The Dirty White Boys (Len Denton & Tony Anthony) defeat The S&S Express (Joe Savoldi & Shaun Simpson) when Anthony pinned Simpson after kicking him in the head with a boot he had suspiciously tapped against the mat. "Black Magic" Norman Smiley defeats "Lone Star" Brian Adidas with the "Norman Conquest" Iceman Parsons w/Slick defeats "Super Rookie" Hiroshi Hase after Slick struck Hase with his cane allowing Parsons to hit a Piledriver. The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) defeat The Assassins (2&3) with a double dropkick on Assassin #3. "Raging Bull Manny Fernandez defeats Arn Anderson w/JJ Dillon with the "Flying Burrito" The Outlaws (Ron Bass & Black Bart) defeat The Southern Boys (Tracy Smothers & Steve Armstrong) when Bass pinned Armstrong with the "Texas Gordbuster" NWA World Heavyweight Title "Nature Boy" Ric Flair(c) defeats Ole Anderson w/JJ Dillon by DQ when Arn Anderson ran out & attacked Flair while he had Ole in the Figure Four. JJ helps Ole up & we get a 3-1 beatdown until Manny Fernandez runs out with a chair sending the Horsemen running. He helps Flair up & the two fan favorites stand tall to send the fans home happy.

"Gigolo" Jimmy Del Ray w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel defeats Billy Two Eagles with a Moonsault. Del Ray motions having a belt around his waist after his hand is raised. "Adorable" Adrian Adonis w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel defeats "The Polynesian Prince" Siva Afi with "Goodnight Irene" NWA World Six Man Tag Team Titles The Celestial Trinity (Zodiac, Jason the Terrible & Angel of Death)(c) defeat Good & Plenty (Ray Candy & Sweet Brown Sugar) & Brickhouse Brown when Jason pinned SBS with a diving headbutt. Dusty Rhodes cuts a promo on winning the tournament in Charlotte to challenge for the NWA United States Title. He puts over his history in Florida & says he's looking forward to "lockin' horns with one of the baddest dudes in all wrasslin & my fellow Texan Stan Hansen". He says winning the United States title on independence day is gonna be "one of the sweetest moments of my wrasslin lifetime babay!" We see a pre-recorded from The Celestial Trinity who hype their winning the NWA World Six Man Tag Team titles in Charlotte. Zodiac says "The Posse tried to halt the inevitable march of the universe, only to be crushed beneath it." Says they will hold the titles until the last star fades from the sky & throws out an open challenge for the Bash for "an three mortals brave yet foolish enough to think they can overturn fates design." Solie announces that due to the Southen Boys owning a DQ victory over the Brutha's in a title match, as well as what went down on last nights WCW, the NWA Championship Committee has decreed that the Southern Boys will receive another chance at the United States Tag Titles at the Great American Bash!

From Center Stage in Atlanta GA. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone Ring Announcer: David Crockett Previously recorded Airing on 6/18/87 on the USA Network. The War Party (Joe Lightfoot & Billy Two Eagles) vs The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal) Royal & Champion are familiar faces to those who recall the Mid-Atlantic days. Commentary say they've been traveling the country honing their skills & have returned to show off what they've learned. They isolate Two Eagles & really work him over, showing they aren't afraid to bend the rules. Lightfoot gets the hot tag & manages to turn the tide for a bit until Royal nails a dropkick which knocks him back into the War Party's corner. Two Eagles takes the opportunity to tag himself back in which seems to irritate Lightfoot & they actually get into an argument until Royal drives a knee into Two Eagles back sending him crashing into Lightfoot who falls through the ropes. Royal whips Two Eagles into the New Breed's corner & tags in Champion. Royal lifts Two Eagles in a spinebuster position while Champion climbs to the top rope & comes off with a seated senton. Schiavone informs the audience that this move is called "future shock" & it puts Two Eagles away. Lightfoot is furious at Two Eagles & walks away while his partner trys to explain himself. "The Polynesian Prince" Siva Afi vs Barry O O's arrogant strutting around the ring really gets under the crowd's skin. He & Siva have a mostly straight forward brawl with O sprinkling in some mat wrestling for flavor. Eventually Afi's intensity turns the tide & he claims the win via the jumping headbutt. "Mr Excitement" Johnny Ace vs Joel "Dead Eye" Deaton Deaton's pure roughhouse offense clashes nicely with Ace's more versatile arsenal. They have a competitive & entertaining match until Deaton escapes an attempted "Ace Crusher" by shoving his opponent chest first into the turnbuckle. He follows up by hitting a stiff clothesline on his cornered adversary before planting him with a bulldog for the 1...2...3. The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) vs Tough Guy Inc (Don Bass & Duke Myers) The Bee's are making their NWA debut & commentary hype them as an exciting duo who've made their names in the northeast as well as a recent successful stint in Chicago. They quickly win the crowd over with their quick offense & effective teamwork. The Tough Guys are determined to play spoilers however & we get a nice back & forth tag match. Towards the end things start to break down & we get all four men in the ring throwing hands. Surprisingly this plays to the Bee's advantage as they're able to nail Bass with a double dropkick allowing Blair to pin him while Brunzell holds off Myers. Bruiser Brody vs "Pretty Boy" Doug Somers w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel Somers really drew the short end of the stick as Brody batters him around the ring. Commentary point out how Brody & Somers' Radiance stablemate Adrian Adonis eliminated each other in the tournament in Charlotte. Martel is able to create a few openings for her client to take advantage of but they never last & inevitably he falls to the "King Kong Knee Drop" NWA World Television Title Tom "MegaMan" McGee(c) vs "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley w/Slick Commentary hype Whatley's opportunity to become a double champion & he throws everything he has at the champion. Whatley really knows how to get heat in this part of the country & the addition of Slick kicks that to another level meaning the crowd is on fire for this one. The combination of Whatley's aggressive brawling & Slick's willingness to interfere make it a rough defense for McGee who responds with grit & his jaw dropping athletism. In a crucial part of the match, Whatley has prone & goes for the "Flying Willie" but takes a second too long berating the fans & McGee is able to roll out of the way. Slick perhaps sensing the TV title slip away, gets on the ramp connecting the entrance to the ring & begins jaw jacking with the ref. Suddenly the Southern Boys come out & promptly pick Slick up onto their shoulders & carry him to the back as commentary mention that the Southern Boys own a victory over the United States Tag champs. Whatley is irate at what's happening to his manager but before he can do anything he's pulling into a back suplex which the champ follows with a slingshot legdrop for another successful defense of his belt.

Furnas passes his toughest test yet against the general. The Malenko's win the battle of the brothers with a little help from Gary Young. It seems the Wild Things at least picked up some skill at psychological warfare during they're stint in the army. Severn & Meada can't be bothered with meaningless things like rules. Young is forced to realize what goes around does indeed come around. Badd Company isn't bad enough to take the titles from Black Gold. Black Tiger has definitely earned the right to defend his belt in the main event, and he & Pillman certainly make it count.

Papa-San has had enough to Muta's disobedience & boots Muta from Rising Sun. Now Nagasaki aims to finish him off in a kendo stick match at Mayhem. i can't find anything on Scott Rex but Eddie makes him look great. Hot Stuff nedds to regroup to get ready for Morton at Mayhem. Woman does indeed have everything going her way. But will that continue at Mayhem? I don't think Dibiase will ever forget the night he was outsmarted by Captain Redneck! Cocoa proves he's no mere savage as he comes prepared for the Freebirds. Bring on the six man madness at Mayhem. Man the card for Biloxi is looking good. Really hyped for Gauntlet for the Gold.

The World champ doesn't break a sweat as she gets the opening win. Leather gives her a bit of trouble but Simmes still comes out on top & ready to regain the tag titles. Dallas & LeRoux prove to Nasty for the Glamour Girls. After a grueling 2 out of 3 falls match we see the rise of Wendi 3 belts! She really has turned her career all the way around.

It seems Sabu's time in the Crazy Gang is just about up. Coast to Coast pick up their first win over their former teammates. The Anvil is racking up submission wins. Ed Ganter proves it doesn't matter how Tough you are, NOBODY gets up from the Bull Hammer! Camp Cornette gets one up on their respective rivals. Bock & Mr Backlund put on a marathon mat classic. I expect a rematch, perhaps winner takes all?

Bret refuses to get Snow'd in. Mr Backlund may be getting frustrated. Eddie no shows leaving his brothers in the lurch. Then the Wild Things show up & things get even crazier. I like the touch of Tatum & Victory not knowing how to react to the crowd cheering them. Come to think of it, i believe this is their first face run in the game. Pringle seems to be at his wits end trying to corral Sabu. British Steel overcame their recent struggles, but can they overcome TDT to recapture the Pacific tag straps?

NEW CHAMPIONS!!! Tournament final. "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes defeats Big Daddy Ritter w/Slick. After a wild brawl Rhodes inadvertently takes out the ref with a shoulderblock meant for Ritter. Taking advantage of this, Slick scales the ropes with his cane while Ritter holds Rhodes in place. Slick leaps but Rhodes moves at the last second causing the cane to crack over Ritter's head! Rhodes nails Slick with the "Bionic Elbow" before dumping him to the floor. Another "Bionic Elbow" to a dazed Ritter as the ref recovers & 3 seconds later, Dusty Rhodes is heading to the Bash! As Rhodes celebrates with the crowd, a hurting Slick hobbles into the ring & it looks like he's going to check on Ritter. The manager starts getting aggressive however, seemingly blaming his client for the earlier miscommunication. He even starts jabbing his finger into Ritter's chest. Ritter's clearly in no mood & actually shoves Slick backwards earning a bit of a cheer from the audience. Perhaps the headache from the earlier elbow is affecting Slick's judgement but he fired up & slaps Ritter! Slick is once again berating his client when Ritter silences him with a look of pure rage. Slick seems to realize his mistake & turns to leave the ring but Ritter grabs him by the collar before sending him into the ropes & drilling him with a powerslam! Ritter takes a minute to take in the cheers of the crowd, almost as if he doesn't expect to see them again before exiting the ring, leaving his now former manager in a writhing heap.

Radiance (Doug Somers & Jimmy Del Ray) w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel defeat Spartanburg Vice (Jerry Bryant & Lou Winston) when Martel tripped Winston causing him to stumble into a double flapjack. Arn Anderson w/JJ Dillon defeats Steve Armstrong with a Spinebuster. "Shooting Star" Keiichi Yamada defeats "Black Magic" Norman Smiley with the "Shooting Star Press". After the match, a dejected Smiley was approached by Ms Linda & the two left together. NWA United States Title Stan "The Lariat" Hansen(c) defeats Brickhouse Brown with the Lariat. NWA World Tag Team Titles The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/ "Precious" Paul Ellering defeat British Justice (Adrain Street & Giant Haystacks) w/Ms Linda when Animal shocks the crowd by hitting a powerslam on the 600 pound Haystacks! NWA World Heavyweight Title "Nature Boy" Ric Flair(c) defeats "Adorable" Adrian Adonis w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel by DQ when Sherri runs into the ring while Adonis is in figure four & starts stomping Flair with her heels! She keeps attacking him after the bell, the referee tries to pull her off & kicks a punt to the nuts for his trouble. Martel is an absolute madwoman as she continues to attack Flair, even the champ shoving her off only derails her for a minute before hurling herself back at him. Eventually security comes in to pry her off & they eventually manage to carry her away kicking & screaming the whole time. While all this was happening, Adonis stood in the corner with an expression that just screamed "better him then me" an expression he maintained as he trailed behind security as they removed the struggling Martel.

The Wild Bunch show what a couple of real cowboys can do. Peterson blows up on Ligon. Gama show why he's Great while Allen is just Alright. Austin spoils the fans fun & costs his boys the match. Steamboat & Zbysko put on a good show....eventually. Lawler takes down the downtrodden Morrow. Kaz's knee costs him & Brad the gold. Good sportsmanship by the champs. Rich retains as Baby Doll definitely earns her money tonight. Now to deal with Lawller.

It seems Neidhart didn't appreciate the show of respect Mr Backland showed him. British Steel with a monumental win over the former Pacific Tag champs. US Steel puts a dent in Mando. Maeda submits Severns Odd Couple teammate. With no means of escape, Rose falls to the Big Quake. TDT try to avenge their leader causing a double DQ with Finley & Garvin. St Clair puts down Easy Ed putting the pin on an all-around bad night for the Playboy Club.

I do believe there's big things in store for Bam Bam, Garvin sends a convincing message to Roberts. Welp, Ross is dead. Mulligan had better prepare for war. The Rockers mount a successful defense over the legendary Grapplers. Orton & Slater win forearm fest 87...er i mean the battle royal to earn a shot at the tag belts. Casey puts up a hell of a fight but OMG is still king of the Chicago Street Fight. Mulligan, Hall & Spivey vs Devastation Inc in a Blackjack Brawl? Bring it! Ya know, it's kind of incredible how much of Randy's presentation was based on how he treated Elizabeth. Adams lives up to his "gentlemen" moniker & sticks up for Liz, Unfortunately, Randy doesn't react well to people telling him how to handle his woman Roberts puts down the Superstar & is ready for Gorgeous Jimmy. Bigelow pulls double duty to team with the champ & it pays off with a huge main event win. WOW, what a card for American Meltdown! 11 huge matches capped off with a Loser Leaves Town for the top prize.

Mando messed with the Bull & he got the hammer! Sabu's recklessness costs him & Payne. Cannonball crushes the general. Red vs Bubba is the kind of hoss fest that sells everywhere. The Hart bros & Flying Brian win a scorcher with the Knights Templar. Blackman k.o's Tanaka to retain the tag straps.

Rich with a classic heat segment first by lecturing Lawler about overlooking Morrow while not bothering to remember Blsckwell's name, then he cheapshots Lawler before hiding behind a woman. I got a feeling he's got something planned for the Rupp Arena, the path before Lawler is too easy. El Canek impresses before he defends against Gama in the Mecca. I can respect The Olympians not wanting to pass up a title shot but facing Jumbo & Fujinami at less then 100% is not a smart move. Morgan shows his fellow Aussie how it's done. I agree with Blackwell, Rich would be wise to take him extremely seriously. Polynesian Power is off to a hot start. No more Mr nice Billy Jack. Glamour Boys/Original MDE round 2 is set for the Rupp Arena. Command Boone clarifies his motive. This could be a fun angle. Morrow has hit rock bottom. Luckily he has a friend like Brenda to help in his time of need. The Z-man is back & looking for retribution. Kelly claims a count out win over the TV champ thanks to the Vin Man. It is announced that after careful review of the footage, the wrong member of the Celestial Trinity was indeed pinned at the "Memorial Day Spectacular". As such, the NWA championship commettie has declared a rematch will take place on the 14th in Charlotte. Also announced for Charlotte is a one night 8 man tournament to determine who will challenge for the NWA United States Championship at the Great American Bash. It is announced that due to the chaotic ending of their match at the "Memorial Day Spectacular", The Road Warriors will defend the NWA World Tag Team Titles against The Outlaws, one more time at the Great American Bash... inside a steel cage!

From the Cumberland County Memorial Auditorium in Fayetteville NC. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone Ring announcer: David Crockett Previously recorded/Airing on 6/11/87 on the USA Network. EL Santo Negro vs "Black Magic" Norman Smiley An exciting contrast of styles to start us off this week. Santo's lucha libre offense always does a great job getting the crowd excited while Smiley again impresses with his prodigious technical ability. Curiously Ms Linda is seen observing the match from the aisle, though she makes no attempt to get involved. After an exhilarating back and forth, Smiley takes advantage of a missed Missle dropkick to lock in the "Norman Conquest" for the submission victory. While it's not clear he ever noticed her presence, commentary note that Ms Linda looked quite pleased with the young Englishman's display. "Super Rookie" Hiroshi Hase vs "Iron Fist" Duke Myers We go from a prodigy from across the pond to a prodigy from the land of the rising sun. Don Bass accompanies Myers to ringside and makes an attempt to aide his partner but is caught. While this is grounds for disqualification, referee Theodore Long chooses to simply eject Myers from ringside & allows the match to continue. With the playing field even, Hase's superior technique allows him to take control culminating in the win via the "Scorpion Death Lock" Iceman Parsons w/Slick vs "Lone Star" Brian Adidas Commentary mention that these two got to know each other very well from various Texas territories. This is demonstrated by repeated instances of each man countering or otherwise avoiding the others signature spots. As he so often manages to do, Slick proves the difference maker. Seeing his client trapped in the dreaded "Oriental Spike" Slick jumps onto the apron & throws his fedora into the ring. When referee Randy Anderson goes to return his hat & get the annoying manager to return to his assigned corner, Parsons takes the opportunity for a desperation mule kick allowing him to break free. Anderson turns around just in time to see Iceman hit a Piledriver for the tainted win. The Kansas Jayhawks (Bobby Jaggers & Dutch Mantel) vs Fire & Flame Like the Celestial Trinity the previous week, the Jayhawks clearly have some frustration to work out. While the two masked men got in just enough offense to prevent this from being a total squash, the ending is never in doubt. Jaggers sends Flame into the ropes & catches him coming back for a back elbow then a running elbowdrop for the 1...2...3. "The Polynesian Prince" Siva Afi vs "Adorable" Adrian Adonis w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel Fans of CCW well remember that Martel & Adonis have worked together before to rather entertaining results. Reuniting with his old valet seemed to light a fire in Adonis who layed into his opponent with some hard shots. The popular Polynesian wasn't about to roll over however & returned every clubbing punch or forearm with a blistering chop. The result was something that at times appeared more of a fight then a match, making it something of a surprise when Adonis managed to synch In "Goodnight Irene". Afi refused to give up struggling mightily until he finally just passed out. Nick Patrick called the match & had to pry Adonis off his unconscious opponent, much to the enjoyment of Martel. Staff work to rececitate Afi as commentary hype Adonis as a top contender for any title in the NWA. NWA World Television Title Tom "MegaMan" McGee(c) vs Joel "Dead Eye" Deaton This is Deaton's biggest opportunity yet in the NWA & he fights like it. His strategy seems to be "hit him until he stops moving then win the title" & to his credit he does a good job, raining down heavy blows which have the champ realing at several points. He even gets McGee in position for a bulldog attempt but he's shoved off just as he jumps causing him to crash to the canvas.
