He was never built as well as Austin. Austin had a "cool" every man's look (bald head, goatee, balck trunks, skull shirts). Austin rocked it on the mic. I don't know of too many pre-Goldust Dustin promos worth watching. Not saying they don't exist. I am saying I don't know which ones are Austin worthy.

Dustin as Dusty-lite would not be a main player. Dustin who undergoes a Golduest-esque transformation could have been a main event player. I am not saying he becomes Goldust. I am simply arguing that he needed a major image change to be a player in nWo era WCW.

Will and Charles are joined by Childs Walker of the Baltimore Sun and historian Kris Zellner to give a primer on Japanese wrestling. They discuss the origins of pro wrestling in Japan and provide background on the major players, stylistic shifts and booking in the 1970s and 1980s. They also recommend matches in both the big and small Japanese promotions, discuss the rise All Japan and New Japan and much more! If you have ever wanted to explore Japanese wrestling, but you weren’t quite sure where to start or what to check out, this is the show for you. DISCLAIMER: Please forgive the audio issues that plague us throughout the show. http://placetobenation.com/wrestling-with-...tling-part-one/

Watching 1994 Lawler footage now and the Dream Machine feud is so awesome. Just curious... Troy Graham was all over Memphis TV in the early 1980s. He disappears and then pops up ten years later. Where did he go?
-
Yeah, plus that is Bob in Japan where he isn't going to play traditional babyface anyway.
-
I get confused... is that the arena match, the barbed wire match or the studio match?
-
Oh fuck... listen to the 2nd part of the Austin/Cornette interview now. The Condrey Hickerson Tojo rib is one of the greatest stories I have ever heard.

Thanks man. That is the goal from the beginning. If we have more than one guy on, I take a backseat. If its just me and Charles, we bounce off each other. We have been rehearsing on the phone for ten years.

Good Will Wrestling – Top Five Lists
goodhelmet replied to goodhelmet's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Yeah, you could tell as the other guys were dropping names, we kept thinking "Fuck, how did I forget about that guy". So many guys. I forgot Jake the Snake on my list of promos. Naylor forgot Dusty fucking Rhodes. It is part of the fun in doing shows like these. -
Northern Lights Bomb... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynpWXL0xDys
-
We're trying to find as much as we can for the 80s project.
-
Well, yeah, the Northern lights bomb would destroy a duplex.
-
I don't even remember that move in the game. Why isn't the Northern Lights suplex in the discussion?

[1990-01-20-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Junkyard Dog
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in January 1990
I amy have found a complete version for the Jerry Lawler Part 2 set, Brad. That commercial break may or may not be included.- 17 replies

If we ever make it to an addendum set, we need to include Vader vs. Sting from Slamboree 1994. That is a matchup that should be included every time the same way we include every Misawa-Kawada or Flair-Steamboat match. Great focus by Vader on the ribs. Great comebacks by Sting that get squashed by nasty counters. Super fun match.

[1994-05-22-WCW-Slamboree] Ric Flair vs Barry Windham
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
I watched the thing in its entirety and we were right in making it JIP. The previous matches had great transitions you could pinpoint where the tide turned. Here, we get the kick chop transitions between control segments and it was lame. The final stretch run was good but ruined with the horrid ending. Fuck, Barry should not be in the ring at this point. Sad.- 15 replies

[1994-05-22-WCW-Slamboree] Terry Funk vs Tully Blanchard
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
I thought this was lame the way it all ended. Great atmosphere and Funk was bringing the fire and sick spots. Then it just ended with a botched spot and I felt let down. Bleh.- 11 replies

[1994-05-22-WCW-Slamboree] Dustin Rhodes vs Bunkhouse Buck (Bullrope)
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
El-P is so off on Golden it isn't funny. We all have our blind spots. This was pretty brutal. I love how the crotch spot was a theme that played throughout the whole match. Whenever Dustin needed a big swing in momentum, a crotch spot was opening up. Stiff sick belt shots and some nice nut busting psych to go with it. Wish there was blood but this was too fun to penalize. -
I disagree with Ronnie. While I thought Stampede had too much Attitude Era wandering around , this one felt violent, out of control and more Memphis like. One of my favorite moments was when Cactus smashes Saggs with the trash can to prevent him from attacking Sullivan and then throwing it on Knobbs toes to incapacitate him.

[1994-05-22-WCW-Slamboree] Steven Regal vs Larry Zbyszko
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in May 1994
You guys summed it up pretty well. One of my favorite moments is during the ab stretch... while Larry is arguing with the ref, Regal takes the opportunity to grab the foot and set up Larry for the hiptoss pin. Exhibit 397 on why you have to pay attention to everything that Regal does. The finish was abrupt but sets up a great series of matches so no complaints. -
Chris Jericho & Christian vs. Booker T & Goldust (RAW 12/23/02)
