Richter surprises everyone by handing the women's title to Mimi. The AAC reveal their secret weapon Mr Saito. The Freebirds retain but the Express have a clear case for a rematch. Piper and Lawler survive the cage. It turns out Humongous isn't just a monster, he's a damn psycho! Flair squeaks past Dibiase but now he's got to face the King in his kingdom.

NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Garvin faced off with the Assassin's other Beast of Burden in the form of "The Monster" Rip Morgan. Morgan certainly lived up to his moniker as he at times outright manhandled the World Champ. No matter what he unleashed however, "Rugged" Ron refused to relent. A frustrated Morgan looked to finish the champ with a running boot as Garvin was literally on the ropes. But just before he made contact, Garvin dropped down and Morgan's momentum took him over the top and crashing onto the floor with the Monster re-entering the ring just a second too late. Garvin had his hand raised but was clearly feeling the effects from facing two bruising opponents back to back. NWA United States Title. The Stud Stable's campaign to weaken Tom Prichard likewise continued with the "Doctor of Desire" facing off with Jimmy Golden. While he may now have the World Six Man titles to focus on, it's clear Golden still takes his role as "The Gatekeeper" seriously. Throughout the match he made a point of targeting Prichard's leg which Solie notes could have been as much about setting up for the "Fuller Lock" as avoiding the Super-kick. Prichard had to dig deep to finally pull out the win by countering the Piledriver into a "jackknife" pin but he left the ring with a noticable limp. The Crockett Cup. World Title. As Slater's opportunity at the Ten Pounds of Gold draws near, he and The Assassin are clearly looking for ways to soften the champion up before the big event. This week that took the form of a singles match with Nord the Barbarian. The brute was clearly looking to inflict maximum damage even at times passing up chances to actually win the match. Garvin had to knuckle down to endure the assault but his famous top rope sunsetflip allowed him to keep the Barbarian down for the three. As Garvin celebrated with the fans, The Assassin cast a withering glare the champs way. NWA United States Title. It seems great minds think alike as "The Mastermind" Ron Fuller launched a campaign to wear down Tom Prichard ahead of his challenge for the US title at the Crockett Cup. Dr Tom was allowed to choose a partner to take on the pair of Rod Price & Tommy on Worldwide with Prichard surprising the Stud Stable by recruiting Wahoo McDaniel! The two showed unexpected chemistry together but to their credit, Price & Cairo managed to assert themselves battering both opponents, particularly Prichard with a series of power moves. Eventually things broke down and the ref had to throw things out. The brawl continued and while the Stud Stable was eventually driven from the ring, Prichard was clearly sore from the match, a fact that definitely did not go unnoticed by Fuller. Jimmy Valiant and the Paul Jones Army. After defeating a local talent with his "Grooving elbow" Valiant was celebrating with his people when The Super Destroyer, The Sheepherders and King Kong Bundy all stormed the ring and swarmed Valiant while Paul Jones shouted instructions. The 4-1 beatdown continued for a bit until The Nightmares and Tommy Rich ran down to even the odds. One by one Jones' men were dumped to the outside with Bundy being the last man out and only after being swarmed by all four faces. It was only after security managed to keep the groups apart that Solie noticed that Shaska Whatley never made an appearance. The Crockett Cup. We received the final outside entrants for the Crockett Cup this week. Verne Gagne's AWA is sending only their finest with both sets of tag champions being chosen. World champs Hector & Mando Guerrero are second generation athletes whose Lucha influence is always exciting to see. Meanwhile National tag champs Ken Patera Brad Rhenigans, collectively known as The Olympians, are both prime examples of the classic technical style Gagne is known to love, even if their recent antics have befuddled the fans. WCW will be looking to impress Ted Turner and Jim Herd has selected to send his two top teams both of whom are very familiar to NWA fans. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard need no introduction. The former is a former NWA World Tag Team champion and a CO winner of last year's tournament while the latter is a four time NWA World Heavyweight Champion. It's no surprise the two have jelled instantly as a team becoming WCW World Tag Team champions. They have to be considered heavy favorites. Wherever they go, The Fabulous Freebirds make an impression and WCW is no exception. Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin made waves winning the WCW United States Tag Titles within a month of arriving. Can they continue that momentum to a win in the Crockett Cup? With all the teams announced, next week will see the final bracket revealed.

Malenko recruits some help against the New Generation but it doesn't work out. Windham is on the lookout for his stalkers but they're a no-show....for now. Blackman impresses Hashimoto. The Force clearly aren't fans of juice. I wonder if Page is as upset he had to help Adams as he was having to help Bigelow? Austin show how Wild he can get. Pillman retains and I'd be nervous if I were Ace right about now. LA night 2. I think it's safe to say the Southern Boys heel turn is complete as they rough up the Dreamboats. I like the idea of a short show to hype the big event. We may have only gotten three matches but they all meant something. Just what the hell is Sherri up to? United States Title. The main event of this week's er, Main Event was a battle royal to determine who would challenge for the NWA United States Title on night 2 of the Crockett Cup. 15 men battled it out and in the end it came down to Tom Prichard and Buddy Landel. The "Nature Boy" had Prichard literally on the ropes and backed up for a clothesline attempt. Thinking quickly, Prichard was able to turn it into a back body drop that got Landel over the top but Budro grabbed the rope and managed to pull himself back up on the apron. Seeing this the "Doctor of Desire" fired off a Superkick that sent the Horsemen crashing to the floor and Prichard himself to Columbia. The Crockett Cup. On Worldwide a new list of entrants was announced. From Pacific Coast Wrestling, we have the returning duo of "Beautiful" Bobby Eaton and "Sweet" Stan Lane, The Midnight Express, with their bombastic manager Jim Cornette. This will be the third year "The Louisville Lip" has lead a team into the tournament, will third time be the charm? Meanwhile PCW will also be sending the exciting young tandem of Tommy Dreamer and Glamour Boy Shane collectively known as The Dreamboats. Alongside their valet the lovely Trisa Hayes, they've made waves across the west coast. Are they ready to shake up the wrestling world. From the great white north, Maple Leaf Wrestling sends two teams each very familiar to NWA fans. Raymond & Jacques Rougeau are former NWA United States Tag Team champions who delighted in enraging fans with their antics. They've mainly been abroad these past few years but have been lured back by the offer of a million dollars. Also recognizable to the NWA faithful are Sean Royal & Chris Champion, The New Breed. These two young guns departed last year to travel the world and hone their craft and are reportedly excited to show what they've learned. Finally from the World Wrestling Federation, we have three teams determined to show why Vince McMahon's company truly is "the revolutionary force in sports entertainment". Leading the charge are WWF Tag Team champions Ax & Smash, Demolition. These leather clad bruisers have drawn more than passing comparison to the Road Warriors and many fans are fantasizing about a potential match between them. The Barbarian and the Warlord collectively called the Powers of Pain are known to NWA fans as a pair of powerhouses who run over anyone in their path. Lead by the Devious Mr Fuji, they're looking to smash their way to a million dollars. Finally from the University of Michigan, brothers Rick & Scott Steiner have wowed crowds across the country with their strength, athleticism and intensity. A victory in the Crockett Cup would mark them as a leading force in tag team wrestling for years to come.

The Young Lions show what they can do even if none of them get a win. All 6 men headed to the Cup are looking strong. Backlund is truly finding his groove here. Maeda is back on the winning track.

Funk is ready to determine the toughest Texan. Grizz gets a dirty pin keeping the feud with Kaz. Larry Z lends Chicky a helping hand. Canek looking strong as ever ahead of his World title match. Some solid promos hyping the multi-man tags at Champagne Slam. Los Guerreros are full of confidence ahead of the Crockett Cup and Champagne Slam. I'd take Gordy's words deadly seriously if I were Hogan.

Apologies if this was already known but I've just been made aware New Japan will be hosting Resurgence on May the 11th in the Toyota Arena in Ontario California. It's just been announced that the 11,000 seat venue will see all three STRONG titles as well as the World title defended.
