Well yeah he had more longevity against all the top guys of the era....Punk didn't have that and leaving when he did plus if he doesn't come back he won't have that. Edge benefited from the brand split more than just about anyone as he was able to have a world/WWE title to run with and to main event PPV's and house shows in an era when guys like Cena, HHH, Batista, Orton, etc were able to hold the other title.

IMO Edge has more of a case than Punk does actually and I'm not an Edge fan.

If they don't run that match at the Rumble and Reigns wins the Rumble not Bryan....well
-
Brock vs. Bryan at Rumble HAS to happen basically
-
How in the hell has Sting pressslamming Flair numerous times not made this list yet

Steamboat/Youngblood wouldn't get in because well Steamboat is already in.....and yes they would get the one territory treatment even more than the Andersons since they bounced between JCP & GCW.
-
They were a definite cog in the machine no doubt because Mid-South had nothing like them before. Their detractors though will say that once JYD left though the territory went down drawing wise with RnR as the main act. Sure Duggan was the top singles star but RnR was the main act.
-
And Dave has a definite point about Steamer & Youngblood.....they didn't team together as long and had breaks in between runs but when they were on top they were huge draws. RnR never had a feud like Slaughter/Kernodle that dominated the territory main events for about 5 months in a row. Steamer/Youngblood vs. Briscos did pretty damn great business too. Sure RnR had MX but they never dominated JCP like the Slaughter/Kernodle feud did. Now you can make that argument for Mid-South though which to their detriment though ran more smaller cities than JCP did. New Orleans, Houston, Tulsa, & OKC compared to Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, Richmond, Norfolk, Columbia, Greenville, Savannah is slanted towards JCP in a comfortable way. I will vote for RnR every year until they get in because they were in so many classic feuds and matches for a long period of time.
-
One of the knocks on RnR were that they weren't "draws" which is ridiculous because they headlined a lot during the JCP heyday and drew big houses. Also another knock is that Morton is a HOF guy but Gibson isn't so he drags Morton down.

The fact that Bunim-Murray demanded the split and will make it look like a amazing story on Total Divas while WWE books it like garbage is pretty hilarious.

Yeah buddy I'm down for this

Would it have been though? He didn't exactly light the wrestling world on fire when he eventually did join the WWE in late 1990 as General Adnan. I can't imagine that the WWE's approach to his character would have been radically different only five years earlier. There was no Gulf War in 1985 so him as his AWA persona in WWF managing Sheiky & Volkoff would've been funny
-
Going through old sources for results yeah.
-
If a worker is easy to work with then he is beloved by the other guys whether he is good or not.
-
So I'm reading some stuff and Sheik Adnan was trying to get into WWF during a sabbatical from AWA in late 1985 and there were plans to bring him in as Blassie's replacement....that would've been a hoot
-
Well the ultimate may be the whole factor of drawing money...fans mainly care about how a match is worked while the wrestlers at least back in the day cared about who could draw and who couldn't because their money depended on it.
-
When ECW took over RAW in 1997 the game changed for them......they had fun stuff after that but the magic of what they had the two years earlier was gone. 1995 was a fun year but as far as matches goes 1996 was their best year IMO
-
They totally removed any mentions of Sam on their site today
-
Yeah it's definitely safe to say that Sam will not be on RAW
-
Homer O'Dell in GCW in 1983 was as bad as anyone gets....way past his prime and was gone in just a couple of weeks
-
For us old timers RAW spoilers was a big deal
-
They should use Ryback's time off to bring him back as a megaface again
-
The main factor here isn't really merchandise it's the marketing to kids in general. Cena is a hero to children who watch the shows and who get their parents to bring them to the shows. My deal with Cena is and I've seen this from first hand experience what is the exact ratio of adults booing Cena but bringing their kids to cheer him or just chlldless adults who boo him. I think in the end Cena will turn heel when Reigns or Ambrose is hot enough to be his nemesis.

Stewart actually started in Southeastern then went to Geigel before going to JCP in 1986 and then working for Pedicino after that. There were quite a few people shocked when the word broke that he had AIDS.

Boxing is the same way....it heats up around Cinco de Mayo and cools off by the 2nd week of December....January-April is a slower period
