  1. I know this poll struck a chord with Loss but the purpose of the poll was to take the Flair vs. Bret debate out of the Bret Hart thread and on that end, it succeeded. With that said, I agree with everything he said in his 2nd post above.
  2. You knew deep down that Flair was better even though you want to like Bret better on the surface. Having said that,I have no idea how you fix the poll results.
  3. Prior to the 80s project, I was sorta done with Flair. Hated the old man, ranting Flair from WWE. Had seen all the Flair-Steamboat I could stand for a lifetime. Then the 80s projects and all of the matches that popped up on the sets made me rethink my position on Flair and I actively look for Flair matches from the 80s to watch. I have been really disappointed with 80s era Hart Foundation and 90s WWf might be the least appealing American promotion for me so it is hard for me to get excited about BRet Hart matches. Five years ago, it would have been the complete opposite but I am firmly in Flair's corner on this one.
  4. I think the Bret Hart thread is steering towards Ric Flair vs. Bret Hart territory so lets split that discussion off from the Bret Hart love.
  5. Jerry, you never made the edits.
  6. I included the commercials and the Prime Time interviews on the 1991 yearbook. That is enough Suburban Commando for me.
  7. From here on out, lets list the card so people can look the card over. When you guys throw out show names like Survivor Series (for example only), I know Hart-Austin and Rocky's debut. Don't remember the rest of the show. LEts look if a show, from top to bottom is really one of the greatest of all time or just has a couple of great matches. Lets actually argue the cards as a whole.
  8. I listened to Meltzer call the recent NJ PPV one of the best shows of all time. Then soup reviewed the show and said No Fucking Way!!! So, I think it has been awhile (and there have been tons of shows since) than we can do another Best Shows of All Time thread. So, soup, as a comparison... what do you consider one of the best shows of all time? Top to Bottom Mother Fuckers!!!
  9. As an 11 year old kid, I totally bought the America's Team bullshit. However, I also equated America's Team with the Cowboys. Therefore, my hatred for the Cowboys eventually extended to the Braves as well.
  10. Jerry, clarify your 1st paragraph. Are you saying the wrestlers didn't expect to work classic matches or that fans should not expect classic matches.? Also, when someone gets outworked on the mat, it doesn't necessarily mean that one wrestler got the better of the other and gains an advantage. It means that the shit one wrestler did looked cooler than what the opponent attempted.
  11. I am with you on that one. Thought he was ho-hum on the ECW set but really good on the SMW set but he didn't even sniff Top Ten in the promotion for the short time it was open... but that's for another thread.
  12. Miz has been horrible since he stopped wrestling Jerry Lawler.
  13. Somebody start a thread in the trading / comp section. This is getting away from the purpose of this thread.
  14. I think I am going to attempt this.
  15. I was being generous and I was aware of the 1996 when I made the post
  16. Are there any news articles on this epidemic?
  17. You know John, if the thread offends you so much, you don't have to participate in it. You can just let those who want to examine Bret's career do just that.
  18. For someone who called himself the Best There Ever Was, Hart's peal was incredibly short. In other threads, we are tlaking about guys with PEAKS that go over a decade. At best, Bret was at a peak from 1994-1997. He was also at his peak at an incredibly hot time in the wrestling business when so many other wrestlers sorta smoked him in the ring. Loss and Childs for sure watched all of the yearbooks so far from 1990, 92-1996. I would be interested to hear the thoughts of those who watched all of the yearbooks where BRet Hart stood compared to everyone else. They can give opinions on Bret but I don't think the answer will be "The Best There Ever Was". I think he might have an argument for Best Canadian that wrestled in the 1980s and 1990s.
