Excellent analysis, Jerry!!!!

Dude, our discussion was over the moment you called the people here sheep. It's time to move on. I am more interested in hearing from people who actually want to discuss the matches and explain why they are good, bad or whatever. You have done nothing but criticize the very board and posters you are posting on and haven't done anything to further the topic itself. At least I am offering people a chance to view the stuff that is in the thread.
-
Ugh. I think you are on the wrong board if you think I am not getting a shill in.
-
I edited out the "technical" from the question. Some people may enjoy him but not think of him as a great technical wrestler. Don't want to stifle anyone's praise.
-
I created a thread for you to argue how great Angle is and what he does that makes you such a fan. As for the Smackdown Six... there is an eight disc comp people can pick up in the MMT folder for those who want to relive that era.
-
Here you go Angle fans. This is your forum to make an argument FOR Angle as a great wrestler.
-
Oh fuck.. there is a Benoit thread here so I don't want to reopen the Benoit case again but because he killed his family, some of us can never watch a Benoit match the same way again. I like the Michael Jackson comparison because there are a shitload of people who probably don't listen to his music because of his pedophilia. The Angle-Benoit match is one example of the things that Angle tends to do regularly that people don't like about Angle. Final point.. the people who don't like Angle either Hate Meltzer or are sheep... not because they think he does annoying shit that makes people roll their eyes and quickly go looking for better wrestling.

This is complete bullshit. There are plenty of detailed examples in here of why people do not like Kurt Angle. This is also a place where tons of people do not like Edge. Add the stink of Benoit and why would people praise it? That is three of the six guys who people may not enjoy. When they are in the majority of the matches, people are going to be cold to the product. Again, I've never seen hate for the SD6 until this thread. Even if you didn't like some of them for whatever oversmarked out reason, you still had Brock, Hardy, Show, Taijiri and others mixing with them to put on good performances. What's the stink of Benoit in ring? That's the first I've ever heard of it. I never liked Edge until the end of his run and even he performed very well in his role. And on to Angle, the hate for him is honestly overblown and half there because of Meltzer's love for him. Pretty sure most of the people who rip on him haven't even watched him regularly for years, if ever. Reminds me a lot of the infamous HBK DVDVR thread where people were saying Snitsky was a better worker or the Tiger Mask is the worst wrestler ever propaganda. The stink on Benoit is that he killed his family and some people do not enjoy watching him in the ring. Again... I call bullshit. You have several criticisms of the Benoit-Angle match where people had revisited this match recently. This thread opens up discussion of the SD6 and it gives people reason to post when they didn't feel the need prior to the thread being started. As for Angle, people started hating him because Meltzer loves him? Do you really think a Phil Schneider or Dylan Waco or whatever other Angle hater is out there gives two shits if Meltzer has a hard on for Angle?

Meltzer wrote in this week's Observer.... So... Rumble win and Mania title win?

I would throw in Mil Mascaras, Dos Caras and Alberto Del Rio into the mix just to further discussion.

You tell me Parv... would London be a more expensive venue to run with higher overhead than Cardiff? Somebody told me London was the most expensive city in the world for everything. -
Note to self: ban Slasher for catching my bad grammar.

As am I. But you went to school. How much of the kids in your school, from elementary through high school, would regularly talk about an old TV show that was repeated the prior day... or something current? --- I don't remember talking about old shows or new shows at school. It was sports and toys. Same with music? --- Once again, this isn't as cut and dry as me being the odd ball. I grew up on military bases so my friends all had different influences in music. I learned about so much old music through friends who really were just listening to their parents music. Of course MTV and VH1 were around playing new songs AND old songs. Was anything bigger than 1984 or Thriller or Purple Rain at the time? Probably not but we weren't oblivious to it the same way I feel like kids today are oblivious to stuff that happened just 5-10 years ago. Same with movies? --- Again, not as cut and dry. We went to the theatre to watch new movies but it was real common to find kids watching old movies on their VCRs back in the 80s.

Orton vs. Hall is an interesting one because I could care less about either guy. However, in terms of volume of good-great matches, Orton wins easily. At this point in time, I prefer to watch Dragon over Bob. I love Bob's best matches but I love watching DB in all settings. I was going to say Rude but I think when you combine his Portland and AWA runs, Hennig probably has the edge.

Fuck yeah, Resident Evil is back!!!!

I wonder how the data was collected and if it was collected in 2008 when Taker and Edge were the main event of Wrestlemania. That was the first thing I thought of when i saw that list. Also wondering if Vijay Singh won a golf tournament of note around that time.

I am the wrong person to ask John because I actually cared more about old music. I was listening to my sister's classic heavy metal albums at age 8. I had most of the Beatles and Stones classic albums by the end of middle school and I wrote a book for a high school project on my favorite songs from the 50s and 60s. For TV, it depends. I didn't record every episode of the Cosbys or Cheers. I did record every episode of the old Batman series when it was on that Christian network. Brady Bunch was just as much a part of my childhood as GI Joe or Transformers. As for old sports or wrestling., I wasn't old enough to be hip to the trading scene or the Observer. I would have been happy to watch old wrestling but I didn't have access to it. Same thing with sports. I could only read about the old shit because they weren't replaying a lot of old games. For movies, we had tons of old movies on VHS. At this point, it would be about individual movies, not whether they were old or new. It isn't always a question of what is old or new but what you are exposed to. Take Exposer.... the guy might be the youngest poster on the board. Because of his brother, he was exposed to a shitload of old wrestling and he comments on old wrestling as much if not more than current product.

I am going to say that in America, from 1980-1988 or so, you probably have a generation of kids (including me) who were invested in music and television shows from the past because shows that were around before my time (Brady Bunch, The Monkees, Andy Griffin, Original Batman Series, tons of Nick at Nite Stuff) were as much a part of my generation thanks to cable television and all that time to fill on the new networks.

There's only one generation that matters and that's The Greatest Generation.

Eh, I don't think you have to actually draw money to know what draws money.
