    Current WWE

Maybe it was just me but it sounded like the crowd was really into the Titus-Roman matchup.
  2. . The goal was never to slag Hart. The show really was an open forum to say what you wanted about Bret... Including the idea that he isn't even close to Flair in the GOAT list. It also destroyed the stupid notion that Loss is too involved in the Flair-Bret debate to talk about Hart fairly and critically.

  4. Puerto Rico or Portland.
  5. Smack, I agree. That is how I listen to most podcasts. Too bad we live in a world where people want it to be even more convenient than that and when we are competing with other podcasts just for people's time, that can make the difference in the shows that people listen to.
  6. I have had lots of complaints/concerns about not being able to load this on itunes. I also don't know what an rss feed is.
  7. I went to submit my AWA ballot but needed to fit in the matches from Disc 1. I couldn't remember them so Johnny Sorrow, Kris Zellner & I re-watched the first half. Really enjoyable 2 hours. We are going to try and knock out the 2nd half this weekend so all of the discs will be accounted for. http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/talkC...6382&cmd=tc Matches watched..... Lord Alfred Hayes vs. Bobby Heenan (1/13/80) Greg Gagne vs. Super Destroyer Mark II (5/1/80) Verne Gagne vs. Nick Bockwinkel (7/18/80) Greg Gagne & Super Destroyer Mark II vs. Nick Bockwinkel & Bobby Heenan (10/3/80) Big John Studd & Jerry Blackwell vs. High Flyers (2/20/81) East-West Connection vs. High Flyers (3/1/81) Nick Bockwinkel vs. Pat O'Connor (3/22/81) East-West Connection vs. High Flyers (Cage Match) (3/22/81)

  11. Burt
  12. Actually, we created a forum where you guys can talk Cannonball Run all day long. Take that Burt Reynolds slurping over to the mostly forum. I get annoyed when John starts talking sports/pron instead of talking the rasslin in wrestling threads. I get annoyed when you do it too Jerry. We all are here to have fun but when it gets to the point where the side topic is killing the thread topic, use your better judgment and take it to Mostly. As for what movie would a wrestling promotion represent? Create the thread!!! Also, I am the last guy you want critiquing announcers. I thought Watts always sounded too angry on air. Joel was horrible and I can forgive Boyd Pierce when he has brought me minutes of entertainment with those suits.

  15. I watched it three years ago for a Schneider comp and loved it... 1st Fall Andre starts working the headlock and it is so odd to see somebody turn him over for a headlock pin. Later on, he proceeds to snapmare Andre. Damn. However, Kobayashi keeps Andre grounded, and in a nice visual, hooks Andre in a leg scissorrs and drags his face across the mat. These guys were working. You knew the match was going long but it never felt boring like a Jack Brisco-Dory Funk match. Also, it doesn't matter if it is 1972 or 1982, you gotta love Andre jawing with the fans and blatantly cheating. Andre wins the first fall with a FREAKING TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER!!! Awesome First Fall. 2nd Fall Andre injures his hand so Kobayshi does the logical thing and starts stomping it. Andre does the natural thing and grabs the leg. SK then proceeds to put Andre in an armbar and attacks the hand. Great stuff. More Andre cheating, choking Kobayashi and tangling him up to the ropes to some good heat. When Kobayashi makes a comeback, it really gets the crowd into it. Oh yeah, Kobayashi has some nice punches but his hands look so small connecting with Andre's massive cranium. There were some slow points later on in the fall as Andre goes back to the leg. Not fun to watch but logical since Kobayashi was getting the best of him early in the round. Andre gets himself disqualified to end the 2nd round. Not as fun as the first round but still solid. 3rd Fall Andre goes back to choking Kobayashi but gets tangled in the ropes. KObayashi rams him several times but Andre escapes and SK takes a nasty spill to the floor. Nice way to start the fall. Awkward spot as Andre fallas flat on his face and SK attempts a Boston Crab. However, Andre powers out with a twist. Whoa... Lucha Andre. When he finally gets it hooked, the crowd erupts but Andre is saved by the ropes. OH FUCK, Andre offers his hand in friendshipalmost 40 minutes in and KObayashi accepts and kicks him in the gut. Hell, he then puts Andre in a freaking bearhug, working on the back he was working on earlier with the crab. The end of this fall is insane and Andre is so fucking great. Andre the cheating, big move, bumping machine, chickenshit foreigner. Badass. Kobayashi as Andre's near equal in power but still the underdog native. Badass. These guys went 40 minutes and while there were some slow spots it really flew by. DEFINITE NOMINATION!!!
  16. It's going to be a longer catch up because we just recorded another one tonight.
  17. Shit... Completely forgot Watts had Jim Ross.
  18. If I was going to work out some sort of criteria for comparison it would be something like: - Match quality ("no. of great matches") - Booking quality (long-term storylines, specific angles, character building stuff) - Presentation (everything from announce teams to camera work to entrances) - Key workers (bit of a fugde category but this covers stuff like your promos and general non-match specific traits of the rosters) If I had to dish out ratings then: JCP is on 100 Match Quality, 70 for Booking, 60 for presentation, 95 for workers. WWF is on 60 match quality, 90 for booking, 100 for presentation, 85 for workers. MSW probably 85 match quality, 90 for booking, 85 for presentation, 80 for workers Something like that. I would disagree with you strongly on those JCP rankings. When you add up the final tally on the JCP matches, they might end up with the best wrestling product. However, you sat through a whole lot of nothing some months just to get one good marquee match on TV. Watts was presenting marquee matchups week in and week out since 1983 through 1987. WWF would have a lot of squashes on their syndicated tv but no more than JCP. The Prime Time show also had more featured matchups than JCP even when Superstars was squash city. If presentation takes announcers into consideration, I don't see how JCP gets a 60. I loved the Tony and David team. Watts always had the weakest announce teams of the three.
  19. His best one is Paul Lynde.

  21. I don't need to do a podcast for that.
  22. Besides Manny, who exactly did he duck? Even then, Floyd was right. Manny couldn't maintain his greatness as 1B. Floyd has maintained 1A. Also, taking the Alvarez fight doesn't seem like a sure thing. The guy was younger and stronger and undefeated. He was also slower and inexperienced but was hyped as the next big thing. Floyd dismantled him. Props to Floyd for dismantling him even if the fight was boring as piss.
  23. The real issue is why didn't more wrestlers use one?

    DISC 1

Ore often than not, the matwork in lucha doesn't lead anywhere. If that is going to drive you crazy, be prepared to see it time and again on the set. There are a couple of matches where the limb work does lead to the finish and it really stands out.
  25. That Ahmed pic is an all time classic.
