Naito did say he wanted revenge, so hopefully that's the next event with Naito winning, and hopefully it's only for the hw title
-
The main event was better than the Naito and Okada matches but man, I thought Hiromu of all people would be able to reign in EVIL and go shorter than 30 minutes but apparently not. Guess we just have to accept that main events aren't getting shorter any time soon. Shingo vs Despy was MOTN and Okada vs Yujiro was a match that happened.

Ryan Ward was head booker during the early SDLive days (the best part) but I'm not sure when Road Dogg took over. I want to say after Mania 33.

Is Claudio Castagnoli/Antonio Cesaro the best tag worker of this century?
kas replied to KawadaSmile's topic in Pro Wrestling
This century also includes Alex Shelley who excelled in both MCMG and Timesplitters -
The WWE 2k games have insane customisation, but terrible gameplay and lack depth when it comes to booking and storylines. Fire Pro wrestling has a good level of customisation and good gameplay, not sure how good the promoter mode is cause it costs extra to buy and I haven't got round to getting it. Total Extreme Wrestling doesn't show the wrestling but has the most depth when it comes to booking and has a good amount of mods.

That image cannot be real. You cannot convince me that was the actual final image of the match.

AEW really are doing a tremendous job right now. There's a clear investment in the future, with Darby Allin, MJF, and Hangman Page being featured regularly and treated like a big deal, and Moxley is having the type of championship reign that he should have been given by WWE years ago.
-
Possibly both. Moxley has consistently been their rating mover since the beginning, to the point where I'm pretty sure every one of his segments on Dynamite has the highest ratings on the show.

Call me unobservant but I didn't really notice Naito looking worse for wear. Sure he was a little slow, but I feel he's been steadily slowing down since about 2017. I agree on Taichi, he's stepped up in a big way and really found his feet in the HW division.

The return of crowds should be interesting, whenever that happens (hopefully a long time from now). History has shown that once people leave it's hard to get them to come back, but while there's no doubt the pandemic has accelerated the downward trend, it'll be interesting to see just how many will have given up on WWE completely, and how many just dislike the empty arena setting.

This was apparently said in WON 8 months ago

Also could be a way to separate the Heavyweight and IC titles

Shingo would have been AMAZING. Go full dick heel like his best Dragon Gate days.
-
They probably went with EVIL cause they feel like they need to create a new young main eventer, but SANADA is right there man. How much better would it have been if SANADA was in this role? SANADA finally beats Okada in a meaningful match and goes on to be double champ. I say all this as a fan of EVIL's, he is not ready for the main event.
-
Naito must suffer. Can't believe he's never had a proper iwgp reign. EDIT: Letting the initial shock wear off, I thought the main event was decent, better than the Okada match. Both matches desperately needed a proper crowd to react to everything going on. Shingo vs SHO was a banger as expected, and the tag match was MOTN, great to see it get so much time. That ending where they just destroy Tanahashi was amazing. Good show overall.
-
EVIL just cannot go long. He's at his best going short and fast, something their G1 matches absolutely nail. And yeah Okada needs to get better at it or drop it. Red Ink is a much better-looking submission.
-
Okada vs EVIL wasn't bad, but far and away their worst match together. These two work so much better together in the G1. The BC run-in was also really weird, unless it's going to lead to something bigger. EDIT: Literally five minutes later. I should be more patient.

Not only are they three of the best in the world, but they also wrestle completely different styles as well.

GME Project: Greatest Match Ever 2020 Ballot
kas replied to Microstatistics's topic in Pro Wrestling
This is an excellent project with a lot of representation of any style you could think of. It's definitely helped me find some of my favourite matches of all time. -
Shingo vs SHO was great, not quite on the level of their BOSJ match from last year, but their NEVER match should be fireworks.
-
Yeah, Gedo has earned my trust at this point with how Jay White and Okada were almost instantly rehabilitated after slow starts so I am definitely willing to give it a chance. And yeah, Okada has been disappointing this tournament, especially the Nagata match. His matches with the New Japan oldies are some of the more underrated in recent years so I was so hyped for it, but he was so dull. Thankfully he was great against Hiromu.

Really hoping for some kind of swerve. He was really promising as a Young Lion but apparently floundered in Mexico. Being punked by DOUKI of all people is not a good sign.
