Pantera's towel trick gets found out. Brawny Boys will be back. Akbar's repeated interference backfires. Vin Man & Vinergy are left in a heap. Yeah! Gotta say, Adias put up more of a fight then I was expecting.
-
Karachi Vice still have their sights set on the Union Jacks. Rose Cousins with the dirty win. Fujinami vs Hogan for the World title? Can't wait for The Happening!
-
Hall is truly the ace of the Brigade. The Southern Boys clearly approve of the Blonde's new rough edge. Dragon roasts the Leprechaun. Rose with another tough loss. Pillman fires back at Adams. Scotty keeps the party going.

Victoria. The Tournament of Lions is back and off to a great, if slightly bumpy start. Big Dutch laying down the law! Suspending the champion is sure to send a message to everyone! Can't overlook the return of the Last Chance Saloon. Iron & Steel are after SinMin's money. Austin & Hart immediately put Dutch's edict to the test. Vancouver. Mike is truly looking Awesome. Lee grows ever distant from the Brigade. Severn & Tenryu are getting quite friendly with each other. Hart & Austin are definitely pushing Dutch's buttons. Hashimoto fends off the Lover boy.

The tension is actually with Race, Orton was used as a contrast.
-
Bit of a rough night for the home team but I'm sure that just made the crowd go nuts when Karelin got it done in the main event. The Terror Collective goes international! Solid bracket for the big tournament.
-
Controversial call by President Tunney to start us off. Gotta give Hart credit, I would have thought he'd pick a side by now but he's determined to make it work. Between Dusty, Andre, Savage and the Warrior, Rude has some tough competition ahead. What are you up to Jake? Martel throwing out the open challenge! The Rougeau Brothers have new belts, a seeming new manager in Jimmy Hart..... and maybe even a new friend in Jack Tunney!

1989 Starrcade Series week 2 results. "Handsome" Harley Race w/JJ Dillon defeats "Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant with a Piledriver. Interestingly, whereas he was instrumental in Orton's victory last week, Dillon never moved to help Race even when Valiant held the advantage. "Rugged" Ron Garvin defeats The "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff w/ "Number One" Paul Jones after ducking under the "Russian Sickle" and hitting the "Hand of Stone" punch. "The Walking Condominium" King Kong Bundy w/"Number One Paul Jones defeats "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez after a distraction from Jones lead to the "Avalanche". Starrcade Series Leaderboard. Block A 2 pts: Big John Studd, Bob Orton & Tom Prichard 0 pts: Dynamite Kid, The Super Destroyer & Wahoo McDaniel Block B 2 pts: Harley Race, King Kong Bundy & Ron Garvin 0 pts: Ivan Koloff, Jimmy Valiant & Manny Fernandez Next week's matches. Haku's reign continues as the Hart Foundation prove their loyalty. I think we all knew the Steiner's were taking the straps but still, a big moment. Martel "retains" his title. Bossman takes the pin then Slick and co give him the boot. Davey Boy wins the battle of the strongmen. Mutant is becoming a star. Andre with the crowd pleasing win. The Rockers have done it! Great ending to the War Zone as Savage comes off the top of the cage with the elbow!

Fixed.

Adams gets one up on Pillman. 3-0 for the Terror Collective. Hall & Awesome gets out of control. The Southern Boys take their loss surprisingly well. Cactus is on everyone's hit list it seems. Blackman & Chono calm down a bit but still want a piece of each other. The fighting Irishman has some gold to go with his leprechaun. TC with a clean sweep! Regal gets his belt back and Austin throws a fit. The Phoenix has risen to the top. The main event goes so batshit crazy the boss has to throw it out! What an ending!
-
A win by Azul gets the crowd warmed up. The Juice Crew build momentum for the Jackal. Dr Death puts Payne down. Snowfront win but things get crazy. Poor Severn must be so frustrated. Camp Cornette prevails but has Douglas gotten through to Busick? Gordy makes it 2-0 for the Collective. Scotty the Body gets his first singles gold. The Golden State Tag titles match ends in chaos. Hashimoto's friends run interference allowing him to capture the TV title. I gotta feeling Rose is going to have something to say to Scotty and Tina about hitting the club early.
-
Loved all the promos from all the wrestlers entering the War Zone. Everyone was in character, even Warrior. Valentine gets the win but I'm betting Hart isn't too happy about it. The main event sounds like it would have been right up my alley.
-
Perez & Burke both get back on track. The Parliament is in session. The Fantastics aren't sweating Vinergy. A Moondogs match gets out of control? Preposterous! Totally unrealistic /s. Huber with a good showing. Damn it! Should've known we couldn't trust Dream Machine. Taylor cheats his way to another victory. Adias certainly is confident, I'll give him that. Nothing like a good brawl to send us off the air.

Looks like a card worth waiting for.

This Firestorm is gonna burn Phoenix to the ground!

1989 Starrcade Series week 1 results. Big John Studd w/"The Perfect 10 Baby Doll defeats The Dynamite Kid. DK put up quite the fight but the size difference was too much and he fell to a powerslam. "The Ace" Bob Orton w/JJ Dillon defeats "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel with a shot from Dillon's shoe. "The Doctor of Desire Tom Prichard defeat The Super Destroyer w/"Number One Paul Jones with a Superkick. Starrcade Series Leaderboard. Block A 2 pts: Big John Studd, Bob Orton & Tom Prichard 0 pts: Dynamite Kid, The Super Destroyer & Wahoo McDaniel Next week's matches. LA. Dibiase shows why he's the leader of the TC. Phoenix Rising are taking off. Okay that "French whorn" line cracked me up be holy shit that promo would not age well. Pillman steps up in the six man and Adams is not happy. Iron & Steel have to be in title contention. Hashimoto takes down Rose's top lieutenant. LA night 2. Lee seems displeased by the progress in the war against the TC. Hall continues to roll. Awesome randomly decides to try to kill Cactus. Starr faces a pissed off Texan. It doesn't end well. Snow nearly takes advantage of a distracted Austin. Awakening the Dragons wrath could prove to be the worst mistake the Ministry ever made. Santa Barbara. Blackman & Chono continues to heat up....somehow. Finlay & Gunn with solid showings. Severn & Tenryu try to show their students how it's done. Cornete's fixation on Hayes may have cost his team. Candido gets a little dirty but it's not enough to pry the title off the Iceman.

The Renegade Warriors are on the warpath. Larry Z storms the ring to beat down Bruno's boy. The R n R are ready for the Moondogs. The Olympians are as cocky as ever. Things remain unsettled between Armstrong and Idol as their friends get involved. Honestly can't blame Akbar for being confident. Vinergy makes a statement at Oliver's expense. Muraco defends Graham's honor. Adias doesn't know what he's done.
-
Heenan and Fuji trading tag teams actually makes a lot of sense when I picture the new lineups in my head. Bravo and Valentine look to settle things next week. Wonder how Hart feels about that? Low-key love how the King's Court match is just a lumberjack match with a different coat of paint.
-
I gotta feeling that Rose is in for it now. Imagine the chaos if the Jackal becomes champion.
-
Oakland. Busick has become a truly terrifying presence. Lee tries to correct coarse. Mitchell renames the Wild Things after himself. Classic. Regal should probably give Austin & Hart their space. The Brigade with a win over the collective's Jr members. The Midnight's may have had some rough luck lately but they win where it counts. Severn & Tenryu are struggling to control their students. Williams has Rhodes' number without a doubt. Pillman wins the latest chapter with Scotty. The Dragon makes a dramatic return. The Can-Am's and Rose hang on. Fresno. Iron & Steel make waves by beating former champs. Busick really isn't a team player is he? Hall v Awesome was too much to handle. Bigelow makes Starr fall. It's safe to say Douglas has found a friend. Malenko retains in another barnburner.

The National Wrestling Alliance proudly presents Bash at the Beach 1989. Trask Coliseum, Wilmington NC August 10 1989 Airing live on the USA Network. "Leaping" Lanny Poffo defeats "Sweet Music Man" Billy Joe Travis with the Moonsault. NWA United States Tag Team Titles. The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne)(c) defeat The Eliminators (Perry Saturn & John Kronus) w/"Number One" Paul Jones by DQ. It looked like The Eliminators had the match won when Saturn ko'd Davis with one of the title belts behind the ref's back. Ref turns around and starts counting but sees the title still in the ring and, putting two and two together, calls for the bell. Special Challenge Match. Super Strong Machine defeats Abdullah the Butcher after three consecutive "Machine" lariats managed to put the "Mad Man from the Sudan" down. (By virtue of his victory, SSM now faces Kevin Sullivan) Super Strong Machine vs Kevin Sullivan ends in a no contest when the Master Blasters ran down to bail out Sullivan. "Golden Warrior" Kevin Von Erich defeats "Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller (c) w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller when Fuller submitted to the Von Erich claw. BIg John Studd Bob Orton Jr Dynamite Kid The Super Destroyer Tom Prichard Wahoo McDaniel Block B Harley Race Ivan Koloff Jimmy Valiant King Kong Bundy Manny Fernandez Ron Garvin Main event. Ron Garvin, NWA World Tag Team champions The Road Warriors Hawk Animal & "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard defeat The Four Horsemen (NWA World Heavyweight Champion Buddy Landel, Bob Orton Jr, Harley Race & Ole Anderson) w/JJ Dillon after a miscue between Race and Anderson left Anderson in position for the Superkick.

Devastation Inc looking strong tonight. I always loved booking the Moondogs to commit televised murder and I'm glad you're doing the same. Soultaker is sent after Disalvo while Blackblood is on the hunt for gold. Vinnie wasted no time turning his team's "hard fought" victory into a title shot. Adias sacrifices his TV title to go after Hogan! The Blockbuster could make all of the headlines if he pulls this off.
