Yes to all of the above at least as far as DoN was concerned. Free kits were distributed to anyone who asked and there were safe rooms as well. I am assuming this continued for the other shows but I've seen no reporting on that front. A post on r/SC definitely confirmed it for DoN though.

The Miz went from an unbearable midcard heel who was pretty much dead in the water with a meaningless IC Title run into a top of the line heel draw in the course of a single promo.

This plus the promo you posted makes me think Daniel is the mastermind but that Rowan is not the driver. -
Ospreay had KENTA's best match of the tourney tonight and really kind of outclassed him just from the simple standpoint of execution alone. KENTA's been blowing his signature spots for years now and it does a lot to wreck his image.

I went with: Flair > Bret (close though) Kawada > Okada Misawa = Kobashi Bryan > Jumbo Tanahashi > Taue (close though)

My problem with SANADA is that he adds very little to the Okada formula. He plugs into it a little too well that the flaws of that style get accentuated like the slow start and not-super-great looking offense.

The kayfabe of Tully actually READING THE DAMN CONTRACT brings me so much joy.

Was just thinking that the Okada match followed the big WWE babyface formula to a tee and was pretty great for it!

[2019-07-28-Beyond-Americanrana 19] Daisuke Sekimoto vs Chris Dickinson
SmartMark15 replied to Jmare007's topic in July 2019
Gave me Joe-Kobashi vibes with how they centered everything around very simple, very meaningful offense that all looked great. Those chops sending the sweat flying were insane and this felt like a real big deal despite me knowing little about Sekimoto and nothing about Dickinson. Awesome match with a fantastic atmosphere. ****1/4 -

I know the anti-Rollins sentiment has been brewing here for a long while but the rest of the IWC are really turning on him in this last month or so. -

As someone who enjoyed the 2018 IC Title run, this was my main problem going into his Mania match. -
My thoughts on Cobb exactly. The more he's had to work longer matches with more experienced workers, the worst he looks honestly.

I am convinced that Bryan was responsible for that pop in ratings last week as well as of course the intrigue about Bischoff supposedly starting on the show. But I'm a Bryan mark so don't take my word for it. -

Of course there's no follow through on Bryan. Sigh. -
How much wrestling was on TV when *you* were a kid?
SmartMark15 replied to sek69's topic in Pro Wrestling
Started watching as a kid in 2006 here in the Philippines where WWE TV was primarily featured at the time on a channel called Jack TV. They had the PPVs on there for free as well. In 2007, they started instead airing the big 4 PPVs in local cinemas and I have great memories of seeing the major PPVs in theaters with friends. WWE TV would switch channels every other year or so and I lost cable in mid-2007. Before that though, I know that we also got Impact and Xplosion over on Star World which was my early introduction to guys like Abyss and Samoa Joe. -
Dunno how updated you are on the G1 but there's no real justification for Okada-Ospreay especially since they're stablemates.

With ZSJ eating the pin against Tanahashi, I find it likely that the RevPro Title will main event with these two competing for it.
-
A perfect TV-style main event match. Provided atmosphere by the guest ring announcer and then given a concise layout and tight match time. Immediate urgency with the heel antics of the referee and just enough high spots in the crowd bump, suicide dive, and the 450. Follow it up with a hot angle to lead into a hot story, and this is a good example of booking a main event to create interest in future shows. ***3/4

I also really loved the main event even after sitting through the whole show. Too long, yes? But it was awesome.

Yes. Ishii getting right up in Moxley's grill to start gave this a big fight feel that separated it from other G1 matches. They don't waste any time at all in this match, filling with all the fun stuff you want out of these two. You get the wild crowd brawling, you get the fun Ishii no-sells, you get the strike exchanges, you get the plunder baybay, and also ISHII COMING OFF THE TOP THROUGH A TABLE. WHAT DID I JUST SEE? Both guys were clearly fired up getting to work this match and that energy and passion shows. Easily Moxley's best match since leaving the WWE and also the best match of the G1 so far. A wild brawl filled with fantastic moments all throughout. ****1/2

Loved this match. Both men came in hurt and both viciously attacked the wounded body parts of the other. Ospreay's initial attack on Ibushi's leg in particular is some gnarly stuff. There's a brutal looking spot where he steps on Ibushi's toes and then just stomps on his ankle. Nasty. Of course, we all know Ibushi is a master of dropping people on their necks and boy did he make Ospreay bump for him in this match. Loved all the callbacks to their WK match with Ibushi countering the Hidden Blade but also being completely rocked by it in the finishing stretch. Thought that Ibushi's sustained selling after the Hidden Blade was some of the best from him that I've ever seen. Loved Ospreay not being able to complete his super cool land on his feet spot and instead struggling from his damaged neck. An important aspect of this match: it completely flew by. So rare for a New Japan main event but those first twenty minutes completely breezed by. This was just awesome, everything I wanted from both these guys in a match of this setting. ****1/2

Shawn Spears' new manager is none other than Tully Blanchard. I'm certainly not mad about it.
