Big Time Wrestling (Texas) 1981 (updated with results from 3/15 - 3/21)

Interesting! And yet, many consider David to have been the best out of the Von Erichs, which of course, we never had the opportunity to find out because of his tragic passing. -
OK, that's possible, I might be mixing two things here but that's about the same timeframe.

Just check their wiki and go along with this if you wanna stay as close as possible to the real thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Class_Championship_Wrestling#Championships -
Yeah, both of that was covered in Shawn Michaels' DVD released a couple of years ago. Triple H always was the designated driver after the shows when the Kliq went to parties. Triple H also mentioned a specific incident about Shawn (I believe it took place on the same night Vince announced he bought WCW) where Shawn had a huge meltdown in front of the whole locker room and they didn't speak for about a year, which coincided with when Shawn became a born-again Christian.

Man, there are some solid cards on that loop. Kerry Von Erich & Bruiser Brody as Texas Tag Champs will be very tough to beat! -
Yeah, that's true. In the late 70s I believe when he worked in Georgia

Dino Bravo was megaover in the Montreal territory back then. He and Rick Martel were the two biggest babyfaces (although Bravo would be heel whenever he wrestled Martel in Quebec City because of the Montreal vs Quebec City rivalry). What killed Bravo in my opinion in WWE was the powerlifting contest they did at the 1988 Royal Rumble where the segment went horribly awry. That killed the heat he had in the US. But in Quebec, not even Hogan could be as over as Dino was.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if live crowds are a regular thing after Mania. I think the only reason they're doing is because it's Wrestlemania. Obviously, I'm sure they can't wait to get live crowds on a regular basis again but I don't think Vince will be in any hurry to go back to live crowds until a) he can safely bring them back regularly and b) WWE can be assured of securing enough venues on a live touring schedule. Maybe a compromise would be to try with Full Sail at first? See how many fans they can bring back safely and then grow from there?

It's funny that you say that because I was looking back at the promo Edge cut the night after Royal Rumble when he confronted Drew and he pretty much called him a mark without doing so directly. I'm wondering if this isn't as much a Mania program setup for Drew as it is a message that Vince sent to Drew about getting that edge (no pun intended) back that lead to that badass build after he won the Rumble last year. I'm also glad I'm not the only one thinking that about the brand split either. Said it from the very beginning; as noble their intentions were when it came to use more talents and everything, the reality is that it failed on so many levels. Not because they don't have the talent to make it work but because Vince, Bruce & the gang in creative are too lazy & too complacent to show the patience needed to create the stars the product needs.

Lee's actually injured, I believe.
-
Apparently, there's a Battle Royal scheduled for the Kickoff Show to replace Keith Lee in the US title match. WWE also deleted everything in regards to Asuka vs Lacey so this ain't happening either.
-
If it wasn't for the stipulation that the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match only included WWE champions in it, I would've bet on Ali attacking Kofi and taking his place inside the Chamber; bringing things full circle to how KofiMania all began.
-
It would be weird because the way they built that whole segment on NXT Wednesday, it really felt like they're in the process of turning Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez babyfaces, especially with their reactions to winning the first Women's Dusty Classic. I just feel like it would be counterproductive to bring up and build the past history between Dakota & Shayna like they did Wednesday only for "sike!" and book them against Bianca & Sasha.

Honestly, any of those 8 men would be worthy of being US Heavyweight Champion but man, it's really intriguing to see Dick Slater in this favorite position. You're doing a great job so far of making Dirty Dick a massive threat in Mid-Atlantic!
-
Never underestimate a wily veteran like The Big Cat. Having the Wild Samoans by his side makes him the most dangerous man in Mid-South at the moment. Grappler vs Mr Wrestling II on March 27th should be one helluva match

I don't know why but I got a feeling that Carl Fergie might regret signing that contract.

Holy smokes, real footage of Bota the Witch Doctor! Had only heard from him, never seen anything!

Random.org is such a wonderful tool for stuff like that. I use this all the time too when I do tournaments myself.

Looks like Karachi Vice's plan didn't go as expected with that surprise win from the Central States Tag champs! Bruise Brothers are on a roll right now!

Bret was already a firmly established star in Stampede by that point as he had debuted in 1976 and won his first title in 1978 as the British Commonwealth Mid-Heavyweight Champion (he even briefly held the tag titles in Puerto Rico with his brother Smith in 1978 too). Of course, as you said, it's not the Bret that we saw 5 years later in the WWF but he still was without a doubt the top babyface in the area. The "Stu protecting Bret" thing isn't really different from what Fritz did with his boys all the time in Dallas. I don't necessarily intend to have Stu wrestle in any way, shape or form but I just wanted to establish the notion that Stu is the sheriff running Stampede and he won't let Percival Pringle III try to run roughshod in the territory under his watch. As for the more detailed writeups, it's something that I try to save for more special occasions like major supercards because as I always said, I've always thought that not one reader imagine the matches going the exact same way in their mind so just going for the results and finish allow them to picture them the way they want to. But that's a duly noted point that I'll try to adjust for the TVs going forward. Still working on tweaking the right format for my TVs but house shows will always be results and some highlights if there are specific angles happening there.
-
No worries about the formatting, though. It's always a work in progress at first and a trial and error thing until you figure out the exact right format for you. As for that 2nd show, man, you really got me as I thought for sure that Ole & Gene Anderson would go way farther in the tournament than they did but I don't know the exact bracket so I would assume you were trying to avoid a confrontation between the Andersons and Flair & Valentine. With that said, you can't go wrong with a finals between the Freebirds and Flair/Valentine, especially in the Atlanta area. And I don't think that either option is a bad one for your first champs!

TV TAPING #1 Calgary, AB Airing February 20th, 1981 Ed Whalen welcomes the viewers to this edition of Stampede Wrestling and Stu Hart is standing next to Whalen with the North American Heavyweight & International Tag Team Championship. Stu Hart says he's very much looking forward to crown new champions very soon as he hopes his son Bret can win the North American title but he's also hopeful to crown tag team champions that fans can be proud of. Stu is immediately interrupted by Percival Pringle III along with the Memphis Express, all 3 members of them. Pringle tells Stu that if he thinks Bret is winning the North American title, he's dreaming because that title belongs to his assassin, The Great Kabuki. But he wants the same thing for the International Tag Team Championship and it doesn't matter who Stu wants as the champs because that title belongs to them. As a matter of fact, Pringle demands for Wayne Farris & Dream Machine to be awarded the championship immediately, which Stu refuses to do. In that case, Percival Pringle says he must use the brute force available to him. Pringle sends Plowboy after Stu but Stu clocks Plowboy with a right hand, which surprises the Memphis Express' muscle. Stu says he's not gonna let anyone force his hand. He'll make sure to punish Percival & Plowboy next week Match #1 El Monarca beat "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers (w/Dutch Mantell) at the 24-minute mark with a crucifix pin. After the match, the Kansas Jayhawks attack Monarca and Mantell grabs the timekeeper's table. They set up the table and ties Monarca on it with their rope. As Jaggers is about to jump from the middle rope on Monarca, Shogun (aka Prof Toru Tanaka & Samson Fuyuki) make the save and chase off the Jayhawks. Match #2 Dean Ho beat Bob Boyer in 17:11 As the show is about to go off the air, Stu Hart comes back to join Ed Whalen at the broadcast booth to announce that following the incident in the opening match, Stu has booked a match between "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers and Samson Fuyuki of Shogun and this will be contested under Falls Count Anywhere Rules! Ed Whalen also plugs next week's match between Bret Hart and Dos Caras as well as The Fantastic Ones in tag team action! Airing February 27th, 1981 Just like the previous week, Ed Whalen opens the show with Stu Hart, although this time, they're discussing what happened last week when Percival Pringle III and the Memphis Express tried to bully Stu into awarding them the International Tag Team Championship right away. Stu said he'd be dealing with Percival Pringle and Plowboy and that's what he intends to do. Stu announces that there will be a tag team tournament in the month of March to crown the first International Tag Team Champions and he first had thought of straight up banning the Memphis Express from it. Stu doesn't even have time to finish his sentence that Pringle blows a gasket. Stu says he won't do it because Farris & Dream Machine didn't do anything last week; however, Pringle & Plowboy did. Therefore, Stu announces that Percival Pringle III will be banned from any match involving The Memphis Express and same goes to Plowboy Frazier too until further notice. If Pringle tries anything to go around that ruling, Stu will have Pringle's managerial license revoked in Canada! Pringle is now on his knees, begging for Stu to reconsider but Stu wants none of it! Plowboy finally picks up Pringle and they leave, Plowboy Frazier throwing daggers at Stu! Match #1 Falls Count Anywhere "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers beat Samson Fuyuki in 8:15 after interference from Dutch Mantell, choking out Fuyuki with his rope! Match #2 The Fantastic Ones beat Jim Wilson & Dean Ho in 14:26 after a Superplex/Top Rope Splash combo by Taylor & Fulton on Wilson Match #3 Rip Morgan beat Chief Jay Strongbow in 10:44 MAIN EVENT Match #4 Bret Hart beat Dos Caras with a small package in 31:43. After the match, Bret was confronted by Percival Pringle and The Great Kabuki from the broadcast booth but Stu was quick enough to come out and ensure that Kabuki and Pringle didn't try anything dirty. Is this a prelude to a future North American Heavyweight Championship match???

TV TAPING #7 February 6th, 1986, Centre Paul-Sauvé, Montréal Airing March 28th, 1986 International TV Championship: Tony Garea beat Miguel Perez in 8:24 to retain Spike is being interviewed at the broadcast booth by Milt Avrushin and says he's looking for an opportunity to prove his worth in Lutte Internationale and he's ready to do anything and beat anyone to make that happen. Spike is then interrupted by Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissey who tells Spike that they need to talk and he knows how he can make that happen. Milt Avrushin seems to already know where this is going and isn't shy about telling that to Adnan before he leaves with Spike Terry Daniels is next to go see Milt Avrushin to the booth and he says his situation is no different than Spike's. However, he wants to do things the right way. He's not gonna go behind people's back and take handouts from anyone. He's gonna tell someone in their face that he wants a piece of them. The crowd then erupts when they see Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon walk on the set! Milt asks Mad Dog what he's doing here and Vachon says that he plans on retiring when this year ends and he just wanted to finish things the right way; which means by going back home to Lutte. Mad Dog tells Daniels he just heard about him wanting to make a statement so he's gonna give him that opportunity in 3 weeks on this show. He wants Terry to be at his best but he also wants to be at his best because he won't get another shot at making a last good impression! Super Strong Machine (w/The Sheik) beat Phil Apollo in 24:50 Airing April 4th, 1986 Phil Apollo interrupts Milt Avrushin at his booth as he's angry about the loss he suffered to Super Strong Machine and wants a rematch. The Sheik comes out and says Super Strong Machine is moving on to bigger and better things than him so he can forget about it. Apollo tries to get at The Sheik but nails a staff member and a referee in the process. Several wrestlers from the locker room come out to help out the referees and calm down Apollo Next we see footage of what went down 2 weeks ago on TV when Jos LeDuc attacked King Kaluha and broke some of his ribs with the bearhug. King Kaluha is then invited to the desk and Kaluha says he's not feeling too good right now but that's not gonna stop him from getting his hands on LeDuc. Kaluha is interrupted by Frank Valois, who says he cannot in good conscience, sanction a match between LeDuc and Kaluha in the physical condition Kaluha is in. Kaluha says he doesn't care and needs that match; he doesn't even want Valois to sanction the match; he just wants to beat LeDuc to a bloody pulp, period. Valois says in this case, he can come to his office on Monday morning and sign a waiver that will ensure that should anything happens to him, he won't sue the promotion. Kaluha accepts. The Apostles of Chaos (Tarzan Goto & Mr. Ito) beat Ron Harris & Sunny War Cloud in 6:46 when Goto pinned War Cloud The rest of the episode featured 3 matches from previous live events: Debbie Combs vs KC Houston from the 2/1 house show in Clinton and Chavo Guerrero vs Akira Maeda and Bill Kazmaier vs Baron Von Raschke from 1/23 in Guelph, ON
