I'm Gordon Solie alongside me is Buddy Colt. Buddy: Fans we will see a big main event today as Dusty Rhodes defends his Florida title against Kevin Sullivan in a street fight. The Brisco Brothers face Terry Daniels and Cy Jernigan, Angelo Mosca vs Steve Sybert & Brian Blair vs Baron Mikel Scicluna. Gordon: Also we'll hear from Promoter Eddie Graham as he is fired up about last week when Terry Daniels' dress blues were cut up and Ronnie Bass' cowboy hat was destroyed. we'll be right back! --Commercial Break-- Gordon: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Right now let's go to the ring for Brian Blair vs Baron Mikel Sciclina. Brian Blair w/Destroyer vs Baron Mikel Scicluna Ride of the Valkyries plays as Baron Mikel Scicluna comes to the ring Gordon: well last week we saw young Curt Hennig defeat with relative ease. will Brian Blair be able to put away the veteran Scicluna in the same fashion this week. Buddy: Scicluna a crafty veteran of wrestling. He told me earlier today that last week's loss was simply a fluke. He will be the one to defeat young Brian Blair in short order. Brian Blair and Destroyer run down to the ring as the fans cheer Scicluna attempt to pearl harbor Blair by attacking him when his back is turned as he gets in the ring. Destroyer is yelling a few unmentionable words that thankfully the camera was not able to pick up. Blair comes back full speed as a he does not one but two dropkicks on Scicluna in succession of one another. He puts the downed Scicluna in the boston crab. Scicluna writhes on the mat and tries to no avail to escape. He finally gives up and gives Blair the win @ 2:14 Gordon: well so much for Baron Scicluna's theory I suppose. Brian Blair easily put away Scicluna for the 1-2-3. Buddy: Brian Blair has been taking all the advice that his mentor Destroyer has been giving him. I am told it was Destroyer who taught young Blair the Boston Crab. Gordon: let's go to comments from Curt Hennig and after that we'll head right into a commercial break. Curt: Angelo Mosca you are a low life toad. You run around here talking a lot of garbage about my old man. My dad Larry is a man's man and you know anytime anyplace he'd whup your butt from pillar to post. Curt: You called my dad a loser. My father is done everything in this business. He made a lot of sacrifices to entertain the fans. Dad couldn't always be there at my ball games but I knew he genuinely cared about if my team won or lost. Right now let's go to the ring for Angelo Mosca vs Steve Sybert. Angelo Mosca vs Steve Sybert Angelo Mosca totally overpowers and puts a hurting on the inexperienced Sybert. He continues to punish Sybert when it is obvious he could've pinned him already. He piledrives Sybert and pins him for the win @ 3:51 Hurts So Good blares as Curt Hennig comes down to the ring. He and Mosca take turns hurting each other. Rufus R Jones, Destroyer, Brian Blair and several referees come down and separate them. Gordon: brother you talk about a barn burner waiting to happen. When I started you trained in the gym and put your name on the dotted line. If you could whip somebody's butt you won the match and the prize. I am frankly sick and tired of getting stonewalled and stymied. my hands are tied now that I am in the position of owner of Championship Wrestling from Florida. I have to find out soon if I got any left in the tank for one last run. I am gonna stand up for America and my friends. I gotta do what's right! Barbara Clary: Eddie there have been rumors floating around that your son Mike is possibly headed back home to Florida? Eddie: Barbara I have heard that as well. You see Lord Alfred and his dear mother have paid for us to receive the very best trainers who have helped us work out in the gym. We've been working out and are simply in the best shape of our entire careers. I am a former world champion. You two beer drinking buffoons are gonna get yours. Jerry Brisco: Mother Hayes has spared no expense in getting us the very best training. you two cowboys are gonna get yours. The Brisco's (Jack/Jerry) w/Lord Alfred Hayes vs Terry Daniels/Cy Jernigan The Brisco's both destroy their opponents in the opening moments. the match doesn't get far though as The Long Riders run in and start brawling with The Brisco's. the referee throws the whole match out as a result. Ron Bass and Ricky Harris go to the announce area to talk to Gordon Gordon: last week was a very emotional time as your beloved cowboy hat was destroyed by The Brisco's Ron Bass: Waylon Jennings gave me that very hat. I love that hat so dang much. Those two Indians need to pay for what they done. Ricky Harris: Brisco's you may be native to our country. that's all true. You guys though are a disgrace to the Indians for what ya'll are doing. Ron Bass: I'll get over it in time I am sure. What that evil Sullivan did last week to our good friend Terry Daniels was a national disgrace. One day after Veterans Day and they had the damn nerve to do what they did. It's sick! Dusty Rhodes vs Kevin Sullivan w/Freddie Blassie for the Florida title in a Street Fight Michael Jackson's Thriller plays as Freddie Blassie leads Kevin Sullivan to the ring as the fans boo them ferociously a few fans call them a bunch of communist pigs. some call them draft dodgers. whatever the insult it only makes Blassie smirk. Bob Seger's Katmandu hits and suddenly the fans are jumping up and down and screaming Dusty, Dusty, Dusty.... Dusty comes down to the ring and the fans are even louder. Dusty hugs a few lucky fans along the way. Dusty straight away starts beating on Sullivan. the fans are just about going nuts as they scream for their hero. the fans are screaming wildly and chanting Dusty's name as he unleashes an arsenal of moves on Kevin Sullivan. Dusty hits his patented bionic elbow on a dazed Sullivan. He quickly rolls him up for the win to retain his Florida title @ 11:26 Dusty grabs the house mic. Dusty: Dat der babays was for all my many many fans here in the great state of Floriduh. my sweet babays know dat Americun Dweem is always in der corner. Dusty: dat victory was for Americuh. Americuh da bootiful home of da bwave. I saw ssometing last week that sickened me babays. Terry Daniels git on down here! the marine corps hymn plays as Terry Daniels comes down to the ring to a thunderous applause and screaming from the fans Dusty: now babay dusty knows dat you ain't won too often so far in your caweer. Gordon: that should be one to watch for sure. you talk about a main event in any arena with that one and you're getting it today for free. Buddy: we'll also see Kevin Sullivan & Maya Singh in tag team action against Steve Sybert & newcomer Terry Daniels. Also two outstanding singles matches as Dusty Rhodes faces Purple Haze in a defense of his Florida title & Curt Hennig vs Baron Mikel Scicluna. Right now let's go to the ring for our first match of the day. 'Cool' Curt Hennig vs Baron Mikel Scicluna Baron Mikel Scicluna is introduced to the fans as they await Curt Hennig's arrival Gordon: Scicluna is a new arrival here in Florida. Buddy: Baron Scicluna is a veteran of the squared circle. It should be interesting how he fares against a young man who is certainly rising in the ranks like Curt Hennig. Gordon: Hennig a 2nd generation wrestler as he is the son of Larry The Ax. He seems to be pretty popular with the fans especially the young ladies. Hurts So Good plays as the fans go wild as Curt Hennig makes his way down to the ring. He takes the time to slap hands and hug a few lucky fans along the way. Scicluna pearl harbors Hennig as he attacks him before he can get his ring jacket off. the referee separates them as the timekeeper finally rings the bell. Curt fires back though with a few lefts and rights. He smacks away at the chest of Scicluna as he punishes him. He Hennig-Plex's Scicluna who is down and out. Curt quickly covers him for the win @ 2:35 Gordon: Curt Hennig put away Baron Scicluna in short order there. Buddy: He sure did. Curt grabs the house mic away from the ring announcer. Curt: Angelo Mosca you and you and the rest of your pals The Brisco Brothers are nothing but a bunch of cheaters. like I said before the war between you and me has only just begun my man. Gordon: what is your opinion of Alfred Hayes? we all saw how he behaved towards poor Barbara last week. Eddie: that big sissy best keep his trap shut when it comes to my family. Buddy: Terry is a fine young athlete who Eddie feels just needs the right place like Florida to really do something special. Gordon: Of course Eddie is a big supporter of our US military. Sullivan and Maya cheat and use every dirty underhanded tactic in the book as they put a hurting on their opponents Daniels tries to make a come back but is just too hurt to do much of anything. Sullivan locks Daniels in the Tree of Woe (Figure 4 Leglock). Daniels writhes in pain and taps out to give The Family the win @ 7:53 Freddie appears to hand something to Sullivan who is laughing maniacally. Kevin Sullivan takes a pair of scissor and starts cutting up Terry Daniels' dress blues. Gordon Solie: this is a sick absolutely appalling display as Terry Daniels' uniform is now in tatters Freddie Blassie knocks a shaky Terry Daniels down with his cane as he tries to get back up Sullivan and Blassie head over to the announce desk Gordon: Kevin what on earth was that all about? Jack Brisco pounds away at Ricky Harris. This one quickly turns bloody too as chairs, ring steps and more are involved. Lord Alfred hands something to Jack and Jerry as all three sport huge grins. We see that it is a cowboy hat. Jack Brisco rips Ronnie Bass' cowboy hat up to shreds. Gordon: oh my goodness Ron Bass' cowboy had is history. Bass and Harris are ready to kill. Eddie Graham comes down to make it a fair fight as Alfred tries to smack around some people. Gordon: ladies and gentlemen we are outta time here today. what a wild show it has been as now Ron Bass' beloved cowboy hat is no more. the show comes to a close as officials separate all parties involved. Mark Lewin vs Curt Hennig Hurts So Good blares out the speakers as the girls start screaming wildly as 'Cool' Curt Hennig makes his way down to the ring Curt paces anxiously to find who he faces. John Carpenter's Halloween theme plays as we see Kevin Sullivan, Mark Lewin and an unidentified man come down to the ring Gordon: folks we have no idea yet who that man is with Haze and Sullivan. Curt: My back was in pain for several days after that. I'm still not 100 percent pain wise but wasn't gonna pull myself out of the tournament for nothing. Angelo Mosca walks over pretending to cry Mosca: wah wah wah poor poor Curt. You little puke don't deserve to be in this damn tournament. Curt: So who should be in my spot then? you? Mosca: you damn right! You stole it from me! Mosca is irate and smacks Hennig this one turns into a wild brawl all over the ringside area Barbara Clary: we'll be back.... -Commercial Break- Gordon Solie: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. What a brawl we just saw between Curt Hennig and Angelo Mosca on Barbara Clary's Take Five. Buddy Colt: Angelo feels the spot should've been his. Curt though has a tough tough match opponent in Kevin Sullivan in just a minute. Curt Hennig awaits Kevin Sullivan's arrival as he is already in the ring Buddy: I'm being told now that Eddie Graham and the rest of the board of directors for this promotion have told Angelo he'd be fined 10,000 if he interferes in this match. Gordon: a wise choice by our president. We see Kevin Sullivan come down to ringside and mock Hennig with his howdy doody doll Beginning: This is a wild and fast paced match as both men want to win desperately Middle: Sullivan blasts away at Hennig. He hits him with a nasty punch to his abdominal area. End: Sullivan locks in the Tree of Woe (Figure 4 Leglock) on a down and out Hennig who writhes on the mat in pain. Hennig finally submits after trying to break the hold @ 7:51 Gordon: brother that last match with Dusty and Sullivan is sure to be a barn burner. We'll get to that and more when we come back! -Commercial Break- Gordon: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83... We see Mike Shaw walk out to the announce desk looking irate Gordon: Can I help you sir? Mike: that's real great you don't even know my damn name! Soon enough Solie you will remember it. Gordon: What are you doing here? Mike: The name for now is Mike Shaw. I am here because I am sick to death of being overlooked around here. I guess I wasn't good enough to be in that Florida title tournament. Gordon: what can I do about it? Mike: You tell Eddie Graham that I'm damn angry. Instead of hyping actual wrestlers he comes out here and hypes up some snot nosed kid of Fritz Von Erich who hasn't even wrestled a match. Gordon: well I will tell him. Right now we have a match to get to. Mike: Stop trying to get rid of me. That little snot nosed kid Mike Von Erich is probably still wet behind the ears. He's an idiot just like those loser brothers of his hahaha. Mike Von Erich: don't you ever run your fat mouth about my brothers man. I can and will kick your butt! Mike Shaw: I'd like to see you try shorty. Your big brothers ain't here now to fight your battles shrimp. Mike Von Erich: My brothers might not be here but I don't need 'em. Mike Von Erich and Mike Shaw brawl all over the studio by the announce desk before several wrestlers are sent out to separate them. Eddie Graham comes out to make an announcement. Eddie: Right now Mike Von Erich is not yet cleared by the state athletic commission to wrestle professionally til next month. I am signing you two to a match next month at our big card Lords of the Ring. We don't have a date or a venue set just yet but this is a good addition. Mike Von Erich nods in agreement as he and Eddie head to the back. CWF agents escort Mike Shaw back to the dressing room area. Gordon: fans that could be one you wanna watch. Lords of the Ring is already heating up the Sunshine State with just those two matches. Gordon: Kevin Sullivan vs Dusty Rhodes is our final match of the day and one of them will be Florida champion. Sullivan's family of course is banned from ringside still. Old Time Rock and Roll plays as Dusty comes down to the ring to a loud chorus of cheers from his many fans John Carpenter's Halloween plays as Kevin Sullivan comes down to the ring to a loud chorus of boos from the fans Beginning: These two put on a classic back and forth brawl from the very start Middle: Dusty gains the upperhand as he chops away at Sullivan. Sullivan tries to make a comeback and does but not for long. End: Dusty hits his Bionic Elbow on Sullivan. He covers Sullivan for the win and the Florida heavyweight title @ 11:22. the fans go wild and scream Dusty, Dusty, Dusty.... Promoter Eddie Graham comes down to the ring and presents a tired and exhausted Dusty Rhodes with the Florida Heavyweight title Dusty holds up the belt Dusty: This is a dweem realized once again babays. My sweet babays now have a champion that they can believe in. Dusty: Kevin Sullivan you don't know babay what it is to have the love of these great people. I love them all no matter what damn color they is. Dusty Rhodes celebrates his title victory with his people as they cheer his name Gordon and Buddy both have smiles on their faces after this feel good moment. I'm Gordon Solie alongside me is Buddy Colt. Buddy Colt: Today fans is a big day as we kick off the hunt for the Florida Heavyweight title. 10 big names will be involved in that one. Gordon: Absolutely! Today's show will feature the opening round of that title tournament. I'll be talking with Eddie Graham in just a bit to get today's match ups as well as discuss his ideas for crowning United States tag team champions. Buddy Colt: a big day on Championship Wrestling '83. Don't go anywhere cause we'll be back! -Commercial Break- Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now bring out Eddie Graham to discuss the big Florida title tournament. Gordon Solie: Eddie what can the fans expect as far as matches go for the Florida title tournament today? Eddie Graham: well earlier today I put all the names into a computer and got five random matches. We'll see Dusty Rhodes once again in a bit of great justice will face Bob Roop, Roddy Piper will face Johnny Weaver, Kevin Sullivan faces Brian Blair, Curt Hennig will face Angelo Mosca and in the opener Manny Fernandez will face the challenge of Mark Lewin. Gordon: wow talk about an awesome show any way you slice it. What is the latest also on the situation with the US Tag Team Titles? Eddie: well Gordon I am going to put together six teams to have ourselves a tournament in the near future. Right now I wanna see the Florida Heavyweight title be won by the new champion whoever that might be. Gordon: I've been hearing rumors that the mad man from Sudan Abdullah The Butcher will be coming to Florida very soon Eddie: I will put those rumors to rest right here and now. Abdullah is indeed on his way here on the 22nd for a match at the Bayfront Center in St Petersburg. Gordon: I'm told we have a video to show you highlighting Abdullah so let's go to that VTR Segment now [Video] [/Video] We also see Abdullah eating raw chicken in between shots of the music video Gordon Solie: what a disturbing individual. Manny Fernandez vs Mark Lewin Manny Fernandez waits for Lewin as he paces in the ring Mark Lewin along with Kevin Sullivan make their way to ringside Beginning: Lewin and Fernandez just beat the hell out of each other in this wild opening match Middle: Lewin takes control of the match as the experienced mat veteran schools young Fernandez. End: Lewin hits his package piledriver on Manny Fernandez. He covers him for the win to advance in the tournament @ 6:27 we see suddenly the light flicker a bit on and off. Lewin grabs a no. 2 pencil and begins to carve up the forehead of his latest victim as John Carpenter's Halloween theme plays. all of a sudden Johnny Weaver runs down and tries to stop Lewin Mark Lewin and Kevin Sullivan are too much though for Weaver as they are all over him Dusty Rhodes and Brian Blair run out to help Johnny Weaver to the locker rooms for medical attention. Sullivan and Lewin come over to the desk to talk to Gordon. Kevin: hahahaha Gordon I love the month of October. You see Halloween is really the best time of year! Gordon: you sir are certainly a most disturbing individual. Why did you have to hurt that young man? Kevin: Fernandez was just a mere pawn in getting that old man Weaver out here. You see Purple Haze and myself knew the big hero couldn't resist coming to the aid of Manny. Kevin: The Chairman is not really happy with that washed up loser Johnny Weaver anyway. Gordon: When can we see The Chairman? Does he really exist at all? Kevin: He does indeed exist. Mr Solie you and the rest of these people will find out who he is in due time hahahaha. Gordon: we'll be back in just a minute. -Commercial Break- Gordon: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Right now Curt Hennig will face Angelo Mosca in our next match. Curt Hennig vs Angelo Mosca Hurts So Good blares as Curt Hennig comes out as the fans scream for him. He is hugged on and kissed by a few female fans as he gets to the ring. Buddy Colt: young Curt Hennig something of a ladies man here today. The girls seem to love him. Gordon Solie: well he is certainly an excellent competitor. Angelo Mosca makes his way down to the ring eventually as the fans boo him. Gordon: Well clearly these fans heard him last week with his not too kind parting shot in that video about Curt Hennig. Beginning: Mosca tries to play dirty but Curt is having none of that. He takes the veteran Mosca to task for talking trash about him. Middle: Hennig gains the upper hand as he takes it to Mosca. End: Hennig hits a belly to belly suplex. He rolls up Mosca for the win @ 7:17 Mosca is irate as he snaps and attacks Hennig with a chair. He tosses a lifeless and bloody Hennig onto the wooden chair. Angelo Mosca comes over to the desk Mosca: That damn punk needs to show me the respect I deserve! He's nothing more than a damn pretty boy. Buddy Colt: Angelo you could've done serious damage to his back by slamming him onto that chair. Mosca: I don't care! that little puke doesn't deserve to even lace my damn boots. Angelo Mosca is escorted to the back. Curt Hennig finally is revived and able to get up. He comes over to the announce desk. Curt Hennig: Gordon that man has the audacity to nearly break my back. I am in the prime of my life! Mosca you started a war that you won't soon get out of. This is for the long haul now! Gordon: When we come back Kevin Sullivan will face Brian Blair in the next tournament match and so much more! -Commercial Break- Gordon Solie: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's bring out Brian Blair to discuss his upcoming match. Gordon: Brian how do you feel about going up against Kevin Sullivan here in round one? Brian Blair: Well it is definitely gonna be a tough one. Sullivan is a lunatic and likes to hurt people. I will do all I can to make sure I advance in the tournament. Gordon: good luck to you sir. Brian Blair gets in the ring and awaits his opponent Brian Blair vs Kevin Sullivan John Carpenter's Halloween theme plays as Kevin Sullivan comes down to the ringside area Kevin Sullivan shows Brian Blair his howdy doody doll. He compares Brian Blair to howdy doody. Beginning: Sullivan uses every dirty tactic he can to hurt Blair. Middle: Blair tries to make a comeback and does for a minute or two. Kevin Sullivan: hahahaha howdy doody went down for the 1-2-3. I told ya Brian don't mess with me! Sullivan: You were simply all too easy to put away. I am now one step closer to becoming Florida champion! Gordon: let's go to our commercial break -Commercial Break- Buddy Colt: Welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's now go to my colleague Gordon Solie who is standing by with Bob Roop. Gordon: Mr Roop you face the man who has been in your crosshairs for some time now Bob Roop: That fat pig Dirty Rhodes is gonna pay! Gordon: What Roop: That fat pig Dusty Rhodes is gonna pay! Gordon: You just said that Roop: That fat pig Dusty Rhodes is gonna... Gordon: are you having a problem? Roop: That fat pig... Gordon: Why don't you collect your thoughts and then we will talk then Bob Roop is seen repeating that same line over and over as he goes to the back Gordon: well that was certainly interesting to say the least. Let's bring out The American Dream Dusty Rhodes. Bob Seger's Old Time Rock and Roll blares as Dusty comes down to the ringside area for an interview Gordon: Dusty you look great my friend Dusty: Gordon I look good and feel good! Bob Roop it is crystal clear babay that sumting ain't right witu Gordon: Dusty what are your thoughts so far on the tournament? Dusty: well I gotta hand it to my boy Curt Hennig. He's a great talented young man who is gonna be a big star in professional wrassling soon. Dusty: Also Purple Haze and that sick demented Kevin Sullivan cheated their way to a victory. I am gonna be looking out for em. Gordon: Let's go now to the ring for our next match Bob Roop vs Dusty Rhodes Roop comes back out to the ring still chanting the same thing Beginning: This one is a wild back and forth brawl all over the ring and ringside area Middle: Dusty continues to dish out his usual moves on Roop. Roop gets in a few shots but seems rather subdued and out of it. End: Dusty lands his patented Bionic Elbow on Bob Roop. He pins Roop for the win to advance in the tournament at 13:06 Kevin Sullivan and Mark Lewin come out and are seen talking with Bob Roop. He walks to the back with them as Sullivan is maniacally laughing. Gordon Solie: folks that cannot be anything good. Right now let's take our final break and we'll get to the final match of the day. -Commercial Break- Buddy Colt: welcome back to Championship Wrestling '83. Let's go now to our colleague Barbara Clary for a new segment called Take Five. Barbara Clary: Thanks Buddy. Take Five will be a segment that focuses on a wrestler's career in the world of wrestling in and outside the ropes. Clary: My guests this week are Ron Bass and Ricky Harris. Waylon Jennings' Good Ol' Boy plays as Bass & Harris make their way to the ringside area for their interview Clary: last week we saw The Brisco Brothers make a shocking return to Florida when they attacked you both Ron Bass: you damn right they attacked us. Jack Brisco you can call it an equalizer. I call it a damn near pearl harbor job. Ricky Harris: You guys used to be people could both aspire to be like. what happened? Ron Bass: When I first got into wrestling I wanted to be just like Jack Brisco. He was a man I could look up to and be like. Barbara Clary: What did you guys think of him calling you both a couple of bar room brawlers? Jack Brisco: well well let's hear this now. What did you bar room brawling pieces of trash think of that comment? Ron Bass: I think you need to step back and get outta my face. You get in my face I'll knock you down! Jack Brisco gets right up to Ron Bass and is smirking at him Jack Brisco: There I'm in your face. C'mon cowboy let's tangle the interview abruptly ends as fists go flying as this one turns into a wild fight Gordon Solie: brother I tell you that is one feud that is just beginning to heat up. The state of Florida will need to watch that one because it is gonna be a wild and wooly match when they do fight in an official sanctioned match. Buddy Colt: Brisco Brothers have certainly become quite arrogant as of late. Jack Brisco was at one considered to be one of the great world heavyweight champions. Solie: fans let's go to the ring for our final match of the day Roddy Piper vs Johnny Weaver Piper and Weaver come to the ring side by side. Weaver puts out his hand to shake and Piper shakes it as they enter the ring. Solie: Weaver and Piper are certainly at this point going to put their friendship aside so that one of the two can advance in the tournament. It is purely luck of the draw that they ended up wrestling against each other. Beginning: Piper and Weaver put on an amazing technical match as it is clear they both badly want to be champion Middle: Piper gains the upper hand as he hits his Scotland The Brave (High Knee Lift). Weaver is dazed and out of it. End: Piper hits a belly to back suplex on Weaver. He covers him for the win and to advance at 7:20 Piper collapses outside the ring in pure joy as he cannot believe he has advanced. The fans are screaming and chanting Piper, Piper, Piper & so on Gordon Solie: that's all the time we have for this week. so long from the sunshine state!
