(It's been a crazy week this week, I've had some health issues that put me out of commission for a few days but I'm slowly getting it back together but in an effort to not get behind…this week's TV will be brief highlights) UWF/CCW Television Recorded on June 26, 1985 at the Sportatorium in Tampa, FL. Opening TV match saw CCW Tag Champs the Nightmares defeat Ted Allen/Carl Fergie. Solie shows footage from last week of the Nightmares narrowly escaping Killer Khan/Great Kabuki once again. Buddy Wayne says he doesn't condone the Night mares walking out of the title match…HOWEVER, due to Killer Khan spitting the green mist in the eyes of the referee Khan/Kabuki will not be getting a rematch for the tag team titles and will be forced to wrestle singles bouts for the entire month of July. This Monday the Nightmares will have to defend their CCW tag titles in a Four Corners Match against 3 sets of challengers. COMMERCIAL AIRED FOR UWF BATTLEGROUND The Stud Stable feud is reviewed which Is leading to some six man tags in the area as well as a Southern Tag Team Title match this Monday in Birmingham where Eddie Gilbert/Tommy Rich will defend against Robert Fuller/Jimmy Golden with Big John Studd/"Tn. Stud" Ron Fuller handcuffed together at ringside to avoid any interference. 2nd match of the day is Big John Studd defeated Porkchop Cash with a bearhug A long overview is shown highlighting Freddie Blassie/Austin Idol/David Sammartino/Super Olympia's recent issues with Mr. Olympia, Dusty Rhodes, Blackjack Mulligan, Kendall Windham, Junk Yard Dog, and the Road Warriors They also examined what seems to now be an alliance with Bruiser Brody. They discuss tomorrow night's match in Tampa between Mr. Olympia and Bruiser Brody and the HUGE 8 MAN TAG MATCH- COUNTDOWN TO BATTLEGROUND match featuring Austin Idol/David Sammartino/Super Olympia/Teddy Muscles vs. Mr. Olympia/Blackjack Mulligan/Kendall Windham/The Junk Yard Dog! 3rd match featured Mr. Olympia defeating Roy Lee Welch with a powerslam Gordon and Joe talk about how Mr. Wrestling 2 has taken Shane Douglas under his wing as a protégé and has been coming to ringside for his matches and coaching him on what he needs to improve on. You have mastered the feel of the WWC...I'm big fan of Hercules Ayala and he has immedietely made an impact here, Chicky Starr is in trouble.

I think it served it's purpose as being both a MegaSuperCard for the UWF as well as a huge blow off for the Texas vs. Tennessee angle. I get the concerns about Flair and such...but I don't the casual fan in 1985 would really think much of any of that, they would enjoy the action and some really fun matches. It will be exciting to see where the USWA goes from here!

Dusty is livid, as Teddy rolls Sammartino away (David sneaks a smirk at Dusty)…Dusty says this bulls*** (which is bleeped for TV) and tells Watts he's headed back to Texas…because this is a joke!! Dusty storms out as the Watts says the match will be postponed until a later time when they can prove the 'injuries' of Sammartino are bogus ============================================== LOCAL PROMOS for Miami & Birmingham ============================================== MATCH #3- Continental Tag Team Championship The Nightmares defeated Black Bart/"Outlaw" Ron Bass by DQ when 9 minutes into the match Great Kabuki/Killer Khan hit the ring and attack the Nightmares still mad about the DQ stunt Davis/Wayne pulled two weeks ago in Birmingham. Hey guys...going out of town in the morning for a three mini-vacation. As Kendall celebrated, Dusty came in the ring and started raining down big right fists on the head of the man who cost the UWF World Championship….Sammartino's head is busted open and the Dream is wailing on him…..finally security and referee's come in and pull Dusty off of Sammartino…..and drag David out of the ring to safety….Dusty asks for a microphone. Dusty: "Listen here baby, don't you dare think that was it…..I'm just getting started on yo' sorry behind…you hear me, Salmonteeno….I have not even begun to pay you back for what you did boy! Every time you start to think it's safe, you better look over your shoulder cause I will not rest until you are out of this great sport….I'm gonna be whoopin' yo' sorry ass for days, weeks, months, and years to come baby….you have made an enemy fo' life and I promise you, you will NEVER win a title in wrestling as long as I have something to do about it!"

Yeah that's a tricky subject, on one hand there's a real case to be made for the argument if they aren't in the same real life scenario it wouldn't have the same result. Especially in this case with Patera/Saito and even Gino. If we are completely changing the course of their careers wouldn't it change their personal life as well (i.e. the Butterfly Effect) Even Piper, would he still end up leaving for Hollywood if the territories are still thriving? I've always been torn about that. I get the reason for going with real life deaths from car wrecks and health issues but would guys like Gino and Dino Bravo have met the same fate if their careers took a significantly diffent path? Tough call.

Amazing card, the Road Warriors were so over in Japan in '85. Cool match with the Giants fighting from underneath. While Flair/Jumbo is an awesome match, I see Tenyru and Fujiwara probably stealing the show.

Great action here...I'm keeping an eye on the Roughnecks and Al Madril, I've always been a fan of Al Madril in Texas and in Portland.

Great cards here! Can't wait to see Steamboat tie up with Al Perez, that will be a classic!

Agreed Barry Windham vs. Bret Hart is an amazing match, even in '85. Kamala and Sika is an interesting threat down the line for the Machines.

Monday June 10, 1985 Bell Time- 7:30pm Mike Graham pinned Grappler #1 with a small package……afterwards Grappler #2 hit the ring and the Grapplers double teamed Graham until Tyree Pride ran in to make the save The Stud Stable (Tommy Rich/"Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert) defeated The Tonga Kid/Sabu when Gilbert pinned Sabu after a 'Hot Shot' U.S. Jr. Title Chain Match "Superstar" Bill Dundee defeated Shane Douglas in a brutal chain match that saw both men bloodied House of Humperdink (Mark Lewin/Killer Brooks) w/Sir Oliver Humperdink & Fallen Angel fought to a double countout with The Southern Boys (Steve Armstrong/Tracy Smothers) Southeastern Heavyweight Title Mr. Wrestling 2 defeated "Exotic" Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda by DQ when Wrestling 2 landed the knee lift and Ms. Linda ran in and jumped on his back causing referee Bill Alphonso to call for the bell Continental Tag Team Titles The Nightmares (Danny Davis/Ken Wayne) beat Killer Khan/Great Kabuki w/Tojo Yammamoto by DQ when Kabuki and Khan nearly had the Nightmares beat….Davis distracted the referee while Wayne reached in his tights and smeared something green all over his face….Davis pointed at Wayne and said that Kabuki spit it in his Wayne's face and the referee Ron West called for the DQ…Tojo, Kabuki, and Khan were livid as the Nightmares fled while the fans cheered! SEMI-MAIN EVENT Return Grudge Match No DQ Alabama Heavyweight Title "Dirty White Boy" Tony Anthony w/Fallen Angel & Sir Oliver Humperdink defeated the Bullet to win the title First Purple Haze and Killer Brooks ran in but were quickly fought off by The Southern Boys, while this was happening on the floor…..A huge man with a black hooded robe with a barely visible painted face (Ray Traylor) hit the ring and attacked the Bullet before hitting him with a side slam….allowing DWB to get the pinfall. Afterwards, the big man tried to remove the mask of the Bullet but he broke away…..Humperdink grabbed a mic and announced, "Meet the newest member of the Dark Army/House of Humperdink…..DEATH WISH!" MAIN EVENT STEEL CAGE MATCH Bruiser Brody/Mr. Olympia defeated "Universal Heartthrob" Austin Idol/"The Living Legacy" David Sammartino w/Blassie & Arcidi when Brody pinned Sammartino after a 'big boot' to the head…..After the match as Brody exits the cage, Idol/Sammartino grab Olympia and pull him back in….A masked man dressed exactly like Mr. Olympia runs into the cage as Teddy Muscles slams the cage door shut and re-locks it so Brody can't get back in…..Brody realizes Olympia isn't behind him and heads back to the cage and breaks into a brawl with Teddy Muscles on the floor while inside the cage, Idol/Sammartino/and what appears to be a 2nd Mr. Olympia beat down the original Mr. Olympia and work over his previously injured knee….they climb over the cage to escape as Brody finally gets past Arcidi and rips the cage door open.
