Portland. Not sure how Coast 2 Coast got the Monster on their side but it was worth it. So now Barr is.....helping Piper? Okay didn't see that coming. The Hexagon are through playing nice. Big Vito is coming along nicely. Sarge closed that particular book. Scotty remains the best wrestler on PCW TV. Night 2. PCO best the Gentlemen again. Awesome's path of rage continues. The Brigade closes down the Club. Hart chose his partners well. Dibiase puts the TC back in the win column. Dr Death fails again to take the Dragon's gold. Eugene. The MT go two straight to keep their trios titles. The Monster hands Jack the Victory. The Midnight's felt the power of the Force. Without Singh's help, Tatum falls to Dreamer. Malenko submits the Lethal Weapon. Barr pushing Azul to the breaking point.

One thing I like about this format is how you can organically give an angle multiple segments to build. Case in point, how much you did to build up the six man next week between Garvin, Hart & Smith vs Love's trio. JJ may have to bring in someone to deal with Tully. Nikita & Muta jockeying for the World title shot is great TV.

Verne looks set to roll out the red carpet for someone. Bundy is gonna be tough to get out of either ring. Brandi goes up 2-0 on the Olympian. The AWA might wanna shell out for some extra security for when poor Larry has to interview Nell & the Hangman. The DC's hammers wreck the RnR's chances of winning the 8 man tag. The Maverik's are riding to a National Tag title shot. Hansen cuts right to the chase with Hogan.

Airing on 3/5/90 on HBO. *Unless stated otherwise matches were taped at the Winnipeg Arena in Winnipeg, Manatoba Canada* Heenan & Monsoon welcome everyone to the studio and hype the events from SNME. They say they'll have news regarding the fallout of that event as well as a number of updates regarding the approaching WrestleMania V!. Match #1 The Genius defeats Koko B. Ware by countering the "Ghost Buster" into an inside cradle with a handful of tights. WWF Update: Mean Gene recaps the surprise appearance of Jake "The Snake" Roberts at SNME and says his sources are at a loss at what the notorious wrestler's goals could be so far. Match #2 (RAW) The Fantastics (Bobby Fulton & Tommy Rogers) defeat two jobbers with the 'Rocker Launcher" Match #3 Hillbilly Jim defeats El Gato (Paul Diamond in a mask) with a bearhug. Footage is played of Zeus' attack on The Ultimate Warrior and SLick's remark about "earning their money". Monsoon focuses on that and pointedly asks Heenan if HE knows anything about that. Heenan puffs up and says Slick could've been talking about anyone because nobody likes the Ultimate Warrior. Hell he says he wouldn't be surprised if Warrior himself paid them to do that so he has an excuse for when Rude wipes the floor with him at WrestleMania. A bewildered Monsoon sends us to the next match. Match #4 (RAW) King Haku leaves some poor soul a lifeless husk with the Tongan Death Grip. Match #5 The American Eagles (Justice & Liberty ) defeat The Bolshieviks (Boris Zhukov & Nikolai Volkoff) by DQ when the ref caught Zhukov hitting Justice with the Soviet flag. Back in the studio it's announced these two teams will go at one more time at WrestleMania in a FLAG MATCH! Match #6 "The Walking Natural Disaster" Earthquake w/"Le Commendant" Frenchy Martin defeats Mark Ming with the "Earthquake Splash". Split screen promo sees Earthquake call out Andre saying it's time a new giant reigned in the WWF. Mean Gene gives the WrestleMania VI report and delivers the breaking news that due to Benoit pinning Raymond in the 8 man tag at SNME, The Commonwealth will Challenge for the WWF United States Tag Team Titles at Mania! Feature Match WWF Intercontinental Championship. Tito Santana(c) defeats Mr Saito w/"The Devious" Mr Fuji by countering a larat into a Crucifix pin. After the match Dino Bravo charges the ring and a pull apart ensues. After security breaks things up Santana grabs the mic and says he's sick and tired of Bravo's cheap tricks and if Bravo wants his title so badly he can can fight for it like a man because Santana is challenging him to a match at WrestleMania! -
Tully Blanchard declares war on JJ Dillon! Nikita and Muta fight over who gets the first crack at Luger leaving the champ laying. Garvin wastes no time calling Martel out.
-
Akbar, Budro & The Pitbulls make an interesting mental image. Doom rights a month's long wrong and capture the UWF tag titles. Adias looks to make amends with Von Erich. Orndorff is more Wonderful than Kiern is Fabulous. The Japanese trio goes on quite the tear. Brad gets taken out but the Bullet is more than willing to take his son's place, especially against a Fuller. Jimmy just can't keep his megaphone away from Honky's head. Dundee gives Dutch a taste of his own medicine and gets the Tri State title as a bonus. The Slater drama continues as he costs Lawler (and Jarrett) the match without laying a hand on him

Viewers of tonight's Saturay Night's Main Event will have been surprised to to see Jake "The Snake" Roberts in attendance despite the fact that, as far as can be determined, Roberts' is still under contract with World Championship Wrestling. Roberts has been the subject of some controversy lately with sources at recent WCW events suggesting Mr Roberts was engaged in some...problematic behavior. Mr Roberts' comments -and the fact that the WWF allowed him to speak at all- seem to suggest that some sort of agreement has been reached with WCW but what that agreement could entail is for now anyone's guess. In other news from the WWF, sources from within McMahon world suggest that a number of contracts could be coming to a end at the upcoming WrestleMania event. Perhaps the most significant name mentioned is the Big Boss Man. Boss Man apparently has something planned for the event -one might presume a rematch with Nailz- but there seems to be a widespread belief that afterwards Boss Man will be moving on.

March 1, 1990 Beeghly Center in Youngstown, Ohio *Terry Funk & Manny Fernandez are standing in front of a WrestleMania VI banner* Funk: Tonight The Texas Outlaws have come to this God forsaken one horse town to do one thing and one thing only *jabs his branding iron towards the camera* And that's leave our mark on those two inbred jackasses Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan! *Cuts to Big Boss Man* Boss: Nailz tonight i'm not gonna have to worry about reading you your rights because the only right you have tonight is the right to the country sized whooping you got coming to you boy! *Cut to Bobby Heenan and Rick Rude who has the WWF title over his shoulder* Heenan: Just when i think my opinion of the humanoids can't get any lower they force me to rethink it. Can you believe there's actually people out there who think that there's anyone on the WWF roster willing to take on THIS man *points to Rude* the greatest wrestler on God's green earth on behalf of that painted up lunatic. Rude: It's absolutely laughable Bobby but I don't mind, after all there's nothing I love more than to see all my doubters get another Rude Awakening. *makes a kissing motion to the camera* *Cuts to The Ultimate Warrior* Warrior: Tonight I march into the unknown, blinded to the dangers that await me. But I march armed with the belief of all the little Warriors all around the world and that is power that is greater than all the forces of darkness put together and with their power, I shall cut a path of brilliance all the way to the halls of the Gods themselves! *Cut to the Northern Invasion* Martin: I have assembled ze greatest collection of talent from ze greatest nation in all of ze world, Canada! And tonight we shall prove our superiority to all ze ignorant Americans watching. After Vince McMahon & Gorilla Monsoon welcome us to the show they send us to "Mean" Gene who's with Tito Santana & The Commonwealth. Tito says this feud with Dino has gotten out of hand but tonight he's created the perfect team to deal with Dino and his buddies. In the Commonwealth he has a British wrestling legend and the hottest prospect to come out of Canada in some time to deal with the Rougeau Brothers and as for Earthquake, if he wants to find the man they brought in to deal with him, he just has to look up. * We cut back to the arena where "The Maple Leaf Forever" comes over the pa system. The arena erupts in boos as Martin leads his men to the ring waving the Canadian fag the whole way* Howard Finkle: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your opening contest, it is an eight Man Tag team match and is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, accompanied by their manager "Le Commandant" Frenchy Martin at a combined weight of 1,168 pounds lbs, they are the team of the "World's Strongest Man" Dino Bravo, "The Walking Natural Disaster' Earthquake & the WWF United States Tag Team Champions, Jacues & Raymond The Fabulous Rougeau Brothers, they are the Northern Invasion! *The Canadians work the crowd until a a new theme comes over the pa* Finkle: And their opponents, first from Tocula, Mexico, weighing 232 lbs, he is the WWF Intercontinental Champion Tito Santana *Santana stops at the top of the aisle. He takes in the cheers until "God Save The King" begins to play* and his partners at a combined weight of 454 lbs, Dynamite Kid & Chris Benoit The Commonwealth *They meet up with Tito and trade high fives. The crowd is abuzz waiting for their partner to arrive. When he does ther's no music but he doesn't need any* and rounding out the team, from Grenoble in the French Alps, standing 7'4 weighing 520 lbs, "The 8th Wonder of the World" Andre the Giant! While the hottest exchanges are between Santana and Bravo, you can tell the fans are waiting to see Andre and Earthquake and when the two big men finally find each other the roof just about comes off. Despite being in the perhaps unprecedented position of being the smaller man, Earthquake doesn't back down at all and lays into the beloved legend with the two brawling through the ropes. Things start to break down but in the chaos it's young Benoit who come through for his team when he catches Raymond in a "Dragon suplex" for the three count! *Commercial including ad for WrestleMania VI which airs live on pay-per-view from the Skydome in Toronto, Ontario Canada on April 6th* *As the camera pans the audience it focuses on Jake "The Snake" Roberts who's seated front row! Commentary speculate on why he's here as to their knowledge he's not employed by the World Wrestling Federation* Sean Mooney is standing by with Dusty Rhodes & Jim Duggan. Rhodes says the war between he & Funk has spanned many years and several companies and sometimes he wonders if it will ever end. He reminds people that he was one of the Original Texas Outlaws and it makes him sick that Funk is tainting the name of something he started and was proud of. Duggan says he's run into Fernandez before and never had a problem with him until he let Funk get in his head, well tonight he says he's gonna do Manny a favor and knock some sense into him. *Cut back to the ring* Finkel: The following contest is a Pick your Poison match, it is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Parts Unknown, weighing 280 lbs, he is the winner of the 190 Royal Rumble, The Ultimate Warrior! *The fans are on their feet as Warrior sprints to the ring. Warriors paces about as he awaits his opponent* and his opponent, accompanied by his manager "The Doctor of Style" Slick, weighing 300 lbs. "The Human Wrecking Machine" Zeus! Power moves galore between these two with neither man giving an inch. This is the first time Zeus is gooing one one one with a man who can match him not just in strength but also the ability to absorb punishment and you get the feeling he doesn't really know how to respond. He decides to take things to the outside where he repeatedly whips Warrior between the ring apron and the guardrail. The ref counts to ten but you can tell Zeus couldn't care less. He lifts Warrior up and drops him chest first on the guardrail once, twice, three times! Warrior is in a bad way as an oddly happy Slick leads Zeus away. As he does, the camera overhears hims saying they "earned their money tonight." *Commercials including ad for WrestleMania VI* *Commentary recaps the attack by Zeus on the Ultimate Warrior and announce Warrior has been escorted to the trainer's office for an initial evaluation.* Finkel: The following contest is a Pick your Poison match and is scheduled for one fall *A woman breathlessly says "Simply Ravishing" before "Smooth Operator" by Sade plays throughout the arena.* Introducing first, accompanied by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan and representing the Heenan Family from Robbinsdale, Minnesota, weighing 252 pounds, he is your World Wrestling Federation Champion., "Ravishing" Rick Rude! *Rude swaggers up to Finkel and swipes the mic away without sparing the announcer so much as a sideways glance* Rude: Cut the music. What'd I'd like to have right now is for all you fat, sweaty, beer bellied Youngstown yahoos to keep the noise down while I take my robe off and show the ladies what a real man, and especially what a real champion looks like, hit the music. *"Smooth Operator" hits up again as the boos rain down but as soon as the robe is off it's drowned out by a distinctively feminine cry of appreciation as the robe comes off. He poses while Heenan holds the title high, ending by flicking whatever he has sprayed on at the camera* *Rude casually strolls around the ring until "The Yellow Rose of Texas" starts up* Finkel: And his opponent from Dallas, Texas weighing 235 lbs, "The Golden Warrior" Kevin Von Wrich! Suffice to say a much more athletic and scientific match than the previous encounter. Von Erich really lights up the champ and Heenan is starting to get nervous. Von Erich manages to get the "Iron Claw" on Rude which causes Heenan to get up on the apron. Von Erich sees this and breaks the hold before going over and slapping the claw on Heenan which gets him quite the pop! Unfortunately this gives rude time to recover and he delivers a running knee to Von Erich's back and rolls him up with his feet on the ropes for the tainted victory. "Mean" Gene is down with Roberts and tries to ask what he's doing here but Roberts is evasive. He says snakes are the most dangerous creatures on earth because they've perfected the art at striking at the right time against the right prey and from what he can see there's plenty of prey to be had in the World Wrestling Federation. Finkel: The following contest is a nightstick on a pole match and is scheduled for one fall *The crowd pops as *Hard Times" comes over the pa* Introducing first from Cobb County Georgia, weighing 330 lbs, The Big Boss Man *Boss Man is all business as he marches to the ring, his mood only darkens as "Hard Time Theme" starts up* and his opponent accompanied by "The Doctor of Style" Slick, weighing 302 lbs Nailz! Nailz rushes the ring and he & Boss Man start throwing hands leaving Finkel to head for the hills. The bad blood couldn't be more apparent as it takes ten minutes or so before one of them even ries to retrieve the nightstick. Boss Man nearly has it bust Slick goes to stop him. Boss Man shoves him down but Nailz delivers an ax handle to the back before getting underneath so he could deliver a powerbomb. Nailz then goes up and retrieves the stick. After several stiff shots Nailz camps on "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" using the stick for added leverage. Boss Man struggles as best he can but eventually passes out. It takes the raf and several security guards to pull Nailz off and makes sure he leaves without further incident. Final commercial break* Finkel: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your main event of the evening *pop* It is a tag team match scheduled for one fall *"Man with a Harmonica" starts up earning massive boos* Introducing team number 1 and representing The Texas Outlaws, first from El Paso Texas, weighing 275 lbs "Raging Bull" Manny Fernanadez and his partner from the Double Cross Ranch outside Amarillo, Texas, weighing 247 pounds, Terry Funk! *The Outlaws, mostly Funk, are yelling abuse at the crowd when "Two by Four" starts up* And their opponents, first from Glenn Falls, New York weighing, weighing 270 lbs "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan! *Duggan stops right at the end of the aisle and points to the entrance with a grin as "Common Man Boogie" starts up* and his partner from Austin Texas, weighing 275 lbs, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes! The WWF may be in Ohio but the tag match that plays out could take place anywhere in the south. The Outlaws isolate Duggan for a good chunk and really work him over. Eventually Duggan ducks a double clothesline and makes the hot tag to a huge pop. Things break down and while the ref is trying to corral Duggan, Funk grabs the branding iron while Manny holds Rhodes in place. Dusty moves at the last second meaning Funk cracks his own partner in the head. He charges Rhodes who backdrops him over the top before delivering a "Bionic Elbow" for the three! -
Victoria. Awesome has been built up so well. The Ministry has something in store for Busick. It's been building for weeks and the Thrillseekers finally enlist for the Brigade. FERDA....whatever that means. Big win for Big Vito. The Terror Collective put their enemies on notice. Hart isn't deterred though. The Monster is back! Vancouver. Cash events the score. The Thrillseekers are already proving their worth. Bidelow & Tenryu continue to push each other's limits. PCO with a huge win over the Gentlemen. Dibiase gets a tainted pin over the PCW champion. Kelowna. Jett wins the series for the Money Train. The Midnight's were jamming tonight. Slaughter got Victory in his Cluthches. Barr is on his A game lately. Back to back title defenses close out the loop.

I hadn't realized how much I missed Morrow. Love the idea of the Champagne Challenge. But not as much as I love the idea of Hansen gunning for Hogan! It's really a credit for you that i'm digging the Disalvo/Storm feud as much as I am considering they're actively fight over a coat and sunglasses at this point. The Power Twins are riding pretty high. Patera demands a rematch with Brandi. I always appreciate how you use multi-men tags to advance multiple feuds at once. Debeers enlists Smith as a mercenary. Sawyer & Jack just keep getting crazier. Stevens is irate and says Jumbo is coming for Muraco. Beefcake is so focused on Nell & The Hangman he loses his match with The Stud.
-
The Holy Demon Army is on the warpath. Vader makes huge waves by pinning the legendary Misawa. The idea of Jack Brisco and especially Nick Bockwinkel is so surreal but apparently Brisco adapts better.
-
The Missouri Tiger impressed with his return to Memphis. The Southern Boys are quickly climbing the ranks. Orndorff makes a Wonderful debut. Love Fuller deciding he's too good to wrestle for free on TV. Paul Bearer & his macabre duo could put a hex on the World tag titles. Dutch & Dundee look to take it all over the Mid-South Arena next week. Savage takes advantage of a ref bump to take down the Natural. Lawler manages to score a win over Gilbert as the ringside area descends into chaos.

Match #4 "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes defeats "Hollywood" Bob Holly with the "Bionic Elbow". Match #5 "The Mastodon" Vader w/"The Devious" Mr Fuji defeats BattleKat with the "Vader Bomb" in just over a minute. We see a couple of quick promos from the celebrities signed for WrestleMania. Battleground seems to have been cooler in concept then in execution. Herc's chain saves the titles for P&G. Hall is looking like 24k. Garvin makes his return and hasn't forgotten what Martel did to him. Skysracpers stick a couple of pigs. What a finish to the Muta/Liger match. Muta has got to get that world title shot now. Pillman with a star making win. The Roadie's secure both sets of belts but the crowd's reaction is interesting. Tatanka has his moments but Nikita is on a rampage. Even on crutches, Sting shows up to help his friend. Luger legitimizes his reign by beating, and therefore becoming, the man.
-
Welcome back!
-
The Dutchmen put on a good show all night.
-
Sounds like a fun go-home show. Can't wait to hear what Sting has to say.
-
Night one in Honolulu! The Trios titles are still riding with the Money Train. Douglas and the Bully may have pushed the Hexagon a bit too far. Iron & Steel shut down the Syndicate. Finlay launched an all about assault but Sarge stands tall. LK & RZ correct course for the Sinister Minister. Bret & Gordy gets bloody but still nothing is settled. The partnership with PCO really comes in clutch for Stunning Steve tonight. Dennis Condrey finally brings the California title to Camp Cornette. A miscue from the challengers leads to the Dreamboats retaining. Scotty closes the night by bringing the TV title to the Club. Jericho & Storm get night 2 off to a Thrilling start. An interesting three way rivalry is developing between Piper, Rose & Barr. Sabu wins the Battle of the madmen. The OWC storm the Citadel. Awesome concludes a good weekend for him. The Force feel the Heat with a bit of help from Corny. Bidelow goes big time by beating Buddy. Windham gets the win but Lee isn't satisfied. The dragon roasts the Leprechaun trying to take his gold. Sarge & the Force return the favor. Steamboat survives Dr Death but Dibiase is already lurking.
-
Latin Desire win the battle of the brother duos. What goes around comes around and now Disalvo gets to rock the jacket/shades combo. Muraco gets the biggest win of his career by beating a former world champion. Taylor is still the cock of the walk. A great night for RnR as they retain the tag titles and help the Hulkster fend off the Commission. Speaking of Hogan, he completes the clean sweep for the champions.
-
Vin Man & Good Vibrations are hunting for some payback. Brandi finally gets back in the win column, Soul Patrol put the Commission on notice. Solid progression of the Blaze/Kaluah feud. Hate to say it but I can't blame Greg for being smug when he's got Bundy to handle business for him. St Clair with a short but sweet rebuttal. The Sword's make the Starr's pay for costing them the tournament finals.
-
WWF drops Rip Morgan and signs Brady Boone.
-
The Mortons certainly appear to be the best hope of bringing the USWA tag titles to Kentucky. Big Dave is getting frustrated at the pace of his advancement under Falk. Starr sends Humperdinck packing but Locke doesn't seem to bothered.

Airing 2/19/90 on HBO. *Unless stated otherwise match were filmed at the Hara Arena in Dayton Ohio* Monsoon & Heenan are in the studio and say tonight's show will have some big announcements regard the upcoming Saturday Night's Main Event. Match #1 Koko Ware defeats "Hollywood" Bob Holly with the "Ghostbuster". WWF Update: We see the assault by Nailz on Big Boss Man at the recent show in Phily then Mean Gene informs us that by order of President Tunney, Nailz and Boss Man will go one on one at SNME in a match where Boss Man's nightstick will be on a pole and whoever gets to it first can use it on their opponents as much as they want! Match #2 Terry Funk defeats Jerry Monti with the spinning toe hold. Split screen promo sees Funk say that no matter where he goes in wrestling Dusty Rhodes is following him like the world's fattest shadow. Says at SNME he's going to finally put "that yellla bellied mongoloid out of my misery" while his "prize student" Manny shows that "flag waving flunky" Duggan why you don't stick your nose in Texas Outlaw business! Match #3 Mr Saito w/"The Devious" Mr Fuji defeats Lee Peak with the "Saito suplex" Event Center: Sean Mooney shows us a couple of promos. Slick is with Badd Company and says his boys are bad News for any team in the WWF, especially the ones holding championship gold. He-he-he. We then cut to a furious Jimmy Snuka says he has worked far too long and hard to be anyone's victim, even a man as dangerous as Haku. Says he's gonna make Haku pay in the worst way possible, Jimmy Snuka is coming for the Crown! Match #4 Silver King vs Brain Christopher ends in a no contest when two large Samoan men storm the ring and beat the hell out of both of them. The larger one drags Chrsiopher in to a nearby corner, climbs to the second rope then just drops down on Christopher. Finally Mr Fuji enters the ring laughing like a madman and leads these two beasts away. Back in the studio, Heenan says he reached out to his friend Fuji and can report that the two men are called Alofa & Kokina and they are Fuji's Samoan Headhunters! We see a replay of a recent episode of Wrestling Challange where Dino Bravo is beating the tar out of some dude when Tito Santana runs down and starts beating the fire out of Bravo. The Rougeau Brothers come out to help their college but the Commonwealth comes out to even the odds. Thins really start to get out of hand when Earthquake stomps his way to the ring. Through a voice-over Mean Gene informs the viewers that President Tunney has signed for SNME, all four members of the Northern Invasion will face, WWF Intercontinental Champion Tito Santana, The Commonwealth and whoever they can find to round out their team. Match #5 Tugboat defeats Danny Wolfe with the "Capsize" (running splash) WrestleMania Update: Last week it was announced that Robert Goulet will start the show by singing "Oh, Canada". This week Mooney announces that the main event for the WWF Championship will have a special guest referee, Undisputed Boxing Heavyweight Champion of the world James "Buster" Douglas! Match #6 "The Human Wrecking Machine" Zeus w/"Doctor of Style" Slick defeats Mark Starr with a Argentine backbreaker rack. Feature match (RAW) Ultimate Warrior defeats The Warlord w/Bobby "The Brain" Heenan by DQ when the Barbarian interferes. The PoP double team Warrior who fights back as best he can but even he can't seem to match the combined power of the tag team champions. Thankfully Demolition make the save and with the numbers now against his men, Heenan calls a hasty retreat. -
So Battleground is a modified WarGames, well I will say I like the random drawing. That could be fun. Not hard to guess who fill out the Sullivan/Hart team. Tatanka vs Nikita wasn't a match i'd thought about but is an exciting prospect. Flair seems rather desperate going into WrestleWar and that's not good for anybody, least of all Luger.

The Southern Boys have got to be considered favorites in the USWA World Tag Title tournament. Dick Slater, ethical bounty hunter wasn't something I had on my bingo card. Iceman put Hector on ice. Having two managers pays off for Gilbert. One good thing about the Southern Boys being here is Brad has some guaranteed backup. Somehow I feel like the post match caning might not have been as satisfying as Jarrett & Rhodes had expected. A bad landing by Sid hands the Freebirds the Southern tag titles. The First Families interference awards Savage a contract but seems to have Slater souring on his assignment.
