How many hours can you watch wrestling and feel like it was wasted because the guy on your screen sucks so bad that it makes you not want to invest time in wrestling? Three guys make me feel that way... Barry Darsow, Don Muraco and Davey Richards. I won't apologize for that. -
ALL JAPAN ON NTV July 23, 1983 TV (Taped on 7/17, Sendai) Opening Montage The announcer discusses the double main event as a result of last week’s matches. As a result of his win over Nick Bockwinkel in last week’s match, Terry Funk will get a title shot at Jumbo’s NWA International Heavyweight Title. Billy Robinson went thirty minutes with Jumbo last week and will get another title shot, facing Giant Baba for the PWF Heavyweight Title Backstage Interview: Tenryu announces that he will debut a new move on his opponent tonight and that it is guaranteed to knock any man out. He calls the move the Deadly Drop Trap or Desudoropputorappu. The interviewer gives him a puzzled look and Tenryu walks away and heads toward the ring. Genichiro Tenryu vs. Shiro Koshinaka Tenryu abuses Koshinaka early on, slapping him in the chest and using his sumo slaps to back him in the corner. Several forearms to the neck leave Koshinaka in a heap. Tenryu motions for Kosh to stand up like a man but as he grabs the rope to pull himself up, Tenryu rams him in the face with a big knee. Tenryu continues to dish out the punishment, whips Kosh into the ropes and lays him out with a brutal lariat. He immediately follows with a big elbow drop and twists Koshinaka’s arms behind his torso and slaps him on the chest, alternating with elbows to the neck as Kosh is helpless with his arms hooked behind his back. Kosh has blood trickling down his nose and his chest is raw flesh. Tenryu pulls him up, whips him to the ropes, Kosh ducks a lariat and responds with the flying hip attack. The force of the bump throws Tenryu to the mat. A dazed Kosh recognizes the situation and runs with a dropkick to Tenryu on the ground. Koshinaka responds with a running senton and a one count. He climbs the turnbuckle and waits for Tenryu to get up so he can nail a missile dropkick. He gets a two count and the crowd urges him on, sensing they may see an upset. This time, Kosh whips Tenryu into the ropes and attempts another hip attack. However, Tenryu catches him in mid-air and gives him a delayed release German suplex. Tenryu grabs him by the hair, hooks his head under the arm and drops him face first to the mat before pinning him. After the match, Tenryu picks Koshinaka to his feet and raises his arm for showing his fighting spirit. WINNER: Genichiro Tenryu in 8:13 after the Death Drop Trap +++ Jumbo Tsuruta © vs. Terry Funk - NWA International Heavyweight Title These two are no strangers to each other. Funk and Jumbo exchange holds early on but it doesn’t take long before a collar and elbow lock up leads both men over the top rope and onto the floor. Funk rams Jumbo’s shoulder into the ringpost. He follows up by grabbing Jumbo’s arm and ramming it into the guardrail. Funk attempts to piledrive Jumbo on the floor but Jumbo gives him a backdrop onto the floor. Jumbo beats the referee count and recovers as Funk stumbles and barely beats the clock. Jumbo is shaking his arm but still attacks Funk in the ring. He tries to bodyslam Funk but his shoulder won’t allow him to pick him up. Funk recognizes the damage to Jumbo’s arm and takes a page out of Dick Murdoch’s book and rams the arm into the mat with a jumping knee. He picks Jumbo off the mat and is able to hit the piledriver he couldn’t hit earlier on. He gets a two count and argues with the ref. Funk punches Jumbo to keep him dazed and starts tugging Jumbo’s arm using over the shoulder arm breakers to render his arm useless. Funk whips Jumbo into the ropes and Jumbo nails Funk with the big Jumping Knee. Funk’s legs turn into noodles and jumbo responds with a lariat with his good arm. Funk is dazed but he has the sense to grab Jumbo’s bad arm and ram his shoulder into the turnbuckle. Funk unloads his punching combos on Jumbo and the title is moments away from being Funk’s. Funk attempts another piledriver but Jumbo drops to one knee and Funk cannot lift him to execute another. Jumbo escapes the piledriver attempt and begins to elbow Funk on the side of his head. His arm is hanging, a dead useless limb. Funk swings and misses. Jumbo lifts him and gives him a one-armed atomic drop. Funk sells the damage, his legs barely holding him up, but he is dazed long enough for Jumbo to lift him with his good arm and fall back with a backdrop driver. Jumbo crawls over Funk for a lucky three count that thankfully ends the match for Jumbo. He escapes with his title. WINNER: Jumbo pins Funk with the Backdrop Suplex at 22:31 +++ Giant Baba © vs. Billy Robinson – PWF Heavyweight Title Baba comes out firing with overhead chops. Robinson tries to block the chops but the force of the Hands of Steel are too much for Billy to take so he escapes outside to regroup. Robinson stalls before entering the ring and refuses to engage Baba. Baba finally hooks in a headlock and they take it to the mat, Robinson attempts counters and pin attempts while being hooked in a headlock and even scores a couple of 2 counts. Baba lets go of the headlock but Robinson strikes quickly with a knee to the back of Baba’s head. Now, Robinson hooks on a headlock and it is Baba’s turn to attempt counters and quick pins. Baba is able to get to his feet, push Robinson off to the ropes and as Robinson rebounds off the ropes, he is met with a Giant Boot to the face that sends him to the mat and he desperately rolls outside. Baba follows outside and goes on the offensive, whipping Robinson into the rails. Baba attempts a running Big Boot but Robinson moves and Baba slams his leg into the railing. Baba’s leg is now damaged and Robinson smells blood. Inside the ring, Robinson twists and stretches Baba’s leg in 30 different directions, torturing the legend but unable to get him to surrender. In one display of power, Robinson takes the injured leg, wraps it around his neck and lifts up with Baba on the ground and the leg being extended around his neck. Unfortunately for Robinson, Baba kicks him in the face with his good foot and Robinson drops Baba as he falls to the ground. Both men are damaged but Baba is having difficulty standing after the leg attacks. Eventually, both men are up and as Baba starts chopping Robinson, Robinson sweeps Baba’s leg and Baba rolls to the outside unable to stand. Robinson regains his senses and follows him outside. Outside, Robinson grabs a chair and in order to block the swing, Baba lifts up the Big Boot, smashing the chair in Billy’s face. Baba hurts his leg and falls down. Both men are down and Robinson is now bleeding from the chair to the face. Both men recover and as the referee tries to get both men back in the ring, Baba flings him to the side into the rail. As the referee recovers, Robinson flings him again and he calls for the bell, ruling the match a No Contest, disqualifying both men. Robinson and Baba continue to fight through the aisles, with the audience scrambling to avoid the two legends. Eventually, both men disappear into the locker room WINNER: The match ends in a Double Disqualification Before signing off, next week’s main event is announced for the NWA International Tag Team Titles… Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Terry Funk & Billy Robinson

Make the font larger for the matches.

I think it looks good. The only suggestion is that your matches should stand out as matches. Right now, they blend in with the interview segments. Maybe make the matchup a title instead of just a bold. Example: How it looks now... Tully Blanchard vs. Scott Casey: They lock up blah blah blah... Try this... TULLY BLANCHARD VS. SCOTT CASEY - Southwest Title match They lock up, blah blah blah......

NEW JAPAN ON ASAHI July 22, 1983 TV (Taped on 7/14, Sapporo) Opening Montage We begin with announcers hyping up Brian Blair and Adrian Adonis and their upcoming match. They show highlights of Blair on tour, hitting dropkicks, leapfrogs, flying out of the ring. They show clips of Adonis hooking on his sleeper, getting caught in the ropes, double teaming opponents with Dick Murdoch. Adrian Adonis vs. Brian Blair The match begins at a quick pace, leapfrogs, drop downs, crisscrosses before Adonis hooks on a sleeper right away and Blair immediately grabs for the ropes. They repeat the sequence and this time, Blair gets the advantage nailing Adonis with a standing dropkick. Adonis rolls out of the ring to regroup before Blair can score the upset. Adonis make shis way and as Blair charges Adonis, Adonis lifts him up and pancakes him to the mat. Adonis puts all of his bodyweight on Blair and hooks in a chinlock. Adonis isn’t really torturing Blair but he is keeping him immobilized with his girth. Blair is trying to rally the crowd but they aren’t really giving him encouragement, just a few random calls and shouts from the audience. Adonis releases the lock and immediately drops elbows on the back of Blair’s neck. Adonis, feeling cocky, goes to the 2nd rope and attempts a flying elbow. Blair rolls out of the way and Adonis bounces off the mat and onto his feet. Blair hits the ropes and nails Adonis with a running dropkick sending Adonis crashing to the ropes and Adonis falls back hooking his arms into the ropes, trapping himself. The crowd comes alive as Blair runs again and hits another dropkick on the helpless Adonis. The crowd roars with approval so he does it again. Now Blair is feeling confident, slaps Adonis and goes for it again but Adonis escapes and Blair’s momentum sends him crashing outside without a safety net. Blair is damaged outside the ring so Adonis struts as Blair struggles to get back in. As Blair enters the ropes, Adonis hooks him on the ropes and performs a swinging neck breaker. Blair attempts a weak comeback but he is too dazed, Adnois irish whips him to the ropes, hooks on the Sleeper, wraps his legs around and puts him to sleep. Goodnight Irene WINNER: Adrian Adonis with the sleeper in 11:44 +++ Dick Murdoch vs. Abdullah the Butcher Murdoch slides into the ring and immediately starts pasting Abdullah with atomic elbows. Abby staggers back into the turnbuckle and Dick fires off left hooks and wild haymakers. Abby is reeling and Murdoch is coming out full of fire. Dick winds up his right and then nails Abby with a left hook. Abby crumbles to the ground in the corner. The referee forces Dick to back up but he keeps coming at the Butcher. The referee’s interference gives Abby time to reach for his fork and stab Murdoch in the eye. Dick stumbles back and holds his left eye. Abby is able to recover and begins biting at Dick’s eye that is now bleeding. Murdoch’s forehead is completely dry but blood is streaming from around one eye, dripping from his cheek. Abdullah gives Murdoch a couple of headbutts and a throat thrust sends him crashing to the mat. Murdoch falls face first to the mat and as Abby picks him up, a small puddle of blood remains where his face once was. Abby continues to hook Dick in a headlock and stabs him in the eye with his fork. The screams of pain from Murdoch sound like a tortured animal. Eventually, Abby tosses Murdoch down and tries to finish with the Big Elbow but Dick rolls out of the way. Abby is down! Murdoch goes to the top rope and leaps off with a flying fist drop to Abby’s brow. Murdoch pounds on Abby until he is busted open with blood. In a fit of desperation, Abby grabs the fork out of his tights and stabs Murdoch in the eye again with the fork, in full view of the referee. The referee calls for the bell and the two men make their way out of the ring and begin brawling. Abby begins throwing chairs at Murdoch, knocking him off his feet a couple of times. Abby attempts to stab Murdoch again but Dick steals the fork and begins puncturing Abby’s bloody forehead. Abby runs away and retreats behind the curtain. WINNER: Dick Murdoch by disqualification in 7:27 Murdoch makes his way back to the ring and grabs a microphone. His eye is a sick mess, swollen shut from the damage but new fresh blood continues to drip over the older dry blood. Dick Murdoch Promo: Abdullah… BOY!... you are a damn coward! Last time we met, you took some flesh from me boy. This time, you took one of my eyes. I only need one eye to beat your ass boy. You no-good fat cow. I’m from Texas, and in Texas, before we carve a cow up and serve them on our plates, we hang ‘em from a hook and let the blood drain from their bodies and rip out their guts. Boy, I am gonna bleed you dry and rip out your guts. Next time we meet, no referee is going to stop this match, boy. They are going to watch helplessly as I carve you up and roast your flesh boy. You damn cow. I will torture you, boy!!! Murdoch throws the microphone down in disgust and makes his way to the back +++ TIGER MASK INTERVIEW Interviewer: Fujiwara is very tentative to engage and Kimura knows that one wrong move will cost him against the crafty Fujiwara. In the middle of the ring, Kimura is successful in taking Fujiwara down. He does a full mount and begins unloading with his rapid fire punches. Fujiwara guards himself and is able to grab Kengo’s arm and attempts a cross armbar. Kengo frantically reaches the ropes and they reset. Fujiwara hooks Kengo in a headbutt but Kengo escapes with a backdrop suplex. He immediately follows with a Texas Cloverleaf and Fujiwara struggles to escape the hold and reaching the ropes. Kengo continues with his lightning punches and Fujiwara is getting pounded. He responds with a headbutt that stuns Kengo. Fujiwara grabs a hammerlock and begins headbutting the shoulder and arm of Kimura. Fujiwara on the attack and he even hits a swinging neck breaker. He attempts the Armbar but Kengo reaches the ropes. Fujiwara continues stretching the arm and Kengo continues to counter and escape each time he is hooked. At one point, Kimura is able to knock Fujiwara to the ground following a bodyslam, as Fujiwara stands, he rebounds off the ropes and hits a Lightning Leg Lariat. Kengo covers for a near fall. Kengo then nails a piledriver but Fujiwara pops up and signals that his head is impervious to pain. Kengo attempts another Lighning Leg Lariat but Fujiwara steps to the side and Kengo lands in a heap. Fujiwara strikes like a snake and immediately headbutts Kimura into the corner. Kimura is damaged and cannot prevent being knocked loopy by the barrage of headbutts. Fujiwara grabs Kengo’s arm, headbutts the shoulder SIXTEEN times and then drops Kengo in the middle of the ring with a Falling Fujiwara Armbar and Kimura taps quickly. After the match, Fujiwara helps Kimura to his feet and shakes his hand. How Should Drop Out Promotions Be Handled? - Use This Thread
goodhelmet replied to Beast's topic in The Archives
This is not true. I explained specifically in the thread that most pairings were a template, not doctrine. I even said Crockett could be paired with Florida and Japan could be liinked to PR as the "foreign' promotions with WWF linked to Maple Leaf. Dude... you were the one who gave me the link to the freaking randomizer. We had already moved on. We can't wait for all 17 people every time a decision needs to be made because not all people are invested in the project the same. Quotes after I proposed the takeovers... goc... Joe Blanchard accepts this arrangement but would also like it to be known that WCCW will only win the war over his cold, dead body. Kris... Makes sense to me Grimmas... I kind of like this, since it mimics real life. Boricua... Not a crazy idea at all, actually a very sensible idea. Flyin' Brian... I like that idea too, although I'm with Goc that Memphis can have ICW over my dead body dawho5... Whatever it is, we should be clear going forward where each promotion's guys go before the next person quits. It will save on the arguing when two or three people want guys from a territory and have even a semi-valid claim. Wahoo's Leg... If you guys are OK with the merger, I can go on and hash out my roster moves in the next few days. Beast... Sounds good Those were the comments from the people who cared. We shouldn't be doing another poll. I get the concern about the matchups. We can work on those. Hell, I think if you link Japan to Puerto Rico, Florida to Crockett and WWF to Male Leaf, it solves the issue. Are you telling me that Crockett wouldn't chomp at the bit for Dusty and his crew? Or that WWF wouldn't want Toronto since we know they broke records there? EDIT: I left out lowblow's comments because they were not directed toward the idea but instead about Crockett's matchup issues.
