And while he was in that tag team role, he was consistently getting some of the loudest cheers, and was tearing things up on a weekly basis with the Shield, Orton, and Cesaro amongst others.

It's a 3/5 Falls six man (Andre/Strongbow/Whitewolf vs. Brody and the Executioners) that only goes 20 minutes. So I can't imagine the full match doesn't exist. Both Tabe and DJ Mike Nice say that they have it.

Married with kids? When do you have time to watch?
MikeCampbell replied to Smack2k's topic in Pro Wrestling
Congrats, Loss! I've got two little girls, age 3 and 18 months. I work third shift, so I'm with the kids during the day, while the wife is at work. I usually watch in the mornings when I come home from work, and during the day while the kids are playing, or with their aunts, or something. My older one is starting get into wrestling. I never laughed so hard as when Rock came back in January and she jumped up yelling "That's the Rock!" and followed up with telling me "The Rock's walking!" as Rock was making his way to the ring. I'm lucky though, that they're so close in age. My older one will watch cartoons or something on my wife's Nook, and the little one will snuggle right up with her, and let me watch a couple of Brody matches for the Brody microscope thread. -
The best thing here is the scrum at the end with Robely and Terry both getting involved, and Terry's hideous jacket.

Bruiser Brody vs. Dory Funk Jr (Feb '88) Here's a case of Brody being willing to bump and sell. That'd normally be a good thing, but it's Dory, whose strikes don't look like they can crack an egg. He gives Brody a headlock and short punch, and Brody goes flying over the top for him. It's the total opposite, Brody is actually being too giving (I can't believe that I'm saying it) Brody even does somewhat of a job here, with Dory winning by countout.

I watched Brody vs. Ayala from '87, off a downloaded Brody in PR comp (more for the desire to check out PR than anything to do with Brody). Nothing too special here from Brody, the highlight is his taking a few turnbuckle shots and at first he's stumbling around looking like he's doing the world's shittiest Dick Murdoch impression, but then it shows that he's actually doing the world's shittiest Hulk Hogan "Hulk Up." He also throws a ton of shitty looking front kicks. They don't look too bad when Ayala is on the floor and Brody is on the apron, but the ones when they're both standing up, they just look terrible. Another Brodie, does a much better one.

It's not like I asked him to sit through Sheiky's 2007 RF Shoot or Mike Graham's Guest booker (aka 80 minutes of bullshit and about 10 minutes of booking).

Would Steve Austin be looked at like HHH with longer time?
MikeCampbell replied to Smack2k's topic in The Microscope
I can only think of two things that I firmly hold against HHH. The first being the Eddie match on Raw, when he was drafted to Smackdown that one day. There was no good reason for him to not put over the WWE Champion, the superkick from Michaels that layed him out was the perfect set up to let Eddie do the frog splash and pin him, and it's not like he'd have been hurt at all from doing the job. The other being that after Eugene got over, he basically inserted himself into the angle and squashed him at Summerslam, which more or less kick started Eugene's demise. -
His whole attitude is generally that fan don't know shit. And he says that despite what we idiots think, Hogan/Andre was best match of 'Mania III since it drew the house, not Savage/Steamboat, which even Sean has to disagree with him on.

Were the Death of the Territories in the 80s Inevitable?
MikeCampbell replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
Like goc already pointed out, Lawler was part owner of the company, so he had a good reason to stay in Memphis. The only big name from Portland that I'm recalling Vince taking is Billy Jack Haynes, and he's already been making the rounds long before Vince snagged him in '86, he'd done stints in Florida, WCCW, and Crockett. Like Greg says in the interview, Vince was playing dirty in order to weaken the competition, so Verne "hunkering down" wasn't going to matter with Vince stealing the key talent, and getting exclusive locks on the arenas he ran, and stealing his syndicated TV from underneath him. That's also why I asked about Watts and what the general opinion on the UWF was at the time? Was it considered on the level of WWF or Crockett, or considered minor league a la AWA and WCCW by that time? -
Were the Death of the Territories in the 80s Inevitable?
MikeCampbell replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
Part of the appeal to Memphis and Portland is that the local wrestling was huge in those two areas, because there weren't many major sports teams during theose times. Portland had the Blazers, but that was it. So, wrestling was *THE* big thing in those cities. Taking a gander through Graham's WWF results from 1987 through 1990, Vince only Portland about half a dozen times or so per year at the Memorial Coliseum, with the highest number recorded being 6,000 fans, and most of the listings from Graham being between 2,000 and 4,500. So it seems safe to say that it wasn't a huge priority market for Vince, and he wasn't making a killing there. Memphis, Vince basically stayed clear of, only running once or twice per year, and the listed gates are nowhere close the 11,000 sellouts that Jarrett and Lawler could draw. It's also worth nothing that Lawler got one over on Vince by winning a lawsuit where he claimed Vince was falsely advertising one of his house shows by saying "The King" would be there (meaning Harley) and making fans think that Lawler would be at the show. -
Were the Death of the Territories in the 80s Inevitable?
MikeCampbell replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in Pro Wrestling
In short, Jerry, yes, the death of territories was an inevitability. If it wasn't Vince, it would have been someone else. Vince wasn't even the first one to attempt expansion, when TBS went national, Ole was running shows in Ohio and Michigan and drawing big numbers. I don't know if cable is entirely to blame for it, although it was definitely a factor. I think it's more accurate to say that most of the territory promoters weren't able to properly promote and market on a national level. The story has always been that Watts failed because the oil market dried up, but can anyone who was watching at that time verify that? What was the overall opinion of the UWF compared to WWF or Crockett? The best days of the AWA, World Class, and Continental were already behind them, when they tried making a serious play at it. That pretty much leaves Memphis and Portland as the survivors, they both lasted into the 1990's, and they were both smart enough to know that they didn't have the onions to go head to head with Vince. -
B-Double, if you haven't seen it yet, check out Al Snow's Guest Booker. If not for the Mike Graham edition, it'd be the worst one of all. Al is a complete douche throughout the whole interview.

I legit lol'd at Greg's comment when Sean asked if the boys knew about Mel Philips. "If he wants to suck toes, let him!"

I just watched this today, and I totally agree with El-P. Fuller's background in the business, and his stories are awesome, but they're the best part. It's a perfect example of why active talents have no business booking. Fuller's idea of him giving Shawn to Sherri is totally stupid, and it completely reeks of Fuller just trying to get himself involved in the angle.

He was definitely a tape trader. Alfredo Esparza, who currently runs Slambamjam, pulled off a big coup some years ago by purchasing a bunch of tapes from Tenay's collection, which he kept in immaculate condition. -
I could do with Kane as part of the Wyatts. It could lead to a fun, if corny, angle of Bryan trying to get his friend back and feuding with them.

I haven't seen any of it myself, but is any of his Jon Moxley work worth checking out? -
Just watched the Bobby Eaton one from High Spots. Truly awful. How so? I'd guess because it's Bobby Eaton, not exactly the king of promos.

In Bret's defense, he's not saying that he invented the ladder match. But, rather he brought the concept to the WWF, which seems to be true.

"Anderson Silva took a dive" from a wrestling POV
MikeCampbell replied to Ditch's topic in Pro Wrestling Mostly
The ONLY reason I can see giving the 'work' theory any real thought, would be the fact that, like Ditch said, Weidman had the shortest odds of winning, but everyone was coming out of the woodwork to say that they thought he could take Silva.
