  3. You can safely buy another set. MX will be out before this one. Look for this in late spring, early summer.
  4. It would have to be more discs than the Funk set, eh? Mainly because there is more Lawler footage available and Funk took large chunks of time off.
  5. It was all you.
  6. I don't know yet. Could be 50+
  7. I enjoyed the hell out of this. Just both guys punching the shit out of each other. Lawler attempts a piledriver but Goldust actually lands a nasty one. After that spot, more punching, more nasty shots. This felt like the start of a really great feud. I wish they had a non-comedy 15 minute PPV match where they just beat the shit out of each other.
  8. I can't name 5 great Bam Bam Bigelow singles matches. Maybe you should create the Bam Bam thread.
  9. No, I am talking about this match Johnny and it is the title change .... Rock N Roll Express vs. Ragin' & Ravishin' (TV 12/6/86) - Damn, I would have loved a singles match between Morton and Manny. Early on, Fernandez gets frustrated by the RNR. After an extended RNR shine section, the heels work over Gibson's leg including a nice off the top rope knee from Manny Fernandez. Rude's leg work wasn't really inspired but it was great to see Robert give Rude a backdrop and collapse because of the weakened leg. Next up, after working over Robert's leg, they work over Ricky's arm. After an extended FIP, Gibson comes in and lights up Ragin' Bull. Gibson gets a roll-up but Rude gives him a vicious clotheline that whips Manny on top to give Ragin' & Ravishin' the pin and the titles. You really didn't get too many matches like this on free studio TV back in the day. The weakest point was Rude's offense or lack thereof as you could tell he was still findiing his way but the other three more than made up for it. Nomination.
  10. No... Rock N Roll vs. Ragin' N Ravishin'
  11. I would add a couple of things including the RNR vs. RNR tag title change from 12/86 and the Murdoch vs. Nikita match.
  12. Jerry Lawler/Brian Christopher v. Bill Dundee/Jamie Dundee 3/2/11-EPIC

  14. So yeah... Watched Garvin vs. Bubba and changed my mind on the Starrcade match.

  16. I have to watch the 90s and 00s stuff in depth when I make the set. I also want to see if any more complete 70s matches pop up.
  17. No butt bump.
  18. If meaningfulness is really one of your standards then it kills your depth argument in the JTTS thread.
  19. I agree with this but "which match" is up for debate. However, Lawler has such a large resume, some people may prefer the Funk matchup or Savage matchup or even the Dutch series. It isn't set in stone.
  20. These are my original thoughts on the match when i watched it for the 80s nominations... My new thoughts... Early on, Garvin is punching Bubba square in the face. To get over how tough he is, Bubba is no selling the Hands of STONE! Bubba tries a new strategy trying to goad Bubba into a test of strength, Garvin pops him a couple of times and Bubba goes tumbling out of the ring. Back inside and Bubba tosses Garvin out of the ring a couple of times. Bubba's clubbering looks pretty weak but he sells the shit out of the water splash and Garvin's subsequent punches. His wobbling, collapsing giant sell was pretty great. When Bubba takes over on offense, he runs through some generic offense except a blast with a roll of nickels that got an 8 count and busted Garvin open. Bubba gives Garvin a big splash for a near fall and another 8 count. Garvin fights back and tries to hogtie Bubba. Bubba gets Garvin into a bearhug and Garvin breaks free with some sick headbutts. The piledriver still looks pretty sick but Cornette's shot to Garvin's head looked great to give us the double count. The finish still was the wrong way to go with Cornette taking out Garvin's knee when both guys were being counted but not a deal breaker. FINAL THOUGHTS: I liked this much more the 2nd time around. It also helps that I didn't watch this back to back with the other Starrcades as I watched the Starrcades on a Saturday afternoon marathon. I don't like it as much as the Manny-Abdullah fight but it may be comparable to the Garvin-Black Bart fight which I nominated. Bubba's offense was nothing to write home about but his wobbly selling and "What the Fuck Did I get myself Into?" expressions were pretty great. Garvin was the star here and I can see this on the 80s set.
  21. Speak for yourself.
  22. There is a Jack Brisco match where I think we have 17 minutes or so which may be the complete match. I want to check that out. These are wrestlers I was brainstorming and I couldn't think of a singles match that was better than the one they had with Lawler... Jerry Lawler vs. Dory Funk Jr. 3/30/81 Jerry Lawler vs. Jesse Ventura 10/10/83 Jerry Lawler King vs. Kong Bundy 7/16/84 Jerry Lawler vs. Bam Bam Bigelow (Texas Death Match) 9/7/86 Jerry Lawler vs. Austin Idol (Hair vs. Hair, Loser Leaves Town, Steel Cage Match) 4/27/87 Jerry Lawler vs. The Snowman 6/2/90 Jerry Lawler vs. The Miz 2/20/11 These are some of Lawler's Super feuds where they had multiple great matches / angles... Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee Jerry Lawler vs. Nick Bockwinkel Jerry Lawler vs. Terry Funk Jerry Lawler vs. Randy Savage Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich These guys may have arguably had thier best match against Lawler but I would have to compare the matches to each other to see which one I think is best... Jerry Lawler vs. Dutch Mantel Jerry Lawler vs. Eric Embry Jerry Lawler vs. Tommy Rich Jerry Lawler vs. Tommy Dreamer
  23. You said a "Match of the Week". Find a youtube match... put it in the multi media forum and I'll give people password access when they ask for it. For entire shows, we aren't in the business of giving people access to entire shows online anyway so we don't draw the attention of the internet police.
  24. We have our Funk threads and multiple Flair threads. I felt that Lawler needed a thread. This one is for the Memphis fans. Actually, it is to help me make sure I leave no stone unturned on the upcoming Lawler Mega Set. First, I want to start with Lawler's greatest strength ... having compelling feuds that sometimes last years, sometimes decades. These were the great Lawler feuds I came up with. Jerry Lawler vs. Jimmy Hart – 1980-84 Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee - 1970s – 2000s Jerry Lawler vs. Terry Funk – 1981, early 1990s Jerry Lawler vs. Dutch Mantel – 1982 Jerry Lawler vs. Nick Bockwinkel – 1982 Jerry Lawler vs. Andy Kaufman – 1982-83 Jerry Lawler vs. Randy Savage – 1983 – 1985 Jerry Lawler vs. Bill Dundee & Buddy Landel – 1985 -86 Jerry Lawler vs. Eddie Gilbert – 1985 -1994 Jerry Lawler vs. Austin Idol & Tommy Rich – 1987 Jerry Lawler vs. Kerry Von Erich – 1988 Jerry Lawler vs. Snowman – 1990 Jerry Lawler vs. Eric Embry – 1991 Jerry Lawler & Jeff Jarrett vs. Moondogs – 1992 Jerry Lawler vs. WWF – 1993 Jerry Lawler vs. The Miz – 2010-11 I need to research his 70s feuds. It could be argued that several of these were the feud of the year, and in the case of Lawler-Dundee or Lawler-Hart... maybe the best feuds of all time. Next, as I look through my list of matches... I'll list Lawler opponents where I thought Lawler had an argument for having that person's best match.
  25. Maybe you should sit somewhere else.
