  1. Billy Corgan already went on record as saying the current model is not self sustaining. Dave Lagana has been doing the media rounds on the company's goals and expectations. When you say it's not self sustaining and pretend to be concerned, you aren't really adding anything that hasn't already been said. Also, the internet (and especially Netflix) has changed viewing habits. I watched the 1st show, liked what I saw, and am waiting for a few more to drop so I can binge watch. I am not saying 100,000 other people are doing the same but it wouldn't surprise me if they were.
  2. The pattern is the same. Better than expected debut numbers. Big droppoff in the 2nd week. Less of a dropoff in the 3rd week. But thank you for educating me on the difference between cable tv and youtube. Very enlightening.
  3. Sort of like AEW... interesting.

    NXT talk

This topic could probably go in the "Can WWE be redeemed?" thread and filed under No.
  5. I am not deflecting criticism at all. I am making a direct comparison. Corbin was pushed and elevated into positions that the crowd didn't want. He gets boos. That doesn't mean he's over... and he really isn't over. Most of the time, he wrestles to silence... just like the Dark Order. Anyway, I am not a fan of everything AEW does. I have made that clear in this forum. But as far as entertainment goes, they are doing more than enough to keep me happy as a fan.
  6. Yes... i was just about to post this exact same thing.
  7. One encouraging sign from AEW... they recognize misfires and don't shove them down the fans' throats. The Librarians gimmick was shit on (and rightfully so) and they haven't really appeared on TV in any meaningful capacity. They tried building up the Dark Order leading up to the TV debut but the fans responded with groans/ apathy. Instead of forcing them into a championship spot, they kept storyline continuity (after Dark Order won the bye) but also made the correct booking decision in not allowing them to advance further. In WWE, regardless of his improvement, nobody wanted Baron Corbin to be pushed. The company pushed him anyway and made him KOTR. If Dark Order would have won, they would be the tag team Baron Corbin. Kudos for not giving us more Corbins.

    Is WWE redeemable?

Easy fix... she saves Nattie from a beatdown to a huge pop. Just the return alone would have been enough. To be honest, I have no idea what actually happened. Just trying to make Sleaze's scenario more appealing to you.
  9. This right here. My wrestling fandom for the last couple of years has hinged on my love for old school wrestling. I like New Japan but I'm not in love with New Japan. I cut ties with all WWE product because I despise the company. AEW and NWA Power have me excited to watch weekly wrestling again.
  10. Also, what happened to that Warlord dude? He had a vignette on the PPV... then nothing
  11. 9 episodes tapes in 2 days They are leading to a December PPV
  12. Nobody will think of any less of you. Good for you.
  13. It's not cool that Cody was sick.
  14. This shouldn't be surprising. Even after you consider the discrepancy in presentation, NXT is so mired in the WWE corporate muck that they don't even feel cool anymore. One of their most charismatic guys (Dream) is now injured and the other most charismatic guy (Matt Riddle) was pinned in week one. Just another bro.
  15. I was disappointed with the number. I thought after the great buzz from last week, it would have rebounded a bit. Bummer.
  16. The positive is that they haven't even debuted Janela on TV yet. They can make him be whatever they want him to be. The same goes for the Dark Order, to be honest.
  17. I disagree with you on a few things. Riho's charisma is what is carrying her through these matches. Sometimes, charisma is enough. I don't think the crowd is accepting everything. To be fair, there hasn't been anything on the TV shows, so far, that should get a negative response. The booking has been logical. The matches have been fun/good/great. The wrestlers all feel big league... definitely more impressive than about 60% of the roster that WCW would throw out there during their peak to fill up TV time. As far as TV goes, they have done everything right. Next week's debut of the Dark Order will really be the true test of your statement. I agree that the women are the weak part of the show but not in an "embarrassed to be a wrestling fan" sort of way. There are so many times in WWE's history where the women were the piss break because they either a. sucked or b. complete apathy. AEW doesn't have a strong division but it isn't the nadir of women's wrestling either. Hell, at this point, WWE isn't having great women's matches either (on the main roster anyway).
  18. Marko Stunt works as a lawn dart and as the little train who thinks he can but ultimately can't. He should never get any non-flying offense on another wrestler ever. He should never pin anyone in a non-tag setting or non-screwy fashion. He should only win in the holiest upsets of upsets where his opponent slips on a banana peel. This isn't a Rey Mysterio situation. I liked the tag match last night because they worked it the right way. If the Lucha Brothers were trading moves back and forth with Stunt, I would have been disappointed. EDIT: He should also not be booked like Spike Dudley. Spike was a "giant killer" in ECW. He was the little goof in WWE but given credible offense. In a sadistic way, Stunt should be the guy who gets beat up every time, he is touched by an opponent.
  19. To be fair, the mother fucker came out on a horse. He has commitment.
  20. That sucks... but in a weird way, if they are smart, they bring him out to a huge debut as a singles, once he is healed.
  21. I have zero problems with a cowboy in wrestling... if they act like cowboys. I like Page as a wrestler but I don't look forward to his matches.
  22. I'm neutral on PAC. They are pushing him as a star but I have zero emotional attachment to him. On the other hand, I actively look forward to seeing Moxley because the rejection of his WWE career, in character and performance, is fascinating to watch.
  23. This was the first time I have watched an entire episode live on TV. I know people have been critical of JR but i thought he was good. This booth is so refeshing to hear compared with every single WWE announce team in the last 10 years. The show was a little tag heavy for my tastes but it was such an easy show to watch. I didn't like everything but I didn't ever feel like changing the channel. I really liked the main event. I like that Jericho takes his time and doesn't rush anything. Darby Allin is such a special talent and I loved the tape spots. Overall, positive first experience watching Dynamite.
  24. Riho is so charismatic but Baker is not good. They need to phase her out of a featured position and keep her in dark matches.
