    It hates you.
  5. A friend of the family's worked at Luby's when I was a kid. She said Brody came into eat with his wife and kid. That's all I got at this point.
  6. I don't hear Sheamus but good try.
  7. I'll have to dig out the thread about what decade people prefer. Also, such a small, small sampling of posters in that thread. Like 8 people were in the discussion.
  8. The Memphis set had the mega-extras and that puts it over the top for a lot of people. For people watching the Memphis set, the extras were just as important as the matches and might be the only set where that is the case except maybe Crockett.
  9. That's a personal taste because I have worked on tons of 90s yearbooks and tons of 80s projects and I will take 80s wrestling over 90s wrestling every single day of the week. I think there was a topic here before about which decade you prefer. Maybe you need to bump that topic.
  10. I knew what you were talking about Johnny!
  11. Something happened to my dvd recorder where whatever is converted for the 1991 yearbook is what goes on. The project is essentially finished right now.
  12. So's DiBiase's career. Who the fuck cares how the state of kayfabe in 2012 relates to DiBiase? We can discuss that in the "John Cena: Brawler or Technician" thread. I should have put a little smiley in there so I didn't evoke so much anger from you. With that said, I disagree with you on the whole perception is reality thing. If the announcers sell you as super technical man and you show week after week that you are super punching bleeding brawling man, it just means you have stupid announcers.
  13. "A running team" in football used to be the old three-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust, grind-it-out, Woody Hayes offense--passing only when necessary. Now, particularly in the NFL, you're a "running team" if you rush on 50% of your plays. These things can happen. This is a performance art not a sport. Is this sort of how Nickelback became metal or something? My view is in that in pro wrestling perception is reality. DiBiase in kayfabe terms was a technician--so that's what he is. Kayfabe is dead.
  14. shoe, what's up with the 4 posts?
  15. I think OJ's explanation would suffice. Oh, and Ron Garvin twisting dudes into pretzels isn't brawling.
  16. I freely admit Dibiase might have been the best technical wrestler in the world from 1975-81. From 1982-1994, he never gave any indication he was a super technical mat expert.
  17. I enjoyed the two Bruiser Brody matches (shock of shocks) and the Lawler match a little. Dude, what other Dory matches are good because of Dory?
  18. What 2 fat guys would you have above him? Are you including Vader? Yokozuna?
  19. Then you are posting at fantasy land and maybe this place isn't for you because we actually watch the matches, we don't rely on rose-colored glasses and faded memories. I watch the matches as well but to be honest I'm all Mid South right now ansd I have to break from that to re watch Brody. I watched my Brody Disc last year and I remember still being impressed by him. If you guys can't handle a veiw point that disagrees with your small world then I don't know what to tell you but I don't go along just to get along. Dude, we have tons of threads here where people disagree and continue to disagree. We just want you to either stop posting as if your word is gospel or actually break shit down. Right now, you are speaking in platitudes and I am the king of platitudes. Give us some examples so we can see what you are seeing because after watching close to 100 Brody matches for the 80s project, we actually gave you specific examples of why we think he sucks. Dude I have admitted that I need to rewatch Brody, but me liking him has nothing to do with faded memories long gone by, I just watched this cat a year ago and in my recollection he was awesome. I will watch this guy again hopefully by the end of the weekend. I never said my word was Gospel, again quit emotionalizing the argument. Re read my posts as I admitted I can see where people think he is overrated but to say he was terrible is a huge stretch. Again stick to what I said not what you think I meant. For me he is top 20 but I understand if others don't rate him that way but to say he sucked is kinda a credibility loser. Then my words will have no credibility for you because I think he actively sucked. He ruined matches. Everything I hold dear about pro wrestling, he was not good at any of them. If Bruiser Brody is what you like about wrestling, that's cool but that is a credibility loser with us. When you recommend people watch matches, I am going to think to myself... well that dude likes shitty Bruiser Brody matches. I am not going to take him seriously. You have every right to feel the same way about me as well. That's very cool. Even his promos sucked. You see this crazy, wildman with a voice like Mike Tyson... except with the part about wanting to eat your children.
  20. I would buy a ticket for both of those matches.
  21. Dick Murdoch's title matches against Butch Reed were wrestled in a classic title match mat style as well and did well in the Mid South polling. I still want to see Dick Murdoch punch a mother fucker in the face and bleed.
  22. He had decent matches with Savage, Bret etc. but never as good as the brawls he had in Mid South and those guys all had GREAT matches with other people but never with Technical Ted. What a shame. Also, most brawlers use those wrestling moves. Suplexes and piledrivers were pretty standard weapons in most 80s offensive wrestlers. My point is't that Ted couldn't wrestle a standard wrestling match. My point is that he was GREAT when he was involved in brawls.
  23. Some of these other topics reminded me of Dory Funk Jr. Such a painful experience watching a Dory Funk Jr. match.
  24. Is the definition of great mat technician boring the piss out of people for an hour?
