Once they got done with the grapplefucking, yes. It was good. Which is WILD and just another evidence that using steroids is Actually Good. -

It's settled. Finn vs Roman for the main event for the Universal Title. Crazy concept, defending your main title on live TV. And we get Corbin vs Lashley right now. Sounds like an odd pairing. -

Are you kidding, brother? Like Finn/Roman or even Drew/Roman wouldn't be a bomb-ass program. Or even vs Lashley. Come on, if there is someone on RAW right now who has the biggest number of possibilities as the top champion, that is Roman. -
In-ring ability vs Charisma and Historical Importance
KawadaSmile replied to AndreasL's topic in Pro Wrestling
Welcome, Andreas. This is actually a real nice discussion topic, even moreso considering that for a while, we managed to have certain wrestlers who absolutely dominate both categories you've mentioned - Daniel Bryan being the most shining example. I think that connection to the crowd is the #1 skill one could have, and that usually leads us to a bigger historical importance, on a broader sense. Of course, one could be charismatic AND have great in-ring skills, but I doubt that DB would get to that Wrestlemania 30 moment based on in-ring skills alone. In fact, I believe that his amazing underdog story had less to do with him being a superb technical wrestler, and more with the connection he had established with the crowd. Bryan and Miz just had a match yesterday that probably is the perfect mix of modern in-ring work and heavy story-telling, paired with an actual significant historical importance. Loss adressed this in his amazing review of the match of how it referenced old-school feuds and key moments in the business. It might be too early to say, but I believe that this feud will be remembered in 20 years as something huge, much like Bret/Austin or Hogan/Andre. -
This week's edition of Raw and Smackdown sound like can't miss TV. Finally getting Roman as the champ, Ronda getting her victory lap, Becky addressing her turning on Charlotte, Miz gloating, Seth's the champ again... Great times are coming, lads.

WWE SUMMERSLAM 2018 THE BIGGEST PARTY OF THE SUMMER
KawadaSmile replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Heyman's track record is 3-2. Was good with Brock, Punk and Big Show, but bad with Axel and Cesaro. Could see him do fine with Lashley, though. Not sure if Drew needs him as a mouthpiece, but could work fine, too. -
This was a blast. Braun appearing and claiming that he would actually cash-in after this match was a nice touch, as the crowd knew something would be different this time. They wasted no time, bringing kill shots right from the get-go. Roman's initial flurry and Lesnar's front facelock were amazing, and I almost believed Roman was gonna tap. Lesnar taking Strowman out of the equation was smart on his part and also addressed their previous rivalry, and it was also the opening Roman needed to get the win and finally slay the beast. His celebration felt sincere and him taunting Heyman was incredible. Great stuff. It just opens up so many possibilities now that we have a full time champ. Braun still has the contract, so there's still time. 2019 might be it.

[2018-08-19-WWE-SummerSlam] Daniel Bryan vs The Miz
KawadaSmile replied to SmartMark15's topic in August 2018
This was a joy to watch. Felt like an old-school type of match, with the emphasis of how Bryan just wanted to punch Miz in the face, and the invisible object finish. Miz took a beating. No one can say he's soft anymore, nor that he can't wrestle, pulling those Nigel lariats and Romero Specials. Also he might be the only living person in current wrestling who applies the figure four correctly. Shame that the crowd isn't conditioned to this type of match, as they were dead for most of it besides kickouts and signature spots, because it is very close to a timeless classic. to me.- 7 replies

I think I actually hated this, which is absurd. Black getting injured really threw a wrench into what could actually be something special, instead we got a souless, bland, bootleg version of what made the first two matches good. Spots designed to get the crowd got mild reactions. Finishers used three times in a row to little fanfare and little payoff, and the final spot was ridiculous and cements Gargano (with his awful, awful darkside version of his attire) as this major idiot. The fact that he legit fucked his knee makes it even worse. One of the worst Takeover matches in forever.

WWE SUMMERSLAM 2018 THE BIGGEST PARTY OF THE SUMMER

Becky was a great heel on the indies, based on all accounts. She should be fine playing her role, but good luck trying to get Charlotte to be cheered over her. -

But the crowd also didn't buy huge portions of AJ/Joe and Miz/Bryan. Carmella is doing her part and she clearly puts effort in it, but the crowd was exceptionally weird, if not downright bad - which is not her fault. They seemed to be 100% tireless during the main event, though. -

Thanks, my dude. She was easily the best part about that very good match, but won't get anywhere near her dues. -
Fun opener, as 3 of the 4 wrestlers involved are usually amazing and Seven can be good sometimes. However, horrendous finish. Kicking out of a burning hammer/stomp combo would be bad enough by itself, but the person who kicked out actually got the pin less than 30 seconds after the fact. Ridiculous.

Finally am watching the Takeover. Sorry, but kicking out of a Burning Hammer/Diving Double Stomp combo should not be a thing. Specially when the person who kicked out gets the pin 30 seconds after. Good match, but ridiculous finish.

WWE SUMMERSLAM 2018 THE BIGGEST PARTY OF THE SUMMER
KawadaSmile replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Honestly, them just flat out squashing Brock at this point would be also major bullshit considering the length of the title reign and the absurdity of the WM34/GRR matches. This was a fun sprint that actually addressed Braun/Brock (the last time they fought each other Kane was the one to get pinned and Braun actually was having the upper hand), finally got over all the Brock bullshit and it seems they are finally going to give Roman the run he should've gotten 3 years ago. -
