  1. Ladd issues perhaps his most controversial ruling yetbut at least he explains himself & there is a logic there. Also the image of Barby just runnig off into the woods after being ditched is hilarious. The trio of Wahoo, JYD & Dr Death are looking to claim all the gold in Mid-South. A couple of rough interviews for Solie, Though Dark Journey's explaination was worth a chuckle. OK Solie's reaction to Wright was just perfect. Christian Wrestlers Association? NEW Spoiler? Classic. What a stacked battle royal, Jumbo is coming! Plus Ladd promises to reveal the location of night 2 of the Ted Turner Cup as well as who's in it next week. The original Spoiler isn't impressed with his replacement & is bringing in Brad Armstrong to even the odds. A timely distraction from Eddie & Missy allows Nikita to retain the Revolution Championship. What a card for Jackson.
  2. First we stop by Bratvia. Casey has really turned his career in Chicago around. A win over Kabuki might just put him in title contention. The Nastys continue their march to regain the tag titles. Murdoch arrives with a win. Windy City is getting some serious wild west vibes. The Rockers new attitude is cemented with a beatdown on the Rock n Roll Express leading to Slater & Orton retaining. The Warriors are back on the winning track. Roberts breezes past the Conquistador but Garvin & Savage show up to ruin the mood. Adams tries to do the right thing but it backfires terribly. Koko was game but Reed was just too strong. The Barbarian is a perfect fit with Jones & a great choice of the Chicago Street Fight champ. The Untouchables have all the gold! Hall & Spivey defeat Akbar's Savages in a wild one. Could gold be in their future? Race retains over Adams by the skin of his teeth but the Beast of the East is on his trail. Onto the TV tapings. Episode 5 had the beef between the Rockers & the Express heating up fast. Garvin & Savage make for an interesting duo with the contrast between Precious & Liz being pretty stark. The Untouchables have all the gold but that also means they've got all the focus on them. Ep 6 has a main event I'd gladly pay to see, Murdoch vs Slater! "He of many nicknames" Scott Casey is gunning for the Barbarian. The Jayhawks/Warriors is gonna be fun. The Untouchables have a hard night in Des Moines but I'm sure they've got a plan.
  3. Blackwell & Iaukea's Killers make strong showings. Zenk wins with seconds to spare & the close loss infuriates Taylor. A Glamour Boys sends Hickerson into a rampage. I get the feeling Gama is smart enough to not bother complaining to Iaukea about this DQ. The Japanese trio triumph giving Jumbo & Fujinami plenty of cause for a rematch. Baby Doll's purse nearly wins it for Rich/Idol but Perez's quick thinking saved it.
  4. Kelly & Vin Man throwing a fit is fun start to the show. Larry Z is the heat magnet he was born to be. OGMNE vs The Bombers sounds like a great way to spend 10 minutes. Dream Machine tries to help his Compadre beat down the Bullet but Keirn makes for Fabulous calvary. Wild Bunch's use of the branding iron let's them steal a win from the Cripplers. Cobra gets plenty of shine but a snake just can't match a dragon. Armstrong returns the favor allowing Keirn to win the main event & get a crack at Madril with the bat.
  5. British Steel prepare to challenge the current Golden State Tag champs by defeating the former title holders. The elder Malenko wins a clinic against Mando. Steel deters Young's attempt to prove himself. Hector falls victim to OMG. Mr Backlund is not impressed by his students performance of late. St Clair goes on a safari & bags himself a big Cat.
  6. Lance running down a stacked show tonight with major title implications throughout. Then to top it off he reveals a huge 6 man tag for the weekend. Bruise Brothers take offense then take it out on their opponents. Yahtzee, lol. Strong wins a tough match against rival Peterson & now has a shot at the TV title in the Alumni Coliseum. Hickerson & Brooks aren't letting that beating they got 2 weeks ago psyche them out. Kirchner v Zbyszko is on for Richmond. Definitely looking forward to seeing if the Corporal can shut Larry Z up. Gotta give Taylor credit, he doesn't seem to be sweating War Games. Kirchner's night isn't over as he neutralizes Gama allowing The Technicians to punch their ticket to Collision in the Coliseum. A contract signing in wrestling? What could go wrong? If Blackwell & Morgan don't tear the building down then the anything goes tag match will. Brenda's right, an open challenge is a big risk. Before War Games we get the Battle of the Heartthrobs. Boone may have gotten DQ'd but it's Buisick that looks like a loser thanks to Strong's blindside. The Coliseum show truly is shaping up to be something big.
  7. Taped at the Bayfront Center before WCW. Originally airing on 7/24/87 on the USA Network. With your host "The Dean of professional wrestling" Gordon Solie. Brickhouse Brown defeats Punisher with a swinging neckbreacker. The Stud Stable (Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden) defeat The Interns (1&2) with a Spike Piledriver on Intern #2. "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez defeats "Tough" Tony Falk with the "Flying Burrito" Main event. Winner challenges for the NWA World Television Title on next week's WCW. "Superstar" Bill Dundee w/Ms Linda defeats "Super Rookie" Hiroshi Hase after Ms Linda hits Hase in the head with her purse. In other news.... Another video hyping the arrival of Rocky Johnson with the graphic now reading "The Soul Man arrives next week on WCW!" As promised Solie reveals that the Labor Day Spectacular will be airing live from the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond VA on September 5th. Matches will be announced in the coming weeks. Solie also announced that the main event for next weeks WCW will be a battle royal with the winner challenging for the NWA World Heavyweight Title at the big event.
  8. From the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg FL. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone Ring Announcer: David Crockett Previously recorded/Airing on 7/23/87 the USA Network. "The Candyman" Ray Candy vs "Chief" Joe Lightfoot After Lightfoot's behavior during & after his victory over Sweet Brown Sugar last week, Candy requested this match to get some payback. In a new addition to his look, Lightfoot brings what commentary describes as an "Indian warclub' to the ring with him. The match itself is a straight forward brawl with the ending comes as Candy is pounding on Lightfoot in the corner. When the ref pulls Candy back, Lightfoot retrieves the "warclub" & when Candy shoves the ref away Lightfoot nails him in the head with it. The ref turns around just in time for Lightfoot to have thrown the weapon outside & make the pin for the 1...2...3. "The Polynesian Prince" Siva Afi vs Barry O Afi is decidedly unimpressed by Barry's strutting around the ring & let's him know it with a series of blistering chops. We get a nice back-and-forth where you get the feeling Barry could win but his showboating keeps costing him. This plays into the finish as he has Afi in a vulnerable position but takes the time to make his "big O" gesture to the fans causing him to turn around into a jumping headbutt with defeat following immediately afterwards. The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) vs The Dirty White Boys (Len Denton & Tony Anthony) The Bees high speed offense collides with the DWB's rough & tumble southern brawling in a clash of styles that keeps the fans hooked throughout. It breaks down towards the end with all 4 men in the ring which allows Denton to kick Brunzell with the head with his "loaded" boot for the win. Bruiser Brody vs "Iron Fist" Duke Myers Give Myers credit, if he's intimidated he does a decent job hiding it & doesn't shy away throwing hands with the towering madman. Though he lands some good, stiff shots this is clearly Brody's match with the pin being academic after the "King Kong Knee Drop" NWA World Television Title Tom "MegaMan" McGee vs Zodiac Jason & AoD accompany Zodiac to the ring but the ref sends them to the back before ringing the bell. The masked man clearly has the champ off his game, attacking from every angle & using any sneaky trick he can think of. McGee struggles for a bit but Is eventually able to rally & retain with the slingshot legdrop. Main event. "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes vs Ole Anderson w/JJ Dillon One of the most iconic feuds in the history of the Florida/Georgia territories makes its way to the USA Network. These two give the viewing audience a taste of what they can do as they really tear into each other. As we're approaching the end of TV time, Dusty has Ole rocking with quick jabs & is winding up for the "flip, flop & fly" when Arn Anderson & Buddy Landel storm the ring. We get a 3-1 beatdown as the ref calls for the bell. Suddenly the crowd erupt as Ric Flair & Manny Fernandez charge down the aisle. The Andersons try to cut them off but their arrival gives Rhodes enough breathing room to mount his own comeback & the show goes off the air with the scene of all 6 men pounding away on each other.
  9. Wanted to let you guys know I'll be skipping the house shows for the next couple weeks. The main reason is that I usually use wrestlingdata.com to place them but as JCP was running the Great American Bash as a tour with many of the shows outside my territory, it's really thrown off my system. Also this should help me catch up quicker. Just wanted to let y'all know.
  10. Garvin & Tenta tangle with Rose's enforcers with Garvin k.o-ing Easy Ed for the win. Furnas out-muscles Konnan. Coast 2 Coast take a walk on the Wild side. Good thing the ref laid down the law. Finlay has friends to run interference allowing him to get one over on the Playboy Black Gold retain against the deserter Cactus & the unhinged Sabu. Hennig gives his all but Bockwinkel has too many tricks up his sleeve.
  11. The Army & Los Guerreros attempt to subdue the Wild Things is off to a rocky start. Windham gets payback on Payne for last week. Young costs Neidhart a win, I wonder what Mr Backlund will have to say about this. Hart seems to make a play towards the Pride.... And just in time as he seems to have given up on his current(?) tag team. Bockwinkel finally gets a pin on Haynes but he won't have Cornette to help in Phoenix.
  12. Nellie takes what could be the first step to the world title. Devine gets the win but suffers for it. Mitchell throws Devine to the wolves, this doesn't bode well for their partnership. Simmes outsmarts the monster. Hope she got outta there quickly. Richter's ego almost costs her against Apache. Majors gives the Giant Slayers a win in their feud with the Glamour Girls. Medusa closes the match with a solid win to show why she's Queen of the hill.
  13. I imagine Steiner & Freight Train was a hard hitting opener. Prichard wins the battle of beauty vs beast. Spoiler locks on the claw but Wright & Stevens brought backup. The Mad Dog flys earning him & Brett a spot in the tournament. Blanchard definitely drew serious heat beating a Armstrong in Alabama. Loading the mask blows up in the Nightmare's face. Boyd brings victory with the flagpole. JYD may have gotten the pin but it looks like Williams is calling dibs on the title shot. The recap was a fun intro to the TV show but I'm glad to have a proper posting for a Revolution house show.
  14. An eventful couple of episodes of UWF Power Hour. Luger & Muta! What a pair to take on Bruno's misfits. Speaking of whom, it seems Bruno has managed to get his boys title shots pretty quickly. Benoit admits Embry had his number but requests a rematch. The Flamboyant one says he has to earn it by beating... the Brooklyn Brawler? I've been wondering what was up with Scott Rex cause I couldn't find anything on him. Well he returns to the UWF & reveals he's actually Scott Steiner! I noticed he said it was Eddie & Missy who told him to change his name, I wonder what Rick thinks of that? Borne pays for his mistake with his title & it looks like Million Dollar Inc has arrived!
  15. British Bombers & Boone start the night with some solid wins. Vin Man accidentally costs his man & Billy Jack against Dynamite & the Powerhouse. It takes 3 men to take down Brown. Polynesian Power & Blackwell/Morgan & Iaukea's killers ends in...chaos? Who could've predicted that? Gama puts in a strong effort but can't overcome the Dragon. Madril wins for his team but Armstrong & Zenk will be getting all the headlines. Bad News retains in a slobberknocker. He really is the AWA's top dog.
  16. Taped at the Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg SC. Originally airing on 7/17/87 on the USA Network. With your host "The Dean of professional wrestling" Gordon Solie. "Shooting Star" Keiichi Yamada defeats Dusty Wolfe with the "Shooting Star Press". "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel w/JJ Dillon defeats "Stray Cat" Brodie Chase with the Corkscrew elbowdrop. The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) defeat Executioner & Thunderfoot with a double dropkick on Executioner. Winner challenges for the NWA World Television Title next week on WCW. Zodiac defeats Ranger Ross with a distraction from Angel of Death & a handful of tights. In other news.... Solie announces the NWA will be hosting a Labor Day Spectacular on September 5th which will be airing live on the USA Network. Details will be revealed in the following weeks & he'll be announcing the venue next week. Another video package hyping the arrival of Rocky Johnson. Solie dubs Johnson "one of the most entertaining athletes in the sport today"
  17. From the Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg SC. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone. Ring Announcer: David Crockett Previously recorded/Airing on 7/16/87 Spartanburg Vice (Jerry Bryant & Lou Winston) vs Fire & Flame While the two masked men do manage to isolate Bryant for a period & land some solid blows, the hot tag to Winston turns the tide & leads to the win via the "Spartanburg Special". Commentary hype the budding rivalry with The New Breed throughout. Sweet Brown Sugar vs "Chief" Joe Lightfoot SBS uses his speed to frustrate Lightfoot early & manages a couple near falls. The self appointed "Chief of the NWA" regroups on the floor & takes it to Brown with agressive brawling as well as stretching the rules as far as he can without breaking them. With the crowd behind him Sugar manages a few rallies but Lightfoot shuts them down usually with a blow to the leg. This serves as perfect set-up for the Indian Death Lock & while SBS resists for a while, the inevitable submission. Lightfoot refuses to break the hold despite referee instructions but thankfully Ray Candy runs down before permanent injury can be done. Candy can be heard inviting Lightfoot back in the ring but Lightfoot simply collects his ornate headdress & walks away. The S&S Express (Joe Savoldi & Shaun Simpson) vs The New Breed (Chris Champion Sean Royal) Commentary hype the Express' big win in the Texas Tornado match at the Bash & place them at the front of the line for title contention. The New Breed are determined to move up the ranks themselves & really bring it, particularly working over Simpson. Savoldi gets the tag & is a house of fire. After an intense match, The "Express Lane" secures the win for the Express but the New Breed still made an impression. TS: Ladies and gentlemen, my guest at this time is the man who's appearance on last week's episode of WCW shocked the wrestling world. Here is "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel! (Massive heat as Landel struts to the ring which gets cranked even higher when JJ Dillon follows behind) TS: Buddy Landel you're no stranger to being the center of controversy throughout your career & last week was no exception. You show up unannounced & to my knowledge at least uninvited, interrupt the main event & to top it off you do so by assaulting the World Champion & seemingly aligning yourself with the Horsemen. I think I speak for our entire audience when I say you two have some explaining to do. BL: You want an explanation? OK I'll explain it to you & I'll use small words so these South Carolina hillbillies can understand. *Boos* I know, I know the truth hurts but it's not my fault you losers are stuck in this backwater you try & pass off as a state. *Louder Boos* But back to your question Scha... actually you know what? I've got a question for you. Do you know the significance of May 31st 1985? TS: *confused* Can't say that I do, why? BL: Well Skee-a-vone I'd normally blast your shameful ignorance but I understand you're from Georgia so I'll let it slide... this time. Allow me to educate you & your fellow hayseeds but do me a favor & try to pay me the attention you clearly didn't pay in school. *Deafening Boos*. May 31st 1985 was the night the AWA -not the current version which only exist so Jerry Jarrett can keep putting World Titles on beloved Jerry "The Burger King" Lawler but the version before that...or the one before that, there's been so many it's getting hard to keep track but I digress- whichever version it was held an event called "Rage in the Cage" in Ric Flair's real hometown of Minneapolis Minnesota. And it was on that night in the main event *some fan yells "you were third from the top* Boy any match I'm in is the main event know sit down & shut up! As I was saying it was on that night in the MAIN EVENT that I, the REAL NATURE BOY overcome two broken legs, a fractured neck & a double concussion to whoop that 5th rate Buddy Landel knockoff in under 5 minutes! I beat him so bad he had to run back to Jim Crackpot or whatever his stupid name is to beg for a job. And I was content to let it end there but then I get a phone call from JJ here explaining that not only has "Slick Ric" politic-ed his way to the World Title but he screwed over my close, personal friend Tully Blanchard to do it! Well I wasn't about to stand for that! So now here we are Buddy Landel is signed with the Horsemen & the NWA is about to find out what the AWA already learned, that there's only ONE true Nature Boy in this business & it's the same man who's your next NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Main event. NWA World Television Title Tom "MegaMan" McGee(c) vs Black Bart The burly Texan had a straight forward strategy for becoming the new TV champ, hit McGee till he stopped moving then pin him. To hi credit, he did a fine job on the first half, and "MegaMan" was bruised & battered towards the end of the match. The second half however proved tougher to pull off as no matter how much punishment the Pampa native dished out, McGee just kept coming back for more to Bart's mounting frustration. This frustration may have cost him as he took too much time jaw-jacking with fans as he climbed the ropes for the "Texas Trash Compactor" allowing McGee to roll towards the corner avoiding the blow. Wasting just enough time to properly adjust Bart's positioning, he left the ring before immediately re-entering with the slingshot legdrop for the win in his most painful defense yet.
  18. Wahoo & JYD hold no hard feelings towards the Russians, even getting them their best gift yet? What's in the box? Nightmares throwing a fit about the Lightning Express' mystery partner was great especially Solie's reaction. Ladd really is going for fair play, good for him. That message to Straightedge cracked me up. The Ted Turner Cup is shaping up nicely with night 1 scheduled for the Sportatorium. Prichard arrives on the scene & reveals he's still on good terms with the Freebirds. Missy gets herself a magazine cover, the Gilberts have a chance to qualify for the Ted Turner Cup & Steiner gets a win over Cash. Everything's coming up Hyatt International. Wright & Stevens have really grown on me as a duo. Gordy outfights Boyd to give the Freebirds an edge in the war against the Commonwealth. Dr Death was in the Box! Now that was a great surprise. I agree with Solie, something's up with Kazmaier & Tully definitely knows something. Birmingham is in for a wild night.
  19. The Glamour Boys are fired up & ready for a fight. Kelly & Vin Man call out Putski. Oliver is looking good ahead of his shot at the World Title. Zbyszko may be tired of talking about Perez but Kirchner has something to say. Morgan dominates before what promises to be a chaotic 6 man tag. Taylor & Kiern both interfere on the road to a Zenk win. Brenda reveals a major #1 contenders match for next week. Polynesian Power is on the hunt. Rich v Lawler ends in pandemonium as Dream, Idol & Armstrong all get involved. Jarrett drops massive announcements for Collision in the Coliseum which ignites the fans but draws the ire of Bad News.
  20. Phoenix Firestorm always brings the heat & with these main events, this year shall be no different.
  21. Tenta wins the clash of the behemoths. Rose outsmarts Regal leading to a victory. Vicious obsession with Konnan costs his team. US Steel can't withstand the Bill Hammer. BT & Pillman go the distance. Rematch! The MNE reach into their bag of tricks to defeat The Warriors. Do I sense a rift developing between Badd Company & Gary Hart? Either way it seems they've decided to pull back on the rule breaking.
  22. Owen brings victory to the Snowbirds in front of his fellow Canadians. Dean may not know 1,000 holds yet but he only needed one to tap out Mando. OMG lets Windham know their beef isn't over yet. Payne tries to pile on but luckily Billy Jack & Texas Red are on hand. Brookside nets a flash win perhaps earning British Steel a Golden State Tag Title shot. Hart gets plenty of shine but he's not ready to dethrone Mr Backlund....yet. Windham pays Billy Jack & Texas Red for their help & it leads to Haynes getting a pin on the PCW Heavyweight Champion.
  23. WWW has never had more intimidating trios champions than Richter & The Monsters. I've often wondered why a Vegas based company was using a Texas title, especially since there was already a secondary title in the Fighting Spirit Championship. Excited for you NWA United States Women's championship. Also like how there's a hierarchy here with a built in way for wrestlers to progress from one belt to the next. It'll work wonders when you want to strap a rocket on someone's back. Medusa & Moretti in a cage! Shut up & take my money. Kai clearly understands the significance of the new title rules. Luna with a tough loss but maybe makes some new friends? McIntyre is the perfect legitimizer for the new title. Let's see how this affects things with Medusa. They're happy now but what happens if Velvet gets that title shot?
  24. Sorry I was more focused on the pic than the name.
  25. Furnas gets a chance to flex. Young's issues towards Neidhart cost them the win. Mr Backlund had best address this issue & fast. The Army & Los Guerreros reach an agreement to wrangle the Wild Things. Maeda taps out the younger Malenko but it seems the future "Iceman" has caught Hart's eye. St Clair takes a walk on the wild side but emerges with the TV title still secured.
