: I do see that Jake is not on today’s card. Ernie Ladd: Yes, unfortunately, neither Jake nor Paul Ellering have been seen since that night in New Orleans. They did not show up for their matches all week. It seems like Jake and Paul have decided to move on from Mid-South. (The fans are now fuming) Gordon Solie: I must say Mr. Ladd, this has been a tough week for the fans of Mid-South. Suddenly Hacksaw Butch Reed comes out to the podium…(he is able to calm the fans just be his appearance) Gordon Solie: Hacksaw, is there something we can do for you. Hacksaw Butch Reed: Gordon there is nothing you can do for me. Ernie Ladd is the one I need to speak to…. Ernie Ladd, I know you and I have had some real problems in the past but lately we’ve been on the same page…. For the second straight time, Snowman has cost me the Mid-South Title. I want him in the ring…. No, I need him in the ring at the next Lakefront Arena event. He’s been talking for weeks about not only me but you also. Calling us Uncle Tom’s. Interfering in my matches … getting taking out by security. If it’s a match with me that he wants… let’s get it on brother! Ernie Ladd: While I feel that giving Snowman a big match before he has proven himself here in Mid-South is a mistake, I’m going to grant your match. If Snowman wants to be a part of Mid-South, he will meet you in Lakefront Arena on June 3rd. Gordon Solie: Well there you have it folks. Hacksaw Butch Reed vs the Snowman looks like the first big match signed for the return to the Lakefront Arena. As for tonight’s show, we have got a great event in store for you. First up will be newcomers Jack Victory and “Hollywood” John Tatum taking on Cougar Jay and Rocky Duke. Vader will be taking on high-flyer Shaun Simpson. We will hear from the Texas Outlaws, Dick Murdoch and Stan Hansen. Sweet Brown Sugar will bring his high energy to the ring as he faces Larry Cheatum. Scott Steiner will be making his singles debut here tonight as he faces the very tough Grappler and in the main event it will be Rick Steiner putting his TV title on the line against the big 400 pound bodyguard of Ted Dibiase, Alofa. That and much more. It looks like the timekeeper is ready to go. Let’s get to the ring. MATCH #1: John Tatum & Jack Victory with Missy Hyatt defeat Cougar Jay & Rocky Duke as Tatum connected with a Superkick on Jay. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Eddie Gilbert and Missy Hyatt are with Gordon Solie along with Jack Victory and John Tatum. Just like when Rick Steiner was part of Hot Stuff Inc., Jack Victory and John Tatum didn’t really participate in the interview except to say how they were willing to do whatever Missy and Eddie said. Gordon Solie: Eddie, I’ve got to ask… What happened last week at Lakefront Arena between you and Rick Steiner. Eddie Gilbert: What happened Gordon? I’ll tell you what happened. That ingrate, Rick Steiner, got the beating of his life. Missy and I tutored him. We trained him. We made him what he is today and what did he do… he stabbed us in the back. Missy Hyatt: That’s right Eddie. He used us and now it is our turn to get even. People are lining up in this business to get our help. Everyone wants to be a part of Hot Stuff Incorporated and Jack Victory and Hollywood John Tatum… you two are the winners. You two are the men we’ve chosen to help us rid Mid-South Wrestling of Rick Steiner and if his obnoxious brother Scott wants to get involved, we got no problem dealing with him also. Gordon Solie: Fair enough. Let’s get back to the action. MATCH #2 Vader with Woman defeats Shaun Simpson as he caught Simpson coming off the top rope and Vader turned it into a powerslam. Post-match interview with Vader and Woman along with the Mid-South Champion, Lex Luger Gordon Solie: I must say Vader, things didn’t end so well for you in your match against Manny Fernandez. Woman, it seems like you hit the wrong man when you swung that chair. Woman: Gordan baaabby, Do I look like the type of person whoever does something by accident? Everything I do, I do for a reason. My job is to motivate my men… to make them the best they can be. Look at Lex here, The Total Package has listened to what I’ve had to say and he is the Mid-South Champion. Vader… he seems to Vader: What … (Vader steps towards Woman) Are you saying you hit me with a chair on purpose. Woman: That is exactly what I’m saying. It was a test… A test you failed miserably. I thought you had something. I thought you had turned a corner but one hit with a chair by little ol’ me and you crumbled like the weakling you are. Vader steps even closer to Woman… WHAM… Luger attacks from behind and down goes Vader. Vader takes a nasty beating at the hands of the champion, and nobody comes to his aid. Gordon Solie: Folks, I can’t believe what I just saw. Woman and Lex Luger have turned on Vader and the big man is down. We really need to get some help out here. Please, if there is a medic in the back…. Uhmm, We got to go to break. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Gordon seems a little shaken at the violence of what we just saw but he composes himself to welcome in the Texas Outlaws. Gordon Solie: Stan Hansen … Dick Murdoch… you two have been on a roll over the last month. Folks all across the great state of Louisiana have been talking about you guys. Dick Murdoch: That’s right Gordon. There is no stopping Stan and myself. You got that Sheik. There’s no stopping us. Your Barbarians might be the champions but that is only until you step foot in that ring with us. Stan Hansen: I don’t care if its Houma. I don’t care if it’s in Baton Rouge. I don’t care if it’s the Louisiana swamps. Nord and Konga were coming from you. Gordon Solie: Well it looks like the Texas Outlaws have thrown out a challenge to the new Mid-South tag team champions, The Barbarians. We will be speaking to their manager, Sheik Adnan Al Kassie a little later in the show to get his thoughts on that match. Let’s head back to the ring. MATCH #3 Sweet Brown Sugar defeats Larry Cheatum with a Top Rope Missile Dropkick COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA When we come out of break, Dr. Death is at the podium. Gordon Solie: Dr. Death, we’ve haven’t seen you in a couple of weeks. I heard you were wrestling over in Japan. Tell us, what was that like. Dr. Death: Gordon… Japan is awesome. Wrestling is booming all over the county. The fans are second only to the fans here in Mid-South. But now I’m home and it seems like things have changed here a bit. Guys have been coming up to me since I got back. Telling me that something must be done about Ted Dibiase. They say he is more put of control then ever. He is just using money to buy protection. Saving his title without having to do the work. Well, Dibiase… you and I go way back. We were partners. We were opponents. I know more about you then any man here in Mid-South and I promise to put an end to your way of wrestling. Buying wins is over. I can’t be bought… and bad news for you… I can’t be beat! Dibiase, your time as Louisiana Champion is coming to an end. Gordon Solie: Well folks, I for one and real glad Dr. Death is back. Not so sure Mr. Dibiase feels the same way. Let’s get back to the ring. MATCH #4 Scott Steiner defeats The Grappler in a tough match as Steiner hit a big gut wrench suplex followed by a side slam. After the match, Scott Steiner headed to the podium. Gordon Solie: Scott… tough week. First you lose the tag titles and then you lose your partner, Hercules Hernandez. I want to bring everyone back to last week at the Lakefront Arena. VTR: We see the Barbarians defeat Scott Steiner and Hercules Hernandez and then we see an emotional, candid scene from the locker room where Steiner and Hercules embrace and Scott is emphatically apologizing to Hercules. Hercules is telling him not to worry and that he needs to focus on getting everything in his life in order. Scott Steiner: Gordon… Hercules is an awesome wrestler but more importantly, he is an awesome friend. He understands that Rick and I have some things to work out but that we are family. He understands that Rick will always come first as he is my family. He understands that I have been distracted of late. I feel really bad about not pulling my weight in our match against the Barbarians. I want to wish him the best. Gordon: Scott, I know this week has been tough on you. Good luck moving forward. Let’s take a break. COMMERCIAL BREAK -PROMO FOR RIVERSIDE CENTROPLEX IN BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA Main Event Match Mid-South TV Title Match Rick Steiner © vs Alofa with Sheik Adnan Al Kassie Let’s just get to the chaos at the end of this back and forth match. As Steiner looks like he is going for the belly to belly suplex, The Barbarians hit the ring and attack Rick. As you would expect, The Texas Outlaws were not far behind. A bit shocking to all, Ted Dibiase hits the ring and is actually fighting for his stablemates. The problem was that Scott Steiner and Dr. Death were headed to the ring and the brawl was on. For the first time in a long time in Mid-South, the fan favorites out number the heels. The Steiner Brothers, The Texas Outlaws and Dr. Death could not be stopped and it was surprising even to Gordon Solie that Sheik’s crew escaped without being really hurt. As Gordon signs off, the crowd is cheering on the babyfaces as they stand tall in the center of the ring. Gordon Solie: So long from the Pelican State. Dark Matches included: 1. The Texas Outlaws (Dick Murdoch & Stan Hansen) crushing two jobbers. 2. Manny Fernandez over The Red Shadow

While I did find your jobber names funny, I think these were much more what you would get in your territory. Nice job with that adjustment. I think we in Dawn of War use the Loser Leave Town Match a little much because of the nature of our rotating rosters. In history, it was used for the biggest of feuds. Jerry Lawler-Bill Dundee... Tommy Rich vs Ted Dibiase. I think your match borders on that as you have built these teams up and now they have a big following in your territory. Nice match. I hope to see Paul Jones regroup and come right back after the Renegades. I think Wahoo knows the end is near. He has struggled in his last few territories in our game. At least for him, the built in angle of Native American vs Native American will allow him some great promos about pride and history.

Very enjoyable show. -Good setup to get the belt off of Savage. The uncleared wrestler angle always works to keep your man strong. -I always thought Gary Hart was awesome on the mic. Good job capturing that. Through in an angry Muta and we have a nice angle going. - I think the contract signing has a place in wrestling and it is for the giant promotions looking to sell tickets to large arenas. That fits well with you and Den. Nice job. - Only is the sport of wrestling would the Rockers call out the TOWERS. Nice booking. For me the Dusty-Race angle is still my favorite. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out. -

Free agency is now open. Current writers please look at the Stampede roster to see if you lost anyone after Stampede added his roster.

Great stipulation for the match with the Arkansas Terrors... This is always a great angle and let's set what becomes of Dark Journey under her new team for the next 3 months. Awesome booking... So who was the blonde in Daisy Dukes? Arkansas is must read TV...

Mid-South has a few tag teams on the rise that wouldn't mind challenging the Wrecking Crew! Stan Hansen says Ole is way past his prime... lol

Big TV event with a Loser Leave Town Match... So long Mike George! Gagne continues to prove why I hate him!! Such a good job by you getting so much heat on Gagne. Crusher Blackwell and Kokina w/Abbuda Iaukea vs. El Canek and Nick Busick w/Mando Guerrero--- Awesome match for TV plus the wild ending allows all these endings to continue. Good job here. Another good job getting so much out of Austin Idol. He keeps going from one big angle to another and never skips a beat. I could see him doing this in real life. He was a great heel, babyface and was always good on the mic. Good work here! The slow rise of Warrior, from the weekly promos that he was coming to the match with the jobber allow his character to rise without having to get him in an angle right away. Very smart. It is funny how we all love our territories and venues, me included. That being said, I am really looking forward to your show in Alaska. I think we all do a pretty good job of writing for our fans. I try to do that Southern style in Mid-South and Memphis. Den has WWF down for sure. I think you and LowBlow are doing a great job with your roster and shows of growing towards that national audience, etc... LastStopTour has shown us any area can be very interesting if you write for your fans. I wonder what a promotion in Alaska would look like. Sounds like a fun project. Great work!

Savage and Steamboat + Koloff/Rhodes all on TV... can't wait to see what the next big event is going to be like. Interesting that Savage is out... can't wait to see what is next. And the other question is ... What is Slick up do. Don't trust a man named Slick. Hacksaw with Dusty seems so natural to me.

Mid-South adds Norman Smiley and Jimmy Del Ray

Mid-South would get back Fred Ottman
