  1. News from the NWA. Jim Crockett Jr hasn't been shy at occasionally stepping outside the bounds of his official territory into neighboring states such as West Virginia as long as they aren't also being claimed by another promotion. If sources within Jim Crockett Promotions is to be believed, Mr Crockett is planning to not only continue this policy but push it further than ever in 1989. As readers are already aware, The NWA will be holding its first show of the new year in Sarasota Florida's Robarts Arena, marking its return to the Sunshine state after a lengthy absence. Likewise the recent collapse -previewed by a months long hiatus- of the Memphis territory has Crockett planning a return to Alabama, another state in which the NWA has made previous, if sporadic appearances. One source claims there tentative plans to host the 1989 Crockett Cup in the "Heart of Dixie" but nothing concrete as of yet. However it seems Mr Crockett has two other unclaimed territories in his sights. First there are apparently serious plans in place to hold "at least" one major event in the city of Baltimore, Maryland in the coming year. Even more surprising though is talk of negotiating with the AWA for permission to run shows in Western Tennessee, particularly the Knoxville area. This would mark the first time that the NWA would operate in part of an active territory. Mr Crockett apparently decided on this as -from his perspective at least- the AWA doesn't focus on Tennessee as much as it does the Midwest states and what attention it does pay being focused around the Memphis area. News of Jerry Jarrett departing to take the helm of WCW has reportedly bolstered confidence in this endeavor as it is believe that Verne Gagne may prove more open dividing the state without Jarrett in his ear. While much of this is still up in the air right now it cannot be denied that Jim Crockett Jr has big plans for the NWA in the new year. We shall provide updates as to the status of those plans as they come forth.
  2. Good thing Hogan was able to make it. Too bad he missed out on doing the job....I mean his shot at the title . Muta and the Bulldog put on a great show.
  3. A suitably crazy ending to the championship lumberjacks match. I'm sure the fans went wild seeing Andre get his hands on Heenan.
  4. Donna Summers gets the crowd fired up with a two for one performance. NGL I was kinda looking forward to the Olympians as self-righteous heel champs. Still congrats to the Gunslingers. Grizzly and Kazmaier do their best to make up for the missing title match. Fujinami makes Vader look like a proper brute. Love the idea of the Iceman using actual ice to win the Bunkhouse match. Brandi puts up a spirited fight but it just wasn't enough. Even though he held onto his title it was definitely a rough night for Byron...I mean Brian. The High Chiefs are sure to make an impression and I'm excited to see the man who's "Simply the Best" return to the AWA. Gordy technically wins but I'm not sure either man even survived that cage.
  5. NWA drops Tyree Pride.
  6. Loving all the drama you're putting in these.
  7. While I wait for Spaldoni to make his pick, the NWA goes ahead and drops Mongolian Mauler, Angel of Death, Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff to keep within the roster cap.
  8. NWA trades its first pick in the Memphis roster draft for Big John Studd and the Nasty Boys to come Jan 1.
  9. And your AEW Continental Classic tournament final, taking place at World's End will be.... Eddie Kingston vs Jon Moxley!
  10. A highlight episode makes for the perfect Christmas present for WWF fans.
  11. We all get a Christmas present as the Renesto Brothers are FINALLY tag team champions!
  12. The power trio get us off to a strong start. Missy once again comes in clutch for her man. I wouldn't mind a rematch. The Freebirds make a huge splash in their debut. Piper said "fuck this match. I'mma just beat his ass." What is Dibiase up to now that Hart and the Samoans seem to be behind them? I'm gonna wait to hear Murdoch's explanation before assigning final judgement but his turn was definitely a surprise. Major shakeup in the Horsemen. Spivey is out, Blanchard is in, Flair's still got the World title but Sting and new US champ Luger will still be on his trail.
  13. Congratulations! You called this perfectly. At New Year's Dash the Blue League semifinal will be Bryan Danielson vs Eddie Kingston while the previously mentioned Mox/Swerve/White three-way as the Gold League semi.
  14. I love how much detail you put in here. Glad to see The Olympians get the nod as I've been eating their act up.
  15. Okay I get that you're joking but is that something he'd actually do?
  16. I actually found out about this a minute before you posted it. Good for Tana. I wonder how this will change things going forward?
  17. An excellent recap.
  18. Gold League wrapped up last night with Mox, Swerve and White tied with 12 points each meaning the GL semi will be a triple threat match. Blue League wraps up this Saturday when Andrade(9) faces Kingston(6), Castagnoli(6) faces Danielson(9) and King(6) faces Garcia(0). With this lineup Blue League is destined to end in a tie with perhaps as many as 5 men involved.
  19. Morton is exactly the kind of pure hearted babyface you want to put up against a egotistical prick like Gilbert. Mr, pardon me, Brother Hughes is a perfect fit for the Nation. Nice touch having Snowman touch on Atlas's run in the AWA. The Freebirds are coming and they've got gold in their sights. The Piper/Muraco situation turned sour fast. The Tag Title match could the whole arena down. Spivey may have more than his title on the line when he faces Luger. Rhodes....Funk.... Texas Bullrope Match... something's gotta give. Sting is shooting to the top in record time but is he ready to unseat the Nature Boy?
  20. The Soviets definitely impressed tonight. The Koslowski brothers streak in tag matches comes to a surprising end. Osaka may not have known who Volk Han was before but they sure do now. The first time I read the ending to the main event I was as confused as the fans, I thought Mr Backlund might have got screwed but it was just a judgement call by the ref. Not that Backlund is any happier about it. Maeda vs Takada in the Budokan! The hype is already on.
  21. Studd & Hercules are gonna make the Weasel rue the day he showed them the door. The Champ vs Champ feud continues to gather steam. Bravo certainly doesn't lack confidence in his chances against Hogan. Fuji has found another killer to add to his collection. It may be winter but Rude and Roberts is white hot. Hacksaw calling out the Bossman. Dangerously pulls off a serious coup signing Muta.
  22. The Assassin and the Renesto Brothers are done being ignored and decide to call out the champs face to face. The Cheetah Kid is a gimmick that feels like it would fit right in at a small regional territory. Bobby Blaze steps up to protect Dark Journey with her boys on the shelf.
  23. Loving Sarge cutting his promo on top of a tank! Greg's back.....yay .
  24. Brandi ain't backing down but Sarge won't hesitate to knock him down. The Olympians and the Glamour Boys are both looking strong ahead of the battle royal. The Saints and Coast 2 Coast meanwhile, may be distracted by more personal business. The Dream Machine is that expecting a big night for his boys. Fujinami and Vader are both getting ready for a major clash. Larry Z gets the jump on Orndorff. Canek absolutely blitzes McGee. Gordy and Kerry just can't keep their hands off each other. Gerry gives the fans a pretty sweet gift with a proper preshow. A sweet video package highlighting perhaps the two baddest men in the AWA sends us off the air.
  25. Looks like PCW just found its Smoking Gunn.
