1980s Wrestling Party Podcast #5

Every match has Bock or Blackwell ... may not be as bad as I think. I am requesting that Kris Z drop everything he may be doing and join us to defend Bruiser Brody's existence. -
Tuesday night at 9 est / 8 cst. I will definitely be joined by my buddy Johnny P (ECW documentary maker and good guy) and I imagine Sorrow will pop in as well. Everyone is welcomed to join in. These are the matches on deck and with the amount of Brody on here, I am sure I'll need some company to keep me from popping the disc out.... Nick Bockwinkel & Mr. Saito vs. The Fabulous Ones (9/30/84) Crusher Blackwell vs. Bruiser Brody (9/30/84) Crusher Blackwell vs. Bruiser Brody (No DQ) (10/21/84) Nick Bockwinkel & Mr. Saito vs. Curt & Larry Hennig (11/8/84) Crusher Blackwell & King Kong Bundy vs. The Road Warriors (11/22/84) Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig (2/7/85) Crusher Blackwell vs. Masked Superstar (3/7/85)

Speaking of protected... allowing the SHIELD to win match after match over all of the biggest stars is shocking to me.
-
Eh... I don't think it will be an extended feud. Mark Henry was still protected like very few other wrestlers are allowed to be protected.
-
I didn't like Henry not winning the Chamber last night but he was allowed to destroy every other person in the cage. He single handedly took out Hell No! He threw ORton through the pod. He had to take a suplex on the steel (fucking insane), needed all three remaining participants hit a big move, and was allowed to return and destroy the other three with relative ease. Mark Henry isn't going back to the midcard anytime soon. I think he will remain the focal point of SD! when the stupid immigration crap isn't on the air.

1980s Wrestling Party Podcast #3

I have been synching up with Phil for years now watching wrestling. It doesn't affect my view on the matches at all. From the two discs I have watched, my views mirrored my original thoughts 100% of the time, negative or positive. However, when you have a show scheduled, you know you have to be "on", it is relatively easy to talk and observe. Sometimes someone else can articulate what you are feeling so you aren't actually talking 100% of the time. Plus you can have fun with some buds. Nothing wrong with that. -
Yeah, the second it came out of my mouth I realized I fucked up.
-
Sounds about right.
-
Henry/Show is my dream team, but only provided they call themselves "Too Big To Fail." As long as they have a team called the "Bailout", I am down with this.
-
Yeah, the whole Brock-Taker interference thing seemed way more appealing.
-
Punk vs. Rock - Well they went the safe route. Cena vs. Rock. I enjoyed the actual wrestling from the PPV but hated the booking. Might be a show we enjoy a couple of years from now when we divorce our emotions from the booking.
-
SHIELD vs. HAPPY FACES - I didn't thiink this was Holy Shit great but just really great. Easily the best thing on the show. Ryback getting pinned and walking off put it over the top. So glad they are keeping the SHIELD strong. I think that ends at Mania with Ryback dismantling the entire team single handed. Kofo vs. Ziggler - I am bored with both guys. Went to the bathroom. Women's match - I don't pay attention to Divas matches. Wasted energy.
-
Well fuck. As a match, it was fun but the booking was insane. They're going with the teabagger vs. immigrant angle. mark Henry was a beast. Also, every show I have been to, Randy Orton was over as fuck. If you want to say his music is over, I can entertain it. However, with the exception of Cena and Daniel Bryan in the summer, no one gets a bigger reaction than Orton.
-
Well fuck
-
This wait for Henry to come out is maddening.
-
If they can lose the weak Anti-American gimmick and give him another character, I think he'll take off. The gimmick is hurting him. Hell, I liked the whole rugby player thing he was going with early.

The Lawler match was the best Miz match ever. That match was on the road to being better, but the finish fucked it. This

The Lawler match was the best Miz match ever.

I didn't see ADR vs. Big Show. I was enjoying Cesaro vs. Miz and the body part attacks until the finish. The finish was pretty smart on Cesaro's part but that would be a better TV finish.

Disclaimer: Before anyone gets pissy, I am only joking.

My feed is 10 minutes behind everyone else so wait ten minutes before you post your thoughts.

I agree!!! In fact, making it a Six Man War Games E Chamber would have been great.
-
But ja, Ziggler could cash in, which they have been teasing, Jericho wins Chamber and they have another heel-face matchup right there.
-
OK, Chad, if we both disagree on what the predictable route is on most of the matches, it isn't that predictable.
-
OK, so predictable results... Del Rio beats Show... Ziggler cashes in. Team smiley happy face beats the SHEILD Randy Orton wins Elimination Chamber. Then again, you have Jericho, Henry and Swagger complete with anti-immigrant gimmick who could also win. Team Hell No has no shot. Rock beats Punk
