When you get around to posting my WWF roster Kev, add on Cap Lou Albano and Frenchy Martin.
-
You set the scene wonderfully. Nikita and Debeers really put a hurting on Hogan.

Good to see Bert and RPG together again. Todd Morton may have finally found a good home. Wouldn't be a Bert Prentice territory without at least one Renesto . What the hell was up with that lady? The Cubans prove why they're another Prentice mainstay.

Live from the Greensboro Coliseum on Pay Per View, the National Wrestling Alliance proudly presents pro wrestling's premier Thanksgiving tradition... NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. "Wrestling Royalty" Brian Christopher(c) w/"The Perfect 10" Baby Doll and Too Cold Scorpio wrestled to a 20 minute time limit draw. The fans wanted 5 more minutes, Scorpio readily agreed and Christopher seemed to join him but dove out of the ring just before the bell rang. Christopher and Doll grabbed the title and walked up the ramp together smiling smugly at the booing crowd. NWA World Six Man Tag Team Titles. "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley & The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzel) defeat The Paul Jones Army (The Super Destroyer, Perry Saturn & John Konus)(c) w/"Number One" Paul Jones when Blair turned a fireman's carry by Sturn into a crucifix. TITLE CHANGE!!! Russian Chain Match. If Valiant wins he gets five minutes with Paul Jones. "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant defeats "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff w/"Number One" Paul Jones with a running bulldog after wrapping the chain around Koloff's head! Jones tries to leave with his client but security all but throws him into the ring. The next five minutes sees the hated manager doing his best impersonation of a pinball as Valiant knocks him from pillar to post. Finally the period is over and security basically have to carry Jones to the back. NWA United States Tag Team Titles. Badd Company (Pat Tanaka & Paul Diamond) w/"The Perfect 10" Baby Doll defeat The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne)(c) in a match many, at the time and in the future, say stole the show. A blind tag by Diamond allows him to catch an unaware Davis with a crossbody with a handful of tights sealing the deal. TITLE CHANGE!!! NWA Heritage Championship. "Wildfire" Tommy Rich(c) and "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/Friday ends in a double DQ. Jones must've been in the trainers room as he never showed leaving poor Friday to try and reign in Kamala. Sufficed to say he wasn't up to the task tonight. NWA United States Chmapionship. "Raging Bull" Manny Ferandez defeats "Golden Warrior" Kevin Von Erich when he took advantage of a ref bump to nail Kevin with the US title. TITLE CHANGE!!! NWA World Tag Team Titles. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard defeat The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal)(c) when Brad Anderson distracted the ref allowing Ole Anderson to take out Animal with a chair leaving Hawk vulnerable to a SPike Pildriver from Arn & Tully. Whatever the situation with the rest of the Horsemen, it's clear the Anderson family is as united as ever. TITLE CHANGE!!! Special Attraction Match. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair defeats "Handsome" Harley Race with the Figure Four. Flair actually helped Race up after the match and the two longtime rivals shook hands. Main Event. NWA World Heavyweight Championship. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel(c) w/JJ Dillion vs "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard went to a 60 time limit draw. After the match, Ric Flair came down and handed Landel his title leading to a tense stare down between the two Nature Boys. Author's note: As y'all know this will be the finale of my NWA run as i'll be taking over the WWF as LowBlow moves on to WCW. It's been fun but i'm looking forward to the change of scenery. I know there really isn't a sense of finality here but I wanted to keep a lot of these guys looking strong as they're either coming with me up north or heading off to other territories after this. Hope you enjoyed the show and had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Embry continues to prove himself a fiery underdog. Medusa is a great name to introduce women's wrestling to Memphis. Keirn and Mantell take their fight to the people. Brad wins the title and exposes DWB as a fraud. Hart with an admittedly clever ruse brings the UWF tag titles to the First Family. Sarge brings in some reinforcements to win the bootcamp match. Hayes bloodies his former brother to hold onto the Southern tag titles. Double J helps Doom make Hart pay for his earlier theft. Lawler and Hennig go broadway but we still don't have a USWA champion.

Glad you're back. Kentucky is off to a wild start.

Round 1. Rich pinning Tatum is sure to keep he and cousin Davey in title contention. Price finds a clever way to screw over Grizz. I like that Hump had to calm Starr down. Precious' bodyguard goes down but Gorgeous Jimmy comes through for her. Hoss wins a sporting match with Lightfoot. Price's earlier shenanigans blow up in his face as he misses his match. Kabuki advances thanks to a helping hand from Humperdinck. Graham closes the door on DJs hope of getting a heavyweight title. The second round starts with Starr showing Rich how Rotten he can get. Kendall advances with a Gorgeous finish. Kabuki blinds Graham but costs himself. Semis. Sierra's botch knocks the House out of the tournament. Graham's misfortune is Dory's ticket to the finals. The Southern Rockers finally payback the New Breed. Hoss swerves everyone by aligning with Humperdinck. The PWF title belongs to the HoH. -
The thing is there aren't really any other ex WWE people for Nemeth to drop his title too. Meaning he's going to have to put over a TNA talent which is already better than the previous era. Also Nemeth is not responsible for AAA's hiring practices. Again this is subjective opinion. You don't find Hendry impressive. Fine but that doesn't make him bad at his job he just isn't your cup of tea. Kaz has had the trophy for a month. I know WWE has overused the "cash-in on the same night" angle in recent years but that doesn't mean other companies can't take their time. Furthermore Hendry being in the Turkey suit match is because Santino declared he has to start from the bottom which is implied to be because Nemeth used his influence as champion. That's called long term bookings not "stalling".
-
Okay a couple issues with this. You seem to think that putting titles on former WWE wrestlers is a bad move in and of itself which i feel is a bad faith argument. Nemeth is a recognizable face who can be counted on to deliver a good quality match in which he always makes his opponent look good. The Hardys are a legendary tag team who, in addition to already giving years of service to TNA, can still go in the ring and will deliver a boost of credibility to whomever takes the titles off them. As for Hendry, a significant portion of your section about him is you saying you don't get what others see in him. That's fine but it's not a real critique. You yourself even admit he is easily the most over man on the roster which justifies his prominent place on the card. As for him losing at BfG, I understand the argument for him winning but TNA are clearly committed to a longer story which, as far as I can tell, will culminate in him dethroning a heel Nemeth at Genesis which they're bringing back in January. Depending on whether they have him drop the title at next year's Slammiversary or BfG will give them between 6 and 9 months to build up a replacement. Plenty of time.

Davey Boy throws the Captain overboard. Another tense staredown between Bossman and Zeus. Impressive counter by Bravo leading to the finish. Muta & Funk are an all-star team but seeing them beat Demolition still caught me by surprise. Snuka outmaneuvers Bundy. A crazy finish sees Andre score a pin on the WWF champion. Great sell for Survivor Series.

This week's NWA TV saw the finalized card for Starrcade 89 revealed. NWA World Heavyweight Championship. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel(c) w/JJ Dillion vs "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard Special Attraction Match. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs "Handsome" Harley Race NWA World Tag Team Championship. The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal)(c) vs Arn Anderson & Tully Blachard NWA United States Championship "Golden Warrior" Kevi Von Erich vs "Raging Bull" Manny Ferandez NWA Heritage Championship. "Wildfire" Tommy Rich(c) vs "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala w/"Number One" Paul Jones NWA United States Tag Team Championship The Nightmares (Danny Davis & Ken Wayne)(c) vs Badd Company (Pat Tanaka& Paul Diamond) w/"The Perfect 10" Baby Doll Russian Chain Match. If Jimmy Valiant wins he gets 5 minutes with Paul Jones "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant vs "Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff w/"Number One" Paul Jones NWA World Six Man Tag Championship. The Paul Jones Army (The Super Destroyer, Perry Saturn & John Kronus) w/"Number One" Paul Jones vs "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley & TBA NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship "Wrestling Royalty" Brian Christopher(c) w/"The "Perfect 10" Baby Doll vs Too Cold Scorpio

Take your time man, everything looks good.

Jimmy Hart is a far braver man than I ever gave him credit for, mouthing off to both Butch Reed and Ron Simmons. Even with Honky and the Hammer backing him up. Rogers should have quit while he was ahead. Looks like Brad found a way to fight DWB on even footing. The Freebirds get past Lost Guerreros and can now give the Stud Stable their full attention. The King emerges from a chaotic scene with his title shot intact. Double J pulls a fast one on the Mouth of the South. WrestleWar is loaded up!

Victoria. Dutch starts the show with some last minute cleaning. SinMin doesn't seem to mind having to basically start over. A touching goodbye from Hall & Rhodes. Bigelow is set too have a huge year in 1990. Cornette got busted! Good to see Douglas & Busick patch things up. Okay I appreciate the whole "SinMin sucks" thing Iron & Steel but the fact you're still taking the money kinda takes some wind out of it. Severn & Blackman are looking good with their respective rivalries behind them. WIndham backs up his earlier words. Hart & Austin bury the hatchet. Hashimoto holds onto the TV Title heading into the new year. Vancouver. Eagle soars alone. Lee is determined to prove he doesn't need anybody. Dr Death puts down Gunn. The Hitman takes out the Playboy. Iron & Steel have some new fans. Gordy gets a second chance but it ends the same as the first. Kelowna. Tina continues to come through for Scotty. Douglas earns a nod, er, bow of respect from Tenryu. Austin is really getting the crowd behind him. Three successful defenses to close out the year.

A timely distraction hands Afi a win over the California Stud. Okay any charm Mando's gimmick just had just vanished. The New Breed get one up on the Southern Rockers again. Hoss is ready for the High Chief. Nice swerve with Gorgeous Jimmy. To be fair, I looked up a picture of him and Powers is a good looking guy. Price put all his anger into that punch handing Tatum & Victory the tag titles. -
Night 1. Eddie catches the Leprechaun. Some quick thinking by Candido send the Southern Boys riding off into the sunset. Though they don't seem to mind too much. An assist from DDP spells the end for Flyin' Brian. Phoenix Rising survives the three way dance. The Azul era has begun. The trios match ends in mayhem. Blackman finally puts his issue with Chono to rest. The Iceman shows some fire in the cage. Mike Awesome just became THE monster in PCW. Hart won the match but Austin proved to the whole world he's no quitter. Night 2. Al Snow is the last man standing when the dust clears. The Beast matches his student's success. Busick's reluctance to follow orders leads to a loss for Camp Cornette. Iron & Steel don't look particularly happy about getting their money. Rough times for the Playboy Club. They've got no belts and lost their tag team. With Lee's turn leading to Rhodes losing his job, looks like the Brigade is down too Windham & Gunn. The Dreamboats win the big one. The Collective meet their first big hurdle as Steamboat fends off Gordy.

Really liked Nikita's justification, really felt like something he'd believe. Burke looks to pluck the Red Rooster. Justified and the Union Jacks both aims to deal with each other in route to winning the National Tag Team Titles. Sawyer has lost his damn mind. Big announcements from the Control center. Colon vs St Clair with no time limit, Patera takes on the Mighty Yankee and Larry Z and David Sammartino step into the steel cage! Jammer isn't impressed with the competition in the AWA thus far. The All-Stars got blown out! Hogan wastes no time accepting Nikita's challenge for SuperClash.
-
I'm so impressed with just how fully you've filled out your calendar. 6 PPVs, 4 TV specials and at least three hours of weekly television (did anyone think of the gauntlet reading that?). Really hyped to see Sting back in WCW.

Really enjoyed the booking for the tag title tournament. Classic angle with the heel finalists getting a bye to the finals. Cannonball gets the win but DJ's boys make him pay for it. Mando shows why they call him "the opportunist". Going to Florida has done wonders for Johnny and Davey's careers. -
Looks like RINGS American debut is a moderate success.
-
The POP really showed off what they can do even in a loss. Rougeau makes young Scott look great. Owen vs Martel sounds like great TV to me. Dusty scores a win on the King. I second rain's suggestion for the Demolition/Skyscrapers rematch to be held in a cage.

The Horsemen target Prichard. With Starrcade drawing ever closer, the Horsemen attempt to put their discourse with the returning trio of Flair, Anderson & Blanchard behind them and focus their efforts on protecting Buddy Landel's title. This week saw "Cowboy" Bob Orton step up to soften the "Doctor of Desire" up before his big opportunity. Throughout the match it seemed "The Ace" was more interested in hurting Prichard then actually getting the win himself and he unleashed his entire arsenal with JJ Dillion being sure to get his shots in when possible. Prichard managed to dig deep and battle back enough to get Orton in position for the Superkick but that was when Landel stormed the ring and attacked his challenger. The two Horsemen beat down Prichard culminating in Orton holding Prichard in place for Landel to smash him in the head with the Ten Pounds of Gold. Fallout from The Army's attack. A recap of the Paul Jones Army's assault from last week was played and Gordon Solie read aloud a decision from the NWA Board of Directors who have made a series of matches to take place at Starrcade. First by his own request, Tommy Rich will go one-on-one with Kamala with the NWA Heritage Title on the line. Second Jimmy Valiant has apparently demanded a match with Paul Jones due to their years of animosity between them. Jones objected citing his retirement form in ring competition and instead offered a match with Ivan Koloff instead. after some debate a compromise was reached. Jimmy Valiant will face Ivan Koloff in a Russian Chain match and if Valiant is victorious then he shall receive 5 minutes with Paul Jones. Lastly, Shaska Whatley has been granted a match for the World Six Man Tag Titles but as his preferred partners, The Nightmares, are already obligated to defend their United States Tag titles Whatley has been allowed to select any partners he wishes. Furthermore these partners will be allowed to remain anonymous until the match begins. Who will challenge for the NWA United States Tag Team titles? Speaking of The Nightmares, there challengers were decided in a Four Corners elimination match between Badd Company, The Killer Bees, Buffalo Soldiers & The Samoan Island Tribe which was ultimately won by Badd Company.

Between Jerry Lawler and Curt Hennig there's really no bad option for the first USWA champion. And you can say the same for Gilbert. The Freebirds/Stud Stable sage looks to be heading for a bloody blowoff on Thanksgiving. DWB may have just outsmarted Marlin. Miss Tennessee is back to torment Rogers.
-
Huber with a solid showing. Konnan and Canek join up to fight Devastation Inc. Larry and Bruno's boy need to be pulled apart. The All-Stars aren't faring so well in Morrow's series. St Clair and Colon go to another draw. Damn. Nikita helps put down Stevens' men only to lay out Hogan himself. I wonder what the connection with Debeers is?
