CCW would like to go ahead and send Sir Oliver Humperdink to UWF as part of another trade that will be completed on June 1st In his place, CCW would like to pick up Florida wrestling star Tyree Pride who has apparently fallen off the free agent list as I don't see him listed on anyone elses roster unless I'm mistaken.

  4. Funk manages to get the US title off Magnum, this has been one of my favorite feuds to follow in the NWA!
  5. Summer Showdown looks like it will be another in a long line of great shows from the WWF.
  6. Great start to your promotion. I followed the WWC in the magazines when I was a kid and watched some via tape trading a few years ago....looking forward to following this and seeing where it goes.
  7. I really enjoy the unpredictability of your shows...you really get the feeling that almost anyone could pull off a win at anytime which makes for an exciting show.
  8. Mick Foley trying to breakdance owned me. That's what I love about your shows is the fact the cards are so solid but then there's fun stuff thrown in to keep it from being overly serious.

The crowd went ballistic as Ellering covers Hump and Animal makes another three count……The Irwin Brothers look at Humperdink in the ring and shake their heads as they grab their CCW tag belts and leave him laid out in the ring (Prior to the Main Event) After both men were in the ring for the main event as the announcements were about to be made…..David Sammartino came to ringside and took the microphone. David: "Dream, I've seen what these men can do when they conspire together to take advantage of someone….they've done it to Mr. Olympia….they've done it to Jerry 'the King' Lawler and I'm sure they've got a plan tonight to screw you….I would be honored to be in your corner tonight to make sure they don't do anything to cost you that UWF World Championship." Dusty: "David Sammartino….I don't know you too well but I know yo' Daddy and he's an honorable man…..and clearly you are as well….I would consider it a personal favor for you to be my corner man and keep these guys out of the fray, if ya weel!" Blassie embraces David Sammartino at ringside as Idol grabs the belt and they take off down the aisle as Dusty struggles to get up off the mat….he grabs a mic. Dusty: "David Sammartino….YOU ARE A DEAD MAN BABY!! YOU HEAR ME…A DEAD MAN!!!"
  10. Awesome lead in for the Rumble! Thanks for the support. The UWF is coming together!
  11. CCW much appreciates Blackjack and Graham. To make room for these new additions, CCW drops: Scott Casey and the jobber pack of Gene Ligon, Rick Gibson, and Denny Brown.
  12. If we do this, can we make it to where we automatically get our people back that were taken from us if someone drops out? This kind of thing makes it hard to make longterm plans when we have to arbitrarily give people up for a draft after spending weeks and months statigically building a roster through trades and such...especially after already giving up people help folks out.
  13. If no one is opposed, CCW would also like to book Bruiser Brody on 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, and 6/30 Thanks!
  14. UWF Continental Championship Wrestling News - Big news coming out of CCW this week is that Bill Watts and Ron Fuller have decided that CCW is going to expand their promotion in Florida which currently has only been shows in Pensacola and Panama City. It's been decided that CCW will now do it's Television tapings every other Wednesday at the Sportatorium in Tampa, Florida instead of Dothan, they have secured television deals with numerous stations throughout the entire state of Florida which will double their viewership numbers. Hiro Matsuda has been hired to help run the CCW office out of Florida with Fuller focusing on the Alabama and MIssissippi end. They will continue to run Birmingham, Alabama every Monday night and will run a big show in Florida on Sunday nights. They will use a "B-crew" in some cases to continue to run the smaller towns in Mississippi and Alabama that they've currently been running and send the "A-crew" to the larger cities in all three states. - As a part of this expansion, there will be a Florida Heavyweight Champion crowned soon and the Southeastern Tag Team titles will be reinstated as well....to have titles to be defended at all of the shows throughout the territory. - Ron Fuller is hoping as part of this expansion and growth, CCW will be able to utilize other UWF talent on these cards in much the same way the NWA is sharing talent these days to help grow the UWF brand throughout the Southeast. - Rocket City Rumble will be the first CCW event to be filmed for a VHS release that will be sold at live events and made available via mail order as well. Gordon Solie and Joe Pedicino will not be brought in for this event, the commentary will be added in post production at the studio in Tampa, although if this event proves to be profitable...this may change for future releases.
  15. CCW TV Recorded on May 16th 1985 at the WTVY Studios in Dothan, AL. in front of a live studio audience Airing on stations throughout the territory on May 25th, 1985 Hosted by Gordon Solie & Joe Pedicino Ring Announcer: Rhubarb Jones (Show opens with highlights of last Monday night in Birmingham, Dirty White Boy defeated Wendell Cooley to win the Alabama title after Woman sprayed hair spray in Cooley's eyes, Bruiser Brody's swerve to win the CCW title from Austin Idol, Brad Armstrong and "Mystery Partner" The Bullet defeating the Andersons and running them out of the territory….we then cut to the opening montage and over to the desk with Gordon Solie and Joe Pedicino) Gordon: "Hello everyone and Welcome once again to Continental Championship Wrestling, what a huge program we have in store for you this week fresh off a huge night of action in Birmingham and gearing up for an even bigger event this Sunday at the VBC in Huntsville, Alabama as Continental Championship Wrestling and the Universal Wrestling Federation bring you the Rocket City Rumble!" Joe: "Gordon, you hear the term 'super card' get used, well this is the definition of a 'super card". Gordon: "Absolutely, we'll rundown the entire card a little bit later on but if you haven't gotten your tickets…shame on you because they are going fast and it's TOMORROW!! Right now, let's hear from UWF rep. "Cowboy" Bill Watts." ==================================================== (VTR- Bill Watts is standing in front of a UWF banner) Watts: "Continental Wrestling fans, the time is now…Rocket City Rumble is tomorrow in Huntsville, Alabama and it's going to be a show you will be telling your grandkids about. Nine matches on the card and every one of them could be a Main Event anywhere in the Southeast! Right now, I want to bring in the UWF World Heavyweight Champion, 'The American Dream' Dusty Rhodes." (Rhodes enters the frame with a UWF t-shirt on with the World title over his shoulder) Dusty: "Ya know somethin' Cowboy…….there's been a lot of talk goin' on with the Austin Idol….there's been a lot of talk goin' on with Mista Freddie Blassie if ya weel, well baby tomorrow night in Huntsville Alabama the time for talkin' is ova ya understand? It's easy to SAY you gonna whoop the American Dream….it's easy to say that I'mma fat slob and all that trash talk…..but it when comes time for tha rubber to hit tha road…that's what it is….TALK! Lets' see what you got Mista Heartthrob! You win some cup up in Canada and now you think you are unbeatable…..well baby, I'm comin' to Huntsville and I'm bringin' you another cup, a cup full of reality baby! Mista Idol, the reality is….you ain't big enough to take MY TITLE…..Mista Idol…you ain't BAD enough..to take MY TITLE! Play time is ova….the talkin' is done….now it's time to deal out them hard time blues and agony…..and Austin Idol, this fat man is gonna whoop yo a** all ova tha Rocket City, baby! Come on, with ya bad self!" (Dusty exits, Paul Ellering and Road Warriors enter with the UWF World Tag Team titles) Watts: "Paul, the Warriors have some tough challengers in the Long Riders, Bill and Scott Irwin." Paul: "Make no mistake Mr. Watts, the Long Riders are indeed a team…not to be taken lightly….These guys are destroyers…some might even say SUPER destroyers….but when they meet my Legion of Doom, it is they who will be destroyed!" Hawk: "Wellllll….it seems the Irwins are a couple of big bikers who like to throw their weight around…well guess what Irwins? We like to throw your weight around too…and that's exactly what we plan to do when we get to Alabama tomorrow night! Right, Animal!" Animal: "That's exactly right Hawk….a couple of big bikers may scare the tag teams in Continental but we beat up guys like that every truck stop we pass through leaving Chicago…..You will do the same thing every tag team that faces the Warriors do….LOSE!!" ===================================================== MATCH #1- The Bullet defeated Ted Allen with a Sleeperhold (Bullet joins Gordon Solie at the desk) Gordon: "Well it's a pleasure to meet you sir, welcome to CCW." Bullet: "It's great to be here Gordon, my good friend Bob Armstrong told me what great fans there are here in Continental and he was certainly right, now all we have to do is get that no good Dick Slater out of here and we will move on to other business, like that Continental Heavyweight Championship." Gordon: "You get that opportunity tomorrow in Huntsville at the Rocket City Rumble and we wish you the best of luck." Bullet: "I appreciate it but I won't need any luck now that there's not any Andersons left to interfere…it should be smooth sailing from here." ====================================================== COMMERCIAL- Gordon runs the full card for tomorrow's event in Huntsville CCW On Tour 1985 UWF/CCW Rocket City Rumble '85 Von Braun Civic Center Huntsville, AL. Scott Armstrong (Card Subject to Change) ==================================================== (VTR- pre-taped backstage promo with Charlie Platt interviewing Adrian Street w/Ms. Linda) Platt: "Not sure I can justify the means but you are now the #1 contender to the Southeastern Championship." Adrian: "What about the means, Chuck? I beat Willy Jack fair and square in the middle of the ring as promised and now I get to get down and dirty with one of the Armstrong boys. Bradley, I think it is. Well you listen here Bradley Armstrong, I think it's disgusting this charade your father is pulling coming back under a mask after he lost to Ole Anderson and if I get half a chance I'll snatch that rag off his head and expose him for the fraud he is….but meanwhile Bradley, I'm going to beat you and take the Southeastern Heavyweight title and there's really nothing anyone can do about it because I'm a superior wrestler to anyone you have on the roster and I will easily beat them all including all 17 Armstrongs and however many of those Fullers you have around here as well." Platt: "You are extremely confident." Adrian: "Well Chuck….you saw what I did to Willy Jack, now imagine…..what I could do to you…." Platt: "Um, I'd rather not…Gordon, back to you and Joe in the studio." ===================================================== Gordon: "Adrian Street is a strange man to say the least." Joe: "That’s one way to put it." Gordon: "Another big match that has been signed is an unorthodox match up, it's a four corners match to determine the #1 Contenders to the Continental Tag Team Titles as the Rock & Roll Express, The Grapplers w/Woman, The Nightmares, and the Midnight Rockers all face off to see who gets a shot at the Long Riders titles on Monday night in Birmingham." Joe: "That's a match that I'm certainly looking forward to, right now let's take a look at Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson, The Rock & Roll Express in action!" (VTR- A highlight video of the Rock & Roll Express competing in various territories plays set to the Kiss song, "Rock & Roll All Night") ======================================================== MATCH #2- The Grapplers w/Woman defeated Billy Travis/Denny Brown when Grappler #2 pinned Brown after swinging neckbreaker (The Grapplers and Woman join Joe Pedicino at ringside) Woman: "Joe, last Monday night as promised, My Grapplers defeated the Nightmares in a first blood match and tomorrow night in Huntsville they are going to beat them again along with those two wanna be rock & roll teams." Joe: "First off, it was through very questionable means that you defeated the Nightmares and those so called 'wanna be' teams are two of the top tag teams in the UWF today." Grappler: "Listen fat man….we've beaten the Nightmares until it's starting to bore us….as for the Midnight Rockers….we've beaten them before…..Rock & Roll Express? We've beaten them two so tomorrow night this should be a cake walk for the Grapplers and then we will go on to claim what's rightfully ours…the Continental Tag Team Titles….you know why Pedicino?" Joe: "No, enlighten me…." Grappler: "Because when you are the greatest tag team in professional wrestling……they don't just call you a great team……they call you, The Grapplers…..Nightmares, Rock & Roll Express, Midnight Rockers……Beat us…..if you can!" ========================================================= (As the Grapplers and Woman are leaving "Superstar" Bill Dundee comes storming out) Joe: "Bill, we don't have you scheduled out here today." Bill: "I don't care about schedules…you care tell me what in the hell is going on around here?" Joe: "What do you mean?" Bill: "I mean the fact that Shane Douglas is defending MY U.S. Jr title against Scott Armstrong tomorrow in Huntsville and I'm not even on the card!?!?" Joe: "I don't book the cards sir, I can't help you with that!" Bill: "Then get somebody out here who can because this isn't happening, I deserve a rematch!" (UWF Rep. Buddy Wayne comes out) Buddy: "Bill, you received your rematch last Monday night in Birmingham and you got yourself disqualified, Scott Armstrong is a former champion and he's next in line to get a shot." Bill: "That's crap and you know it, I'll tell you what….get Scott Armstrong out here right now, let's have a match and the winner faces Douglas tomorrow at the Rumble." Buddy: "Bill, it's already signed….if you want a rematch then earn it." Bill: "How in the hell am I supposed to earn a shot when I'm not even on the stinking card?? You are protecting Douglas and you always favor the Armstrongs, that's why Scott is getting the shot…..I'm surprised your boy Kenny Wayne isn't the one wrestling Dusty Rhodes tomorrow now since you are so biased around here!" (Scott Armstrong comes out) Scott: "Listen Dundee, I'll take you on right now, I don't need a favor from anybody…the only reason you ever won the title from is because you're a cheater….but if you wanna go….you and me right now, winner gets the shot tomorrow." Bill: "Done…let's do it!" (climbs into the ring) Buddy: "Scott, if that's what you want….go for it." ================================================ MATCH #3 Scott Armstrong pinned "Superstar" Bill Dundee when Shane Douglas came to ringside and tossed his t-shirt into Dundee's face again allowing Scott to school boy him for the 1-2-3!! ================================================= COMMERCIAL ================================================= (VTR- We see the inside of a gym, the camera zooms in on Austin Idol working out with the Johnny Rougeau Memorial Cup on a pedestal in front of him with Dusty Rhodes' picture attached to it that he's staring at as he lifts, the camera pans over to Ted Arcidi cheering him on, the camera pulls back out to Freddie Blassie with a microphone) Blassie: "Bruiser Brody, I guess you are real proud of yourself for what you pulled last Monday night…well you know what…I want to thank you for that because right now the Continental title was just a distraction for Austin Idol….right now he's focusing on something bigger, the UWF World Heavyweight title. Make no mistake Brody, we'll circle back to you and you will pay for what you did. Right now, all of our focus and energy is on Dusty Rhodes and that World Heavyweight title….once Idol beats Dusty Rhodes and becomes the World Heavyweight Champion, the UWF can take it's spot as the greatest wrestling organization in the world because all the other champions pale in comparison to the Universal Heartthrob. Hulk Hogan on his best day, couldn't compete with Austin Idol. Ric Flair's figure four is a JOKE compared to the 'Las Vegas Leglock' and Paul Orndorff will NEVER be as Wonderful, as that man…Austin Idol. Tomorrow night at the Rocket City Rumble, professional wrestling as you know it will be forever changed and 'The Idol ERA' officially begins!" (END VTR) ================================================= Gordon: "Very strong words from 'Classy' Freddie Blassie." Joe: "Strong words indeed, however can you imagine if Idol does manage to win the World title tomorrow night what next week's show will be like?" Gordon: "We'll be in for a long evening, no doubt about that. Right now, we're almost ready for our main event…but before we do, let's welcome out our guest commentator for this match, David Sammartino." David: "Thank you for letting me join you guys out here for what should be a really intense match but hopefully not like what we saw last week with Austin Idol and Jerry Lawler." Gordon: "No let's hope not, we understand the King suffered an injury during that match and we won't be seeing him here in the Continental area again anytime soon." ================================================== MAIN EVENT Grudge Match "Tennessee Stud" Ron Fuller fought to a 'no contest' with The Missing Link w/Tojo when Killer Khan & the Great Kabuki hit the ring which prompted Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden to hit the ring and the show went off the air with all six men brawling Gordon: "Fans, this is completely out of hand….join in Huntsville tomorrow night for Rocket City Rumble and Monday night at the Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham!" © 1985 Continental Championship Wrestling/Universal Wrestling Federation

  17. Great card mixing stars from all across the NWA. I think Manny vs. Dory would have been the one that sold me my ticket, although I'm always a fan of Barry Windham as well
  18. I'm really digging the Heartbreakers team...good stuff. Jr title tournament looks awesome, should be a great attention grabber for SMW. The RPMs will benefit greatly from this run with Ricky an Robert.
  19. Really enjoying the TN vs. TX war here. I think Parsons is a great choice to take the TV title, he's always been over in Texas and deserves to be featured.
  20. Great stuff as always, Ive always liked the Moondogs, I enjoy seeing them here.
  21. Loaded card...Jumbo vs. Brody and Tenyru vs. Hansen are huge draws here. The card for the 29th looks amazing, can't wait to see how that one plays out.
  22. Great card from top to bottom. I love seeing Orndorff as champ.
  23. I agree, this is probably how I should handle the CCW house shows as well...much more realistic than different cards each night of a loop. Great cards here.
  24. Thanks for the feedback Jack! Great to hear from you! You're right...we go back a long way on these leagues...I can't stay away, I really enjoy it, finally got things where i need them with work and such and plan on seeing CCW through for as long as the whole project holds out which with the great group of guys we've got here, seems to be for a long time to come!
  25. Some much awesome stuff going on. Cornette and Midnight Express are going to be fun to watch especially with JC's interactions with Baby Doll. I love the odd pairing of JYD and Benoit which really works and puts the rub on young Benoit with the emense popularity of JYD. I've always been a huge fan of Jonathan Boyd, I dig the pairing of Boyd and Morgan as the Sheepherders as well or more so than Butch and Luke. Freebirds vs. Rat Pack has all sorts of potential, enjoying it so far.
